A week later, Jade is walking through the streets close to where Avengers tower used to be, smiling as she texts Peter. She shakes her head at his selfie, showing him swinging through the streets. She warns him not to text and swing, but jumps as he twirls around a lamppost, stopping in front of her.
"Hey. Sorry I'm late," Peter apologises, and she smiles putting her phone away.
"Its fine. I've just come from a coffee stop with Anna to be honest," Jade tells him.
"You ready?" Peter asks, and she nods excitedly.
"Yeah. I've missed it," Jade says, already wrapping her arms around his neck. She laughs as he shoots a web, pulling them into the sky and swinging them past buildings above the traffic. Peter cheers as she laughs, feeling her excitement radiate through her. He lets go of a web, free-falling for a moment, her laughter turning into a shriek before he shoots another web, laughing as she hits his shoulder.
"Didn't you like that?" he teases.
"Don't make me hurt you, Peter," she warns, laughing once more before they land in a square.
"You okay?" Peter asks, smiling under his mask as Jade still his her arms wrapped around him as she stares up at him.
"Yeah. That was amazing," Jade said, a little breathless as she lets go of him.
"Well I should probably get out of here, I need to go on patrol," he says, and she nods.
"Be safe. I'll make you a hot chocolate for when your back," she promises.
"Awesome. See you later," he says, grinning as she kisses his cheek through his mask before he jumps to sit on top of a lamppost, waving at her. He's about to leave when he pauses, seeing the breaking news.
"We come to you now with revelations about last week's attack in London," the reporter announces, and Peter glances at Jade who is also watching the television. "An anonymous source provided this video. It shows Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, moments before his death. A warning, you may find this video disturbing." The screen cuts to Beck on the bridge, speaking to a camera.
"I managed to send the elemental back through the dimensional rift, but I don't think I'm gonna make it off this bridge alive. Spiderman attacked me for some reason. He has an army of weaponised drones, Stark technology, he's saying he's the only one who's gonna be the new Iron Man, no one else," Beck says, and Jade glances at Peter as the video turns to Peter, his identity still hidden.
"Are you sure you want to commence the drone attack? There will be significant causalities," EDITH's voice could be heard.
"Do it. Execute them all," Peter answered.
"This shocking video was released earlier today on the controversial news website ," the news reporter said, the screen cutting to said news website.
"There you have it, folks, conclusive proof that Spiderman was responsible for the brutal murder of Mysterio, an interdimensial warrior who gave his life to protect our planet and who will no doubt go down in history as the greatest superhero of all time. But that's not all, folks. Here's the real blockbuster. Brace yourselves. You might wanna sit down," J. Jonah Jameson said, the video cutting back to Beck.
"Spiderman's real- Spiderman's real name is-Spiderman's real name is Peter Parker," Beck said, after the video had stopped jittering. An image of Peter's yearbook photo appears on the screen, and Jade places her hand over her mouth in shock, glancing up at Peter as he grips his head in his hands.
"What the fuck?!"
"Spidey!" Jade shouts, grabbing his attention. He notices the crowd staring up at him, mixed emotions on their faces. Jade holds her hand up, Peter grabbing and as he swings past her.
"What am I going to do?!" he shouts, Jade wrapping her arms around his neck as they swing higher, reaching an empty rooftop. "This puts everyone at risk now," he says, ripping his mask off and pacing in front of her. "May, you, Ned."
"Peter," Jade says, grabbing his arm and stopping him in front of her. "We're going to fix this, it will be fine. We need to get back to your apartment and make sure May is alright," she soothes, hiding how freaked out she really is to calm Peter. He nods, stopping in front of her. "It's like I said, this is something different, but we're lucky to have it," she says, trying to make him smile.
"You would have been better with your old routine, before you met me," he says quietly, smiling tightly when she shakes her head. "You might want it back after this."
