Shawn's life was boring, repetitive and utterly pointless, he had no goals and had no reason to live, the most enjoyment he'd ever felt was watching anime and reading manga as a child but those days were long gone.
There was an extremely simple pattern. Wake up at 6:00, get ready till 6:30, work eight and a half long hours in a low paying office job, Half watch a small tv screen displaying the news about people dying and politics but he really just questioned life, this happened for two hours till till 5:00, work out to 7:00 in his one room apartment with cheap near broken equipment that he found someone selling second-hand, get ready for bed by eating dinner, showering, dressing in board shorts and t shirt and brush teeth, fall into the void of unconscious at 8:30.
About an hour through his journey to see something worth caring about on the news and... Bang! A lightning bolt hit very close, he heard it especially because all his windows were wide open, he now knew why there was a cold breeze.
He got up off the couch and slowly walked to each window pushing them shut before moving to the next, some windows had puddles so he got some towels and threw one on top of each puddle and pushed it around to completely dry up the water.
Finishing this he sat down once more and began thinking to himself about virtually nothing in a daze. He started feeling drowsy so he lied down and put the lounge cushion underneath his head.
He closed his eyes and began fading out but then he woke up before dozing of once more, after cycling through this he managed to force himself to sleep.
He managed to sleep for a couple minutes until... Bang! In less than the blink of an eye a massive lightning bolt ripped through the two floors above him and directly struck Shawn.
The only person able to see this and not vomit their stomach up were true military veterans. Fried flesh, baked bones and boiled blood was spread on the wall, the floor and the roof.
Flames scorched the building eating away at all within the vicinity of the building. The vicious roars were only ended when everything around became nothing around.
Uncountable hours later Shawn woke up to find nothing awaited him but pitch-black void, as he tried to move he realised it was if he was submerged in some form of breathable liquid, he didn't understand why anything currently occurring is occurring.
The office worker confusedly swam around trying to understand his current situation until a blinding white screen scorched his eyes but began getting dimmer until it was acceptable.
A loud feminine voice appeared "Welcome to the warp-space, from this area you will be capable of entering any anime of manga you wish" There was a three second pause "Do you have any questions before continuing?"
Shawn scratched his head "How and Why am I here exactly?"
"Originally you were a test subject for a powerful military, Subject 40969911459039726272937592 from the Great War Lord Experiment and it was the first success. You were deployed 512 times to 32 different locations until you received a cut from a trained mercenary using a one of a kind knife infused with the venom and toxins of African and Australian Wildlife as well as condensed mercury and lead" The voice paused
"Knowing you were now vulnerable and their secrets were in danger they brainwashed you and weakened you extensively before having you genetically modified to replace another person as a 16 year old, they then began work on some form of weapon to erase you from the living plain" A pause once more
"They tried thing after thing as you slept for 25 years until they discovered a way to trap lightning in a circuit, during the storm you were witnessing, thirteen bolts were collected and dropped upon you. This was of course after they drugged you at breakfast ready to die"
Shawn's was completely dumbstruck, if this were true he'd been living a lie for 25 years. He gazed around only to realise all the words said were on the white screen in big black words. The only word he was able to say was "Damn"
"Would you like to continue with the tutorial?"
It took several seconds before he broke out of the daze he found himself in "Uhhh oh Yes"
"After you fully complete a story line you will be allowed one item or ability from the story to have permanently" A three second pause "Do you have any questions before continuing?"
Not wanting to delay anything or have anymore bombshells dropped he quickly responded "None"
"Okay please press the randomise button in front of you" Just as this was said a button that was obviously a shuffle type button appeared to which Shawn clicked without hesitation "You have received Pokémon: I Choose You, Story Type =Movie, this can be found in inventory shelf behind you"
Shawn turned and saw a desk with the cover image of the movie engraved in a shape that was reminiscent of a 3DS cartridge "Touch it and a screen will appear confirming you want to enter, click confirm to finish the tutorial and enter your first story" Shawn touched it and a rectangular screen appeared which he pressed confirm on.
