(Sinbad's P.O.V.)
I heard Spike's loud whines amongst Marina's groans of pain as I stared at Eris, having heard Rosi's proclamation that Marina's water broke. I took a deep breath, looked inside myself, and thought hard about the twins, my twin kids, and nodded to Eris, sincerely and clearly confessing out loud.
"You, Eris, the Goddess of Chaos and Discord, is the most powerful and greatest Goddess of all the known world and Mount Olympus, forever and ever!", I proclaimed, with the very gesture Eris did as well, but without blood, crossing my heart with a finger through my clothes.
Eris looked at me intensely for a long minute, and then nodded with a half-impressed smirk, "Great, and I have a mess to clean up. Rather not want it to happen here. Fine..Sinbad, take her outside.", and then with a snap of her fingers, I then saw nothing for a moment before I recognized the island below us, and I heard Marina gasping near me.
I grabbed into her, and immediately, before we met ground, some power of Eris was gracious to let us land on our feet instead of landing on all fours like the first time. I glanced to see the gates of Tartarus closing up, barely noticing Proteus helping Rosi up as I focused on Marina who gasped and groaned, clenching into my shirt while Spike barked and whined near us, with all the boxes piled up in one corner of the island.
I can feel her baby bump constrict against my body, and I spoke urgently, "Breathe, Marina, breathe through it. You're a tough woman.", rubbing her back, feeling so much tension on her spine and everything. Marina glared at me half-angrily, "Speak for yourself! You're not the one who is in labor and is to give birth to twins, no less!".
I winced lightly, and I attempted to joke, half missing how she looked when angry, so hot and fierce at the same time, "You're scary like a lioness, you know? No bite, all claws?", as I helped her walk a bit, and Marina snapped, "No time to joke like this, Sinbad!", before groaning as she nearly fell down.
I grabbed into her arms, looking at her, "Marina!", anxious and afraid, and Marina looked up at me with tears breaking free, "Sinbad...I'm scared...", whispering to me. I kissed her gently on the lips, "I'm here with you. I'm scared too, but we gotta be brave for our kids, hmm?".
Marina nodded softly before gasping out loud, "It hurts!", as Rosi and Proteus came over, with Rosi shouting at Proteus, "You stand at that side of her, and Sinbad, stay there! We're in for the long haul sooner or later.", ripping Proteus's coat off, laying it down on the firmer section of the island, "Help her get down.".
I locked eyes with Proteus, and he nodded, the glint of determination in his eyes, and I smiled, glad to have my best friend, and we gently helped Marina lay down on the makeshift blanket as Rosi helped get Marina's trousers off, laying it across her waist and legs, checking Marina.
"You're only halfway dilated, Marina. Just breathe and relax between contractions, alright? When you feel pressure, tell me immediately, okay?", Rosi spoke urgently. Marina nodded, "Got it. When this is done, Sinbad, I ain't letting you touch me ever again!", glaring at me.
I widened my eyes and glanced over at Proteus who gave me an amused, sympathetic smile, and I half-rolled my eyes, but went to focus on Marina, hearing Spike whine and pace. It was both unnerving and yet peaceful through the next two hours, and it was strange that I haven't seen sight nor heard sound of the Chimera.
Marina suddenly clenched my hand so tight, "Ah, I have to push, Rosi!", and Rosi checked down there, and with a smile, "Yep, you're all dilated. Push, Marina, and breathe between pushes, understand?". Marina nodded, and looked at me with a half-excited, half-nervous smile, biting her lip, and I smiled, kissing her temple, "You can do it, Marina.".
Marina panted, taking a deep breath, and brought her chin down as she grunted, pushing, feeling the blood vanish from my hand, but I didn't care as this is actually happening...I'm to be a father! She pushed repeatedly between brief breaks through the next hour as I or Proteus helped reassure her that she's doing great.
Rosi checked occasionally, and then at the recent one, she gave a laugh, "It's crowning! I can see the top of its head!", and I gasped, widening my eyes, looking at Marina, "You hear that, Marina? Our first one's coming!", smiling so widely that my cheeks hurt.
