Hey, sorry that it took so long to post. I've had this chapter written forever but I always got postponed with personal issues. Again, sorry. (I don't own PJO)
I Get A Quest Even Though I'm A New Camper
Camp was interesting. We played capture the flag and I sat out again. Then I got to know Quintus. He had a pet hellhound too!
Emmie got to play with Mrs. O'Leary a bit. They had fun.
The summer went by really quickly. I trained more, and got to spend time with a few campers who came to talk.
The end of the summer, Chiron had decided that I should go on a quest to see about the labyrinth.
So that's where I was at the moments going into the creepy crawly attack full of dead stuff and artifacts of the past.
I approached the Oracle and she sat up.
"Approach, seeker and ask." She rasped.
"What do I need to do about the labyrinth?" I asked.
Green fog came out her mouth and a voice echoed in my head.
"You shall fall into an endless maze.
The traitor and the lost one raise.
Rise by the ghost king's hand.
A child of Athena's final stand.
Destroy with a hero's last breath.
Enemies choose fate worse than death."
She stopped. I took in the prophecy. But the green fog wasn't gone. I looked around at her.
"Was there anything else?" I asked.
"Finally when the war is won.
It is time for the curse to be undone.
At home will be the child of death.
If she survives her very last breath."
She spouted a new prophecy. I memorized it and thanked her. The fog was gone now so I walked back down the stairs.
"What happened, child? You were in there for a while." Chiron asked.
"Hmm?" I pulled my attention back to him. "Oh yeah. I got sidetracked thinking about it. ADHD and all." I lied.
"Okay. What did the Oracle say?" He said impatiently. I recited it back.
"Of course. You can take whoever you want with you." He dismissed me.
I thought about it and took Grover, Tyson, and Katie.
The quest went into the labyrinth and we got lost a few times. We saved a hundred handed one but he ended up running off.
We got caught on a ranch and it turned out that Nico followed me into the maze. I had to kill Geryon. I knew I could do it because I had trained many times for it.
We followed a metal spider to Hephaestus. Grover and Tyson got sidetracked when we got close to where Pan could be felt.
Katie and I went on a side quest for Hephaestus. I accidentally blew up Mt. St. Helen. I wasn't the best at controlling my geokinesis.
So that's where I am right now. Being launched in the sky. I was about to spread my wings and take control of my flight but then I passed out from magical exhaustion.
When I woke up, I was on an island.
"Who are you?" There was a voice from the side.
I groaned and rolled to my side. Sitting up as I went. There was a girl about my age on the beach. She was wearing a white dress with her hair back in a braid.
"Seriously? This has to be a joke. Are the gods laughing in my face now?" She complained.
I scrambled to my feet, giving her a quick bow.
"Ma'am. I'm terribly sorry that I intruded on your beautiful island. I was just wondering where I am." I said politely.
"Oh." She blushed. "Sorry. You are in Ogygia." She told me.
"Ah. So that means you are Calypso." I smiled. "I met your father, you know. He was a bit of a jerk. He almost killed a friend of mine. Your sister actually." I brushed the sand off my jeans. "Now. If you'll please excuse me, I'm going to see if I can find a way off this island."
"There is no way other than the raft. The gods made sure of it." Calypso said sadly.
"Of course they did. Which of the gods made this prison?" I walked over towards her.
"Zeus, Hera, Aphrodite, and Posiedon." She answered.
I nodded and stopped in front of her. "I'm sorry that's incredibly rude of me. I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Andromeda Di Angelo. Daughter of Hades." I held out a hand and she shook it.
"Before you try to break off the island, would you like some food?" She offered.
"Sure. It's been a little while since I've eaten." I walked with her into the cave where she lived.
Immediately I was bombarded by the spirits. They were bowing to me and asking if I wanted anything. Calypso was confused as she couldn't see them, only feel them. I sent them back to the task they were doing before my arrival.
We ate what I'd guess is dinner together. We made small talk. She was curious about how the world had changed and I was curious about her side of her story. I had the spirits bring me some pencil and paper. I wrote down everything she said. She told me all about the other heroes and how she was cursed to fall in love with them.
I rolled my eyes at that part. Totally Aphrodite's doing.
Before long, the sun was going down. We took a walk in the garden and she showed me her different flowers.
"Calypso. I need to get going now. I'm not sure if my plans will work or not." I said finally.
She nodded. "I hope you get home." She picked up a flower and wrapped a cloth around it. "When you get home, plant a garden for me. That way, whenever you see it, you will think of me."
