Kuro wondered what Rias and Sona would do about the humans that were ending up in comas all around the city. Kuro hoped that whatever the cause was, it would be dealt with quickly in case it affected her family.
The first thing in the morning that she would do was meet up with Rias and see what they could do. Walking into her house, she had bearly made it past the door before her brother was shouting at her in panic.
"You went on a date with the pretty boy!" Issei screamed at Kuro.
Kuro let out a sigh, and her eye was twitching at her brother's shout.
"Issei, I think im allowed to date whoever I want aren't I?" Kuro asked in a scarcely calm voice that promised retribution if he answered wrongly.
"Oh, my precious little daughter has had her first date," Mom shouted before wrapping Kuro up in a hug and pulling her off the ground.
"Mom!" Kuro shouted, trying to get out of the hug.
"It was just one date. It's not a big deal," Kuro said after finally getting free and landing back on the ground and backing up a little.
"Of course, it's a big deal our hopes of grandchildren lie with you," Mom said with a wide smile.
Kuro blushed bright red at that statement she hadn't thought about having children.
"Issei could have kids," Kuro said, trying to shift attention away from her. This was a situation that she had never been in before. It was usually her that made people blush in embarrassment.
She knew that she couldn't ever let Akeno know about this, or she wouldn't hear the end of it ever again.
"So tell me about the boy you went on a date with," Mom said, ignoring what Kuro said, making Issei fall into depression.
"Mom, im going to be the harem king, so you will have lots of grandchildren," Issei shouted, jumping out of his depression.
"So the boy?" Mom asked, ignoring Issei's all too common shout about being a Harem king.
"His name is Kiba he has short blond hair with blue eyes and is quite handsome. We are in the same club at school," Kuro explained to her mom, knowing she wouldn't rest till she knew.
"So when will you be bringing him to visit the house?" Mom asked.
"Err, im not sure after a few more dates, I guess," Kuro said, not committing to a timeframe.
"So, where did you both go on your date,"
"Well, first we went to a cafe to get some ice cream and then we went to the museum to look at a new exhibit before we went for a nice walking in the park," Kuro said, happy with how the date had gone.
"Sound nice for a first date," Mom said with a smile, happy for her daughter.
Thankfully Dad didn't make a big fuss about his daughter's first date when he got back from work. Other than promising that he would have to have a talk with Kiba when they finally met.
Issei spent the rest of the night sulking that Kuro had gone on a date with Kiba and that his parents had no problem with her dating a pretty boy.
Kuro looked over at Issei as they walked to school. He was still sulking about her date yesterday. Kuro wasn't sure why he was so bothered about it, after all it was only one date if he ever went on a date, she wouldn't be anywhere near as affected even if she didn't like the girl.
But she doubted she would need to worry about that for a long time.
On another note, given that her brother had found out that she had been on a date with Kiba, she was sure that the entire school must know about it by now, given it had all night to spread.
The boys she wasn't worried about they would no doubt see it as a blessing that someone had been on a date with Kiba. The girls, however, Kuro doubted they would be too happy, given how many of them had asked Kiba out and been turned down.
Now it wasn't a massive problem when every other girl had been turned down by Kiba, but given she wasn't turned down, she had no doubt made a lot of enemies in a single night.
Not that she mined if they tried anything, she would teach them a good lesson and if they went too far, Kuro would ruin their lives, Kuro thought to herself, letting out a creepy giggle.
"Err, Kuro, you're scaring me," Issei said, looking uncomfortable.
"I don't know what you mean, Issei," Kuro said as she stopped giggling.
"Well, I shall see you later, brother," Kuro said as they got to school, and she quickly tried to make a beeline to her class to avoid all the girls after gossip.
Ignoring the people that called out to her, Kuro made it to her class in record time.
"You okay, Kuro, your not normally in such a rush to get to class?" Momo Hanakai asked as she closed the door behind her.
