CHAPTER 23

It had been three days since their conversation on Vision. Most of Sanchi's time was spent either with Okoye and the Dora Milaje or Shuri. She was either training on the ground or working in the lab. Other times she would just see the beautiful view of the mountains. Those were the times she would spend with the Queen Mother. It would seem that she also liked the peace there. She would not mind her. Both of them just sat there in comfortable silence.

She took out time for dad as well. Every night they would sit on her bed and talk about their day. Though he would not tell her everything about his official talks with the king but she knew enough. He would then kiss her goodnight and leave.

Yesterday night also went the same but he looked as if he wanted to say something but was refraining himself from doing so. Bringing him out of his dilemma she asked him, "What is the matter dad?"

He sighed and remained silent for a few seconds. She decided to push him further but before she could say anything he said, "I don't know if I should tell you. If I tell you then you will also want to come and I don't think that I will like that. Do you get it?"

"If you don't tell me what the problem is then how will I decide what to do?" She replied.

"I want to meet Barnes." He declared.

She was surprised, to say the least. She didn't expect this. There were two ways to look at it and maybe they were the two reasons why her father wanted to meet Bucky. One could be that he wanted to meet the best friend of one of his friends as it would be right. Another could be that he wanted to confront his parents' murderer. Each would be something anyone would want to do.

Knowing that he was expecting a reply she made a face of confusion and said, "Isn't he the same man who had a metal arm. He was on Captain's side or should I say that captain was trying to say save him."

"You are right." And Tony realized that she didn't know entirely about him and his past. That could lead to wrong decisions as well so he continued, "But that is not all, Sergeant James Barnes was Captain's best friend since his war days. He was thought to be dead at that time but Hydra got him and he became The Winter Soldier." he explained.

She knew that he was telling her this because he thought she didn't know. But what he didn't know was her relation with Bucky of her time and the time they spent together. He was like a fun uncle just like Sam was. But she listened to him intently not wanting to break his illusion.

At last, he revealed the main reason behind his wariness, "As The Winter Soldier he also killed my parents, and now I'm worried about your safety as well."

Acting shocked as this was something she already knew, "What?" she shouted then sat down on the bed again and said, "Then I should go with you. I don't want you to go alone." It was true, she was worried for him. He could get upset or angry or lose control of himself.

"That is why I didn't want to tell you." He protested. Their fight went on for quite some time. In the end, when she won, she hugged him and gave him a kiss on his cheek.

It would mean that tomorrow she would get to know the results of her metabolism and she would meet Bucky as well.

The next morning everyone huddled in the med room and waited patiently for the results. Her metabolism was to be estimated and she had already undergone some tests regarding that. She knew her B.M.R. would be high.

A man with a white coat entered suddenly and said something to T'Challa in a different language. He then turned to others and said, "I have the results. It's awesome. Her metabolism can be compared to Captain Rogers and The White Wolf. I would advise that she sleeps and eats more as this would enhance her powers and healing."

Her father looked pointedly at her, "See, we just need to give you more to eat. I was right." He said. He had always insisted that she ate less. She just nodded

"Mr. Stark, we also saw a little change in her body." The doctor said.

"What was it?" Dad enquired.

"Uhh… I think she's more spider-like. That is, umm… she is cold-blooded." He said though his tone suggested that he was not believing that himself. Everyone else's reaction was genuine as they were all shocked, including her. It could mean a lot of things and this could be the reason behind her sensitivity toward the ever-changing weather.

The doctor continued, "This would mean that she would feel very hot in summers and very cold in winters. Though I would be more careful in winters as spiders tend to hibernate."

'Great' she thought. 'This would make dad even more worried'. She risked a glance at him. Yup, he was definitely worried. But Shuri's reaction was different, it was as if she was calculating. Her eyes held a knowing spark.

"Can we do anything regarding that?" Dad's worried voice pulled her out of her mind. But the doctor just replied, "Prevention is better than cure."

After that everyone dispersed. But Shuri came to her, "Lab. Now." She said urgently.

She looked at her father, "Just don't be late. We also have to meet Barnes."

Before she could say anything Shuri asked excitedly, "Bucky! Can I also come?" She then look at her brother as if asking for his permission who nodded, so even dad agreed.

They rushed to the lab. "What happened?" Sanchi asked the moment they entered the lab.

"The solution to your problem happened," Shuri replied proudly.

"Go on." Sanchi pushed.

"We have a weakness. You cannot withstand cold so let us use that to our advantage and just expose you to very low temperatures. If you are sick then your father will not care about any alien attack." She said smugly.

It was a great idea but another problem entered her mind, 'Okay, it's great but what if I die. We don't know much about it. What if I can't come out of hibernation?"

"You will." Shuri said with certainty, "Every spider does. You don't want your plan to fail now, do you?"

"Yeah, you're probably right. So let us just stick to this plan now. Wait for a second, what is the plan? How will I come in contact with such low temperature and that too in August? Also, I can't go anywhere as my school would be going on, and more importantly, I have to stay in New York." She asked.

"Let's think. I am sure we are both smart enough for that." Shuri said. Both of them sat with their hands on their chin. By the time they left to meet Bucky, both of them had a huge smile on their face. They had an idea to cause hyperthermia.