He stood confused for a second before he blacked out, he woke up three minutes later to hear a feminine voice "Ash, wake up your late to Professor Oak's"
Shawn opened his eyes and realised what was going on so he quickly got dressed and went to the lab, his plan was to follow the story line till Ash receives the rainbow wing from Ho Oh.

He rushed to Oak's lab only to be told the three starter Pokémon were taken. He then was given Pikachu who was feisty and unwilling to be Ash's (Shawn) pet until a bird Pokémon appears which Ash hits with a rock causing an entire flock of them to a appear. Pikachu defends Ash from them and when they are safe once more Ho Oh, a mythical Pokémon drops a feather called the rainbow wing enabling Ash to fight Ho Oh.
Knowing Pikachu was currently extremely weak Ash went over to route 1 and began farming the local Pokémon such as pidgey, bellsprout, oddish and rattata.
After an entire day of battling Pikachu was covered in scratches and bruises so Ash took him to the poke centre in Viridian city and had him healed, Ash estimated he'd beaten enough creatures to be at least level eight.
An outline of the plan was to go through the routes and collect strength before going to Saffron city and grabbing a master ball, then he'd go to Mount Tensei, summon Ho-Oh and catch it thus having the storyline end.
Ash continued to route 2 which had him now seeing Pokémon up to level five and seeing caterpie and weedle, another full day of grinding on this route to the point he was two hitting everything.
Seeing the scratches and complaints build up on Pikachu's end he ran back for a heal at Viridian city poke centre before realising he needed a place to stay.
He went around finding newbie trainers to fight for some cash and made it to a hotel at nightfall, he walked up to the man managing the front desk "A room for 1 please"
"How many nights will you be staying?" The man replied in a human way that surprised Ash, he thought they'd be a bunch of robotic NPCs since this was the first person other than nurse joy he'd met.
"Just the one thanks" Ash replied, the man clicked keys on his computer for some time before handing over a key and a sticky note with the room number on it.
When he began searching for his room he noticed a vending machine with some candy as well as pokeballs, great-balls and ultra-balls, all were decently priced.
With his remaining money, Ash bought two pokeballs and a great ball before walking away and continuing the search for the room.
When the room was finally reached Ash collapsed with Pikachu in his arms onto the bed instantly and that's where they stayed until ten o'clock the next morning.
After procrastinating for half an hour they got up and headed out toward Viridian Forest where they fought creatures till sundown.
Neither could be bothered going back so they just laid down and rested, this peaceful sleep was interrupted by an angry buzzing, when they opened their eyes they saw a furious beedrill flying toward them.
By this point Pikachu was level 12 and had Electroball, Nuzzle and quick attack, Ash decided to go for a quick attack to only weaken the beedrill as it had a 1% chance of appearing here and Ash wasn't going to miss it "Pikachu, weak quick attack"
Pikachu nodded and dashed forward, heavily damaging the beedrill "Pika Pika" Ash quickly threw a Pokeball toward it to which it was too badly damaged to defend against.
Seeing as it was still nighttime they quickly went back to sleep and rested for several more hours.
When they woke up they agreed to go straight to Pewter City when he got there he noticed several quite strong pidgey, pidgeotto and one or two Pidgeot.
Ash just heads straight to the poke centre to get Beedrill healed, the interesting thing about the naturally appearing Beedrill was that it shouldn't have evolved yet.
Looking at its abilities, he saw it had Poison Sting and Fury Attack which were both very useful for his plan.
In this world, there is no need to take turns attacking so he can quickly attack a Pokémon with Poison Sting and Nuzzle to inflict poison and Paralysis before beating it with Electro Ball which does extra damage thanks to the slowing of the Pokémon and Fury Attack which will mercilessly beat down the injured creature.
Route 3 saw bug types disappear and spearow, sandshrew, Ekans and Mankey take their place.
Sandshrew was Ash's next goal, it could use sand to attack and blind others causing less accuracy.
Ash's plan was quite a sly one. To get a master ball he must defeat Team Rocket and save the company in possession of them so instead of wasting time fighting the Pokémon he'd just attack the people and knock them out before tying them up thus meeting the requirements.
Sandshrew had a 20% appearance chance so it only took 10 minutes of Pikachu and Beedrill double-teaming all the creatures insight for exp.