"Im avoid the other girls Kuro said, looking around the classroom,"
"Ah, this is about your date with Kiba yesterday. I expected you to have been killed by the envious girls by now," Reya Kusaka said.
"I may be a magician, but I can still fight even in hand. Hand what sort of stupid magician doesn't learn hand-to-hand combat," Kuro said, snorting and walking to her table.
"Me and Momo don't know any hand-to-hand combat," Reya Kusaka said, making Kuro stumble in shock.
"What... how can you not know hand-to-hand combat? What if you run out of magic or if they are super close to you and you don't have the time to cast a spell," Kuro asked as she tried to work out what the two bishops and their king were thinking.
It was something that she didn't expect for Sona to overlook, though thinking back on it, she hadn't seen Akeno using anything other than magic either, and she had a Queen piece.
She would make a note to check if she knew any hand-to-hand, and if not, she would make her learn it one way or another.
"We have the rest of the group to cover for us like that, or we can just fly away," Momo said shyly.
Kuro could help the look of disbelief that was on her face at what Momo had just said. She doubted that in rating games, you would always be with the rest of the peerage, or you could fly away.
In fact, if it was her in charge of a rating game, she would go after what are normally soft targets like Bishops as if they have no ability to fight other than magic. Something like a knight would be the perfect way to deal with them.
Kuro made a note to add assassination styles to her spars with Kiba so he could use them to deal with foes during rating games, but she doubted that he would use them. He was big on chivalry, after all.
"Well, you have plenty of time to learn the basics, and it would be a good idea for you to do so," Kuro said. While they may be competition in the future, they were still friends at the end of the day.
And there was always the risk of them coming across a strong stray or a fallen or stray priest and having to fight to the death. Kuro would feel bad if she learned they died, and her telling them to learn unarmed combat could have saved their life.
"Err, I guess," Momo said, looking confused but still thinking about it.
Before anyone else could say anything, the classroom door opened up and a group of human students entered the room, stopping any conversation about the supernatural world the magician and devils could have.
"Kuro, you went on a date with Kiba," one of the girls shouted, running towards her desk.
"We are in the same club. We just went to a cafe together after the club," Kuro said, trying to get them to drop it.
What right did they even have to harass her about her own relationships?
"I heard it was a date?" Sakura asked, looking unsure.
"Didn't you go to the same cafe with Aiko the other day?" Kuro asked, gesturing to the girl next to Sakura.
"Ya so?"
"I didn't know you two were sating that all?" Kuro said with a knowing smile.
Both girls turned bright red from what Kuro had said and backed up while shaking their heads in denial.
"No, no, we are just friends," Aiko stuttered.
"Oh, I see when I go to a cafe with a friend, it's a date but when you go with a friend it's just with a friend... I got you," Kuro said, giving an exaggerated wink to the two girls who turned even redder.
"You must be embarrassed about being caught on your date. That's why you're trying to turn it around on Aiko and Sakura," the first girl said, whose name Kuro had forgotten.
"I said it wasn't a date; not sure why I would be embarrassed if it was almost all the girls in school want to date Kiba," Kuro said, bored of the three girls.
Before the three girls could reply back, the three girls in Sona peerage stood up. "Why are you bullying Kuro over hanging out with her friend?" Reya asked, with Momo and Tomoe looking at them as well.
"We aren't," Sakura asked, panicked.
"Ya, we just wanted to know if they were dating," Aiko said a moment later.
"Kuro already answered that, and even if they were, what does it have to do with you three? You aren't Kuro's friends; this is the first time you have even talked to her," Reya pressed the three girls.
The three girls seeing that other people in the class were giving them slightly dirty looks, quickly decided to retreat and fast-walked to their desk shooting Kuro a dirty look.
Kuro just ignored them and guessed that one or maybe even all three of them had a crush on Kiba and was angry that Kuro had gotten a date with him.
