They repelled down into the crevice and looked around.

"Do you realize, we're standing inside a room that no one has entered in more than four

thousand years?"

"What is that God-awful stench?" Jonathan asked then looked up at the warden who was climbing down. "Oh." Evelyn walked up to another mirror and aimed it toward the light that was coming down.

"Let there be light." She said as the light bounced off more mirrors

"That is a neat trick."

"Oh my god, it's a Saanich." Evelyn said, looking around."A preparation room."

"Preparation for what?" O'Connell asked.

"For entering the afterlife," Sam said in a spooky voice, and O'Connell drew his gun.

"Mummies, my good son, this is where they prepare the mummies," Jonathan explained, and they made their way through the many halls and corridors in the tomb. They reached the room with the base of Anubis and they heard a strange murmuring noise. Sam and O'Connell pulled out their guns and whipped around the corner of the statue only to find the Americans there with their guns drawn as well.

"You scared the bejeezus out of us O'Connell!" Henderson exclaimed.

"Likewise." He replied, and everyone relaxed.

"This here's our statue friend." One of Henderson's partners stated bravely.

"I don't see you're name on it," O'Connell replied, and guns went back up.

"There are only four of you and fifteen of me O'Connell, your odds are not so good."

"I've had worse." Sam and O'Connell said at the same time.

"Yeah, me too." The two cast a sideways glance at Jonathan.

"Oh for heaven's sake, if we're going to play together, we must learn to share," Evelyn said, suddenly coming up between them and lowering O'Connell's arm. "There are other places to dig."

Sam was pounding at the ceiling with a sledgehammer while, the others were picking at it.

"According to my calculations, we're right under the statue. We'll come up right between his legs." Evelyn explained.

"And when those damn Yanks go to sleep," Jonathan added, then looked at O'Connell. "No offense."

"None taken."

"We'll sneak up and steal it right out from under their noses."

"And you're sure you can find this secret compartment?" Sam asked.

"Oh yes, as long as those beastly Americans haven't beaten us to it. No offense." Evelyn said.

"None taken," O'Connell repeated.

"I say, where'd our smelly friend get off to?" Jonathan asked, looking around. After a few more minutes they took a break, and Evelyn was explaining mummification to O'Connell.

"So let me get this straight they pulled out all your insides and stuck them in jars?"

"Yes, and do you know how they took out your brains?"

"Evie I don't think we need to hear this," Jonathan called, practicing his golf swing.

"They took a sharp, red hot, poker and shoved it up your nose, scrambled things about, and ripped it all out through your nostrils."

"Ow, that's got to hurt."

"It's called mummification you'd be dead when they do this."

"Still that'd bring me back to life," Sam commented. Evelyn went to comment when a huge chunk of the ceiling gave out and a large object fell. Once the dust cleared they saw what it was.

"Oh my god, it's a sarcophagus." Evelyn pointed out. "Buried at the base of Anubis. He was either someone of great importance. Or he did something very naughty." They dusted off the top.

"Well, who is it?" Jonathan asked.

"He who shall not be named." Evelyn read.

"There's some sort of lock on this thing," O'Connell said, looking down at a slot on the lid, then looked at Sam. "You said these things are made out of granite with a steel interior."

"Quarried granite with a cobalt lining." Sam clarified, nodding.

"Whoever's in here he certainly wasn't getting out," Jonathan said.

"No kidding. Without a key, it would take us a month to crack this thing." O'Connell agreed.

"A key? A key! a key! That's what he was talking about."

"Who was talking about what?" O'Connell asked, but Sam shook her head just as confused.

"The man, the man on the barge with a hook. He was looking for a key." Evelyn said digging through Jonathan's pack and pulling out the puzzle box.

"Hey, that's mine." Their brother protested. Evelyn just smiled and opened up the box, then slipped it in the slot. Suddenly screaming sounded down the corridor, and they all rushed forward, only to see the Warden barreling around slapping his head until he smashed into a wall.
