Kept you waiting, huh?

...

Okay, that was in bad taste. I'm really sorry that this almost took another year YET AGAIN! I just had so much going on, but I don't want to keep you guys too long from reading the chapter. So, I'll just leave you a list of my valid reasons for not writing.

1: Too many fun ideas to write about and getting distracted writing those.

2: Major workplace changes.

3: General procrastination

4: Was playing Video games. Also Eldin Ring exists(Nuff said).

5: Loss of muse for quite a while

Okay, I think that's enough. Now please enjoy!

Crossing the ocean blue was a heavy steel warship that was pushing forward on a mission. And it wasn't alone. Surrounding the craft were several other ships of the same make. In the air, there were many Attack Choppers ready to fire at a first with enemy vessels. Finally, down below the surface, were a few submarines as well, keeping an eye out for enemy fire from their own playing field in the depths. This mighty battalion has pushed itself across the seas in order to get to their intended destination and nothing was going to stop them.

In the bridge of the flagship, the crew was hard at work controlling the ship. The captain that stood behind them, watching for anything that needed his supervision, stepped up after seeing their destination on the horizon. He walked up to the radio and opened a broadcast to all of his men in the company.

"Attention all craft! I know it's been a long journey. Fighting off MiG intruders, taking on Attack Subs, and Amphibious Guerilla Units. It seems like the whole world is trying to infiltrate our defenses." He pauses for a moment in order to gather himself. "Now, I know we lost Private Johnson along the way..." The captain looks to the men at the console, who still seemed to be grieving. "He was a good soldier and brought out the best in us. He did not sacrifice himself just so we could fail this payload drop off! We will honor him by finishing our mission, do you hear me?!"

All of the men in the room and even those unseen by him in the aircraft, submarines, and other warships all snap into a salute and shout: "Sir, yes sir!"

The captain smiles and salutes as well. "That's what I like to hear." He looks towards the man at the helm. "Lieutenant Aho!" The man at the wheel turns to him and stands at attention. "I know Pvt. Johnson was a friend of yours, as he was all of ours, but he was closest to you." The Lt. nods with a grim smile. "So, I would like you to honor him by joining me for the drop off and carrying the payload."

"Sir, thank you sir!"

"Now," The captain picks the radio back up. "This is moment we've all been waiting for men! This mission is about to come to an end. This is it! The day that Duel Academy gets its supply of new rare cards!"

*Knock, knock, knock!*

Jazz is here! Cecilia calls out after phasing through the door.

"Great, she's here for more food..." Max complains, but the smile he has shows there's no heat to his words. "One second!"

"Hey Max," Jasmine gives a cheeky grin after he opens the door. "Got breakfast ready?"

"You know you're the reason I have to have Croquet bring almost double the food right?" Max deadpans.

She just shrugs. "Your food's surprisingly better than what the chefs makes for the Blue Dorms. Plus, Croquet doesn't mind and your fridge has the space for extra 'rations'."

"Well, as long as you know." He hands her a container, then grabs his own as they walk out the door. "I packed breakfast to go, so we're not late for the written exam today."

"Should we get the guys?" She asks while nibbling on a pancake.

"Syrus is too anxious to be late, Jaden will only get up after his 'dream duel' is over, and so far Chumley only crawls out of bed for his next meal."

Jazz rolls her eyes at how true the last two points are. "That's that then. So, do you think you've studied enough?"

"If by study, you mean 'Do you know how to play Duel Monsters?' then yep." He retorts after chewing on some bacon.

"It is only the first test of the semester. Probably a lot of people passing the written exam."

"Yeah, but there are people like Jaden and Chumley, who would rather try to skate by on the practical exam duels." Max sighs.

"Don't weep for the stupid or you'll be crying forever."

"Stupidly lucky is more like it. How do you get passing grades by only doing great on the physical tests, but practically failing anything written?"

"I mean this school is for making top duelists. Maybe they care more about actual duel skills than just being a bookworm."

"Prof. Banner's mandatory Alchemy class begs to differ."

"Okay, you've got me there."

Uhh, Max? Cecilia grabs her son's shoulder, stopping the two's banter, and points over to the ocean.

"Hm?" His eyes follow to where she's pointing and he blinks in surprise. "Hey, Jazz?"

"What's up?" She turns around.

"Are we being invaded?" He asks, pointing along with his ghost mom.

"What do you...?" Jasmine trails off as she looks into the distance and just stares at what's coming to the island.

A few miles off the coast of Academy Island is a rather intimidating sight. Several navy battleships, surrounded by many black helicopters are barreling towards them. The ships don't have any national flags on them, so they are possibly unaffiliated with any of the countries of the world.

"Is this supposed to happen today?" Max asks dumbfounded.

"No but," Jasmine thinks for a moment. "I heard that the Card Shack was getting a supply of rare cards today."

"Of course it's being brought in by military escort..." He sighs as he continues walking. "This world's main obsession is a card game my dad invented and we're going to school for it on a private island. This shouldn't have surprised me. I need another french toast stick for this weirdness." And digs one out to munch on next away his stress.

"You're not wrong, but hey at least it's an easy school that guides us to a fun career." She follows after him, eating her own french toast stick.

Cecilia stares off at the ships in morbid curiosity, floating next to Max. I hope nobody died on the way here.

Same. A children's card game really isn't worth the sacrifice.

Max and Jasmine arrive at the Lecture Hall with time to spare. There are only a few Obelisk and Ra students spread throughout the seats but not a Slifer, other than Max, in sight. Prof. Banner smiles at the two from his desk and waves them over to him.

"Welcome you two. Here are your exam packets and keep them folded over until it is time to begin." The Professor hands them their tests with a pleasant grin.

"Thanks and good morning Professor Banner. And good morning to you too, Pharaoh." Max reaches over to pet the tabby cat, who eagerly presses his head against the Slifer's hand.

"Now, please find your assigned seats." He points over to the desks. As the two students start to head over to their seats, Pharaoh begins to struggle in his grip trying to earn more pets from his new friend. "No Pharaoh, he has to take an exam on Duel Monsters not Cat Pampering 101." Banner admonishes his cat.

"Sorry Pharaoh, but the Prof's right. We've got a test to take. I promise we'll hang out after the tests, okay buddy?" Max pets him one more time and when Pharaoh let's out a pitiful 'Mrow...', and they finally head over to take their seats.

"Oh, heads up looks like you've got to sit next to Chazz today." Jasmine points out, shaking her head in pity.

"Actually, he hasn't bothered me too much." Max admits causing her to look at him in shock.

"He hasn't harassed you or anything?"

"Nope, we've just had a couple short conversations and that's it. Nothing much." He shrugs.

Jazz looks at Chazz in his seat dubiously before nodding. "Okay, if you're fine with him, then I'll just head up and take my seat." She pats him on the shoulder before walking over to her seat next to her friend Mindy.

Welp, since you're taking your first written test, I'm just gonna take a snooze until it's over. Nighty-night! Cecilia waves before she disappears in a ball of light.

Chazz blinks when he sees a flash for a sec and looks towards where it came from. In its place he spots Max. "Did you use a camera just now, Pegasus?"

"No," Max tilts his head at that odd question. "Why would I do that right before a test?"

"Then what was that flash?"

Max catches on to what he's referring to, but just shrugs while smiling internally. "Maybe your seeing ghosts or something."

The Obelisk looks at him dubiously for a moment then shakes his head. "Whatever. Just don't bother me during the test and we're square."

"Sure thing." At that Max takes his seat, waiting for the test to begin.

This is probably the most I've ever been engaged on completing a test. Max thought as he starts to fill out the test with relative ease.

