Lost Sister
Lady Countryrose
Ch. 1
Hermione Granger was afraid, as tears leaked down her cheek. As her eyes lost focus, after seeing Harry Potter being carried into the courtyard by Hagrid. While Lord Voldemort laughed at the disbelief that came from the occupants of Castle Hogwarts. She barely heard the scream of Ginny Weasley, who was being held back by her father. Only to feel Ronald Weasley, stumbling next to her.
She felt Neville Longbottom, walking past her. But the sound of her heart beating against her ears. Her sight, seeing hints of shadows. Only to have one thought, 'Not Harry, anyone, but not Harry.'
She wanted to scream for the Dark Lord to shut up. Burn the snake and kill the vapor of the man. But no matter how much she tried, her body wouldn't move.
"Ms. Hermione Granger," she heard his snake like voice. Causing her to look up and focus on the red-eyed monster. "Harry Potter may have been the hero of the Wizarding World. But we all know that you were the brains." Only to have her tears rushed down her cheeks.
"Where were you, when he came to me in the forest?" Lord Voldemort had taken a step towards her. "Where were you, when he died at my feet?" He took another step. Causing Hermione to shiver in anger and despair. "Where were you, when the world had crumbled at your feet?"
She felt something was placed in her hand. Something hard and cold. Making her hand to wrap around it, holding on tight.
"Where were you, when he begged for you to come?"
Something inside of Hermione had snapped. She picked up the cold, hard, steel and raised it over her head. Her eyes flashed with controlled anger that she was willing to unleash. "I was waiting for you to come, so I could do this!"
With one fluid motion, she had chopped the head off of his beloved snake. She then turned into a full turn, bringing the sword close to her. Before slashing out from her, stabbing him in the gut, as soon as she turned towards him. As soon as the blade slashed into him, he raised his hands and grabbed onto her wrists. His red eyes turned blue.
"Granger," he whimpered softly. "If…you go back, what…would you…do…different?"
"Everything," the words ripped out of her mouth. Not really understanding what he was saying. But her heart came through then. She would have changed everything, starting with a life for Harry.
Lord Voldemort chuckled, before speaking in a tongue that Harry would have understood. Just as, something was clamped on her left wrist. Causing her to glance down. It was a solid silver wristband, with a few Rune symbols. Hermione gasped, as she felt electricity rush through her veins.
A snake like speech had sounded from his lips. As he brought her closer to him. Causing the blade to dig deeper, oozing blood onto her hands. "Time and death…waits for no one." Only to feel his lips onto hers, just as the wristband had started to glow.
The people within the courtyard were blinded, before they could see again. Only to find Lord Voldemort's body becoming ashes and Hermione Granger gone.
"HERMIONE!" A few had called out in despair. None knew what had come of her, before the world had followed after Lord Voldemort, as everyone and everything, was swept away with the wind.
"Do you know what has happened?" A ghostly voice asked, sounding despair for what has happened.
"The world as you've known it is gone, Harry Potter. You were there when you heard Tom Riddle had activated the magic, did you not?"
"That's the thing, why would he do that, when he had won?"
"Because, he wasn't supposed to win. Like you weren't supposed to die. But then again, Hermione wasn't from this time…"
Harry turned towards the person next to him with fear in his eyes. "What the Hell do you mean?"
"Hermione Granger was not born in 1979 like she had believed, but 1960. Someone had kidnapped her and brought her into the future. She was never meant to be your friend, Harry, but your aunt. Your mother's sister."
Harry gaped at the information that he was given. "What does that supposed to mean? Why would someone take a muggleborn child?"
The man laughed, shaking his head. "People fear two muggleborn children from one family. Believing that they are extra powerful than the pureblooded ones."
"Okay, answer this, how did Tom Riddle know about Hermione being from 1960 then?"
The man sighed, "Because he was the one that sent Hermione here and set her up with the Grangers. He never thought that she would ever fight against him. Only to use her as a fail-safe, if something had happened to him."
"Why would he care," growled Harry. "And why did he give her his gifts before sending her off?"
"Lily's mother, Rose Evans, is Tom Riddle's twin sister. The one that never had gone off to Hogwarts, since she had no magic. Only giving Lily and Hermione the magic that skipped her. Not many people knew that Tom had a sister, but he had protected her from the orphanage, at least when he was not at the school."
Harry blinked a couple of times. "He still killed my mother."
The man had taken a deep breath. "He gave Lily a choice to stand aside, but she wouldn't move. She knew that he was her uncle too. Remembering him as he visited her mother, but never told anyone, not even Albus Dumbledore."
"Why," asked Harry with despair in his voice.
"Because she thought that he could be changed. Hoping his love for his sister would help, only to cause him pain. Not telling her where her third daughter had gone off to. Eating away their relationship, causing Tom to drift away from his sister."
"What's going on," gasped Harry, as he saw his ghostly form had started to fade away.
"Hermione has just reached her proper time. Whatever had happened here has no longer happened, resetting time. You, Harry Potter, are no longer dead. But a nightmare that never was."
"Death!" Harry fearfully gasped out. "What do I do now?"
"Live," the man had smiled at Harry. Just as Harry and many others had faded back into the new world of time. "Just live." Only to see an older Hermione wandering the halls, in her teacher robes. While many students were rushing to get into classes, and not running from the vapors of war.
Death smirked, as he turned away from the school. "The world has righted itself, at last." Then he faded away. He had a tea date with someone that he didn't want to be late for.
