sunny morning Elizabeth felt the breeze as she walked Evah to Rosemary and Lee's while she went back on the first day of school after summer vacation "Alright sweetheart Im heading to work today and your gonna hangout with auntie Rosemary and uncle Lee."
Evah looked at the ground sad that summer was over "okay mommy" she replied in a low voice. Elizabeth looked down at her and stopped at the coulters door step "is everything okay?" She asked Evah looked up at her mom "I just wish summer wasn't over.. "
Elizabeth smiled "I'll tell you what you can come to school with me tomorrow but today you need to stay with Lee and Rosemary"
"Okay mom" Evah said immediately rushing inside her aunt and uncles door.
Rosemary and Lee came down the stairs as Evah jumped into her uncles arms witch made them all laugh "thank you for this guys"
Rosemary smiled "are you kidding we get to spend time with our favourite niece!" Evah looked at her aunt with a funny face "Im your only niece! " Elizabeth Lee and Rosemary broke into laughter at Evah's comment "alright Im off sweetheart be good! Evah smiled "bye momma! "
On Elizabeth's way to the school she saw a newcomer to hope valley in dress shirt with a vest he was walking down near the church "hello are you new here?" Elizabeth said to the man"Hi yes I am, I actually am the schoolteachers new helper here do you know where I might find her?"
"Well you found her." Elizabeth giggles, Lucas started laughing "haha sorry, I'm Lucas Bouchard.. "
"Elizabeth Thornton nice to have you mr Bouchard! " Lucas looked up at Elizabeth "yes it's a quaint but beautiful little town.." Elizabeth just smiled "yes it is.. I'll walk in with you"
Throughout the day Lucas spent time getting used to the town of hope valley and Elizabeth noticed he had quite an interest in English and writing. When the kids were called for recess Elizabeth thought it might be a good time to learn some more about Lucas.
Elizabeth walked up to him when he was reading a book and took a seat next to him. "A thriller huh" Lucas looked up "yes, one of my favourites and you?"
"Romance" she said "you like romance " Lucas said giggling "yes what's so funny about that!"
"It's justโฆ" he started to reply "they are to sappy for my liking." Elizabeth smirked "seriously. Have you ever been In love? " Lucas was shocked by the question "umm no and don't plan on it.. " Elizabeth shook her head "I see no luck huh." Lucas just stared at her till he had a answer "I've had girlfriends and said I love you but never actual love ." With Elizabeth just about to reply the bell to come in was rang and they carried on with school.
At the end of the day Elizabeth was cleaning up and Lucas walked over to her from his desk "I'm sorry if I went a bit into detail earlier I'm a chatterbox " Elizabeth smiled "no it's okay I asked.."
"Well truth is I have a daughter named kenzie with an ex of mine but she left us both"
Elizabeth bit her lip "I have a daughter too Evah is her name, my husband jack her father he passed away in a land slide before she was born" Lucas felt sorry and just stood there eventually he said something "I'm so sorry for your loss.." Elizabeth took her basket and started walking " it's okay I've had 5 years to move on.." Lucas shut the door behind them as they walked outside "well I should be going"
As Lucas started to walk away Elizabeth called out "I'm sorry Lucas that your relationship with Kenzie's mother didn't work out.. but god has a plan for everyone.. " Lucas gave a quick glance and both of them left the area.
Elizabeth headed to Rosemarys and once she walked to the door Evah attached herself to her legs "mommy! How was your day!" Elizabeth smiled and picked up Evah "it was very good how was yours?"
"Very very good! We baked cookies!" Elizabeth kissed Evah's head and put her down "why don't you go play while I talk to auntie Rosemary?"
"Okay mom" Evah said as she sat down to play.
Rosemary and Elizabeth sat down at the table with some cookies Evah and Rosemary baked earlier "so how was your first day back!" Rosemary asked "it was very good. I met the new student teacher.." Rosemary was intrigued by this information "how was he or she?"
"He was nice but seems he's very bare inside.."
Rosemary tilted her head "how so?"
"Well he's got a daughter named kenzie and he's never been in love.. so he says"
"Well then.. does he talk much?"
"Yes he's quite a talker and a reader.. just not romance" they both giggled "well I'd suggest that maybe you just get to know him more maybe don't talk about relationships.." Elizabeth smiled "I can do that" with the time getting late with their conversation kenzie and Elizabeth left after that and went home.
Elizabeth got Evah in her pj's and put a blanket over her in bed "would you like a story?"
"Can we read Robin Hood !" Elizabeth started laughing "we always read this one!"
"It's my favourite" Elizabeth put a big grin on her face "I know and of course we can read this one" Elizabeth started reading and after a few pages in Evah was fast asleep, Elizabeth shut the light out and closed the door she then headed to her room to catch some sleep too.