The test itself was multiple pages, but they were all separated into different segments. The first section was multiple choice and had to deal with remembering card names and card types. Then there were short answer questions based on card effects, some showing the image of the card and others only giving the name. The final section of the test were scenario questions that would have a picture of a duel with cards in your hand, and on yours and the opponent's sides of the field, and how many Life Points each of you has. All you need to do is write the sequence out for how you would win the duel with the cards and Life Points you were given. The test was made with the thought of young duelists learning the game in mind.

"You two wanna keep it down?!" Chazz's voice snaps Max's attention away from finishing his test. He looks down to see Syrus and Jaden arrived at some point and were chatting with each other, disturbing Chazz's own test taking. "Some of us plan to pass this test!"

"Hey, I always plan on passing, but sometimes it just doesn't work out that way." Jaden responds before Banner calls him down to pick up his exam. The brunette sheepishly walks down the stairs while Chazz sits back down and lets out a breath of frustration.

Max turns to him, confused. "How can you plan on passing and yet fail the exam? If he's so good he shouldn't be failing in the first place." He whispers.

Chazz looks to him in agreement. "Right?! I mean if he thinks he's the supposed 'Next King of Games', how do you flunk a test if you're so good at the game?"

"As much as I hate to admit it, there really is some truth to the whole 'Slifer Slackers' thing." Max shrugs as he turns back to his test, missing the astonished look on Chazz's face.

Right, I forgot that despite being a Slifer, he's no slacker. He turns back to his test in contemplation. Maybe I can use him to get rid of some other annoyances of mine. His face gains a determined smirk as he looks over to his no-name(to him) groupies. He shakes his head to refocus and his pencil starts to race as he starts the next segment of the test.

The rest of the test passed by simply enough for those that actually cared to pay attention to their lessons. Most of the Reds were either sleeping or panicking. The Yellows were actually the most calm and were still writing. And finally the boys from the Blue Dorms were either finished, feeling confident in their answers, or they were in the same boat as the Reds, ironically. Meanwhile, the girls were all finished and had zero problems with the test.

Max was, of course, finished with Chazz finishing a few minutes behind him. Both of them sat there, watching the clock for the lunch dismissal to arrive already. The sounds of snoring assaulted their ears from a couple rows down making every student that could hear it twitch their eyebrows in irritation at their obnoxious laziness.

I refuse to have to sit in this big, echoey test hall listening to Jaden and Syrus sawing logs with blunted tools! Max fumed a bit inside. He gets an idea when he spots Pharaoh slumped over in Banner's arms looking bored.

Chazz was faring much worse than everybody else. He had a vein pulsing on his forehead and if he grit his teeth any harder they would shatter. Right when he's about to stand up and yell at them to "wake the fuck up!", Max holds him back. The spiky haired Blue is about to let him have it when he stops at Max winking to him with a grin. He sits back down with an annoyed sigh and nods his head, silently telling the Pegasus to get on with it. His chair neighbor looks towards the front, back to Pharaoh. He clicks his tongue a couple times to get the tabby's attention, making sure not to disturb the others. Pharaoh's ears perk up and his head tilts to Max's direction.

"Mrow?"

Max smiles at him then points behind the cat to Banner. Pharaoh looks to his master, who hasn't noticed anything off, then he looks back to his new friend. The silverette then moves his hands as if he's pawing at something. The tabby gets the message, he's awesome after all, and flips over to knead Banner's shirt. The professor looks down with a curious hum.

"What is it Pharaoh? Do you need your litterbox?" The cat doesn't respond and just keeps pawing his button up. "Do you need any food or water?" Still no answer. "You know, I can't help you if you do not say anything..."

With Banner distracted by the wonder cat, Max grabs a piece of scratch paper and crumples it into a large ball. He looks to Chazz, who raises an eyebrow, and mouths "watch this." Then he waits for the apex of Jaden's next snore before tossing the ball with surprising accuracy into his open mouth.

"Huuaaaaggg-GHMMPH!" Jaden's cut off mid-snore as the paper ball hits nothing but net for its target. Funny enough, Jaden has yet to wake up, but he does jolt into Syrus causing the other sleeper to snap awake.

"Huh?!" The bluenette looks around before remembering where he was. Then he looks to his friend, who is still asleep, with something in his mouth. "Jaden, Are you okay?" He asks in concern.

Then, in a strange turn of events, the brunette somehow swallows the paper ball with no problems (anime biology, most likely). Once it was gone, he blearily opens his eyes while stretching. "Oh, hey Sy. I was having an amazing dream duel. Things were getting good, but right when I was about to activate my Trap Card, a Kuriboh flew into my mouth! How weird is that?" He says loud enough for everyone around him to hear.

Students all over began to snicker at this because most of them had seen this odd scene in either boredom or in need of a distraction. Both Max and Chazz had to put their heads down to block out their guffawing. What Jaden said upon waking up was too perfect for them.

Jasmine looks over at the two of them and lets out an amused snort. Well, if Max can help get Chazz's arrogant stick out of his ass, I might try to get along with him.

Alexis, on the other hand, looks at Jaden in slight disappointment. I really hope he knows what he's doing...

The two chuckle-heads lift their heads back up to breathe after laughing so hard. Chazz looks to his neighbor with an amused grin. Max holds out his fist and, surprising even himself, Chazz returns it. This guy could definitely be "Chazz Princeton Henchman" material. He thinks to himself before turning his thoughts to getting rid of his unwanted stooges.

Unnoticed by them, both of said stooges were looking over at the bonding moment with glares. That stupid Slifer might be a Pegasus, but he's still a Slifer. Who does that varmint think he is?! The bespectacled one, still named Topher, seethed. The dumb one with brown hair (AN: Who is either named Bubba or Conklin! Hahaha!) frowns heavily. We'll make sure that Slifer doesn't deserve your good graces, huh Chazz?

At the back of the room, the doors quietly clicked shut. Also getting away unnoticed, was a tiptoeing Dr. Crowler. "Heh heh heh! I do hope you enjoyed napping your way through the written exam. Because I will make sure your field test is a nightmare! Hahaha!" He cackles to himself. Suddenly a door to his left swings open, revealing an irate, yet nondescript teacher.

"Excuse me sir, but my students are trying to take their test. Can you please quiet down?"

"Wha?! I am just trying to scheme here!" Crowler is affronted by his evil laughter's interruption.

"Well then do it somewhere else, quietly." The teacher slams the door in Crowler's face. The lanky teacher sniffs in indignation before stalking off to his office. Where he can scheme in peace. Unlike SOME places!

"Okay class, the test is now over. Please walk, do not run, and you can get in line for today's new rare cards."

"They're here?!" A random student shouts in surprise.

"Oh, dear..." Banner facepalms at his poor choice in words.

Most of the students in the room start to work themselves into a frenzy. They start pushing and shoving each other as they barge through the doors like card-starved animals (some of them were foaming at the mouth). As they ran off, you could hear the mob screaming "CAAAARRRRDDDSSSSS!"

"Chazz, Chazz!" Topher and Bubba/Conklin run up to Chazz, who was looking over next class' homework.

"The new cards are here, huh Chazz?" The other one asks(?).

"So, go fetch." Chazz says as he doesn't even bother to look at them.

The Obelisk duo look over at Max and glare at him. Somehow being ignored by their leader was his fault, they just knew it. The silverette just makes a shooing motion with his hand. "You heard him. Shoo, shoo."

They growl at him before making their way out the door to get in line and save a spot for Chazz.

Jasmine walks over to Max's table after saying her farewells to Mindy. "You guys do alright on the test?"

Max looks at her with an easygoing smile, holding up a peace sign. "All aces over here!"