I accepted the flower. "Thank you, Calypso. I'll see if there is a way to come visit."
She smiled sadly. "No hero finds Ogygia twice."
"I'm no hero though. I'm a heroine." I waved and melted into the shadows.
The ride was harder than usual. I would say due to the distance but I had traveled across the world before and knew that feeling.
Soon though, I was walking out of the shadows of the woods, flower tucked in my pocket.
At the campfire it looked like they were burning a shroud. It was a shroud of a child of Hades. I could see Bianca and Nico there, crying, so I assumed they thought I died.
I walked out towards them and raised my voice.
"I guess I'm crashing my own funeral then, huh?"
Everyone whipped around and stared at me.
"It's alright. You can curse my name. Shout at me for disrupting this beautiful service." I joked.
Bianca marched up to me and punched me in the chest.
I winced. "Okay. Yup. I deserved that." She then hugged me and Nico ran over to hug me as well.
"Okay. Everyone, go back to your regular activities." Chiron ordered.
I led Bianca and Nico back to the cabin and told them all that happened. I put the flower in a pot and set it on the window sill. I put my pages of writing down on my desk and put them in a locked drawer.
The next day, I gathered my quest again and we went into the mortal world. I called Rachel and asked for her help.
She agreed and helped us find an entrance to the labyrinth.
I explained all about the Greek gods and goddess to her. She took it really well. I knew she could see the path so I trusted her.
We reached an arena and were forced to fight. I defeated a few monsters before they threw a demigod in to fight me.
I defeated him but let him live. I had no reason to kill him. That was just heartless.
Antaeus, son of Posiedon and Gaea, challenged me next to see who was the stronger child of the big three.
I had studied him during my training. I somehow got him hanging in the chains and defeated him.
Luke was there and he attacked us. I summoned some skeletons to hold them off.
We dragged Ethan with us. He told us his mother was Nemesis. I knew her! But I couldn't tell him that.
He went off on a separate path in the labyrinth and we continued on our way.
We found the workshop of the constructor of the maze, Daedelus. Turns out, Quintus was actually Daedelus. Who would've thought?
He had already given Luke Adriane's string but he gave us a way to escape. A few monsters showed up and I cut them down. Nico was with them but helped us as soon as we met up.
We took off on metal wings like the ones Daedelus and Icarus used to escape the first time.
We got out and Rachel got us a ride back to the labyrinth. I found a tunnel and came out on mount Tam.
Kronos was having Luke be his host. I barely escaped Kronos who used Ethan to rise. He controlled the time around me and would have caught me if Rachel hadn't thrown her hairbrush then. I dashed back to them and Nico before controlling the earth to block off the path.
We kept walking and found Grover's cap. We found him unconscious and Tyson on the path. We went on and found Pan's finally resting place.
Pan talked to us, he asked Grover to spread the word. He then turned to me and asked for release.
I gave him a sad smile and released his spirit. Part of his spirit went into each one of us. The most went to Grover.
The others asked about it but I just said it was a child of Hades thing.
Rachel told us that her father is really rich because he is a land developer and she blamed herself for causing Pan to pass.
I reassured her and we had to part ways.
I called Star and a few of her friends and they took us to camp.
We came back to see the camp preparing for an attack.
The attack came too quickly and we fought back. We were almost winning when Kampê came and attacked.
Grover was able to stop it by using Panic, a gift from Pan.
The army retreated and Daedalus came to me. He gave me a laptop and asked to be released.
"Are you sure? You will be facing the punishment of extending your life." I asked.
"I'm sure. It's time for my spirit to be released. Whether that is in the fields of punishment or not." He stood calmly in front of me.
"Okay. I'm sorry for all the pain you've had. You are released from this body and from your life. Descend peacefully into the afterlife." I put my hand on his chest and he flashed black.
Later that day, we had burial shrouds for those who had died. There weren't many but enough. There was a son of Apollo, a daughter of Ares, and Castor, one of Mr. D.'s kids.
We got our second bead then. It was a maze. That was a bit obvious.
I was only supposed to have one bead like my siblings but Thalia and Zoë had argued that I should get one after I completed my first quest.
Before long, I went back to the city with my siblings and we celebrated Bianca and I's birthday.
Aunt Sally had baked a blue cake for us. She told us that the blue thing was a tradition she had after she got into an argument with her ex-husband.
Everything was going great and school started off well. Until Thanatos came to talk with me.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'd love feedback. See you next time!
