"Burn away the flags. Begin again."
- Ulysses
Hello again, readers! Yes, Brave New World will be continuing, I have no intentions in putting it on hiatus or stopping it entirely, rest assured. Rather, I have been busy the last week or so, putting together an actual outline, fleshing out ideas and original characters, as well as researching the Fallout universe to find canon details, locations, and characters that I can incorporate into Brave New World.
However, I will be going through the current chapters that have been published already first and foremost, to make some additional changes as well as add new details, which may mean that some chapters will be considerably altered or see a significant increase in word count. Certain characters will be altered somewhat to fit the story better or provide more of a richer reading. One of the biggest changes being made will be the re-imagining of the Lone Wanderer into a female incarnation instead; furthermore, she's been expanded on considerably as well, to create a much more realistic yet rugged version of the Lone Wanderer, along with what I hope is a rather unique background for her. Quite a bit of work has been put into expanding and polishing up our version of Courier Six as well, and I think many of you will come to enjoy seeing the Courier in action once he enters the picture... whenever as an ally or a rival of the Sole Survivor, well, I'll leave that for you all to find out in due time!
Plus, we will be releasing a fair number of one-shots as companion pieces to Brave New World, focusing exclusively on the three central characters: Nathaniel Howard, the Sole Survivor of Fallout 4, Ainsley Rovere, the Lone Wanderer of Fallout 3, and Ryder Driscoll, the Courier of Fallout New Vegas. These stories won't really take place during the events of Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas, but they will take place either before, alongside, and after their respective games to reflect on the natures of these three characters and the trials they have gone through. Extensive discussions have gone into shaping these three individuals until they've been developed into such contrasting characters, and we suspect that you'll certainly come to enjoy reading as they grow and change! Keep an eye out for these one-shots in the future!
As the world-building aspects of Brave New World was always one of the top priorities for me, considerable time has been spent into developing both original characters and 'states' to reflect the post-apocalyptic American wastelands, incorporating as much of history's many inspirations and some creative liberties as possible. As Nate and the Commonwealth Army that he leads make their way across the debris and ashes of the old world, they'll come to confront foes both old and new alike, along with a much larger cast of colorful characters and canon favorites, as well as obstacles that will blur the lines between victory and defeat, progress and tradition, science and religion, as well as all the savage aspects of human nature. Once we've finished updating our chapters, they'll be re-published and we'll continue Nate's journey as he seeks to find an answer to the most difficult of questions:
What can change the nature of man?
For additional updates, changes, and news regarding Brave New World as well as one-shots or Thin Red Line, the easiest way is to check the Twitter page I've set up for my Fallout stories. You can find it on Twitter, just search up KratistosDF! Also, I am also developing a Discord server where all sorts of Fallout stuff, especially my fan fictions, can be discussed!
Additionally, I am always on the lookout for people to help me with Brave New World. Part of what I'd need done is simply proofreading, to make sure that all errors are pointed out and fixed, critique my works so that the story makes sense, is realistic (by Fallout standards) and has good flow, and of course, that all details are in order so nothing is out of place. In addition to the proofreading, you'll be helping out by joining our brainstorming sessions, where we bounce ideas around, flesh them out, and fine tune the details in order to add them to the overall story, things like that.
My only (flexible) requirements is that you have:
1. Discord, as it's where all the discussions happen!
2. A solid grasp on English.
3. More than a perfunctory knowledge of Fallout. (Not strictly necessary)
Mind you, even if you don't know everything there is to Fallout, that's more than fine! That's why we have a wiki to consult, after all! If you're interested, send me a Private Message!