Chazz looks at Jasmine, surprised to see that one of his crush's best friends was even asking him that. Normally, they wanted nothing to do with him and his "arrogant ass" as they've said before. But, Chazz realizes, this could be his chance to put his foot in the door with Alexis. So, he decided to play nice. "Easy as the entrance exam. How about you?" He asks in return, which surprises Jazz judging by the single eyebrow she lifts in response.

"Yeah, it was pretty straight forward. I honestly don't know how anyone could fail it." She looks over to Jaden and Syrus, who are just now being woken up again by Bastion. She shakes her head before looking back at Max. "Wanna check out the Card Shack before grabbing our lunches?"

"Sure, I could watch some Duel Academy insanity. See ya around, Chazz."

"Mhm." Chazz waves them off as he gets back to reviewing his homework.

Aaahhhhnnnn~! An adorable yawn picks up behind Max and Jasmine walking down the halls to the Card Shack. He smiles at the sign that his mother is awake.

Welcome back to the land of the living, Mom.Max can't help but tease her.

Ha ha. You're a comic genius. Cecilia deadpans.

Only cause I learned from the best.

Darn straight! She brightens up before looking around. So what are you and Jazz up to? Oh! How was your test?

There's going to be a commotion at the Card Shack over the new rare cards, so we're going to get front row seats. And the test was easy, but engaging enough to be interesting and even a little fun at the end.

That's great, sweetie! ...Wait, what's going on at the Shack?

They all stopped at the opening in the hallway, where chanting could be heard. They looked to the left and saw groups of male students, from every dorm, clambering over each other. They were smacking their hands against the walls and the steel gate that signaled that the Card Shack was still closed. But what was most unsettling about them was their monotone chanting of "Cards. Cards. Cards. Cards."

Oh my God. Cecilia looked at these students uneasily. These kids need some serious therapy.

To be honest, I really don't remember them being this creepy in the show. Her son shivered. (AN: I forgot about this too.)

"At least the military's here to break them up." Jasmine says, looking down the other end of the hall.

The Pegasus family looked at the strange spectacle of soldiers dressed in dark blue combat fatigues with shades and batons, all file in and start pushing back the chanters. Some of the more "rabid" students tried to bite them, but they were immediately full-body tackled by the soldiers.

"GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!"

"CAAARRRRDDDDS!?"

...

...

...

Okay, this is kind of funny.

"Alright you crazy kids," Everyone in the hall turns their attention to the two navy officers heading towards them, the younger of the two was carrying a briefcase. "We've got what you're looking for right here!" The jovial captain points to his lieutenant who raises the brief case over his head. The craziness is finally replaced with cheers and eager students willing to be patient if just to celebrate their new cards. The two sailors lift up the metal gate blocking the way into the shop. Behind the gate is the Card Shack's counter girl and a display table. After placing the case down, they grab opposite sides of the package and open it. "Come and get it!" Both of them shout, encouraging the students. However...

It was not meant to be...

*Zoom!*

*Whoosh*

*Cha-ching!*

Before anyone could even get a peek at the rare cards, a shady figure sped up from behind the mob and snagged the cards. Then they ran up to the register and with a tap on their PDA, they had finished their purchase with a receipt in hand. The man walked back to the display table to show off his receipt in a gloating fashion.

"What the hell?!"

"Where'd the cards go?"

"How'd that guy move so fast?!"

"Why didn't the military stop him...?"

"CARDS?!"

All of these complaints were the result of the speedy man, who cackled, soaking up their groans of disappointment with glee.

"Sorry guys," The store clerk apologized. "But it is first come, first served."

"And I got into the store first, so I decided to get every single one!" The obviously disguised Crowler sneered under his cap.

As the mob continues to complain, no one, except for Max and co., spots the two navy men walk out with downcast expressions, especially the young lieutenant.

"Captain...?"

"Yes?"

"Was Private Johnson's sacrifice in vain...?"

...

...

...

"Come on, son. Let's head back to the ship. We could all use a drink after this..."

The rest of the soldiers follow suit and eventually the grumbling shoppers dispersed as well. Leaving our slightly disturbed protagonists.

"Did someone actually die or something?" Jasmine asks with an uncertain look on her face.

Max and Cecilia subtly look at each other before shaking their heads. Out loud he says, "I don't even want to think that things became that extreme for this." He shakes his head and proceeds to walk down the hall with the rest following after.

"And then this lanky lookin' feller snuck up and done took the rare cards!" Topher finished recounting the strange event over at the Card Shack while they were in line.

"Yeah, it sucks that we couldn't get you any, huh Chazz?" Conklin/Bubba kind of apologizes?

"You know what sucks," Chazz asks rhetorically. "You two. You dumbasses actually thought I needed rare cards to improve my game?"

"Well n-"

"Yeah. You did," He turns around as he cuts them off. "I didn't go down to the shack with you two cause I didn't need em'."

"Are you sure about that, Chazz?" They look up the stairs to their right and spot someone at the top.

"Hey, that's the creep that plum swiped up them rare cards!" Topher's garbage accent accuses the man on the stairs.

"What do you want Crowler?" Chazz sees through the disguise instantly and hopes the teacher would get to the point already. The man almost falls over at how his charade had been foiled. He takes off his hat to reveal his scary looking face, grinning devilishly at them.

"I was hoping you could put these... to use!" He flashes open his dark jacket to reveal all of the rare cards he purchased.

"I'm sure you probably heard me earlier, but I don't need those cards." Chazz huffs as he crosses his arms. Thank God, he wasn't going to flash me. He inwardly shivers.

"Not even to destroy Jaden during the exam?" Chazz glances at Crowler in surprise, but says nothing so he continues, "I know that you despise him as much as I do. I believe that if you give him a good beating with these, he'll finally learn his place."

However, Chazz shakes his head in the negative. "Even if I wanted to, we're not even in the same dorms. They won't let me be his test opponent."

"They? I'm they, so I'll make it happen! So," Crowler closes his coat, hiding away the cards. "What do you say?"

The youngest Princeton moves over to lean on the railing of the walkway they were currently on. I already said I don't need these damn cards. But he is giving me an opportunity to kick that Slifer Slacker down a notch or two. But doesn't using these cards Crowler bought show that I can't beat Jaden on my own?

...

Fuck it. I'm getting some decent cards and Crowler's the one who bought em'. Maybe they'll make a good addition to my deck. He turns back around with a confident smirk. "Alright Crowler, you've got a deal!" He says out loud.

"Marvelous. I'll have the match set as the big finale for today's field tests!" Crowler turns to leave.

"Hold on there, pardner!" The resident Obelisk southerner interrupts the teacher's exit.

"Yes, um Toby, was it? What do you want?"

"It's actually Topher, sir." He corrects. "Anyway, since you're given Chazz a shot, I wanted to see if I can take down a Slifer that's been buggin' us."

More like "buggin'" you. Chazz grins on the inside.

"Ah, since he's the only other Red menace out there that's noteworthy, I'm assuming you mean Max Pegasus?"

"That's the one! He's been trying to be chummy with Chazz, so we wanna take him down, huh Chazz?" The brown-haired croney doesn't even look at his leader when he addresses him. Chazz just looks annoyed and confused at why he keeps saying that last bit.

"Alright fine. I will offer you a couple of these rare cards, but I'm taking them back if you fail." He pulls out his PDA. "Now, I'll set up Topher against him since I cannot recall the other goon's name." Crowler writes down this new addition to his PDA.

"My name's -"

"Don't worry Chazz, I'll show that Red what for!" Topher cuts off the reveal of whether the dim-witted grunt is named Bubba or Conklin, looking to Chazz in anticipation. His look is met with a satisfied grin of the cat that caught the canary.