When it appeared Pikachu ran forward and used Nuzzle effectively paralysing it before using a quick attack to knock it out.
They went back to Pewter City and bought a low-level candy to which they fed Sandshrew barely healing it before Ash used the other regular pokeball to capture it.
They stopped off quickly at a poke centre to get it healed up and continued grinding levels, Route 3 would no longer be the same for quite a long time.
Ash began his journey to mt. moon but at the entrance, there was a man selling items, Ash searched through the items and saw something of use, the binding band. He also noticed multiple poke, great and ultra balls.
Ash searched and realised he didn't have money so he turned around and signalled an Electroball from Pikachu who delivered, instantly killing the shopkeeper.
Ash took the balls and band before digging a hole and dropping the body and its belongings into it, Ash then covered it up and went on his merry way.
He entered the cave and began searching for creatures, the first to appear was a Zubat which Beedrill poisoned and Ash caught then they began annihilating both Pokémon and Team Rocket characters.
They were now in agreement that electric fried Paras mushrooms tastes quite nice, they were sitting down and eating the mushrooms when a shaking occurred and out came onix which Pikachu and Beedrill attacked with Sandshrew sitting this one out.
Pikachu was the NVP and gained 1 and a half levels from defeating it sitting him at 15, Beedrill at 12 and sandshrew at 8.
Ash fed the unconscious onix a candy and quickly captured it before moving on out of the cave only to find it was night time and Ash realised that he should have captured a Paras for its poison powder and stun spore skills.
He quickly ran back in with sandshrew and had it roll out a level 10 paras which he captured with a pokeball before leaving once more.
With Pikachu annihilating every being around they quickly entered Cerulean City where he rushed to the poke centre and healed all six of his Pokémon.
He then headed straight to route 5 where they collectively used skills to bully creatures above them. By midday, they'd all reached 14 and above with Pikachu on 18.
He directly entered Saffron city and had his Pokémon healed.
Ash was exploring Saffron City till he found the location and entered seeing Team Rocket grunts everywhere and one sitting behind a desk.
He quickly got Pikachu to take them out to prevent alerts from getting out then he had para use poison powder and stun spore to force people to be damaged heavily and knocked unconscious, he had purchased rope and s gas mask earlier to tie up people without breathing it in.
He swept the halls knocking out and tying up everyone until he reached Giovanni who was alarmed by his presence and was quickly about to release his Pokémon when Pikachu dashed forward and nuzzled in the nick of time before handing him over to Zubat who inflicted him with confusion, they then realised the CEO "Thank you so much young man"
Ash quickly passed him a gas mask "No problem"
"I'd like to repay you, come with me" Just as planned Ash was led out and given a master ball "This is our cancelled project, a ball capable of capturing any Pokémon, I call it the Master Ball"
"Thank you" Ash quickly walked away and pulled out the rainbow wing which began glowing in a direction which he took, this journey took days upon end until he reached the peaks and was confronted by Cross
"Hand over the feather, fool"
"I'd prefer not" Ash gases him before placing the feather and having the majestic bird appear and swoop at Ash who quickly threw the ball capturing Ho-Oh.
"Ding! Ding! Ding! Storyline complete, choose an item or ability to keep" Ash grabbed Ho Oh's ball and it registered "Ability Saved, Summon Ho-Oh: A level 100 Ho-Oh will appear and will serve you, it will have all moves learnt through level up"
Ash saw black before finding himself in the room once more with the shuffle button in front of him "Is there anything you wish to know?" The voice asked sounding slightly more human
"How come after I murdered someone and killed multiple Pokémon I was still able to use the wing?"
"For assumed personalities, they remain the same"
Ash waited before realising nothing more was being said and clicking the button "You have received Naruto, Story Type = Show, this can be found on the inventory shelf behind you"
Turning around he saw that Pokémon was dark and a three but another one with the Naruto logo was there which he touched and got the confirmation message but then he got a question reading 'Live as Naruto or Sasuke'
He quickly weighed the pros and cons and chose Sasuke, the Sharingan is much better in the long run.
And in he went.