No doubt, her being the smallest in the class gave them the confidence to try and humiliate her. The rest of the morning classes were full of people giving Kuro curious looks, but thankfully none of them had asked her about her date with Kiba.
Hearing the lunch bell, Kuro got out of her seat and made her way quickly to the Occult Club. Not only did she not want to spend time in her homeroom, where people would no doubt badger her, but she also wished to avoid her brother.
He would no doubt try and follow her around today and try and keep her away from Kiba. Well, that was unless he was distracted by girls getting changed.
Getting to the clubroom, Kuro stepped inside to see that Rias and Akeno were already there, and Akeno was serving Rias some tea.
"Ah, you are here early today, Kuro," Akeno said with a mischievous smile.
"Did Kiba tell you about what we heard yesterday?" Kuro asked, already planning on how to get Akeno back in her head.
"Yes, he did, and I have done some very basic checks into the situation. I will explain when the rest of our group arrives," Rias said.
"Do the rest of you do any training? I know me and Kiba spar together, but I haven't seen anyone else do so?" Kuro asked.
"We don't do much training at the moment as I am too young to take part in any rating games, but in the next year or so, we will start to do more training for rating games," Rias said.
"what about it then, Akeno? Would you like to do some training together at some point," Kuro asked with a provoking look.
"Ah, im not sure you would be able to keep up fufufu," Akeno teased.
"Im sure I will be okay," Kuro said back simply.
Before they could continue to tease each other, the door to the club room opened up, and Koneko and Kiba entered the room and took a seat on a couch, and Koneko pulled out a bar of chocolate.
"Right, so we are dealing with the spree of people that have all fallen into comas, Akeno?" Rias said, letting Akeno give the report.
"Right, president. The first strange coma that we have been able to find was two weeks ago.
This is where the majority of the victims come from, with 15 people in comas who are showing no sign of recovery. These 15 were all in a span of a week. After that, in the last week, only 5 more cases have been discovered." Akeno reported.
"From this, we are able to tell that it is most likely a supernatural creature that is responsible for all the people in comas, but Sona nor I don't believe it is the doing of a stray devil." Rias finished.
"What else could it be?" Kuro asked.
"We don't know it isn't the work of the fallen, and church wouldn't do anything like this," Rias said.
Kuro noticed the flash of hate that appeared on Kiba's face at the mention of the church and saw his hands curl into fists. Kuro could see that Kiba's hatred for the church was far beyond being just a devil and guessed it was something to do with his past.
"So we have an unknown supernatural creature running around the town attacking people, great," Kuro said, summing up the situation.
"It's worse than that. We have an unknown supernatural creature that is well practised in hiding itself and its tracks. If it wasn't for you and Kiba overhearing people talking about it in the cafe, then it could have been weeks before we had noticed it." Rias said.
"So, what are we going to do?" Kiba asked.
"We will hunt it tonight and try to see if we can catch it in the act and then deal with it. So far, it seems to attack every 2 or so days. If it still sticks to that, then it should attack someone tonight." Rias said, looking at her peerage.
"What are we going to do with it?" Kuro asked.
"It depends. If it is like a Stray and can't be reasoned with, then we will have to kill it. Otherwise, we can try and talk it out to come to a compromise," Rias said after a moment.
"Okay," Kuro said as she started to plan what card she would use tonight.
Both of her one-star cards were pretty much useless, and her assassin class card was Mata Hari, who lost the core skill of the class, which was presence concealment which even at D rank can hide from most servents.
But Mata didn't have that class skill, and her other skills were very weak. The Caster card wasn't even worth mentioning. Other than having large mana, it was useless. In the end, Kuro knew she would use her go-to class card.
Her brother Emiya and the sharp eyesight of the class would come in handy when out hunting.
"Any chance we can skip the rest of the school day," Kuro asked hopefully.
"Im afraid not," Rias said, smiling.
Akeno giggled as Rias shot Kuro's hope down.