This was too easy. Chazz mentally fist pumps at being able to kill two birds with one stone. "Sure, go ahead and take Pegasus on. But if you lose, I don't want you two near me ever again. I think you would drown me in the shame of your loss."

"Hah! I got nothin' to worry about there! I'ma shoe in to win!"

Sure you are. Chazz begins to walk away in thought, not caring if the others catch up to him. This is going to be hilarious.

First Years Field Test

Max and Cecilia are waiting in the stands for their turn to step up for their test duel. The duels have been pretty lackluster so far. Mostly because they were played by or against Duel Academy NPC students. Alexis didn't really need to show off a decent strategy against a no-name snob from the Blue Boy's dorm. The only interesting match so far had been Jazz vs her friend Mindy, who had a deck of exclusively good looking male duel monsters. Jasmine learned her lesson from her and Max's lake duel. She didn't allow her confidence to get the better of her. The moment she was able to steal the win without any trouble, her Mermaid Knight was able to go in for the kill.

When her duel was finished, she opted to go stand with Max, while Mindy went over to Alexis.

"Think you'll be called up soon?" She asks.

"Should be soon, although it won't be much of a match. I'm up against another Slifer after all." Max shrugs.

"I wouldn't worry too much about your opponent." A familiar voice walks over towards them. They look over and see Chazz with a satisfied grin. "After all it should be a little bit interesting."

"What do you mean by that." The Slifer raises an eyebrow.

"Oh nothing, just make sure you win, okay? I'll be pretty pissed if you lose, Pegasus." He fixes a pointed stare to Max, who just sighs and gives him a thumbs up.

"Fine," he says. "Say where's Dumb and Dumber?"

"Prepping. Not that it'll do much." Chazz smirks as he leans on the railing to watch the exams.

"Do they really need to prep that much?" Jasmine asks, a little confused at the surprising amount of forethought from those two.

"Max Pegasus and Topher Beau! Please report to arena at once!" Crowler's shrill voice calls out on the PA system, surprising everyone, except Chazz.

"That's the 'Southern' one, right?" Max turns to the grinning Obelisk.

"Yeah, that's him. He was literally asking for it. Begged Crowler to let him have a shot at you. Crowler even spared him a couple rare cards to use against you, since you ticked him off somehow." He shrugs before pointing at Max. "Anyway, I've got something riding on your match, so don't even think about giving him a chance at winning this."

"Alright, alright, sheesh." The Pegasus family roll their eyes as they made their way to where Crowler and the unofficial "Chazz Fan Club" were waiting for them.

Jasmine watches the conversation with a raised brow. She didn't really know what to think about this, but hey if it ends with an Obelisk daddy's boy getting his ass handed to him, then who was she to complain.

What do you think this is about? Cecilia asks.

Those two bozos are probably pissy that I'm breathing the same air as Chazz and getting along with him.

Yeah, she nods as they finish walking. They're definitely that petty.

"Thank you for joining us, Mr. Pegasus." Crowler offers him an insincere smile.

"What's going on, Crowler?" Max stops across from Topher with his arms crossed.

"Oh nothing. We're just making sure you get the match you deserve."

"Yea," the bluenette pipes up. "You're gonna get what's comin' to ya, Slacker!"

"You ready to lose, huh Slacker?"

Only calling me that cause I'm Red, huh?

That's racist!

"Whatever." Max deadpans as he and Topher reach into their pockets. The Obelisk slaps his new rare cards deck in, but Max just pulls out his lucky die.

"What're you doing?" He asks dumbfounded.

"Wow, you really don't pay attention to things do ya?" Max smirks tauntingly at him. "Who's the Slacker here?"

"Just hurry up, darn you!"

With a roll of his eyes, Max lazily drops the die. Despite simply letting go of it, the dice still bounces a few times on the floor.

*Klak!*

*Klak!*

*Klak.*

...

...

...

Moments of silence pass as Max and Cecilia stare in surprise at the result of the roll. Slowly a matching evil grin spreads across both of their faces. Max laughs to himself while shaking his head and his mother is doing her very best not to break out into mad cackle. He picks up the dice before facing his bemused foe.

"What?"

"You're dead."

...

"Huh?"

Max shows him the result of the toss. The face of the die he shows only has a single golden eye. The one that is present on every Millennium Item.

"Deck #1. That's not really good news for all this 'effort' you're putting in to duel me like this."

I hope I get some time to beat him up! Cecilia eagerly cracks her knuckles, earning an amused chuckle from her son.

You and me both.

"What are you sayin' to me, you Slacker?!" The bluenette regains their attention although their annoyance is rising, thus making their want to destroy him raise even higher.

"Dude, learn some new insults." Max mocks him before he laughs again for a second. "Well," Max slaps in his selected deck into the duel disk. "Let's compare this to a video game. This moment is now as if you, the happy go-lucky, naive protagonist..." The lights of the device begin to glow a waving dark orange with flecks of black in it.

"Challenged the Final Boss way too early."

"You really think you're some kind of untouchable, big shot duelist, huh?!" Topher grits his teeth and points to his opponent. "Well, news flash! You're still a Slifer and only the losers go there."

"Actually anyone could kick my ass if they tried hard enough," Max couldn't even be bothered to roll his eyes at this guy anymore. "I've had plenty of games where I've gotten a bad hand or lost to a great strategy. Even the deck I'm using right now, which is pretty strong, can be beaten. I just know that you can't beat me today because I know that you don't have what it takes." He takes a little joy in seeing Topher's glasses actually fog over from the enraged steam pouring out of his ears. This distraction also serves as an opportunity. "And with that said, I think it's time I go first."

Max First Turn:

"What?!"

"Well, you challenged me and I want a chance at going first for once." He looks at the card he just drew and smiles at Cecilia. She winks before her spiritual form glows and zooms into his deck. He slaps his new card onto his duel disk. "And I'll start this duel off by summoning Darklord Ukoback in defense mode!"

Appearing in the center of his Monster Zone is a small, yet muscular, pale warrior with dark orange angel wings. He wears a tattered and torn grey tunic with two heavy chains crossed over it. His wrist bracers and greaves are made of a black metal outlined with gold on some parts. Lastly his helmet is made of the same material and fits tightly on his head with a red gem in the center. It covers almost the entirety of his head, but leaves his mouth and fully red eyes bare. After rolling his shoulders for a moment, Ukoback looks back and exchanged a terse nod with his master before crossing his arms in front of him, signifying his defense.

"Darklord? Looks like we get to see more strange rare cards from him." Jasmine hums as she sees the first monster appear.

"What do you mean?" Chazz raised an eyebrow at her.

"I challenged Max to a duel after school on the first day. The cards he used were called Fortune Ladies and apparently he made most of his cards with his dad."

"Fortune Ladies? Sounds a little sissy if you ask me."

"I wouldn't underestimate them. I did and ended up taking the dive for it." Literally

"Whatever." He nodded as they went back to watching.

"Doesn't look like that shrimp will do you much good except as a meat shield. Not that there's much to begin with."

"Man, you just want to be as unlikeable as possible, don't ya?" Max sighs out his annoyance before regaining his smirk. "Now that Ukoback has been summoned, I can send a card from my deck to the Graveyard as long as it's a 'Darklord' card." He pulled out a card that, only seen by him, was glowing slightly and sent it to his GY. "And now that that's there, I activate Darklord Contact from my hand."

Darklord Contact

Normal Spell

Special Summon 1 "Darklord" Monster from your GY in Defense Position. You can only activate 1 "Darklord Contact" per turn.

