Hey y'all! Welcome back to "Can You See All of Me?"! FINALLY! I'm finally at the chapter where the first of my original songs comes in! I have the song at a state where I'm somewhat happy with it (it's still not the best, but I feel it's a good first try for someone who's never written a song before!). And before anyone yells at me like "YoU cAn'T wRiTe SoNgFiCs!", I'm using an original song that I myself wrote. That guideline is for pre-existing lyrics. This is gonna be the longest chapter so far too, so I hope y'all like it!

"OW! Mamí, stop! It's not going to work!" Camilo said, squirming out of his mother's grip. Pepa huffed and set the hairbrush down, placing her hands on her hips.
"Cami, your hair is so unruly! Well, more so than usual…. Let me at least try to tame it just a little…" she said, sighing when Camilo shook his head.
"It's fine Mamí…. It's no more unruly than usual! Brushing it isn't going make a difference..… I'm going to go check on Antonio….. Why don't you check on Dolores and see if she needs any help?" suggested Camilo, leaving before his mother could argue. Pepa sighed and shook her head, smiling slightly at how much of a teen her son was being. Taking his suggestion she went to check on her daughter, knocking on the door.
"Dolores, can I come in?" she asked, entering once she got the ok from her daughter. She looked around, smiling at all the soundproofing on the walls. Pepa walked over to the vanity in the room, where he daughter was putting in a pair of music note-shaped earrings.
"Hola Mamá…." said Dolores, smiling. "Mirabel did wonderfully on your dress…. Love the ruffles….." said Dolores, turning to her mother. Her own dress was similar to her usual outfit, but more of a butter yellow with a sine wave design along the collar and sound wave designs along the skirt. Pepa smiled, adjusting her sun-themed ruffle dress and untangling the raindrop tassles on it.
"She did wonderfully on yours as well hija….. Come, let's meet the others in the courtyard…" said Pepa, leading the way as the two made their ways downstairs. They were met by Félix, who was wearing a sun yellow Kariba suit* to match his wife's dress. Pepa giggled as he took her hand and helped her down the last couple of steps.
"You girls look wonderful! Felíz Cumpleaños mi sol….." said Félix, kissing his wife's cheek. Pepa smiled and thanked him, looking around and frowning.
"Where are the others?" she asked, having thought they would be in the courtyard already. As if on cue Camilo can running down, being playfully chased by Antonio and Parce. They were soon followed by Luisa, who was wearing a simple indigo dress with her hair in a low bun, and Mirabel, who was wearing a very colorful and decorative dress.
"You two look wonderful!" said Pepa, going over and hugging them as the others came down. "Mirabel, you did so wonderful on the outfits! I mean, the herbs on Julieta's dress are a beautiful touch!" she added, smiling.
"I just made outfits I thought would suit everyone….. Freddy was the hardest, but I managed to make something perfect for him!" said Mirabel as Freddy came down with Gregory. Bruno looked at the bear with the others, taking in the beige pants and red guayabera* he was wearing. He had to admit, the outfit looked good on the animatronic and even seemed to suit him.
"I still think you didn't have to do this Mirabel…" said Freddy as he looked over the clothes. Mirabel waved him off, rolling her eyes playfully.
"I told you, it was my pleasure! Now then, we should get down to the town square and-" Mirabel started, but she was cut off by Isabela.
"Wait! Just one more thing before we go….." Isabela said, smiling. She walked over to Pepa and gently ran a hand down her braid, yellow irises growing along it. "Yellow irises to represent passion, as well as persistence since they can grow in a variety of environments…." she said, moving over to her mother and waving her hand to allow a pair of leaves, a pale blue flower and honeycomb-like* flowers surrounding the pale blue one.
"Isabela, they're beautiful…. I recognize the chicory and the peppermint, but what's the other ones?" asked Julieta, smiling at her oldest.