"Your a devil, senpai", Kuro groaned as she collapsed on the sofa.
Rias, Kiba and Akeno burst into giggles, and Kuro saw Koneko with a small smile on her face.
"It's not that bad," Kiba said kindly.
"That because the girls don't dare to hound you. Im sure the girls in my class are planning on kidnapping and torturing me for details," Kuro moaned.
Akneo burst into giggles again, smiling sadistically at Kuro.
"Well, it just us or will Sona and her peerage be joining us?" Kuro asked.
"Just my peerage and you. There are only a few victims, so it won't require both me and Sona and our peerages to deal with.
Not to mention the town is split between the both of us. Sona and her peerage are responsible for the town's safety during the day, and me and my peerage are responsible at night." Rias explained.
"Okay," Kuro said, agreeing that maybe having nine devils and herself to deal with whatever is attacking people was overkill. Kuro was sure that she could kill it on her own, so she wasn't too worried about them going without backup.
Kuro also guessed that since Rias was in charge of the town at night, it would hurt her pride to ask Sona for help unless she really needed it.
"Right, everyone is to meet back her after school and then we will spend the rest of the night patrolling the town," Rias said, dismissing everyone.
Kuro let out a sigh with the day finally ending. She had been irritable ever since lunch. She wanted to get on with the hunt for this creature or person.
Kuro could swear that something felt familiar about the case, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was exactly. Hopefully, tonight would help her find out what she was missing.
Kuro left the classroom as quickly as she could and made her way through the school, ignoring everyone that called out to her. Kuro pulled out her phone and texted her parents that she was staying late at her club and sleeping over at her friend's house, so she didn't have to walk home at night.
With her alibi taken care of, she put her phone away. She entered the Occult Club to see Rias and Akeno sitting on one of the couches with a town map in front of them.
"Are all the attacks in a set area?" Kuro asked, seeing them looking over the map.
"No, all the attacks are in remote areas, but they are spread out somewhat. After looking over the map, I have picked locations for everyone that seem the best place for an attack," Rias said, looking over the map one last time.
"How far away are we from each other? As im not a member of your peerage, I can't use your teleportation circle, and my own version of teleportation doesn't allow long range," Kuro asked.
"It depends on how fast you can run and for how long," Rias said.
"If you can run as fast as Kiba, then the longest time it should take to get to the furthest person is nine, maybe ten minutes," Rias said after a pause.
Kuro knew that she could run far faster than Kiba could, and that was without reinforcement and mana burst, making Kuro feel much better about getting to her friends should they need backup.
Kuro pulled out Magical Ruby and her Emiya class card. "What are both of them?" Akeno asked, looking at them confused.
"Did Kiba not tell you about my magic? I gave him a basic overview yesterday," Kuro asked.
"No, but he probably didn't think it was important," Rias said.
"My magic is broken into two parts. This is Magical Ruby," Kuro said as her Kaleidostick floated into the air and turned into a magical girl stick.
"Hello, oh, is this your new girlfriend? Do you want one of my love potions for her," Magical Ruby said, flying over to Akeno and floating around her as if trying to get a good look at her.
"It's talking," Rias said, looking shocked at the floating stick.
"Fufufufu, you have love potions, Kuro."
"Yes, it has its own personality and not sure I have never used any of its so-called love potions," Kuro said, rolling her eyes.
"Anyway, Magical Ruby is a powerful magical tool once you get past the whole magical girl part," Kuro said with a sigh.
"You best not let Sona's sister learn about her then, or she will never leave you alone she is a self-proclaimed magical girl, so if she found a real one, I can't imagine what she would do," Rias said with a shudder.
"The other part is these class cards which are much more complex, but they fall into different classes such as Archer or Saber. Each one has powerful weapons sealed inside that Magical Ruby can transform into, or you can install and gain powerful abilities.
