CHAPTER 1
March 14-15 2020
They said it would be a week, Weeks turn to months. Months turn to years. Years turn to decades, especially when I am in school. On March 14th, our teacher told us that we have a half day tomorrow. Everyone started yelling and screaming because we have a half day on Friday. For them, it was awesome. The thing they didn't know was that they would be yelling and screaming for another reason; They did not know the world itself would collapse and everything would change in an instant. They did not know that when the time comes, mistakes will be made, and there would be a price to pay.
Life will never be the same.
But no one knew that, so they kept on celebrating.
11 years later
It was graduation. After years of being online and in school, years of struggling and torture, this was the day where we would finally be free. For now. Everyone was excited. Jason and Pedro were looking a little green, and were either sick or nervous. It was a little suspicious, but we never could have imagined what happened next. A few of my friends were called up and they did their speech. I was surprisingly impressed. Jason and Pedro were called and then they did their speeches with a lot of screaming and grunts. Everyone laughed because they thought it was some sort of prank. That's when all hell broke loose. The doors to the auditorium broke and glass shattered and kids, and adults alike were screaming and running away. I was confused and went to check on everyone. I saw more green people, whilst Pedro and Jason were biting people. All I could hear was screaming. I ran to the mic, grabbed it, unplugged it and started using the chord as a Garrote Wire. I was dead scared, but I ran away to the waiting people in the other room. Out of a sudden panic I threw the mic at the window and yelled " Run!"
It's happening. I waited for people to realize but then they broke down the door and that got them moving. They all bolted for the broken window I got out after and they all got into their cars and drove off. I left my car there and bolted to mobile and grabbed water and food for the journey home. I threw it into my bag and biked home in 10 minutes cutting through the woods and parking lots which is usually a fifteen or 20 minute drive. I was going down hill and heard screaming and gunshots. I was confused because it takes a few hours for the apocalypse to spread but maybe it was from all the other people who got infected and I hoped my family was safe along with the other people out there. I pulled into my driveway and saw glass shattered and windows boarded up. I broke the boards at the door and I walked in. I saw "them". I ran upstairs, grabbed a bag and stuffed a few cargo shorts and shirts and some pants. I quickly jumped down the stair and ran to the basement sorted through the totes and grabbed my dads dagger and ran to the back room and grabbed my bow and arrows along with a mountain bike and biked back to my grandmother's house when I got there I was shocked to see a bunch of kids there with guns shooting zombies I ran around the back to see a group of highschoolers pale and confused they looked at me and I was confused on who they were it took a few minutes to realize who they were. They used to be on the basketball team before a horrible incident happened that cost their career.
Flashback
I was watching the game when I saw someone run in looking pale and he pulled the fire alarm but no sooner it happened. All I heard was an explosion and screaming. My ears were ringing. I felt a searing hot pain in my back and a warm sticky liquid running down my back. I heard sirens in the distance but I knew it was a lot worse. I looked around and saw people with ripped clothing and dust infected wounds. They were bleeding heavily. Students, parents and teachers alike were scared and confused. I heard footsteps and people talking. I tried getting up but pain flared in my back. I realized I was under a metal beam that holds up the part of the gym ceiling along with three others. People were yelling for help and then I heard running and then people were being picked up and taken out of the gym there were at least 200 people here I was the last person to be taken out or so I thought I was trying to go back in but couldn't because I was being held back by police and fire while being checked on but I didn't care I shrugged off and ran back into the stuff were my friend was still buried. I heard her muffled screams. I Lifted as much rubble off of her as I could when I got help from the rescue team. She was rushed to the hospital with a minor concussion and a broken leg along with a broken wrist. The basketball team got it way worse. They had broken legs, wrists and arms. They all had mior to medium concussions and one of them died.
I still remember the fact that pieces of the ceiling fell and crashed down on our heads. It was like the sky was falling.
I ran out front Unslung my bow and shot a few zombies before making my way to the school. At this point everyone had left and the school parking lots were depleted. I saw a few kids there but not many. I ran to my grandmothers and told the other kids we are going back to the school and it is our bunker for now. The basement would be the best place to find supplies we ran there and quickly ran to the door. I scanned the door from the special key that teachers are given that I stole a few weeks ago. I made a few calls to see if people were still alive and I told them where we were. Every hour there were families and kids alike coming to the school and we checked them for bites from the zombies. There were a lot of little kids and families but mainly a bunch of twelfth graders that ran when it happened. It's been 5 months since the outbreak. More and more people have come to the school along with a bunch of kids from my town and Mansfield high school. The adults left with their kids to go and find a military base to have more protection. There were about 60 highschoolers from ninth to twelfth grade and a mixed number of kids from sixth to eighth grade. But we all got along fine. The main people in charge were Me, Katie, and James. We were also the best with a variety of weapons from bows to machine guns along with swords and daggers. We all have had no sleep in weeks from zombie attacks mainly to this school. We were aso running low on food and supplies. They all told me to go to sleep and I happily obliged.
