Superman flew above the riots as they looked at him with awe and wonder. Then Superman turned towards them and his eyes glowed red as he was about to blast the crowd with his heat vision. Then, almost as if on cue, Batman and Wonder Woman made their way to the scene just in time to stop him. Batman jumped into action and pulled out his kryptonite knuckle bracer along with red solar bombs. One punch was enough to knock Superman down for a moment and then he got back up. Wonder Woman attempted to subdue Superman with her sword and shield, only to be knocked back and get up and through a slam down on Clark in an attempt to take him down.
As they both struggled to keep the man of steel down a figure watched the action take place from the shadows of a dark alley and its eyes glowed red. Suddenly Superman flew off into the distance with Wonder Woman and Batman following closely behind him. They wound up in the fortress of solitude where Clark went into hiding. "We need to find him" Batman said. "Agreed" Wonder Woman responded. "You start in the hall of weapons, and we'll make our way back to the entrance, let me know what you find" Batman said. With that, they were off and looking for him.
Batman ran down the hall where Clark had gone down, and Diana went down the hall of weapons. They began their search and looked up and down the fortress in search of their friend. As they looked around Bruce saw a piece of paper with a picture of a desert road leading to nowhere on it. Meanwhile Diana looked through the hall of weapons and as she looked up and down for the man, she once called husband Batman's words were still running through her head. Was she really wrong in how she raised Cassy? Were she and Clark a mistake? Perhaps they were but not all mistakes are bad and can bring good into the world. As she looked through the hall of weapons, she made her way into the main area where Clark did most of his resting after a long day.
Just then Batman called out to her to come look at something. Diana made her way to her other friend. "What's wrong?" She asked. "Look" Bruce showed the same gem that held the red kryptonite. "How did it get here?" Diana asked. "The question is who was carrying it last?" Batman looked at her. Diana gasped as they both remembered who. "We need to hurry and get Superman back to his old self, whatever 1K-ae-2L is planning, it's clear all this is distraction for him to do whatever he wants" Batman said. As he said this Superman broke through the wall, his eyes blazing with his heat vision. Both Wonder Woman and Batman got ready for battle with their friend.
Wonder Woman pulled out her sword and shield and Batman pulled out his kryptonite knuckle bracer. Superman threw a punch at Batman only for him to miss as Batman dodged. Batman threw a few smoke bombs at him as Diana came at Clark with her sword and shield. Using her shield, Diana punched Superman, knocking him down for a moment before Batman took out a red energy blaster that neutralized the red kryptonite in Superman. Moments later Clark awoke and was back to his old self. "Wha-what happened?" Superman asked, waking up. "You were infected with red kryptonite by 1K-ae-2L" Diana informed him. "He's still out there?" Superman stood up stumbling. "He is, but I think I may have tracked his location" Batman said.
Superman turned towards him. "Always one step ahead, what did you find?" Superman asked walking towards him. "According to the data I found on 1K-ae-2L, he was last spotted at mayor's office. Seems as though he wants private government intelligence?" Batman told them. "What would he do with that information?" Diana asked. "I'm not sure but we don't have much time. Do you think you'll be able to last tonight with what's been done to you Clark?" Batman asked, turning towards Superman. Superman looked down for a moment and then back at them. "I'll manage" Superman said. "Then let's go, we have no time to waste" Batman told them. They made their way to the mayor's office. The office was dark, and no one was in sight.
Superman looked around the office with his X-ray vision and Batman searched for clues. Wonder Woman analyzed the place, looking for signs of 1K-ae-2L. They continued their search until a blast of fire broke the large glass window of the office and sent the chandelier down to the ground causing it to break. There floating in the room above them all was 1K-ae-2L. "If any of you could have foreseen what was to come tonight you would not be here" 1K-ae-2L told them with a calm eerie evil smile. Superman lunged at 1K-ae-2L only to be thrown back against the wall. Wonder Woman and Batman came to help him up. "You should know one thing though, the men you met at the police station were agents for the government in my world, I am the head, the sword of the law" 1K-ae-2L declared. "You don't get to decide who lives and who dies" Superman stood up.