In truth, I don't 100% per cent know how the cards work as I didn't make them, but they can no doubt be found all over the world knowing the maker," Kuro explained.
"Can other people use them?" Rias asked, looking a little worried.
"Not without Magical Ruby. Well, there is the chance that a very powerful magician could maybe get one of the cards to work or a genius like Ajuka Beelzebub could but im sure that amount of people like that can be counted on both your hands," Kuro said.
She left out that if the soul inside the class card resonated with the person that had the card, then there was a good chance that they could use include and summon the Noble Phantasm of the class card, and if they were truly in sync, then they would even be able to use install.
But Kuro was sure that number would be even lower, so it wasn't even worth mentioning.
Kuro reached out and grabbed Magical Ruby before placing the Emiya card on top of Ruby "Install."
A magical circle appeared below Kuro and converted her body into the body of Emiya replacing her school uniform with the clothing of Emiya.
"It changed your clothing?" Akeno asked, looking Kuro up and down and licking her lips.
"Yep," Kuro said without going into any detail.
Thankfully Kiba and Koneko entered the club room, distracting them from more questions about her magic.
"Right now that everyone is here, we can begin," Rias said, standing up.
"Kiba, you will be taking this area, Koneko this one and Kuro will be taking this area. Make sure you memorise where everyone else is in case they need back up," Rias said, showing them the map and pointing to where each of them was going to be.
"So if we find something, do we try contacting it or just call for backup straight away?" Kiba asked.
"Call for backup, and then we will confront whatever is doing this just in case they are violet or have a strange sacred gear," Rias said, looking at us one more time.
"Okay, if we don't find anything after five hours, then we will regroup," Akeno said as Rias rolled up the map and put it back on some shelving.
Walking outside, Kuro used reinforcement on her body before jumping away quickly, landing on high building and darting across the top of the buildings.
"Hey, Ruby, why don't most people notice me?"
"The work of magical girls is never done in the open, so there is a type of moble bounded field on you that makes people just not take notice of you.
But it's not very strong. Almost any supernatural being would be able to see through it, and if you start fighting, then normal humans would notice as well," Magical Ruby warned.
Kuro made a note of that, but the ability not to be noticed was indeed a good one even if it only applied to humans, given that when she installed a class card or merged with Magica Ruby, she looked very odd.
"The magical girl form has a stealth mode that would look exactly like your school uniform," Magical Ruby said, causing Kuro to stumble and nearly fall.
"You mean to tell me I don't have to look like a Magical Girl, but you made me anyway!" Kuro whisper shouted at Magical Ruby.
"No, it's the stealth mode. When you fight, of course, you need to transform into a proper magical girl," Magical Ruby said as if she was teaching a pre-schooler.
Kuro took a deep breath before looking at Magical Ruby with her eye twitching being it as a lost cause. Kuro jumped away and continued onto her area to watch over and search tonight while promising herself to be in the 'stealth' magical girl mode whenever she was at school.
After all, that mode made her comparable to a servent only without taking on their form, and she would still have access to her own skills and magic.
And while her own Projection Magecraft isn't on the same level as Emiya's due to not having her origin as Swords or having the Reality Marble Unlimited Blade Works, she could still project copies of Kanshou and Bakuya.
And on the off chance she needed more than that, then Magical Ruby could be used to fire magical bolts and condense her mana into a blade that was strong enough to clash with Excalibur.
And she could still use all the other magic that she had learned from Rin or that Illya had learned things that she couldn't do with most of her class cards installed as she gained their strengths and their weakness.
The Emiya card that was currently installed was a good example of that. Even though Emiya had a decent amount of mana, he could even cast a basic spell like Gandr, a very simple spell that almost any magus could use.
Let alone things like Jewel Magecraft or the Emiya family magic to control time. Both of these she could do without a class card installed, so if she could be a magical girl constantly without people being able to tell, she would feel far more relieved that she could protect her brother or parents at a moment's notice.
