Chapter 1
Having been up all night with this damn cough combined with the fact that it felt like she'd been hit by a freight truck Chrissy suffice to say was not in any sort of mood to talk to anyone she felt absolutely miserable and her friends had been blowing up her phone nonstop all morning.
Her coughing got so bad she didn't hear her father clear his throat until he tried a second time. She gasped "Dad be careful, I don't want you to get sick!" Her father merely smiled and said "Your my little girl, I care more about taking care of you then this damn virus so don't worry about me." Chrissy forced a small smile "just like with Mom you always put her first before yourself I wish she was here to help me calm down with the song she used to sing to me before I went to bed. You know."
Clay sat down on the bed and stroked Chrissy's hair "your mother is still with you she's with both of us I know it s hard but I'm sure she would want us to be strong through this and for you to get your rest" Clay gently kissed Chrissy s forehead "you are the best thing next to your mother that I have." Chrissy teared up "Dad I could never be as amazing as mom"
Clay held Chrissy s hands "yes you are you are just as amazing as your mother you re a lot like her you remind me of her you have her heart and that fiery spirit of hers I love you so much" Clay kissed Chrissy s forehead again Chrissy smiled thoughtfully. "I love you too dad I always will"
Several weeks later feeling much better then she had been in over a week Chrissy figured it was time to get out of the house and treat herself, of course she had to sneak by her dad who warned her it was still too soon to go out. If he caught her she wouldn't be able to leave the house until she was 40. She understood where his overprotective nature came from sure but that didn't mean it wasn't a pain sometimes.
Slowly prying open the window she flinched when she thought she heard him coming down the hallway and froze for a minute it was only until she heard his snoring from the other bedroom that she dared make a move. As she was making her grand escape she could see her friend Johnny's truck behind the gate. She made sure to have them park far enough to where the cameras couldn't see him. As soon as she got past the gate and close enough she could see Ash in the front seat and waived. "Boy that was close" she finally said as she threw her guitar into the backseat and hopped in.
She could see Ash smirking out of the corner of her eye as she said "I still don't understand why you have to sneak out like this just tell him the truth he'll understand." "No He wouldn't" Chrissy shot back, "you don't know my dad like I do. Ever since we lost my mom he's refused to give me any sort of leeway and if I try to talk to him about giving me room to do my own thing he completely changes the subject." They were now out of the driveway and crossing onto the main road where Chrissy started sliding back and forth in the backseat, she hadn't had time to put her shoes on in the house so now she was shoving her combat boots onto her feet and also trying to hold onto her guitar to make sure nothing happened to it, it was the last thing her mother gave her before she passed and she rarely took it out unless she and Ash had a gig or were planning on heading over to the theater where her uncle buster moon and the rest of the gang were rehearsing.
He liked to have her perform in front of everyone if they were having a bad day and needed cheering up and she was all to glad to do it. "What do you think Johnny?" Snapping out of her thoughts momentarily she looked over at Johnny who'd been unusually quiet, when he didn't respond Ash tried again and pretended to knock on his head "Hello, earth to Johnny" That seemed to snap him out of his stupor. "I'm sorry what?" popping a potato chip in her mouth Ash continued to stare at him "Nothing it just looked like you were off in another world."
He gave her a sheepish look "Oh sorry," "Its all good, it happens." Chrissy gave a small chuckle "Anyway enough about my dad problems what's going on with you guys?" As Ash began talking about this new song she was writing Chrissy could see Johnny clenching the steering wheel. There was definitely something up with him and she was going to figure it out. One way. Or another.