"Using this, I can special summon the monster I just sent to the GY in defense position because it was a Darklord Monster." The glowing card pops back out of the GY slot and is immediately set on his playing field. "And now, making her debut for Duel Academy," A burning scarlet ring of light forms over the card on the field before spinning and slowly rising up. As the ring rises, the monster's form appears. Long, slender, tan legs covered by long stockings (ripped and black for her left leg and white and neat for her right) come into existence. At the bottom of her legs, her feet are covered by golden, criss-cross high heels. And at the top, where the stockings begin, is a gold plated garter. When the woman's legs are fully formed, they are seated as if the monster is sitting on her knees with her legs spread outward. "Is a very personal, favorite monster of mine!" The ring rises higher, revealing a short-skirted dress that is colored like her stockings, one side white and the other black. There is a diamond shaped opening where her midriff is wonderfully shown off. Travelling further up his her bountiful, but covered, chest with a gold and crimson sash hanging in between her breasts. With the ring fully rising above her, the rest of her body is revealed. Her dress is now seen to be shoulderless and the strings of her dress hang around her neck underneath a gold choker. Pointed ears poke out from beneath her long, dusky violet hair. Lastly, her slender arms are resting on her legs, each decorated with a gold armband and wrist bracer.

The ring of light has stopped and hovers above her head before it swiftly shrinks down. It continues to slowly spin as parts of the halo spike outwards at an angle. The testing site falls silent as everyone stares at this newly formed beauty that has never been seen in Duel Monsters until now. Her face remains still as if she has yet to wake up.

Max smirks as while she looks like she's calm and ignoring everyone, he knows that she's eating up the attention. "I present to you ladies and gentleman, special summoned in defense position: Darklord Ixchel!"

With that signal given, Ixchel's eyes snap open to reveal a familiar pair of sapphire blue eyes. A bright smile forms on her face as she holds her arms to her chest before suddenly spreading out to the side. As if on command, seven black, bat-like angel wings appear. Six of them form from her back and almost encircle her, ready to defend at a moments notice. The last wing, strangely enough, sprouts from her hair, above the left ear. The wing itself folds over the front of her head like a headdress.

You can discard this card and 1 "Darklord" card: draw 2 cards.

The crowd is notably surprised by the look on Ixchel's face. You would assume a fallen angel dressed as a temptress would look seductive and perhaps a bit sexually intimidating. Yet this monster's expression could only be described as joyfully innocent. Her grin looks as if she's thrilled to be on the field and that's all that matters to her right now.

Hello~! Ixchel/Cecillia waves enthusiastically out to the crowd, earning some cheers for her efforts, before she turns back and winks to her son/duelist. I'd say that was a nice entrance, don't you?

Ha! You're a born showman. Max grins with a hint of sarcasm.

Well, then let's get this show on the road! She does one more wave to everyone before resting back into her defense position.

"Man, talk about a crazy beautiful Monster, huh Jaden?" Syrus looks at Ixchel with wide eyes.

"I know, right?" Jaden smirks while watching the duel. "A Level 10 monster with those attack and defense points right out the gate, Max has already got his game on!"

"Or perhaps he brought his game out too quickly?" Bastion comments from the other side of Syrus. His index finger scratches his chin as his face forms a thoughtful frown. "While she looks impressive, if I do say so myself, I am a little worried about what Crowler and this Topher fellow are up to."

"Eh, it's just the first turn. We don't know how it's gonna go yet."

"I could say the same to you."

"Fair enough." The spunky Red shrugs.

"I think I'll finish this turn with two facedowns." Two unknown cards form in his Spell/Trap zone, ending his turn.

Topher First Turn:

"You think you're just hot stuff with your hot monster, huh?" Topher draws his card. "Well, with my new rare cards hot off the press, you won't be feelin' so hot anymore, ya hear me?"

"Okay, what on earth kind of wordplay were you going for there?" Max slowly blinks at the bizarre last two sentences.

"From my hand," Topher ignores Max. "I summon Lord of D in defense mode."

Appearing on the opposite side of Ukoback is a man dressed in black tights and skeletal dragon armor. His black cape has a high collar that emphasizes his helmet that looks like a bone dragon's maw. From the back of his skeletal pauldrons are two dragon claws that also act like pauldrons on top of his pauldrons. (AN: At least that's what I think.)

Oh look, it's a monster that Kaiba has used before, therefore it must be "rare". Max raises an unimpressed eyebrow.

Maybe it's rare because Kaiba rarely uses it anymore. Cecilia snickers to herself. And next he's going to use...

"Now, I activate The Flute of Summoning Dragon."

The Flute of Summoning Dragon

Normal Spell

Special Summon up to 2 Dragon monsters from your hand. "Lord of D" must be on the field to activate and to resolve this effect.

Called it!

A gold horn in the shape of a dragon's head appears in Lord of D's hand before he blows on it. As the instrument releases a long, low melodic tune, two swirling vortexes of wind appear in Topher's Monster zone.

"And with that, I can special summon Meteor Dragon..." The bluenette points at the vortex to the left.

A turtle-like dragon with a large sphere of rock for a body rises up on the field on all. Its head, feet and stumpy tail are all purple. And it's sharp wings are black. The crags of it's rocky body and it's eyes are outlined with orange highlights.

"Isn't that super rare?!"

While he mugs for attention, his next dragon appears. Its entire body is pitch black with a reflective sheen almost as if it was made of of metal. From its head to its wings and down to the tail, all parts of the dragon look sharp enough to cut someone with ease. Red Eyes lets out a hair-raising screech as it looks to Max and his monsters with his blood red eyes, trying to guess who will be the first victim.

Alexis gasped in shock at the sight of a rare dragon that was all too familiar to her. Her missing brother Atticus was famous at Duel Academy for using a Red Eyes deck. He was just as good as Zane whenever he used that deck. Her mind raced as she now wanted to question Topher on where he got that card. However, when she looked over to her best friend, who was standing by Chazz for some reason, all of her questions and hope dimmed as she saw Jasmine shake her head in denial. She then pointed over up to where a certain creature of a teacher was standing and rubbing his hands together with glee.

Ugh! I guess that's an immediate dead end... Her eye twitched in annoyance at the false hope this duel had given her for only a moment. I wish I could just find something. She lets out a sigh before refocusing on the duel. Oh well... At least I know Max can wipe the floor with him for me, even if he doesn't know it.

"Shakin' in your boots yet, Slifer?" Topher sneers at Max as he readies his next card.

"Not really." He stares blankly, unimpressed. I mean after you see Joey summon it like 20 times in person, the coolness kinda fades.

"Ya'll be shakin' now, as I play Dragon's Mirror!" An golden circular mirror with dragon wings and claws appears. The glass shines brightly for a moment before it clears up, revealing the glass to be tinted purple.

Dragon's Mirror

Normal Spell

Fusion Summon 1 Dragon Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, by banishing Fusion Materials listed on it from your field or GY.

"With my mirror here, I'll use it to fuse my two dragons into a much stronger one." As the mirror shines once more, the dragons are grabbed by an unseen force and sucked into the mirror. The mirror's shine takes on a dark purple and red hue. Topher and most of the crowd watch the mirror with anticipation. However, they miss a couple deadpanned stares from the more experienced players who can see where this is going.

"Is that really all that Crowler gave him?" Jasmine raises an eyebrow in disbelief.

"Apparently," Chazz snickers to himself as he sees how easy it was to get the results he wanted. After all, why would he give that kiss ass any of the best rare cards when I can put them to much better use.

The glass of the mirror shatters as a much bigger and bulkier dragon smashes out of it onto the field. The beast is half a size bigger than Red-Eyes Black Dragon with a thick dark purple body with glowing red cracks spread around its limbs, wings, and orange belly. Its eyes glow with a harsh red light as it roars upon its awakening.

"Behold my Meteor Black Dragon!"

