Kadic Academy was a charming school Marinette thinks to herself as they pull up to the school. A private Boarding school that seems to hold a breath of air towards new we pull up to the school there seems to be a couple of teachers waiting for us at the front gate.
The first one is a Middle aged man with Brown hair, & a bandage on his cheek. He's wearing a red sweatshirt with the school's logo located over the heart, along with a pair of grey sweat pants & sneakers. If this guy doesn't end up being my new gym teacher, she'll be surprised.
The other guy is a more greying man wearing a brown jacket & sweater vest combination with a green tie. Thinking back to the school website, this must be Mr. Delmas the school's headmaster.
Before we exist the car Maman turns to me with a worried look in her eye. "Marinette, are you sure this is what you want? We could always switch to online schooling if you prefer that way you'll be closer to home"? She asks, I can tell she's not ready for me to leave so to reassure her I put a smile on my face & respond.
"I'm sure maman it'll be a new start, besides there are no Akuma attacks here & you signed the permission slip so I'll be able to visit during the weekend" I could tell my words reassured her slightly as some tension left her shoulders.
"Well if that's the case sweetie, let's go meet your new teachers". Maman says as we exit the car & make our way to the two teachers in front of the school. Mr. Delmas is the first one to step up & speak.
"Mister & Misses Dupain-Cheng I welcome you to Kadic academy & this must be your daughter Marinette, we're honoured you chose to continue your studies at our school. I am Jean-Pierre Delmas Headmaster of this Academy but you may call me Mr Delmas, & besides me is our school's gym teacher Jim Morales, he'll be showing you around today". Mr. Delmas gestures to the gym teacher beside him.
"Nice to meet your Mr. Delmas & Mr. Morales". I say going to shake their hands, though Mr. Morales got a sour look on his face as I say this for some reason.
"Please call me Jim, everyone does". Mr. Mo- Jim corrects me before coughing to himself & continuing on with what he was saying. "Anyways I welcome you to Kadic Academy & I'll be giving you a tour of your new school today".
"Thank you Jim" I say, setting my stuff down & turning back to my parents one more time before they leave. "I'll miss you guys so much"
"We'll miss you too Marinette & remember to call us once a week & if you're feeling home sick we're only a bus & a Train ride away" Maman says as she breaks away from the hug with teary eyes."
"I promise"
As my parents leave the school I notice Mr. Delmas Grabbing my Bags & starting to carry them away.
"Uh Jim where is Mr. Delmas taking my stuff"? I can't help but ask worried. Please don't tell me they're throwing away all my stuff including the Miracle Box & my Sewing Machine.
"Oh Don't worry he's just taking your stuff up to your new dorm room so it's not just sitting outside for anyone to grab while I give you the tour, now if you'll follow me Let's start our tour with the Cafeteria." Jim explains as he leads me on the tour of the school.
"But he's the principal, why is he doing such a menial job"? Besides, my sewing weighs a ton wouldn't it be better for Jim to carry it since he's the gym teacher?
"Well to be honest normally I would be the one to carry two bags to the dorm while Mr. Delmas leads the tour but before you got here we played rock paper scissors on who would give you the tour & who would take your bags to your dorm, & I won". Jim said with a cheeky grin while making a snipping scissors motion with his fingers making me laugh at his sillness. Maybe this school won't be so bad if the teachers are this friendly with each other but how that translates into teaching ability has yet to be seen.
~~~~Time skip till after the Tour~~~~
"Now the Very last stop on the tour is your dorm room, I hope you & your new roommate will get along". Jim says as we finish this surprisingly through the Tour of the Cambus that lasted at least 2 hours, which never once got dull. But it's been a long day & i'm just looking forward to unpacking my stuff & laying down for a bit before dinn- WAIT DID HE SAY ROOMMATE?
"Wait Roommate but I requested to be put in a solo Dorm". I can't help but ask, After all Having a roommate will make it harder to sneak out at night for late night Akuma attacks, not to mention it'll be harder to keep the Kwami's hidden in my room if they start flying about on their own, oh maybe Tikki should talk to them after all they had to stay hidden when Master Fu's shop was open so their used to it by now. BUt what about my Commissions sometimes the only time I have to work on them is late at night & what if my Roommate complains about the noise & me keeping them up all night long. Oh this will be a Disaster.
"I'm sorry but we are all out of Solo dorms in the girls dorm until next Year when the Graduating class leaves. If you'd like we can put you on the waiting list for a solo dorm for when that happens. As it happens about a month ago another girl Transferred to the school & demanded a Solo dorm herself & even had her family offer up a bunch of money to make this happen. Now normally we wouldn't allow such a thing, but since another girl was willing to offer up their dorm in exchange this once the rich kid got their way. As it happens the girl who offered up their dorm will now be your roommate, & I'm sure they're just dying to meet you so, let's get you settled in". Jim explains what Happened. On the bright side it doesn't seem like people's money doesn't dictate how things are run here.
Plus if this girl was willing to give up a solo Dorm then they must be at least somewhat nice. But Alya was nice too at first, but people can change. Oh what am I worried about? I haven't even met this girl yet it's not like it's another Lila or Chloe if they were willing to have a roommate, so I just need to woman up & meet this girl already. I am Ladybug after all I've dealt with worse than just meeting a new girl. I take a deep breath to settle my nerves.
"I'm ready" I tell Jim as he knocks on my new dorm room.