"Those are yarrow….. they symbolize healing and inspiration…." Isabela answered before flicking her hand to grow some cream and butter yellow flowers along the hairband holding Dolores' hair up. "Matthiola…. Better known as stock, they symbolize lasting beauty, a happy life, and bonds of affection….. They were Mariano's idea…" said Isabela, giggling as Dolores looked at her fiancé in surprise and then with love.
"I'm guessing the colors are to represent both Dolores and Mariano?" asked Gregory, looking at the flowers in awe. Isabela nodded, then added flowers to Luisa and Mirabel's hair. "Gladiolus Carneus for Luisa to symbolize strength of character, honor and conviction… and for Mirabel, protea to symbolize courage, transformation, daring, resourcefulness, and diversity…." she said, earning a hug from her sisters before adding a dahlia to her grandmother's hair.
"Thank you Isa…. They're lovely….." said Alma before everyone began to leave Casita to head to the town square. Bruno fell back a bit as he tried to keep himself calm about going into public, though he was surprised when Freddy slowed down to join him while Gregory rushed ahead to ask Isabela about the flowers in her own hair.
"Are you alright?" asked Freddy, looking at the 51-year-old with concern. Bruno gulped, but gave a shaky smile and tried to play it off.
"F-fine! J-Just fine! M-Maybe just a bit nervous, but…." Bruno trailed off and sighed, fiddling with the sleeves of his green liqui liqui*. "I… just don't feel safe out in public, y'know? Even with most of the town accepting me back….." he explained, avoiding eye contact. Freddy watched him for a bit, then broke the silence.
"I understand it is scary for you to go out in public after what happened….. Agoraphobia is not a fun condition….. however, does it make you feel safer knowing the rest of us are here to look out for you and keep you safe?" asked Freddy, smiling to try and comfort Bruno. Bruno looked up at him and couldn't help but give a small smile back as they reached the town square.
"Mamá!" said Agustín, hugging Seda when she turns around to them. The seamstress happily hugged him back.
"Aye, mi hijo! You look so handsome in your suit! Just like your father…" Seda said as she smiled at her son, hugging Julieta as well. "Julieta! I always knew you and my son would be a perfect match….. You two are still so lovely together… and my nietas! Come here girls!" she said, walking over and hugging her three granddaughters. "Mirabel, still so creative! I mean, look at that dress! You get that from me…." Seda said, laughing a bit.
"It's great to see you Abuela Seda!" said Luisa, hugging the older woman back.
"It's great to see you too dear! Oh, you look so lovely in that dress! Indigo is so beautiful on you….. and Isabela! Gorgeous as ever, just like the flowers and plants you grow! That dress only enhances your beauty!" said Seda as Isabela hugged her back.
"You like it? Mirabel designed it after the bleeding hearts flowers, adding an extra layer of pink under the white….. I added the violets on the white to make it pop a bit, and to go with the ones in my hair…" Isabela said, twirling a bit so the petal-like skirt of her dress flared out a bit.
"Well, it certainly suits you! So glad you all could make it and-" Seda started when another woman's voice cried out in excitement.
"FÉLIX! MI HIJO!" shouted a woman who came running over, hugging Félix tightly. The woman looked slightly older than Seda, her silvery black hair hanging in loose curls over her shoulders and her brown eyes holding kindness and warmth.
"Mamá! Glad you could make it!" said Félix, hugging the woman back as a man, who Freddy assumed was Félix's father, walked up. The woman soon released her son and quickly hugged Pepa.
"Pepa! You look gorgeous! You all do! Oh! Where's my grandbabies?!" said the woman, looking around. At her voice Antonio, Camilo, and Dolores all perked up and turned to her.
"Abuela Clarissa*!" they all said, running over and hugging the woman. Clarissa laughed and hugged them back happily.
"Mi nietos! You all look so wonderful! It's so great to see you all! Right mi amor?" she asked, turning to her husband. He nodded, then raised an eyebrow at seeing Freddy. Clarissa noticed as well.