1K-ae-2L smirked at him as his feet touched the ground. "Maybe not, but soon I will" 1K-ae-2L. "What are you talking about?" Batman questioned. "Those who were at the police station, the men you were questioning, the riots, all I needed was a few moments and I got what I wanted" 1K-ae-2L finished. "Which is?" Batman questioned. "The moment you got distracted I set an interdimensional bomb amongst the people of this world and once it goes off..." 1K-ae-2L smirked and flew out of there. "We have to find that bomb and figure what it's capable of doing" Superman turned to his teammates. "Yes, but where do we start?" Wonder Woman asked. Batman thought for a moment and then looked at his teammates. "He came from another world, there is probably a chance that there are other versions of me and Diana there" Batman said
Superman looked down and saw a strange device lying on the ground. He picked it up and studied it for a moment and then he realized it was some type of recording device. As Clark held it, he realized a recording noise was coming from it. Sounds from another world perhaps. "Clark?" Diana asked concernedly at her friend. Superman looked up at her and Batman with an intense face. "We need to move" Superman warned with a serious face. They all ran out of there and began following 1K-ae-2L in the sky, not far behind him and as they were flying the riots were below them and blew up with fire rising into the sky as the dark night turned red as the flames engulfed the city.
As they all hovered above the city, they looked around for 1K-ae-2L as the noises from the device got louder and louder. Suddenly a voice came from the device, and they started speaking to them. "IS ANYONE THERE!?" It shouted desperately. They all looked at one another. "Well answer it!" Batman commanded them. "Who are you?" Superman asked. "LET ME GUESS YOU FOUND 1K-ae-2L!" The voice shouted it again. Something was off, however, as the voice sounded broken and strained. "What can you tell us about him" Superman asked. "ONLY THAT HE PLANS ARE REPROGRAMMING HUMANS INTO ROBOTIC MACHINES AND BOMBS TO USE FOR HIS ARMY" The voice told them. "Is that what his bomb is for" Wonder Woman asked. "YES, BUT HE IS NOT GOING TO STOP AT YOUR WORLD, HE WILL CONTINUE TO OTHERS!" The voice told them. "What about your world?" Batman questioned. "FOR MY WORLD IT'S TOO LATE! HE'S BROUGHT SOME OF HIS ROBOTIC MINIONS TO YOUR WORLD, TO START A NEW WORLD ORDER" The voice said. "I'm going to ask you again, who are you?" Superman questioned once again.
Then there was silence from the device. "Hello?" Superman shook the device around. "Stop it you'll break it!" Batman told him. "Who was that?" Diana questioned. "I don't know, but we have to find-" Superman was cut off by a strange noise coming from the device. It sounded like a scream. Then the device itself spoke. "Self-destruct in three, two, one" the device zapped out one last electrical bolt before shutting down. "What now?" Wonder Woman asked. "We go to the FBI and military, I'll track 1K-ae-2L and you guys go search for the robots" Superman told them and with that they all took off. The FBI, military and news reporters all came on to the scene. They began to strategize a way to capture 1K-ae-2L. The trio was given radios in case they saw anything. Superman went to the only place he could think 1K-ae-2L would be...Themyscira.
As the military gathered intelligence on 1K-ae-2L, the FBI squad was gathered in a group. "So, remember team, this man is very dangerous, he's not Superman but he looks a lot like him, now split out and cover as much ground as possible" The FBI agent in charge said. Everyone teamed up in small groups of three and everyone broke off to search for 1K-ae-2L. Team one searched on the northeast side of Gotham while the other team went to the southwest side. Meanwhile Batman and Wonder Woman went to search in Metropolis while Clark was on Themyscira looking for 1K-ae-2L. "Clark, have you found anything?" Batman radioed. "Not yet I'm still on the island" Superman told him. "Themyscira? What are you doing there?" Wonder Woman questioned.