She felt quite a bit angry at Magical Ruby for not mentioning such a feature before, as her biggest worry wasn't about her but her family, who were nothing more than humans, who were far too weak. Killing a human was easy for other humans, let alone supernatural beings.
She stood atop the tallest building in the area and looked out at the sprawling city below. Not far away, she could see the face of the clock town at the Plaza.
Her sharp eyesight caught all of the movement below as people moved to and from work, some heading home after a long day. Other being students of her school out with friends before the night came and the monsters with it.
For a moment, she could kind of understand why Illya wished to be normal, given how happy and carefree the girls down on the ground looked, but she was happy with her life with her family and the devils that she was contracted to.
Kuro jumped from building to building while keeping her eyes open for anything that seemed out of place or someone trying to lure someone else to a secluded area.
But she hadn't found anything of a supernatural nature at all. At worst, she had seen young adults that slipped off to kiss in hidden alleyways, and they were so bad at kissing that she had to stop herself from jumping down and showing them how to kiss.
The sun had soon set, with most of the town going to sleep and the nightlife coming out, but still, there was no sign of the thing they were hunting.
Kuro was snapped out of her focused search by her phone ringing.
"Ya?" Kuro asked.
"Get to Koneko now she found the creature and is being attacked," Rias said quickly with a trace of panic in her voice.
She ended the call and twisted on the spot to face where Koneko was and used Mana Burst to move from building to building so fast that she had all but become a blur, and the ground under her feet exploded into rubble with every step that she took.
The next few minutes flew by for her as she spared no effort to get to Koneko as fast as possible. It was easy to find both Koneko and whoever she was fighting.
Kuro was glad that whoever Koneko was fighting had slightly less mana than Akeno, meaning once anyone else of the peerage, the tides would turn in their favour.
Kuro rushed toward the two sources of magic that were fighting. Jumping onto the last building, she saw that Koneko was badly injured. The top left of her uniform was burned away with a nasty burn over her chest and shoulder.
Her skirt was ripped, revealing her upper legs and even hints of her panties and what was left of her shirt had a large patch of blood on it that was slowly getting bigger.
Behind Koneko was a woman that was out cold, no doubt the victim of the creature Koneko was fighting. Without a moment's pause, Kuro used her strongest Mana burst yet using 3% of her total magic to flash behind the shadow that was fighting Kuro and brought her blades down to cleave off its head.
As her blades made contact, the shadow turned into whispers and vanished before reappearing in a shadow not far away. Kuro, unwilling to let it get away with hurting her friends, teleported right next to it only a few seconds later.
The shadow noticed and vanished again as Kuro's blades sliced through the air just where she had been. Twisting and looking around, she wasn't able to see the shadow anywhere.
Kuro quickly teleported next to Koneko, knowing that she was the most injured and that would make her the easiest target.
"Ah, my my, another person to ruin my meal, but at least you are human this time," a cold voice said from the shadows.
"You okay, Koneko?" Kuro asked as she kept her eyes sharp trying to peer into the shadows around them.
"Ya, thanks," Koneko said quietly with some traces of pain but still wasn't letting down her guard.
A crimson red light exploded next to them, and Rias, Akeno and Kiba appeared a moment later.
"We are here..." Rias started to say before seeing the state of Koneko.
A dark and scary aura erupted out of Rias at the sight of Koneko. Akeno also had a scary look that promised pain, and she was sure it wouldn't be a good kind of pain.
Kuro wasn't sure if Rias or Akeno would be able to win a fight against this person on their own and would most likely struggle even together. Kuro could tell that this person had real fighting experience.
"Rias, Akeno, calm down and don't let your anger control your actions," Kuro snapped, seeing them getting so angry that it was affecting their magic.
"Look what that scum did to Koneko," Akeno bit with hate overflowing in her voice.
Before Kuro could shout at Akeno for letting her emotions cloud her judgment, two more fire spells flew at them from the left.