"And who is this?" she asked, stepping closer to examine Freddy. Freddy smiled and gave a polite wave.
"My name is Freddy. It's nice to meet you, Miss….."
"Clarissa! Clarissa Montaña*! And this is my husband, Lionel!" Clarissa said, smiling. Freddy nodded, then looked around as more people began gathering in the town square. The entire town was there and chatting, obviously getting ready for the start of the celebration. He smiled, joining in the conversations and answering questions that were asked until Alma motioned to the triplets, who joined her by the mural.
"Attention everyone, attention please!" called Alma, smiling as the conversations died down and everyone turned their attention to her. Alma smiled. "Thank you…. As many of you know, it has been 51 years… 51 years since our beloved Encanto formed, 51 years since my beloved hijos were born….. and 51 year since some of us lost loved ones on that fateful journey…." she said, gesturing to several wreaths with pictures of the deceased in them, Freddy recognizing the forget-me-not wreath Isabela had made for Pedro among them.
"Before we celebrate the Encanto and my children, we have decided to honor our loved ones…. Those who lost family that day, please come up and grab the wreath with their picture…. We will be taking them to the river and sending them off….." Alma said, smiling sadly. One by one residents came up and grabbed a wreath while others were handed white candles. Among them was Victor's family, Enrique grabbing a wreath that held the photo of a man, most likely Victor's grandfather. Once everyone had their wreaths, Pepa gently grabbed the one that held Pedro's photo and, with a sad smile, began leading the way to the crack in the mountains.
"We're going to the mountains?" asked Freddy, frowning as everyone made their way through the town and the crack in the mountains.
"We are taking the wreaths to the river outside of the Encanto… that's where Abuelo was lost and where the Encanto was born…. It only makes sense…." said Mirabel, smiling sadly as they went through the crack. As they got through Freddy saw the river, stunned at the colors in it. He figured he had been so worried about Gregory and finding shelter during the storm that he had completely overlooked it.
"Everyone holding a wreath, please step up to the river….." said Alma, watching as everyone with a wreath stepped up to the river. "We all lost loved ones that day… mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers….. but, their memories will remain strong and we shall continue to honor them… everyone, please place your wreaths in the river so they may be sent off as we have a moment of silence for those who are no longer here….." Alma said. As the wreaths were placed in the river and sent off everyone bowed their heads in respect, remaining silent.
Once the last wreath disappeared down the river Alma said a silent prayer, then led everyone back into town after Isabela sent some flowers after the wreaths. Freddy looked back at the river, his ears lowering.
"I am curious… I thought honoring the dead would be done at night…." he said, looking over when Dolores gently placed a hand on his arm.
"While it does make sense, we always honor the dead first as a way to show they are still in our hearts…. Think of it as an invitation as well… by honoring them first, we keep their memories alive and invite them to watch the rest of the festivities from Heaven…" Dolores explained, smiling softly. Freddy thought about it, then nodded as they reached the town square.
"Everyone, gather around! It's time to celebrate my children and our Encanto!" said Alma, smiling as everyone clapped and cheered. Mirabel stepped forward, smiling brightly.
"Everyone, my father, Tío Félix and I have a special gift for the birthday girls and guy! We've been working on this for a while now, and we feel it's ready! To the triplets Madrígal, we've prepared a special song!" Mirabel announced, smiling at the looks of surprise and excitement on Julieta and Pepa's faces as she gestured her uncle and father over. Agustín gave the signal and the band started playing as Mirabel took the lead.
Our story starts on that day oh so long ago
Back when Abuela was with our dearest Abuelo
For on the he gave his life and our Encanto formed
Three very special babies were born
So let's have some fun and make this a day and night to remember
Even though we all know it can't last forever
We received a miracle on this special day of fall
For today was the birth of the Triplets Madrígal!
Mirabel nodded to her uncle and dad and they joined in on the song.