"Ms Schaeffer, it's Jim, I'm here with your new roommate". Jim somewhat yells at the door
"Come in". The voice of my new roommate( Ms. Schaeffer apparently) calls from within the room as Jim opens the door to let me see my new dorm for the first time.
It's a traditional 2 bed dorm room like I saw in the online website for the school. 2 beds, 2 closets/wardrobes, & 2 desks. The left side of the room is bare except for the green skeets on the bed & pillows, plus my Luggage on the best which looks like it's hasn't been opened yet. The right side is much more interesting. The bed is decorated with a red blanket with purple pillows. The only doll on the bed was an old beaten up elf doll with pink hair(Maybe she'll let me patch that doll up for her; it looks so cute). On the wall are posters of the Subdigitals, Jagged Stone, & Albert Einstein(?)huh, that's an interesting combination. On my roommates desk I see several books, a Music soundboard, & a really high tech computer that looks like it's been modified and really skilled with Technology. I also notice a couple of group photos on her desk but I can't see the people in them real well from here
Then there's my Roommate herself sitting at her desk working on some Homework. First thing I noticed about her is her short pink hair, was she born with pink hair because it looked Natural not like I'm one to talk since I've been told my hair looks blue in certain lighting. Next thing I notice of course is her outfit which consists of a dark purple dress that comes to her knees and light pink quarter length leggings underneath, which is nice but I'm sure I could whip up something that suits her better.
Noticing my Arrival my Roommate turns her attention away from her homework, & to me as she stands up from her chair to greet me at the door with a kind smile 7 a handshake.
"Hello my name is Aelita Schaeffer, it's a pleasure to meet you". She says as I shake her hand in return but before I can introduce myself Jim reminds us he's still here by introducing me to Aelita without me asking.
"Ms Schaeffer this is your new roommate Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng, now I trust you'll help her out around the school as she settles in & don't help her get into trouble, like you & you're trouble making friends always seem to get into. I've noticed you've been too quiet lately" he says, eyeing her suspiciously.
Why is she pegged for a trouble maker I wonder as I look at Aelita in confusion. Is it her hair colour? Because she seems like a smart student judging from the books on her desk.
"Why Jim, I have no idea what you're talking about". Aelita says in a tone as if she's had this conversation more than a few times before. As Jim gives her a stink eye before leaving the room & us alone.
"Uhh Hi I'm Ma-Marinette it's nice to meet you". I stammer out as I shake Aelita's hand.
"Nice to meet you too Marinette, do you need any help unpacking your things". She asks pointing to my bags on the bed, as I wince thinking about how long all of this will take by myself/
"You know what that sounds amazing, thanks". I say as Aeilta walks over & picks up my sewing Machine with ease.
"No Problem do you mind if I set this Sewing Machine up for you so it doesn't short circuit anything? '' She asks as I think. If she works on setting up my Sewing Machine then that would give me time to hide the Miracle Box.
"Sounds good oh just a heads up I tend to work on things Pretty late into the night I hope the light & sound won't bother you". I might as well give her the heads up now before she complains about it.
"I don't mind I can be a deep sleeper if I want to be besides I can always borrow some ear plugs from my friend Ulrich if the noise gets on my nerves, & buy an eye mask easily" Aelita says as she works on my sewing Machine I Hide the Miracle box in the Bottom Drawer of my closet/dresser. It was Surprisingly easy to get her to agree to wear ear plugs at night. Maybe this won't be too bad.
"Wow thanks, so who's Ulrich". I ask, trying to make conversation as we work.
"He's one of my best friends along with Odd who's Ulrich's roommate, Yumi, and my boyfriend Jeremire. I'd like to introduce you at dinner later when we finish here". Aelita says as she walks over to her desk & grabs one of the photo's to show me her friends. There's Aelita in the Photo then a Japanese girl with black hair, a boy with Brown hair & 2 more boys with blond hair though the shorter one also has a Purple streak down the middle of their hair.
"I'd love that" I say as I put the photo back on Aelita's desk. We continue working pretty well as we set up my half of the room, as we ask questions back & forth to get to know each other, & just when we're about to finish Aelita asks me the one question I wasn't ready for.
"So why did you choose to transfer to Kadic anyways during the middle of the school year"? She asks while Arranging my stuffed animals on my now pink & black bed. I panic. I try to think of something to tell her. I can't reveal the fact I moved to hide the miraculous from Hawkmoth & what if she Judges me for running from Lila instead of confronting her. I know I have to say something so I just say the thing that comes to mind.
"I'd uhh rather not talk about it"? I squeak out cringing at how suspicious that sounded. But instead of questioning me, Aelita just started Laughing? This continues for a minute & I'm just gobstruck out of all the reactions I expected this was not one of them.
"Uh what"? I ask, voicing my confusion as Aelita seems to Sober up.
"Sorry, Sorry you just sounded like Jim for a Moment there". She says, wiping a tear from her eye, as she notices my confusion. "Sorry it's just when Jim mentions something really interesting from his past & anyone ever asks a question about it the response we always get from him is "I'd Rather not talk about it". Aelita finishes with a Jim impression making me laugh
"Oh that's all then, it sounds like I'll fit in here then". I laugh as well before noticing the time. "Whoa, we've gotta get going, looks like dinner is going to start soon".
Aelita seems startled at the news & grabs her pink phone that has an interesting Eye/Bullseye hybrid symbol on the back of it as she checks the time for herself. "You're right it's best we get going before Odd gets all the food", Aelita exclaims as she grabs my hand & rushes us out the door to the cafeteria.
I can't help but think I'm going to like it here