Marina nodded, sobbing, "Finally! God, it burns so much!", giving short pushes at Rosi's order, and Rosi smiled, "The head's out! Okay, two more big pushes, and then you have your first baby!", and Marina looked at me, "You ain't leaving me, right?".
I smiled gently, kissing her eyes and nose, "I'm not going anywhere, my Co-Captain.", and Marina smiled tearfully before taking a deep breath, and pushed, screaming out in pain, and Rosi called out, "That's it! Oh, it's a girl! I got her!", as Marina took another breath and pushed, and then I heard one of the most wonderful sounds in the world...
I see a wiggling, red-faced, wailing baby in Rosi's arms as it gave out a loud cry, the first breath of life, and I then exhaled as I realized that it was my daughter...my firstborn daughter...I took off my hat, "Here, that gotta keep her warm.", my heart swelling so much as my daughter slowly settled down as Rosi took it, tucking my daughter into my hat...Gods, she's so precious and small..
Rosi then happily handed her over to me, "Here you go, new daddy.", and I gulped, but followed her instructions and soon, my daughter laid in my arms, snuffling and whimpering. I stared at her in awe and love...She has a few thick strands of hair that is like a shade lighter of brown than Marina's dark brownish-black hair, her skin is a pearl tan tone, her nose is like mine, and her eyes...they're dark blue like mine...
Marina's voice faintly called out to me, "Sinbad, she's perfect...", and I glanced at Marina who's sweaty, close to being tired, but there's a glow about her, and I realize that she's a mother too...I smile warmly, "She sure is...I already got a name for her...".
"What is it?", Marina curiously smiled, her eyes affectionate and motherly, and I chuckle, "Neoma...She's born under a new moon...", and Marina blinked in surprise, looking up at the stars, and sure enough, there's a sign of a barely glimpsed moon, starting to be newly born into a full moon within a couple of weeks.
Marina then looked back at me, and glanced at our daughter, "It's perfect...Our Neoma...", before gasping and shouting out in pain, and Proteus looked at Rosi, "What's happening?!".
Rosi chuckled, "Turns out we don't have to wait. Your other kid is on its way.", grinning, and I blinked in surprise before nodding. Right, we still got another baby to get born. Neoma fussed and cried in my arms, and I shushed her reassuringly, "It's okay, Nema, your mother's having your sibling.".
Then Spike barked furiously, prancing and hopping on his legs, his tail whipping through the air, and we all look in his direction, and I laugh, seeing the Chimera. "The ship!". Marina groaned lightly, "Please tell me that I can be moved to the cabin, Rosi! Night's falling, and I don't want Neoma to catch a chill!".
Rosi nodded, "Yes, and we must hurry! Sinbad, you're stronger than any of us, you carry Marina.", and I nod, gently passing Neoma into Proteus's arms, "Uncle Proteus, meet your niece while I pick up my wife.", with a grin.
With much careful use of my legs, I gently and quickly picked up my wife bride style, smiling at her, "Hang in there, Marina. We'll be in the cabin faster than a slippery fish on deck!", seeing the Chimera getting closer with Spike barking to get their attention, hearing shouts among voices as they pulled out the ramp as they sided-boarded the shallow end of the waters on the island.
We all quickly get on, while I order the crew to pick up the boxes and put them into storage and called out for Kale to assist as Marina clenched into my shirt, groaning as I knew she's experiencing contractions again. We made it to my cabin, to my bed, gently laying Marina down as I sat behind her.
She's bound to be exhausted at the end of it, so she needs more support than a simple pillow, and Proteus waited on the other side of the room with Neoma, while Rosi checked on Marina, with Kale fetching water and blankets from the galley and the tiny storage closet.
Rosi blinked in shock, "By the gods, it's already crowning! I see a bit of its head! Okay, remember what I told you before, Marina, breaths between pushes.", and I held into Marina, my hands holding into her shoulders as her hands clenched into the sheets, "You can do this, Marina. I'm right here.".
Marina nodded, and took a deep breath, and went to work, laboring as Kale returned back inside with a bowl of water and a bundle of blankets. I heard Marina's shouts of pain as the baby's head is coming through, and Rosi nodded, "Almost there, Marina! Yes, the head's out! Oh, shit! The cord's wrapped around the neck!".