Superman looked up confused. "Finding 1K-ae-2L" he said in a confused tone. "I know that but why the island?" Wonder Woman questioned. "Because this was the last place, we faced him before Cassy was born" Superman said. Wonder Woman and Batman looked at each other and continued their search through Metropolis. Meanwhile the first team of FBI agents searched throughout the whole northeast of Gotham to see if they could find any clues as to where 1K-ae-2L could be. "So, what do you think of evil uh, guh uh um" the agent failed to finish his sentence for fear of offending his partners. "The evil Superman Rick? I think we need to find him" one of the other agents responded. "Don't call him that! There is no such thing as an evil Superman Martin!" the leading agent spat. "Oh, get over it Steven, it's not like he's able to hear us" Martin said. "It doesn't matter, that man has saved more lives including ours more than once!" Steve yelled at him. "Good thing were having a civil conversation" Rick chuckled nervously.
They all went quiet for a moment. As they walked around the dimly lit area, they suddenly heard a noise behind them which sounded like screams. There was something off, however, about the screams they heard. To someone else it may have sounded like the right time to call the police but something in each of their guts told them that would be a bad idea mainly because the screams were close, but no one was around and the screams they heard sounded exactly like their own. The agents quickly ran to the place where the screams were coming from but found no one there and as they looked around, they saw nothing but the bay and city in sight. Suspiciously enough the only thing in sight were three pairs of FBI agents' uniforms on the ground covered in blood. "Hope to God it's not the other team!" Steve exclaimed. As the three of them looked through the uniforms, they found something disturbing. "Can't be the other team" Rick said not paying attention to the situation. "Rick, look at the name tags" Martin showed him. Each of the name tags on the uniforms read each of their names.
They all looked at one another horrified. "What does it mean?" Steve asked in a panicked whisper. Meanwhile back on the island Superman was searching for 1K-ae-2L while trying to stay out of sight for fear an amazon would catch him. As he went toward the castle, he overheard two Amazons talking. "What do you think it means sister? Is it a sign?" one amazon asked the other. "I don't know Iris, but I think it should leave reason for concern" Selene, the other Amazon said. "We should tell the queen" Iris said. "Perhaps I can be of some assistance" Superman came out from hiding. "What are you doing here man" Iris asked in disgust. "I'm here to help you find 1K-ae-2L" Superman told them. "We don't need your help silly man!" Selene spat. "Hold sister" Iris spoke up. "Iris" Selene began. "No Selene, if he knows where 1K-ae-2L is he can probably help us, and he should know considering 1K-ae-2L is an evil version of him" Iris told her.
They looked at each other and then back at Superman. "Alright, you can help us but don't get any funny ideas Superman, you're in our kingdom, you act according to our laws" Iris told him in a stern tone. Off they went to search for 1K-ae-2L and when it came down to nothing they went before the queen. "You should know him Kal-el, after all he is-" Hippolyta was cut off. "I know, he's an evil version of me" Superman said in slight agitation. "Look, I get that you don't like me but for right now your majesty, I ask that we all put our feelings to the side for a minute, now when was the last time you saw 1K-ae-2L" Superman asked her. Hippolyta shook her head. "The last time any of us saw 1K-ae-2L it was when Diana was pregnant with Cassy" Hippolyta told them. Just as she was about to continue the roof of the castle caved in. "He's here" Iris said.
They all turned to Hippolyta who continued as quickly as possible. "He was trying to steal from us and take an amulet of ours that held the power of the gods and when he was caught that's when the shooting broke out, those two men you met with in Gotham had assisted and when I realized how easy it was for him to come onto our island right under our noses I decided it was no longer safe for Diana and your child, the amulet was sacred and only a person with immense power can hold, let alone touch it. So, when 1K-ae-2L was able to pick it up I knew then he had more power than any of us even you Kal-el" Hippolyta finished. Just then the chandelier of the roof fell and shattered into many pieces. "There's not much time befo-" Hippolyta was cut off as 1K-ae-2L bashed through the roof with blazing red glowing eyes. There the fight began, and Wonder Woman came flying in with Batman in her arm. Quickly Wonder Woman through Batman towards 1K-ae-2L who dropped a smoke bomb at him and punched him with his kryptonite knuckle bracer. The fight took everyone from Wonder Woman managing to drop kick 1K-ae-2L and Superman hitting him with his heat vision and freeze breath.
