"Steve is a madman or an idiot? Or both at the same time?" Danny squirmed when Junior told the team about Steve's trip. He asked the team to stop on the road and leave the phones in the cars. They walked a few meters as Junior had asked.
"He couldn't have done it alone," Lou agreed with Danny.
"He's not alone, he is with Harry," Junior replied.
"But it's too dangerous anyway. It will be two against what, 200?" Tani said to Junior.
"Catherine pushed him to his death," Danny came to his own conclusions.
"She didn't ask him to do that, Danny." Junior defended Catherine.
"Did she tell you that? She keeps going back and forth and frustrating his feelings, but now she's crossed the line," Lou agreed with Danny.
"She begged him not to go, I'm a witness to that, but he was Irreducible. Did you ever stop to think that maybe he just doesn't want to live in a world where she doesn't exist? He really loves her even though he doesn't say so."
Fifteen days later...
Harry walked quickly into the apartment he had rented for him and Steve. "Did you get it?" Steve asked when he saw him enter.
"I did it! With this equipment we'll be able to observe them much better. Close the curtains and let's set this up right now."
Harry was excited and Steve sat down next to him as they set up the equipment. The apartment they rented was far away from the building that served as the headquarters of the guy Catherine was investigating. Now they had new equipment and could watch the criminals day and night.
An hour later, Steve positioned the equipment in the window, behind the dark curtains, and spotted the headquarters. "Perfect!" He exclaimed.
"We'll be watching them 24 hours a day. We need to take turns on this surveillance," Harry said to Steve.
"How long are we just going to watch? We need to act," Steve told Harry.
"Even you don't believe what you're saying, Steve. You didn't really think we were going to solve this in a fortnight, did you?"
"We're not doing anything concrete, Harry. It makes me distressed."
"Who says we're not? I have a date tonight."
"What? Harry..." Steve was not believing what he had just heard.
"She works for them and I think I'm going to get some pretty important information," Harry explained.
"That could be dangerous, Harry."
"Dangerous? I'll just be a guy interested in a nice, pretty woman who met her casually in a bar."
"Did you really need to involve any women in this?" Steve asked.
"The guy who has two women vying for his love in Hawaii is judging me," Harry retorted. "You know I prefer Catherine, right?"
"I don't want to think about Catherine and Brooke right now," Steve replied.
"If you want to get away from the subject, that's fine."
"You're talking like Danny," Steve complained.
In Molokai...
"Catherine?" Junior called out to her and she opened the door for him to enter.
"Hi Junior."
"Hi," Junior said coming down the stairs to the basement.
"Have you heard from Steve?" She asked anxiously.
"No Catherine. You know he won't call."
"Yes, I know ... I shouldn't have come to this island, I shouldn't have looked for him. He'd probably be home with his girlfriend on a day like this. They could get married and have kids."
Junior saw that she was being sincere and felt sorry for her. "I don't think Steve was excited about the relationship to the point that he wanted to marry Brooke."
"Maybe he was excited and you didn't realize it," Catherine replied to Junior.
"No. I know the difference between an excited Steve and an unexcited Steve."
Catherine gave Junior a sad smile, "I think this friendship between you and Steve is very beautiful."
"Steve is like an older brother to me. I admire him, I trust him," Junior told her.
"Don't let Danny hear us. He knows how to be a jealous friend."
"I know. He's pissed off that Steve left without depeding on him."
"He'll forgive Steve," Catherine said.
"Well, I came over here to see if you needed anything."
"I don't need anything, I just need someone to talk to. Would you like to have lunch with me? Lunch is already ready."
"I accept, but I can't stay long."
"That's fine. It will be great to have your company," Catherine replied.
A few hours later...
Steve was watching Harry comb his hair to go to the "date" he had with one of the employees of the guy they were investigating.
"I know what you're thinking. Rest assured, I'm not going to do anything stupid," Harry said to Steve.
"I really hope not," Steve replied.
"I hope I come back with valuable information," Harry said as he walked past Steve toward the door. "Don't wait up for me," Harry said as he left and closed the door.
Steve was impatient. He had already left Hawaii almost twenty days ago and things were happening very slowly. He felt like calling Catherine and the team but he knew he couldn't do that. "I can't compromise the mission. I failed Doris, I can't fail Catherine," he thought and then approached the window. He used his new equipment to observe the target. He was very well protected by his henchmen. "This isn't going to be easy, Cath," Steve murmured softly. "What I don't do for you, huh?" Steve said again as if he was thinking out loud.