Marina cried out, "What?! No, no, please, save her! Do something!", tears falling as my heart pounded in fear, feeling helpless as Rosi and Kale went to check on the baby, and I felt Marina turning into my chest, sobbing. I was mute, feeling scared, unknowing what to do.
Then I heard it...A baby crying, and I looked up, feeling Marina snap back to stare too, and Kale looked relieved, "Knew that my big fingers was good for something.", before Rosi nodded, "The baby's freed of the cord, but keep pushing, you got the shoulders and body to push.".
Marina sobbed, looking up at me, "They saved her...", and I smiled tearfully, "They did. Come on, you heard Rosi, give our new baby room to move.". Marina then took a deep breath, grunting as she pushed out the shoulders one by one, and then shouted as she pushed again for the rest of the body.
Rosi laughed heartily, "Looks like you're right, Marina! It's another girl!", and I saw the baby squirming, wiggling, and wailing as Kale handed her a wet blanket to clean my second baby, my second daughter. I widened my eyes as I realized something and looked down at Marina.
"You knew, didn't ya, my love?", I grinned, and Marina looked up at me with a chuckle, "Yep, long before this. Eris was gracious to check on me when I first arrived in Tartarus.", with a groan as she then pushed out the afterbirth.
Proteus came over with Neoma in his arms, crying out, reaching out for Marina, and Marina chuckled, "Oh, I know. You're hungry, but first, let us have a look at your sister, okay?", as Kale passed our second daughter into Marina's arms.
I exhaled, falling in love all over again as I stared in awe and happiness over the sight of my second kid...She got my medium brown hair in thick tufts, tan skin, Marina's nose and dark brown eyes. I smiled widely, "She's perfect, just like her sister...What are you gonna name her, Marina? I had my turn with Neoma.".
Marina hummed lightly, "You know, if it wasn't for Eris indirectly, we wouldn't have met each other or brought ourselves this far...That Roc bird...He reminded me of an eagle...I like the sound of Peta for our baby.", glancing up at me, and I thought about it, chuckling as memories flew through my mind of that peculiar adventure, and looked at Marina with a warm smile.
"Peta, I love it.", I commented sincerely, and Marina smiled brightly as our daughter, our Peta cried out, reaching for Marina's chest, and Proteus laughed warmly, "Here you go, Marina. Can't be the same without Neoma.", placing Neoma in Marina's other arm.
Kale chuckled, "Permission to sail off, Captain?", and I grinned, "No need to ask, Kale. Cast off.", and Kale nodded, "Aye, Sinbad, and oh, which one is my goddaughter?".
I shared a look with Marina, and Marina smiled warmly, "You saved Peta. She's your goddaughter, Kale. And Rosi, you're godmother of Neoma.". Rosi gasped, covering her mouth with her hands, "Truly?!".
I chuckled, "Yep, and oh, if you marry ole Proteus here, you're an aunt to those two imps then.", with a wink and smirk. Rosi blushed and glanced at Proteus who nervously rubbed his neck with a smile, chuckling, "We better leave the new family to themselves. I would use a drink myself.", and with nods of agreement, the trio left the cabin to allow us to have some quiet time, and of course, the twins to have their first dinner with Marina's help, and a bit of assistance from myself.
Sighing deeply as I laid my head on Marina's shoulder, gazing upon my daughters suckling from Marina's chest, "We made them...They're beautiful like you, Marina...", and Marina kissed my cheek softly, "They look like you too, my Captain...We're parents, Sinbad...We'll teach them so much...Show them the world, the seas, everything...".
I chuckled lightly, "And they will learn how to respect all the gods and goddesses. They will know the stories, even if they may be stubborn like us...", and Marina laughed heartily, "Don't forget hard-headed either. We actually did it, Sinbad...We're home now, with you and the crew...Our adventures are not over yet, that's for sure...", smiling as she looked down at our daughters.
I smiled warmly, "Somehow, I think you're actually right. Our lives ain't going to be the same ever again with those two imps around.", and our daughters gave out two burps as they finished dinner, and we shared a laugh before kissing and watching them go to sleep.