"Ruby Prisma shield," Kuro ordered as she kept her eyes open for the shadowy figure.
A large multi-faceted and multi-coloured barrier formed in front of the group blocking the two fire spells that exploded into large rock melting hot fire that liquefied the ground below the barrier.
Kuro looked around and was still unable to see or sense the person. Thankfully the last fire spell had woken them up to how dangerous the other party was.
"Kiba, keep watch over Koneko," Rias ordered as magic power gathered into her hand and lightning crackled around Akeno's arms.
Kuro projected another copy of her twin blades and crouched down, ready to launch herself at the target the moment she could.
From the shadows, ten bolts of lighting streamed towards the three of them. Kuro shot off into the shadows like a bullet sping and twisting around the lighting that was sent towards her.
After she landed in the shadows, the figure tried to escape again, but Kuro had locked onto to her this time, and her eyes followed every moment the figure made even once it had cloaked itself in the densest of shadows.
Kuro jumped after the shadow, bringing her twin blades down over and over as they played cat and mouse, with the shadow constantly on the run.
Kuro saw Rias and Akeno throwing spells into random shadows hoping to get lucky and hit something. Eventually, Kuro managed to catch up with the shadow that had started to get more sluggish the longer they tried to run.
Kuro launched a brutal kick at the shadow sending it flying out and into the view of everyone. Rias and Akeno didn't hesitate for a second and launched magical attacks on the shadowy figure.
Orbs of destruction shot at the figure, and bolts of lightning erupted from Akeno and roared at the figure as well. The figure created a barrier out of magic without a single word.
When Rias' magic hit the barrier, small holes appeared where the orbs hit, but Akeno's lightning just struck and fizzled out.
Kuro jumped next to Kiba, keeping a guard on Koneko, who was still badly injured, as Rias needed to heal Koneko personally, or it would take a long time to heal unless they went to the Sitri hospital in the underworld.
Kuro heard the figure tut at the situation and was able to tell that it was at least a female they were fighting.
The woman brought her hand back before throwing some teeth into the ground, and a moment later, nine skeletons rose from where the teeth had been planted. Kuro recognised them and the method to create them as Dragon Tooth Warriors.
Four of them were armed with giant swords. Three more were carrying bows, and the last had daggers in his hands.
Looking back at the woman, she had wrapped herself in shadows again and faded away. Kuro was sure that she must be a class card that had manifested itself.
It would make sense why she felt the coma reminded her of something the servent was using a mana draining skill and draining them dry of mana and maybe even life force. If Kuro had to guess, then it was no doubt a caster card, and it would explain why she ran and used hit and run attacks.
She has spent weeks building up her mana, so she wouldn't want to waste it all on this one fight, and the dragon tooth warriors were cheap and easy to make with a very low mana cost.
"Kiba and Kuro deal with the ones with swords. Akeno and I will deal with the rest," Rias ordered.
Kiba and Kuro rushed into the centre of the four dragon tooth warriors and split them into groups of two. Kuro used her twin blades to hack up the first dragon tooth warrior with ease and moved onto the second one and turned it into bone scraps as well.
Kuro looked at Kiba to see that he had dealt with the first of his dragon tooth warriors and was progressing on the second one. In truth, they were nothing more than a distraction to allow caster to get away, and they had non-chance of causing any real damage to them.
There was a chance that if they had one of them on their own that they may be able to cause trouble for one of them, but even then, it probably wouldn't be enough to beat a low-class devil.
Looking over at Rias and Akeno, both of them had finished up with their dragon tooth warriors. Given they had no magic resistance, they were really nothing more than sitting ducks for them, and that was even more so for the ones with swords, given that all devils could fly.
Something that Kuro was jealous of, given how hard it was for her to learn how to fly with Magical Ruby.
"Has the person left?" Rias asked Kuro, having seen that Kuro could see through the shadows she had hidden with.
