Prince Hans twisted and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. Every time he attempted to close his eyes, that lovely Angel was all he could see.
He blinked when he realized that the reason he had come here was to take Arendelle's throne. He had been talked into it by his brother Lars, who eventually persuaded him that this kingdom was the only hope for his salvation. He could finally have something that he had never dreamed he could ever have. The crown. A kingdom he could proudly call his. why was he heading now out of the door?
"Keep in mind, Hans, that all you need to be is endearing and nice. Be active in every discussion you have with the queen. Just give her the space she requires if she doesn't want to talk about something. Give her a glimpse of your innermost thoughts so she can believe you. Keep eye contact and be positive." He strode down the hallway with expressionless, cloudy eyes. Elsa would always try to avert his gaze anytime she saw him with her sister. Could it be due to him and the peculiar course their relationship has taken? He thought back on his interactions with the Princess. Anna was considerably younger than Hans, and yet, she could act more audaciously than him. He couldn't even kiss Anna because her sister was on his mind. He wanted to act bolder, too, but not in Anna's presence. And just the mere thought of it turned him on. The younger sister crept out of her bedroom at that very moment and saw her fiance standing there. Thank God he hadn't changed out of his formal attire. Now that would be a disaster.
"Hans," Her cheeks felt hot with embarrassment when it dawned on her that she intended to sneak into his bedroom at this time of night.
"Did we think the same thing again?" She asked in an excited tone that matched her personality.
"Really?!" Hans tried to respond in his casual tone, unaware of what Anna had in mind. He scoffed and cleared his throat before adding, "And what would that be?" Anna shot him a teasing smile.
"Your Majesties," When the pair overheard that tiny unpleasant voice, they immediately recognized its owner. The Duke of Weselton approached them and remarked, "I'm so delighted to find you here!"
"I need to see the Queen,"
"I don't believe it's.." Anna's voice drifted off as she noticed her fiance staring down at the duke. The Duke opted to ignore him. After all, he had other things to take care of first. He extended his hand to the princess and said,
"My lady, I apologize for my manners, but Her Majesty gave us no other options. I came here under explicit instructions to continue our commercial relationship with your kingdom. For some reason, she just keeps pushing back our meeting." Hans placed a protective arm around Anna's waist. He didn't know why he did that. He just didn't trust that man. Anna didn't seem to mind, though.
"My fiancée's right. It can wait until tomorrow, whatever it was. In addition, the other dignitaries didn't appear to care. I'm confident that Queen Elsa has taken care of all pressing needs." The prince said while furrowing his brow. He intended to say, "You best stay away from the Queen," but when he heard the Duke speak again, he swallowed the words whole.
"I see!" He said, his face showing skepticism.
"You are correct. How could I be so callous?"
"Even though I don't think it's any of my concern, I'm going to inquire. Why are you two in the hallway?" Hans struggled to find the right wordsas he and Anna exchanged glances. How could he possibly imply such a thing? What was he trying to say? Anna quickly responded,
"H-He was leading me back to my bedroom," Hans turned to face her. She wrapped her robe tighter around her waist. In that instant, she felt so foolish. He responded, giving them a polite grin and saying,
"Oh, I see." They saw him walk away after wishing them good night. She sighed and wiped one of her perspiring palms on her nightgown. That was close. Hans was now staring at Elsa's bedroom door. Anna followed his gaze.
"I'm relieved that Elsa wasn't in her room. If she'd heard those things—"
"You mean she's not there?" He queried.
"She's in her study!" Anna merely replied. That piece of information was what Hans wanted to hear. He smiled at her.
"Pretty late now. You need to rest, my dear."Her large blue eyes met his as she turned to face him.
"If you say so," She said and went to her door. But, something stopped her from opening that door. To her unspoken wish, he approached her and kissed her forehead tenderly.
"Sleep tight, Princess!" She smiled at that.
"You, too, my Prince!" Hans knew what he wanted to do as soon as she entered her bedroom. He proceeded to queen Elsa's study without thinking twice and disregarded the nagging voice in the back of his mind. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply. He put his hand on the doorknob. His face started to go hot at the mere prospect of seeing her again. He walked inside without even bothering to knock. Elsa turned around to see him standing before her.
"You..." She mumbled. He smiled at her nervousness and bowed.
"Your Majesty," He simply said and moved closer. Elsa took a few steps back when she tripped over the enormous wooden table.
"You shouldn't be here!" She murmured as she set the completed documents aside.
"I couldn't stay away!" He confessed. Elsa gave him a curious glance. She was unable to infer the actual significance of his statements.
"I don't understand!" The queen responded, her cheeks turning bright red as he stood directly in front of her. She didn't even dare to look into his eyes, afraid of what she'd find in them. Hans lifted her chin, looking deeply into her lovely blue eyes. He gently ran his finger along her jawline before placing his hand behind her neck. Elsa's lips parted, and Hans couldn't help it any longer. He pressed a single, soft kiss on her perfect lips.