Things got heated when an army of Amazons came in and attacked 1K-ae-2L. In return 1K-ae-2L called on his army of robot-controlled humans. The battle broke out and 1K-ae-2L flew off with Superman on his tail. Going off to Metropolis 1K-ae-2L leaving Superman confused before he realized 1K-ae-2L was heading towards his apartment, where Cassy was. Quickly 1K-ae-2L made his way to the apartment complex and hid in it. Superman searched for him right after he went to make sure Cassy was unharmed. Searching through the complex Superman found him hiding in a closet down the hallway of his floor. 1K-ae-2L came out charging towards Clark. Clark grabbed his fist and threw him out the window at the other end of the hallway. Their fight continued over the city until Superman had him cornered. "I don't want to hurt you 1K-ae-2L, so let's end this right now, shall we?" Superman said as 1K-ae-2L lay there on the ground.
1K-ae-2L got up and glared at him. "Yes, let's end it" 1K-ae-2L charged at him one more time. Superman threw one last punch and knocked him down. "Here's the thing 1K-ae-2L, I don't need a fight to prove a point, all I need is the right time and right place" Superman said. "What are you talking about!?" 1K-ae-2L demanded. "All I needed was to buy my time and soon I had you right where I want you" Superman smirked. Just then a bunch of military agents and FBI agents came onto the scene. "What? What's going?" 1K-ae-2L panicked as kryptonite handcuffs were placed on him. "You see 1K-ae-2L, I had you fooled the entire time, the stuff you infected me while it was red kryptonite, it also had an alarm in it which sent signals to the military and FBI in your world. Once I coordinated with them, we finally found your place of location and they came here for you. They're taking you back" Superman informed him.
The fight was over and 1K-ae-2L and his robot army were taken back to their world. "It's time to go home" Clark told his friends. Just as he was about to go Batman confronted him. "Another version of you crossed over and nearly destroyed us and you leave just like that?" Batman questioned. "What do you mean Bruce?" Clark looked at him. "Who's to say it won't happen again?" Bruce told him. "What if Cassy gains super abilities? What if she goes rogue?" Batman finished. "Don't go there Bruce" Clark glared at him. "If something happens, everything could go wrong" Bruce said. "Oh, come on Bruce, just because-" Clark was cut off. "Anything that can happen, will happen, murphy's law may I remind you" Bruce finished. "Referencing murphy's law to me now huh?" Clark smirked sarcastically.
Bruce glared at him. "I'm serious Clark, what if?" Bruce folded his arms. "If the occasion arises then we'll deal with it then until then Bruce drop it" Clark told him. Bruce said nothing and then turned to walk away. "Just remember one thing Clark 1K-ae-2L could have easily one that fight if you hadn't been two steps ahead of us, consider that" With that Bruce left Clark to think. Clark went back home to his apartment and was about to go to bed when he remembered Cassy was still there. Clark went to her room and saw the precious little girl asleep in her bed safe and sound. Carefully, without waking her Clark gave her a kiss on the forehead and looked at her as she slept. Everything Bruce said was still clouding his mind. What if he did go rogue? Who could stop him? Or Cassy? What if she became an unstoppable powerhouse?
As these thoughts ran through his head Clark heard a creek come from his bedroom and went to check out only to find nothing there. While it was strange Clark brushed it off decided it was the long night getting to his head. Clark got ready for bed and as he slipped under the covers. As he was falling asleep Clark could sense something in the air, that something was wrong. Why did 1K-ae-2L come back? How did he get the red kryptonite? Something was wrong with the world. Something was wrong and whatever was to come next remained unclear. What was clear was how fast the world was changing and that soon nothing would be the same again.

I enjoyed this chapter a lot because it had more detail and it feels like it set up the plot of the story and whats going to happen.