"That's your ace monster, huh?" Max drawls.

"That's right and the first thing I'm gonna have him do is-!"

"Darklord Rebellion!" Max interrupts Topher with a teasing grin.

"Darklord what?" His opponent and Bubba/Conklin stare confused before they start to sweat as one of Max's facedowns activates.

Darklord Rebellion

Normal Trap

Send 1 "Darklord" Monster from your hand or face-up field to the GY; destroy 1 card on the field. You can only activate 1 "Darklord Rebellion" per turn.

"By sending a Darklord monster, in this case Darklord Edeh Arae, from my hand to the Graveyard, I can destroy 1 card on the field. And that honor goes to your Lord of D.!"

A bright white beam of light blasts out from the Trap barreling towards the crouched dragon lord. He is unable to do anything but groan in pain as the light hits him and disintegrates him within seconds.

"Makes things much more simple for me."

"Grrrr," Bubba/Conklin growls before pointing at the large dragon. "Attack his monster and shut him up already, huh Topher?!"

"Right! Let's see how tough you think you are after Meteor Black Dragon takes out your favorite monster!" Topher shouts. "Take down that chick out with Inferno Meteor Blast!"

Meteor Black Dragon roars as its eyes and cracks on its body all begin to glow red with power. It opens its mouth to charge up a dark red, searing ball of fire, but suddenly forming in the center of the flames is a craggy rock that starts to grow and spin until it's the size of the monster's head. Once satisfied with the built up attack, Meteor Black Dragon launches the flaming meteor at high speeds to the patiently waiting Ixchel, who doesn't even blink at the rocketing ball of death heading straight for her.

"You're right," Max grins unfazed by the attack. "I did say she was a favorite of mine, so of course I would take measures to keep her safe. Draining Shield happens to be one of those classic measures I like to use." His last Trap card flips up before a silver, futuristic disc appears in front of Ixchel. From the disc spreads a green barrier of life energy and forms a protective dorm around her.

Draining Shield

Normal Trap

If an opponent's monster declares an attack: Target the attacking monster; negate the attack, and if you do, gain LP equal to that target's ATK.

Nnyyyeeehhhh~ The beautiful fallen angel acts appropriately by sticking out her tongue and waving her fingers around her ears as the blast makes contact with her shield. The disc spins as it absorbs the blast, meteor and all. The green shield shines brighter until the attack is fully absorbed. Its work finished, the barrier begins to fade away, but not before the particles of the collapsing barrier make their way back to Max and surrounds him to give him the energy that was taken.

"Alright, Max has got this duel in the bag!" Syrus cheered along with other members of the crowd.

"Yep, there was nothing to worry about. It's gonna be smooth dueling from here." Jaden gave his friend a thumbs up. "That Lord of D. could have made things annoying, but he knew to take him out as soon as he could."

"Quite true." Bastion nods before frowning minutely. Although, I wish this duel was longer so that we could see what Max's deck can really do. Then I could come up with a proper strategy to counter it. Perhaps next time.

A small glow emanates from Jaden's deck before his little friend, Winged-Kuriboh, appears next to his head. With an excited hum he begins to poke his master's head.

"Hm? What's up, buddy?" Jaden asks his duel spirit out loud, yet no one seems to pay attention to it. The fuzzball points over to the current duel, specifically Max's Darklord monster that's hamming it up on the field. "Oh! Is she like what you are, Kuriboh?" His partner happily nods. "Well, that's cool! Makes me want to take him on and see what he's made of even more!" Kuriboh agrees as they both start to feel amped up at the thought of the future duel.

"Got anything else?" Max asks.

The two Blues across from him look as if they couldn't believe they just fell for a simple trap. With his eyes and eyebrows twitching, Topher places a card face down.

"Just take your turn while you can, Slifer." Topher throws back his hair, trying to regain his faux confidence.

Max Second Turn:

"My draw!" Max pulls up his latest card and uses it to hide his growing grin.

So, do you think that facedown's a bluff as well?

Of course it is, but it never hurts to be safe, sweetie!

My thoughts exactly. "I activate the Spell card Banishment of the Darklords!" He calls out loud before activating his card.

Banishment of the Darklords

Normal Spell

Add 1 "Darklord" card from your deck to your hand, except for "Banishment of the Darklords". You can only activate 1 "Banishment of the Darklords" per turn.

Max searches through his deck until he finds the monster he needs. He looks over to Ukoback, who nods in response. "I'm glad Ukoback was here for a bit, but I think we both know it's time to trade up. With that in mind, I'm going to tribute him in exhange for the Darklord I chose from my deck." The burning halo floating above Ukoback begins to slowly spin and descend on his form. As it passes over him, his form disappears into the ring. Once it reaches the floor and the small fallen one is gone, the halo expands to three times its size. "Thanks to this next monster's effect, I get to Tribute Summon him as long as I use 1 Fairy-type monster. Let's show them why their game's over, Darklord Desire!"

The circle rises once again. After it's finished, it shrinks down and goes back to floating over the newly summoned monster. Darklord Desire is a tall, pale man in black armor with bright yellow decals. On each of his arms is a large gauntlet of the same design as his armor. Where his hands should be are two bladed-pincers and on the opposite, his elbow, is a curved spike. His helmet is birdlike and only covers the top half of his face. The lower part of the helmet is all black, while the bladed decoration on top is orange. The most striking detail of Desire's form flares out from his pointed shoulder pauldrons: his bright maroon wings. Darklord Desire's glowing yellow eyes from his helmet stare into Meteor Black Dragon's fiery red with no fear, only assured confidence.

"Who's ready for the Grand Finale?!"/Who's ready for the Grand Finale?! Both Max and Cecilia enjoy calling out to their audience to drive them wild with conflicting thoughts.

"This guy's already got two Level 10 monsters?! That's nuts!"

"But those Blue's have a stronger monster?!"

"Yeah, but it's a Normal/Fusion monster, so it's only good for it's ATK points."

"How is a Slifer this good? It's unbelievable!"

"Well, he is a Pegasus."

"Take out those Blue nobodies already!"

"CARDS! CARDS! CARDS! CARDS!"

"CARDS! CARDS! CARDS! CARDS!"

"OH GOD! WHO LET THOSE PSYCHO SHOPPERS BACK IN HERE?!"

Okay... Not what I was expecting, but I'll take it. Everyone on the winning side sweatdrops at that last bit.

Clearing his throat to get everyone back on track, Max points at his shaken opponents. "Let's start with getting rid of that eyesore of a dragon you have!"

"And just how're you gonna do that, huh Slifer?" Conklin/Bubba asks.

"Darklord Desire's effect will handle that. By taking away 1000 of his ATK points, he can destroy a monster on the field. Now take down that 'roided out dragon with Desire's Toll!

Without breaking eye contact with his target, Desire stoically brings his right arm to his left wing and grips it in his pincers. With a resounding snap that causes everyone, but him and the dragon to wince, he rips off his wing. As he holds his broken wing before himself, his halo moves to the wing, growing in size, and envelopes it in its flaming wreath. The wings splits itself into individual fiery feathers before they launch at Desire's command. They streak across the field, impaling Meteor Black Dragon all over its body. It writhes in agony until the last feather pierces its hides and it is destroyed.

That was more gruesome than I thought. Cecilia holds back a shiver. She turns to her teammate, concerned. Are you okay, Desire?

The only response she gets from his is a nod with a small, easy smile that puts both Pegasus family members at ease.

Oh thank goodness. I wouldn't want to do that anymore if making him use that effect is a nightmare for him. Max relaxes. "Next, I'll switch Ixchel into attack mode!"