"Ya, she left long before we had dealt with the skeletons," Kuro said.
With that being confirmed, Rias ran over to Koneko with the rest of the peerage a second behind her.
"Koneko," Rias said, seeing Koneko's wounds as Rias carefully looked over her wounds.
"We need to get back to the club," Akeno said softly to Rias as she looked at Koneko sadly.
"Kuro, we will see you back at the Occult club," Rias said before casting a teleportation circle and vanishing with Kiba and Akeno.
Kuro felt a little annoyed that Rias had taken both Akeno and Kiba with her when they didn't know for a fact that caster had 100% gone and that there was still a human left on the ground.
Kuro sighed and walked over to the unconscious woman to check if her theory was correct. After checking over the woman, Kuro could tell that she had indeed had her mana drained, but her life force was fine, and Kuro was sure that was due to Koneko.
Picking up the woman, Kuro quickly ran, brought the city and placed her down outside the hospital, and then ran back to the occult club. As she got close, she could sense that Sona was already in the club along with another devil that, from the aura, Kuro guessed was her queen.
Kuro uninstalled her Emiya card as it wouldn't help her in any way as Unlimited Blade Works only contained swords, spears, and halberds primarily with some shields and defensive armaments, none of them geared towards healing, though.
If it was capable of holding staffs as well, then she could have a copy of Pain Breaker, but alas, it didn't. However, with the card uninstalled, she would be able to use some of the basic healing magic that Irisviel von Einzbern taught her daughter before Illya decided she wanted to live a normal life.
"Ruby can you use the magical girl stealth mode, please," Kuro asked.
She planned to just have that active constantly as it would make her basically a servant 24/7.
"Hai Hai," Ruby said, not playing around for once, and Kuro was covered in a magical aura that turned into a Koha uniform.
Entering the Occult room, she wasn't surprised to see everyone in there with Sona, and a young woman with long black hair that went all the way down to her knees wearing glasses and heterochromatic eyes, with a violet left eye and a light brown right eye.
"What took you so long to get back," Rias asked without taking her eyes off Koneko.
"That woman that was attacked was still there, so I had to make sure she was okay, and then I brought her to the hospital before coming right here."
"Well, it's not as bad as it looks, but it will still take a good week of healing from you personally to heal if we went back to the underworld and went to the hospital," Sona suggested.
"May I have a look," Kuro said, walking over to Koneko.
"Going to the underworld would cause lots of problems for us. How do you think my brother and sister will react to hearing about an enemy that did this," Rias said cautiously. Sona looked away with nothing to say.
Kuro leaned down and connected to her magical circuits before holding her hands just above Konekos arm. "Chiyu Majutsu," Kuro chanted as a blue mist wrapped around Koneko's arm, and she let out a sigh of relief.
"You can do healing magic?" Sona asked.
"Im not amazing at it, but I can use basic healing spells," Kuro said as the burn slowly started to heal.
"It seems it will still take a few days to heal even with your magic, but with both you and Rias healing her, it may only take two days to recover.
So Kuro and Koneko will have the next two days excused for lessons while Kuro heals Koneko during the day. Next, we need to move on to this woman." Sona said.
"I think as long as we attack her as a group, we will be able to deal with her other than her fire spells, she didn't seem to be that strong," Rias said.
"You're wrong. She has been draining mana from people, meaning she has a finite amount. She no doubt didn't want to waste it in a fight when she could avoid it," Kuro warned.
"Hmm, strange, she would need to drain other people of magic. It should just replenish on its own," Sona said, thinking aloud.
Kuro wasn't going to tell Sona about Magecraft and class cards if she could get away with it, and it was only due to her not having a real body she needed to drain magic.
"I can do it as well, but as you pointed out, magic replenished over time, but the real problem is the fact that all devils had far more magic than humans.
There is a good chance that we could be the next targets," Kuro said.