Felíz Cumpleaños!
Felíz Cumpleaños!
To the magical trio!
Felíz Cumpleaños!
Felíz Cumpleaños!
Now let's introduce you to my mom, tía, and tío!
Agustín ran forward and grabbed Julieta's hands, pulling her with him into the center of the crowd as he danced with her. Julieta laughed slightly when he stumbled, but that didn't stop him from singing his lines of the song.
Born first was mi amor Julieta
The day I met her I felt blessed
I fell hard, she stole my heart
For she's the one I love the best!
"Félix!" yelled Pepa, laughing as he spun her and dipped her. He smiled as he lifted her back up, the two dancing in sync as he began his part.
Married in a hurricane, still the best day of my life!
For that was the day mi sol became my wife!
I love her day and night, in the rain or sunshine
For mi amor Pepa is my rainbow divine!
"Oh you!" said Pepa, grinning as they continued dancing. Mirabel smiled and ran over to Bruno, taking his hands. Bruno shook his head slightly, not wanting to be the center of attention, but Mirabel encouraged him and dragged him to the center of the crowd, many of whom cheered at seeing him.
Last but not least is mi Tío Bruno
Though the last few years he's had it rough
To the rest of us he's worth more than gold
And we're so happy to have him with us!
While Mirabel was singing many failed to notice the look of disgust on Victor's face. He hated how Bruno was being celebrated, seeing the youngest triplet as being more of a curse than a blessing. He scoffed quietly, slowly making his way from the crowd. He was going to show Bruno just exactly what he thought of him. He just had to figure out a way to get the prophet alone, though he figured it wouldn't be too hard, seeing as everyone was too wrapped up in the celebration. He made his way out of the crowd, listening to the rest of the song from a distance as he plotted.
Back with the crowd, Mirabel and the others were finishing up their song, completely unaware that the night would soon come to a disastrous end.
Felíz Cumpleaños!
Felíz Cumpleaños!
Come on, let's all celebrate!
Felíz Cumpleaños!
Felíz Cumpleaños!
It's time to party, so why should we wait?!
We're so happy to have you here
With the good, the bad, and the sadness we've all been through
We wanted to say "Happy Birthday!"
And celebrate our gift, which includes you!
"FELÍZ CUMPLEAÑOS!"
Tons of confetti burst from seemingly nowhere, raining down as everyone cheered and hollered. Julieta hugged her youngest daughter and husband as Pepa placed a kiss on Félix's cheek.
"That was wonderful you three! An amazing birthday gift!" said Pepa, smiling as the band began playing more music to dance to.
"I agree! Come, let's continue the celebration and have fun!" said Alma, gesturing for them to join the others in the party. They happily did so, chatting with other residents and eating and dancing. Freddy stood to the side and encouraged Gregory to go talk with some of the other kids his age, smiling as the 10-year-old hesitantly did so. He almost didn't notice Dolores step up to him, her head tilted as she listened to something.
"Dolores? Are you alright?" he asked when he did notice, frowning as she had an expression of worry on her face.
"I hear it again….. Something outside of the Encanto…. It sounds like… footsteps, but they're heavier than what normal footsteps sound like….." Dolores answered, squeaking a bit. Freddy frowned again. Was another outsider on their way to the Encanto? If so, why? Was it Fazbear Entertainment looking for him? He snapped out of his thoughts when Dolores gently placed a hand on his arm, a soft smile on her face.
"I'm sure it's nothing to be too worried about….. perhaps someone has simply lost their way… Anyways, aren't you going to join in?" she asked, gesturing to the group dancing in the center of the square.
"Oh, I, uh….. To be honest, it's been some time since I've danced….. I have a….. programming bug that can make it… difficult to do so safely…" said Freddy, rubbing the back of his sheepishly. He wished that programming bug of his had been fixed, but per usual Fazbear Entertainment had overlooked it and simply forbade him from going onto the West Arcade dance floor anymore. Dolores couldn't help but giggle, smiling up at him.