Oh goodie! Cecilia stands up from her kneeling position. She cracks her back and her knuckles with a satisfied grin, ready for what's coming up. From beside her, Darklord Desire's remaining wing tenses as he readies himself.

"Desire! Hit them with Desire's Cross!"

The last wing on the Darklord's back snaps out and launches him forward at high speed. The halo above his head glows before shooting into his gauntlets' pincers. They glow an ominous orange and crackle with electricity of the same color. He lets out a war cry as he crosses his arms right before he reaches Topher.

"GAH!"

Desire lashes out with his gauntlet blades as he streaks past the blue boy, almost looking as if he phased right through him.

Max: 7500

Topher: 2000

With a satisfied grunt, he jumps back and with a boost from his wing, Desire soars back to Ixchel's side in no time flat.

"And Ixchel, if you would deal the finishing blow please?" Max gives her a mock gentleman's bow.

Oh, but of course! She giggles as she curtsies back to him.

"Then end this farce of a duel with Lance of Lilith!"

The fallen angel spreads out her wings as she holds her arms out wide. With a devious grin, she flourishes her hands with grace as if she were conducting. Electricity similar to Desire's crackles to life in response from the tips of her wings. As she raises her right hand, her halo ascends, expanding in size and changing its axis to stand up, facing target. Her left hand rises to join her right. The sparks merge together as they fly high into position, behind the radiant circle. They twist and extend into a distorted, raging bolt of lightning.

Seeing the attack that awaits to strike them down, the two Obelisks just stare on with blank faces, their arrogance and assumed victory, now long gone after their "Ace" monster was taken out with ease.

"Say Topher?"

"Yeah, pardner?"

"We thought messing with a Pegasus was a good idea, huh?"

"Yep."

...

"We really screwed the Silver Fang, huh Topher?"

"That we did,-"

*SNAP!*

A snap and a flick of the wrist is all the warning they receive (cutting off the name confirmation, of course) as Ixchel's "lance" streams through the halo. However, as it does, the bolt triples in speed and size with a shattering-

*KRA-KOOOOM!*

The lightning flashes and bangs as it strikes the foolish duo, deafening and blinding everyone to its impact upon them.

...

...

...

After a moment of silence, the light recedes from the arena revealing the two contrasting sides. On one, is the smoking forms of those who flew too close to the sun. The other, is a confident student (and ghost mom) that is already walking back to his friend and potential buddy before the duel's results were announced. Not even bothering to look back as they saunter off.

Like a Final Boss that had just wasted their time dealing with garbage.

Tube of You, /watch?v=8WSdiWpzQC8&ab_channel=EnricoDeiana

Now, before we get to the Actual Closing AN, I wanted to show you guys one of the things that I got distracted with writing.

I wrote and opening for this series! It's still to the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX! Dub Opening, but I thought that it was really fun to write and experiment with. I wanted to try and write "Anime Openings" for most of my stories and their different arcs.

Now, I might have made a couple of the scene descriptions a little long, but I tried my best and this is my first time trying to write something to music, but I still had fun!

Please let me know what you think!

(Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Opening "Get Your Game On!")

As the song starts, the camera is passing over the waves and heading towards Duel Academy Island. Suddenly, it pans up and sees a helicopter flying over it. Max jumps out of the helicopter and skydives towards the island with an excited grin. A bright flash illuminates behind him as Ixchel is now behind him with a bright smile. Her wings unfurl, and she grabs Max by the waist and helps him fly down to the island faster. They land right next to Jasmine and Chazz. Max smiles at the two, Jasmine giggles and moves to stand next to him, Chazz rolls his eyes in exasperation but has a small fond smile, and Ixchel transforms into Cecilia and grabs all of them into a group hug. Max and Jasmine laugh, while Chazz yells at her with a tick mark on his forehead. The riff ends as all of them look out into the distance at the sun overhead.

Chillin' out with the crew in the schoolyard.

Jasmine is laying on the grass under a tree looking at her cards, while Cecilia floats above her, invested. Chazz is napping at the base of the tree. Max jogs into the courtyard with some drinks, he tosses one to Chazz, who catches it somehow. He opens his eyes and he's stunned that he actually caught the can.

Finding trouble, never lookin' too hard.

A bald man with a gold eyepatch is seen in a decrepit looking room with picture frames placing a card facedown. The camera pans to Max, who summons Charioteer of Prophecy and activates Spellbook of Wisdom at the same time.

Well back at class, they never taught us this.

Max and the others are taking notes, except for Jaden and Syrus who are sleeping in class. Crowler yells at them and Cecilia glares at them. Next, she holds onto Max's shoulder so that she can crumple up a piece of paper and then throws it at the teacher.

Some things you gotta learn, hit or miss!

Crowler gets hit with the paper ball and starts yelling at Max. The others around him, including the woken up Slifer duo, all stare down at Crowler. The teacher suddenly shrieks as a bunch more paper balls are thrown at him, burying him underneath them. Max looks at his mother and sighs in disbelief. Cecilia just giggles and holds up a peace sign.

Tough times, Hard climbs!

On a dark, foggy battlefield, three red-eyed, silhouettes of the Sacred Beast monsters are facing off against Max and Celicia, in her Ixchel form.

We'll take 'em on together!

All of Max's friends gather by their side and activate their duel disks. Max and Cecilia look at them, then they smirk and look back towards the giant monsters, even more determined.

Right now.

Jaden comically gets washed off of a rock by a wave. Max reaches down quickly and grabs him, pulling him back up.

Let's go!

Max rolls his eyes, while Jaden laughs sheepishly. Then they close their eyes, raise their fists, and shout out "Let's go!" , with the school imposed behind them.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Generation Next!

Game on!

Chazz flips up his Chythonian Polymer Trap Card, grinning in almost feral determination. Jaden faces him down with his own excited attitude.

Get your game on!

Jasmine hops and then slides into the middle of the screen. In a flash, Daedalus appears behind her and roars, summoning a tidal wave from behind them and it rages towards the screen.

Come on, ya better play your cards right!

Max grabs his lucky four-sided die from his pocket and holds it up. Behind him, Ixchel and the Fortune Ladies appear and strike different poses.

Game on!

Chazz stands confidently with all of the Armed Dragons standing beside him. Suddenly, Ojama Yellow launches towards him and hugs his face, and Chazz desperately tries to rip him off.

Get your game on!

Alexis waves out her hand and her monsters, Etoile Cyber, Blade Skater, and Cyber Blader, all pirouette behind her and stand graciously.

We'll make the grade and win this fight!

Max, Cecilia, Jazz, Alexis, Syrus and Jaden all smile at the camera. Then it changes to Chazz rallying all the students to raise their fists up in a cheer with the sunset behind them.

*Guitar Solo for monster montage!*

Flame Wingman charges his dragon arm's fire blast.

Darklord Nasten roars.

Mermaid Knight slices with her glowing blade.

Toon Blue Eyes White Dragon spins around mid-flight and then chuckles to itself.

Two Magician's Valkyria cross their staves.

Frightfur Leo holds out its claws and leaps forward with its unsettling smile.

Blade Skater twists and prepares to slice with her arm blades.

Shaddoll Hedgehog curls up and shoots out its spines.

Armed Dragon Lv. 7 revs up its torso saw blades.

Deep Sea Diva gracefully sings with her eyes closed in concentration.

Cyber Dragon dives and coils up to strike.

Apprentice Illusion Magician and Dark Magician float back to back, charging up their attacks. They both spin their staves, smiling, and unleash their attacks.

*Guitar Solo ends*

We'll make the grade somehow!

Crowler points forward, challengingly. Max and Cecilia run forward and then Max throws his lucky die at the camera.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX!

Game on!

