They found her.

Emily didn't know how but they had. The call seemed to have time altering capabilities. Everything seemed to go by in a whirl but not quite fast enough.

She notified Garcia the instant she realised who was on the phone, or rather she yelled for someone to do something and someone did.

They debated sending local units to the location Garcia had traced JJ to, but JJ convinced them otherwise.

"He's gone. Don't send the locals. I think this was just a getaway plan" the petite blonde reassured the team over the phone. Emily thought it bizarre that she was the one doing the reassuring at this moment.

She had so many questions she wanted to ask the agent, but only one word came out "Stock?".

The implication clear. The younger agent had used it on the stubborn brunette when she refused medical attention before. ("At least let me know the extent? Take stock? I don't want you to lie to me either you know!" – As if Emily could lie to her even if she wanted to)

The blonde stayed silent – all Emily could hear was shuffling. The blonde on her end could hear Velcro. Their vests she reasoned. The cavalry was coming.

She exhaled – "I think a few bruises, around my wrists and ankles, rope burn probably as well" the restraints in her feet now gone but the cuffs remained. "A concussion most likely, he drugged me with something too- chloroform I think it took a while to work."

"That all?" To an outsider this would seem condescending. The intended audience, the intended agent knew this was simply a repetition of the discussions they'd had in the past. Usually the brunette was on the receiving end of the question and she could honestly say that she much preferred it that way.

She refused to explore what the description meant at the moment. They had a long drive ahead of them and having to consider all that would drive her crazy. She'd have to accept that she would have to wait and see. She kept the blonde on the phone the whole time. After delving into a brief explanation – she came to after some time, with a phone (not hers, hers was in evidence as Emily explained) within her reach- they got quiet. Hearing the blonde's breath on the phone was enough for now.

Toxicology report complete, painkillers prescribed, a description of the events (strictly the events – not their causes) complete JJ was ready to go home.

She told them of his confession, they had already figured most of it out. She didn't tell them of her history with him. In her defence they hadn't asked. In Hotchner's defence he'd been threatened by a very convincing brunette.

She reasoned with him – they could chuck this up as a strategic abduction to distract them (which it had) in the reports, it would make no difference. And clearly they weren't entitled to digging into the woman's past, the whole team could relate to the need for privacy. And if this decision came to bite them in the ass she was going to take the brunt of it. No documentation of him giving orders to look into JJ, only Emily making the requests. This was not related to their case. Only to JJ.

Which is what made this matter so much to the older woman. Well, she didn't say that last part to him though.

JJ stayed in hospital overnight. Emily came back the next morning to let her know what was going on.

She knocked on the already open door softly.

The younger agent seemed startled at first but visibly relaxed when she realised it was only Emily. Only Emily.

"How're you doing?" Stupid question she thought. She's probably still terrified the fucker is still out there. That's what she was coming to let her know. The rest of the team announced the profile and made one arrest – the son – who admitted to everything very easily. Morgan handled that interview. The son had had given them everything he thought they would need to find him, and yet he remained in hiding.

"Not too bad" came the response accompanied with a half-smile. "Daisy – my friend is coming by with Henry a little later. I couldn't wait until they released me to see him." The explanation of the relationship between Daisy and the agent hadn't been completed. The agent herself being the reason. Emily was still curious though, for everything.

The brunette bit the inside of her cheek, the action not going unnoticed by JJ.

"They haven't caught him yet have they?" The threat he made against Henry still fresh in her mind.

"No, seems he's disappeared. We have his son though. You gave us everything to close the case at least – give their families an explanation". The brunette hurried to provide some sense of purpose to the whole ordeal.

"Yeah some consolation that must be" came the reply accompanied by an eyeroll.

It seemed pointless sometimes. The victims, well 99% of the victims, didn't deserve what happened to them. Most had nothing to do with the motive, just living their lives. Explanations provided nothing in terms of justification. They hadn't died defending some noble cause. They'd died because of someone else's misguided attempt at control.

The response worried the brunette.

"He's still free to do that again." The response further perplexed the brunette. The son was caught, an integral part to the whole 'operation' they were putting forward. She wasn't delusional enough to think that this meant a stop to what was happening, but she knew that he would stop this for a while to lay low. She knew, well, she hoped they would catch him before he started up with whatever new form his M.O. took.

She also knew that they were going home at the end of the day, leaving the manhunt to the locals. They had given the profile, they'd done what was within their expertise. That did nothing to pacify her if she were honest.

She took a seat next to the bed, taking the other woman's hand in her own. "He's not coming close to you again, that much I will make sure".