"I'm sure it's not too bad…. Perhaps you can ask Tío Bruno if he wants to join you….." she suggested, looking around and frowning when she couldn't find her uncle. "Not again… I hope he's just gone to sit somewhere quiet….." she said quietly, tilting her head to try and listen for him. Antonio, rushed past them on Parce, laughing as the jaguar ran down one of the streets. He became confused when Parce slowed down a bit when running down another street, the two hearing voices in a nearby alley.
"P-Please! I j-just wanted to find a quiet place to r-relax…." said Bruno, his voice shaking.
"Shut up brujo! Unlike the others you are a stain on the Encanto!" said a voice that Antonio knew belonged to Victor. Antonio gasped and urged Parce to run back to the others and alert them, knowing that even if Dolores heard it too he'd be able to lead them back to the area they were in.
"P-Please! L-Leave me alone!" said Bruno trying to keep his voice steady as he backed away from Victor. He yelped slightly as he was shoved violently to the ground by the younger man, feeling his breath get knocked out of him slightly as he hit the ground.
"I'll leave you alone alright….. alone in the jungle outside of the Encanto!" said Victor, laughing as he kicked Bruno against the wall at the end of the alley. Bruno felt himself beginning to hyperventilate, finding it hard to breathe as he clutched his chest, which felt like it was being constricted. Nonononono, not now! Not again! Somebody, help me! He thought, feeling his vision becoming distorted slightly as he felt himself becoming lightheaded.
"Look at you, you're pathetic!" snarled Victor, watching as Bruno's breathing came in short bursts and the man before him begin shaking violently. He made a move to punch Bruno when someone grabbed his wrist, the newcomer's grip being especially strong.
"The hell do you think you're doin', little guy?" asked a deep growling voice, with Victor suddenly being yanked away from Bruno. Bruno looked up, his vision tilting and fading in and out, making his feel nauseous. He could barely make out something large and green flinging Victor back down towards the entrance of the alley, blobs of other colors appearing as his family came running to his rescue. He could barely make out his name being called by who he thought was Pepa, her voice sounding like it was coming from miles away underwater. He heard the others calling his name, then his world went black.
O.O BRUNO NO! What happened to the precious cinnamon roll that is Bruno?! Who saved him? Why is Victor such an asshole- wait, that last one has an answer…. Because he just is XD. Anyways, hope y'all enjoyed the chapter! I know my original song isn't the best, but I like how it turned out and I hope y'all don't mind it. Now, onto obligatory translations and explanations!
*Kariba suits are a type of two piece suit worn in the Caribbean. Since the people behind Encanto said Félix has some Caribbean inspiration behind his character I felt it would be fitting to give him something from the Caribbean area to wear for the celebration.
*Guayabera: A type of shirt worn in the Caribbean region. It's the type of shirt Félix is shown wearing in the movie.
*I used the phrase "honeycomb-like" to describe yarrow flowers because, when I look at pictures of them, their shape reminds me of honeycombs.
*Liqui liqui: A form of traditional suit that originated in Venezuela but is also found in Colombia, from what I could find in my research.
*the name "Clarissa", from what I could find, is Latin in origin and means "Bright and clear". I felt it would suit my version of Félix's mother well.
*"Montaña" is the Spanish word for "mountain". I felt it would be perfect as Félix's original last name/family last name since he's so supportive of his familia.
Note: I am not fluent in Spanish and am using a translator. If anything seems off about any translations, please feel free to let me know!
The songs that influenced my song are: "The Party's Just Begun" by the Cheetah Girls, "A Night to Remember" from High School Musical 3, "Storm Warning" by Hunter Hayes (Félix's part), "Gimme That Girl" by Joe Nichols (Agustín's part), and "Gold" by Britt Nicole (Mirabel's part for Bruno)
Please R&R!
Until next time, Icy is out!