Jasmine draws her card fiercely from her duel disk, she smirks when she sees what it is.

Get your game on!

Alexis flips a card in her hand and then plays it facedown.

Come on, ya better play your cards right!

Jaden throws down a facedown and smirks. Chazz grits his teeth and draws, almost hitting the camera.

Come on and get your game on!

The camera pulls back from Max's face as he, Jasmine, Chazz, Alexis, and Jaden are standing on the cliffs in front of the school. Cecilia flies up above them and spreads her arms wide. A golden light starts to glow behind Max's bang covering his left eye. Then there's a golden flash and it cuts to the title card.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX!: The Next Millennium.

So, what did you think?

Anyway, let me just get something off my chest about this chapter that has been the biggest reason why I took so long to finish this. I just did NOT care about the duel of this chapter for the longest time. Please do not get me wrong. Everything BEFORE the duel, I loved writing and had a blast. But once I got to the duel after Max summoned Ukoback, my muse just died for a while. There was just so much I could do with to make fun of those two morons. It just wasn't engaging enough for me to care. I also want to reiterate that I am a VERY CASUAL Yu-Gi-Oh! player. I don't do major mind blowing strategies. I just have fun with what I can think of that I think would be good and what I can change around from the Anime.

So, I started writing other things. I actually managed to finish and post my Pokemon story's first chapter! I was so ecstatic! Well, that was until I got a really TOXIC review only two hours after posting it... It really crushed me when I read it. However, after rereading it multiple times, I realized that it was just a garbage review that didn't matter. Yet, there were a couple points that I genuinely should fix. So, I deleted and reuploaded the story after I fixed what I could.

...

And then I got to procrastinating for THAT story! Don't worry I still have my muse there too, I just keep getting distracted. But hey, if you're interested in Pokemon stories, please check out "Pokemon: Silver Ore Version"!

Now, let's see. What else has been on my plate lately...?

Oh yes! If you remember that Update post I made, I had quite a few fic ideas. Well, unfortunately, I've scrapped a couple of them because I just don't want to write stories that I know I won't have fun writing the further I get into the story. But! I've also added a couple new stories too!

Those stories are:

"Naruto: Shifting Sands" That's right! I'm going to be making two Naruto stories at the same time! This story will star a Gaara SI, but there will definetely be some AU stuff going on for him during the storyline. So, no psycho-killer Gaara before Chunin exams this time around. He has some Naruto knowledge, but it won't be completely reliable until canon starts and even then, there will be some that will just end up useless or he can't use unless he has a damn good explaination.

I have never really seen an SI, or even just an AU/OOC Gaara story. Most of them have been for an OC, Naruto, and Sasuke. And most of those are Gamer stories, which I like some times.

I have some great ideas for this story that I think could be a blast. Playing around with a "sane" Shukaku and another character idea I have should make things interesting. I'm in the middle of writing the first chapter right now while I'm developing more ideas. I have a Genin team for him and of course his pairing. The pairing will be Gaara/?/?/?.

Alright, next story, I'll make the explaination shorter.

My Hero Academia x Helltaker. OC/Demon Girl Harem/?/?/?. Will be in Class 1-A. This story will most likely be the Largest Harem that I will ever write. And I'm including my Highschool DXD ideas that I don't even know if I'm going to write. I think I will leave it with you guys with knowing that I am about halfway done with this story's first chapter and I'm looking forward to when my OC goes to Hell.

And the last story idea that I will leave you with is:

"Demon Slayer: Warmth of the Shade. OC/Mitsuri/?/?. I've had some great inspirations for this story and I was like "How can I not write a story for this?!" Plus, this story will probably be my shortest story due to it being one of the shorter Shonen series. Not that that's a bad thing of course! Anyway, I don't see enough OC/Mitsuri stuff, so I wanted to have fun with her. Yeah, she has snake boi, but I say "Tough Noodles, Snake Boi!" Lastly for this story, I really love my ideas for the last two ?'s for the pairing. The only hint that I will give is that they are both demons. I hope to surprise you with them and their Blood Arts that I've been developing.

...

...

You can really see why I've been getting distracted, huh?

Welp, before we get into the reviews, let me just say that you guys have been amazing! I can't believe this random idea I had a couple years ago has even gotten past 100 follows/faves. I can't thank you enough and your guy's words have been what makes writing this even more of a blast. Please look forward to the next chapter! I know I am! I mean come on! The Abandoned Dormitory and Horror elements in a Non-Horror story that I get to play around with? MUSE TAKE ME A-WAY!

But before that, let's see see to those reviews.

Hmm...

They seem to be a little dusty...:

Rodvek97: Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

johnnymike98: Yes, I think the hippos are terrifying! I have special Bat Anti-Hippo spray waiting for them if they ever come near me again! Jasmine is going to be fun to work with. I already have more cards to give her later in the season AND a new deck idea for Season 2. I don't really know when Jaden will meet Ghost Mom. I'm not really focusing on Jaden and his crew that much in this story unless I get inspiration. The main focus is Max and his crew. And finally, if I could have a fictional series be a Deck, what would it be? If I had to pick just ONE for right now, I think it would have to be the Legend of Zelda. I thought it would be so cool to have the main monsters be the different versions of Zelda, Link, and Ganon the different games.

dragon rose 11: Jasmine will definetly have more to do. After all, she is the Leading Lady of this story. Unfortunately, for Mindy, I don't have much for her this season besides some jokes. However, I do have a good plot for her during the Second 2 that I hope you will like.

bopdog111: Hey, I PM'd you a response for this months ago, but just in case I'll just say it again. Max has 4 Different Decks. That's what he uses the dice for. To pick which one he should use. I will say that the Deck from Chapter 3's Exam was redone because I just couldn't be bothered to keep up with writing Lightsworns' effects being used in a duel. That's just too much. But the Deck that I've made to mix up my original design for that deck is even better than what I had with the Lightsworns. I hope you enjoy what I have in store with the rest of Max's Decks.

Argorok: Thank you very much! Will do!

Guest: That's what I was thinking too. I'm sticking to the 4 Decks. Just going to add or improve on what I can with them. I also think by working with this story like the anime, I can stretch out the reveal of every card for much later down in the story and still keep things interesting... Hopefully.

yann0406: Thank you! I'm sorry this took so long, but here it is!

yochan123: Thank you very much! And um... which "Senior" of Max's are you talking about? And yeah, it's been years since I've watched it and I've never even watched season 4. Now, I have more information cause I have to do research for this story. But Max isn't able to do research, so we'll see how he does with my pre-research knowledge. Also I enjoyed you Chapter 3 Review lol! And yeah Zane is not the best in lot's of things in my opinion.

Guest: Okay look, she was unfortunately going to die in canon anyway. This way she gets to stay with her child and enjoy Ghost/Duel Monster Mom antics! I know it looks bad but... Nah, I backed myself into a corner...

Guest: EH?! :D

NazgulBelserion: Yep, it's always been stupid. But then again most of the characters were kind of written as idiots and the teachers were unreliable to make the competition actually healthy and productive. Seperating their living conditions was really unacceptable... That's why Max gets to cheat MWAHAHAHA!

Bag of Holding: Fortune Lady Aqua is not an Aqua-type. She's a Spellcaster. She's a Water Attribute, but Umi doesn't give a boost for that.

Nickle2bird: I actually do not know. For this season, I'm going to say that besides Max there will be no OC's. However, I will most likely have some unique filler duels for the other seasons.

Once again, thank you all so much! Writing has made been a wonderful hobby for me to pick up and has made me feel ecstatic whenever I'm able to show it to you guys.

Welp, time to crawl into my hole again! Please look forward to a "Spooky" Chapter next time!

MiddlMo is out! Peace!
