In what felt like hours, Chell woke up in a regular room with a picture of an older man with a wicked grin hanging over her bed and a few shelves with a few books on them. Chell did, however, notice that someone changed out of her space suit into a black, white, and yellow jumpsuit that had a Hyperon logo on the right side of it.
Chell thought. I'd better not be another testing felicity.
Chell looked on the left side of the room at a desk. On it was the portal gun, and below it was her long fall boot. She got up from her bed and went over to the desk. She put on her boots and grabbed the portal gun that seemed to be still working.
Alright, time to find out where I am? Chell thought.
But once Chell walked out of the room, she felt a large explosion that shook the hallway, then screams and gunfire. Chell held the portal gun tightly with no idea what was going on, and she ran down the hall to find a door. She opened the door to a hallway with large windows showing space, a moon, and a planet below it. Chell ran down the hallway, passing by a large Hyperion logo in the middle of a wall.
Chell entered a large cafeteria with a few dead people lying on the floor and two Dahl soldiers trying to break open a vending machine. The two Dahl soldiers noticed Chell.
"Another Hyperon stooge killed her," said Dahl soldiers.
Dahl soldiers fired upon her, and she took cover behind a flipped table. Chell used her portal gun and shot a portal gun under one of the Dahl soldiers and shot one above the other Dahl soldiers. The Dahl soldier fell on his comrade. Chell ran and jumped over the soldiers to exit the cafeteria to find a hallway with two dead bodies and a robot. Then she saw an elevator, and she got on it.
Alright, at least it is actually people trying to kill me, not robots or neurotoxins, Chell thought.
Chell hit the 4th-floor button, which moved pretty fast in a minute, and stopped at the 4th-floor button. When she got off, she saw more dead bodies and a couple more Dahl soldiers. Chell noticed a catwalk above them, and she shot a portal under her and shot on the catwalk; she got on it and ran to an open door. She found herself in hallways with high-tech rooms, and stepping out of the room wasn't a Dahl soldier but a low-level Hyperon programmer.
"Hey, you're the chick on that crashed rocket," said the programmer.
Chell was silent due to her being mute.
"What cat got your tongue?"
Chell pointed to her mouth and shook her head.
"You can't talk?"
Chell nodded her head.
The programmer sighed, "That's just great. Well, at least you can handle yourself with that weird gun of yours. Just follow me. I'll tell you what's going on."
Chell follows the programmer down the hall and explains that she was on Helios, owned by Hyperion. Now it has been invaded by Dahl soldiers who call themselves "The Lost Legion." They were killing anyone on Helios, and the programmer had no idea why they were doing this since Helios only has working staff and scientists on the station. They reached the last room in the hall and walked into it. The programmer walked toward a table with a couple of Echo nets. He grabbed one and handed it to Chell.
"This is an echo net. It would help a lot, trust me," said the programmer.
Chell turned it on, and she saw on the device it showed her health, ammo, shield, map, and echo logo.
"Look, I know this a lot, but can you do me solid?" said the programmer.
Chell gave a sure shrug.
"Okay, I hired a couple of Vault Hunters that should be here unless The Lost Legion killed them, which I doubt." I need you to go to the station's dock and meet them. Can you handle that?"
Chell nodded.
"Oh, you probably need this."
The programmer handed Chell a red Hyperon pistol and a few rounds of ammo. Chell headed off to the dock with a new task, but not before the programmer told Chell his name.
"My name is Jack, by the way," said the programmer.
By himself, Jack called someone else on his echo.
"Hey, Angel, can you find any info on our new silent friend?" said Jack.
"Of course, Jack," said Angel.
