To the guest who thinks I ruined Gail and Holly: sorry, however, I can see where you're coming from if you haven't read 'new name', the characters do evolve in 'new name', Gail isn't as curt with the world, Holly has helped with that, and Holly has changed too, she has become less likely to try and flee, Gail has helped with that. So, I'm sorry that you feel that these aren't the exact characters from how they're portrayed on 'Rookie Blue', but they have grown from the show to my first story ('new name') and now. Thank you for your comment.
In case you're wondering if that comment was why I stopped writing no name, it wasn't I was just trying to plan it out and then life got busy, and that comment is fine, people are entitled to their opinions, I will say tho the first 'fuck you' comment I ever received threw me off guard, but now they just make me laugh. And you might be wondering why, because I write these for fun and there are sooooo many incredible stories out there that people could be reading, but they kept reading mine and still felt so strongly to leave me a 'fuck you.' I personally don't get it, but….whatever eh
Gail took the weekend to decide whether she should go back to Moonbeam, and when Gail had made up her mind about going, she talked to Oliver, he asked her practical questions like where she would be staying, Oliver wants Gail to think ahead, he doesn't want her to just jump into this with her feelings. Gail said she'd call Keith and Stacey and see if she can spend a couple of nights with them, after a few quick searches on his computer, Oliver informed her that her old safe house was vacant and if she wanted he could get the keys for her, she easily agreed to staying at the former Reed house / undercover house in Moonbeam. The first time she went to Moonbeam she drove, she wasn't going to make that mistake again, sure when her and Holly and the kids go up they drive, but her and Holly can share the nine hour drive, but she opted for the much faster hour and a half flight into the little tiny remote airport, knowing she'd be able to convince Keith to come pick her up if she didn't want to walk into town.
Holly didn't want Gail to go to Moonbeam on her own. She could see how visibly upset Gail was after hearing about the passing of Mrs. Crane. Holly and the kids drove Gail to the airport, then the doctor dropped the kids off at school and she then headed into work, she needed to talk with her boss and get some time off to go be with Gail and be there with their friends. She was easily able to get the time off, she called to the school and informed them that she would be picking up her kids at first recess and that the kids would be off for the rest of the week, Holly figured it would be easier if she went home and packed up for the kids and collect them at school that way they could then just leave from their school. A nine hour drive later with multiple bathroom breaks and a stop at a playground for the kids to wear off some energy, they made it to Moonbeam.
After Holly and the kids arrived, they unpacked the car and went for a stroll through the neighbourhood. It was later than Holly realized, luckily Gail had done some grocery shopping when she arrived so the Stewarts went back to their house and had a late dinner.
The women had tucked the kids into their shared room, someone who had lived in the safe house installed bunk beds in the guest room and the kids seem to be enjoying it, Gail and Holly know that the novelty will soon ware off and both Gil and Laurel will want their own space and their own rooms again, but for now it works, hopefully they will be home by the time the thrill of sharing a room wares off. Gail and Holly are on the back deck in lounge chairs, the calendar has only just turned to October, so it's only just started to get chilly. "Brr," says Holly.
Gail pats the spot on her lounger; Holly quickly gets off of hers to join her wife. After Holly's comfortably situated, "this place brings back memories," Gail says.
"Yes," says Holly, unzipping Gail's hoodie to get herself even closer to the heat.
"You're going to make me too cold," Gail whines with a pout on her face.
"You'll be fine," assures Holly as she places her cold limbs closer to Gail.
Gail shivers. "Why not grab a blanket?"
Holly looks at Gail, "you'll wait here?"
Gail nods her head; the two haven't really spent that much time together, with them being on opposite schedules, it hasn't really been just the two of them for a while. It's been several months of them working opposite shifts, sure they get the odd day together, but an odd day is nothing at times. "Once you leave, I'll be zipping up my hoodie," Gail informs.
"I can live with that," Holly quickly goes inside to fetch a blanket. She comes back and Gail is still laying in her lounger, Holly smiles, she once again situates herself so both are comfy, draping the blanket over both of them, "this place brings back memories," trying to start the conversation again. Gail sighs and snuggles closer to Holly, "we haven't been on vacation in forever, not like this is a vacation, we are here for a funeral, but still."
"I know what you mean," assures Holly, letting her wife know her comment isn't as weird as it sounds, going to a funeral on vacation.
"You always do," Gail smiles into the night at the brunette.
"What was our last vacation?"
"With or without kids?"
"Whichever."
"Hmmm…" Gail thinks for a moment, "we went to Newfoundland."
Holly nods her head, "that was a nice trip; there's just a different feel on the east coast eh?"
"Totally. Remember when we got screeched in?"
Holly laughs, "I didn't even know that was a thing, we just happened to stumble upon that bar and that local asked us if it was our first time in Newfoundland and Labrador and then he screeched us in," Holly laughs again.
Gail smiles and shakes her head, "I can't believe you kissed that fish so willingly, it was so stinky."
Holly leans in and kisses Gail, "I've smelt worse and I've kissed worse." The two laugh. "But you're my favourite to kiss."
"Such a smooth talker," Gail smiles, "those shots of rum afterwards made up for kissing that fish." They lapse into silence, just enjoying the quiet and the time they have with each other. "I've been thinking-"
"That's a scary thought all on its own," Holly smiles.
"I've been thinking," Gail starts again, "are we u-haul lesbians?"
Holly laughs, "sometimes I never know what you are going to say, I thought you were going to say something like 'what if we stayed in Moonbeam and had never gone back to Toronto?' but nope, you ask if we are u-haul lesbians."
"Come on, think about it Hol, we met and we quickly moved in together, it's textbook."
Holly laughs again, "we really didn't have a choice though."
"I suppose."
Holly runs her fingers through the blonde's hair, "if it helps, I like how we met, and like that we fell in love, and I like that we are still together as a family."
"Me too," Gail gets lost in Holly's eyes; they bring comfort to the blonde, always.
