Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or 6teen
Jazz came as soon as she got the call from Amélie. The girl wasted no time dragging Danny along as he carried her to the apartment. It wasn't long before the French girl heard a knock on the door.
"Jazz?" Amélie opened the door to see the red-headed Fenton. "Jasmine!" The French girl hugged her as she cried. "Thank goodness you have come! It was terrible!"
"Amélie, don't worry." Jazz's voice was soothing as she patted her friend on the back. "We came as soon as we heard."
Amélie wiped her tears away as she smiled. "Merci, Jasmine. Thank you for..." she paused as the last part registered. "What do you mean we?"
At the doorway, next to Jazz, Danny stood staring at Amélie. If his hormones were going crazy from arriving at Amélie's residence, he didn't notice, only looking at the French girl's sorrowful and scared expression. He gave a compassionate look as he spoke.
"I'm sorry, but when Jazz got off the phone, she asked me to come along for any support." Danny rubbed the back of his head and turned. "I understand if you don't want me around—"
"No. That is alright." Amélie spoke with urgency as she calmed down. "I just didn't think you'd come."
"Sorry, but I figured having my brother around might help," Jazz said. "It just seemed better to bring backup."
"I understand," The French girl said. She let the siblings in as she guided them to the living room.
While Danny's hormones bothered him about being in the girl's house, he was more concerned with Amélie herself. He and Jazz went to the couch as the French girl sat beside Jazz.
"So, what happened?" Danny asked ahead of Jazz.
Amélie began her story where she got out of the shower, searching for her sleepwear. From there, it was how she heard a woman's haunting voice as she almost lost conscience. Danny and Jazz stared in shock and concern with slacked jaws as they listened to how a ghost nearly possessed Amélie. While only one of them had been overshadowed, the way the experience was explained match the exact details, especially the unknown voice in her head.
"And you reached for the Spector Deflector I gave you." Jazz walked up, hugging her friend in concern. While ghost attacks were common, she didn't think the device would be needed that much. "Wow! I'm glad I gave it to you."
"As am I, Jazz. But I am worried about this fantom. What if she comes back?" Amélie curled herself into a ball of worry as she pondered recent events. "She seemed...determined."
Danny sent a sympathetic look. No one knew more than him about the effects of ghosts on people's lives. While he did everything to protect the town, it still hurt him to hear such a tale. It seemed like whoever was behind this wanted Amélie's identity.
"Well, don't worry. I have a feeling that might be the last time this happens," Danny remarked. He saw the stare his sister was giving and gave a face that said "What?".
"Are you sure?" Amélie said.
"I am." Danny instinctively grabbed Amélie's hand, keeping the girl in place. He was still until he noticed a smirk from his sister, letting go as he realized what the hand holding looked like.
Amélie stared at the ghost boy, or more precisely, the fact he was holding her hand with a powerful grip. The girl looked at him in confusion, remembering how in gym he doesn't show much physical athleticism and how Dash and the jocks push him around when they're not ogling her.
A part of her was impressed by this strength, and also concerned. But it helped as she gave him a smile.
"don;t worry, Amélie, if there's anyone whos word you can trust on this, it's Danny's," Jazz added, putting a hand on her friend's shoulder.
"Alright. I trust your words. Both of you." Amélie got up and walked her company out the door. She waved goodbye as she locked the door, preparing for tomorrow's day.
"Danny are you sure you can handle this on your own?" Jazz asked down the hall. "I mean, that hand holding was cute, but usually you look for the ghosts."
"Relax, Jazz." Danny waved his hand nonchalantly with a calm smirk. "It's just one ghost after her. This won't be hard. I just gotta wait."
"Ok, maybe not easy. how long does it take for ghosts to appear?" Danny groaned to himself as he floated invisibility above Amélie. He looked around at all the shops in the mall where she went. Apparently, window shopping was therapeutic for the French girl.
While the ghost boy was all for protecting the girl, there wasn't much going on except the usual boys flocking towards Amélie like dogs to a slab of meat. It was honestly pathetic to see, but there was no need to intervene, considering after the Halloween party, the boy kept an eye on each other. They never followed the French girl into the store, especially when mall security was called by store managers who had enough of the boys' drooling.
Danny continued his survey, bored out of his mind. While Amélie was beautiful to look at, the lack of action was mind-numbing. He was starting to think the ghost had given up. But he knew that was never the case as he could recall the countless times one ghost haunted a bubble wrap store.
The ghost boy persisted in his task, watching Amélie with a hawk's view and getting bored of it quickly. Most guys would have stared for hours admiring the French girl's low-cut shirt, but the ghost boy had more of a sense of purpose flying around.
He kept this up as Amélie bumped into someone as she admired a dress on her right. The girl tripped, propping herself up as she held a hand for the girl, seeing a familiar face.
"Hey! Watch where you're—" Paulina snapped, stopping when she saw Amélie. "Oh...Amélie."
"Paulina! Bonjour!" Amélie smiled as she waved hello. Reaching out, she helped Paulina up. "I take it you are here for shopping as well?"
"A little." Paulina was distant as she looked around. Star was next to her, holding a few bags as she waved hello. "I'm just looking for the latest fashion. Something that shows more of my beauty." The girl flipped her hair and gave a cocky smile.
"I see. I was looking for something cute too. I need to, like you say, take the edge off." Amélie looked distant at the last part, not wanting to mention the ghosts. While she knew of Paulina's crush on Danny Phantom, she doubted any others would interest the popular girl.
Paulina looked over Amélie in her shirt and skirt combo, the usual attire, and got an idea. Smirking, she grabbed the French girl's hand, guiding her to follow. Star walked behind, rolling her eyes.
"I know just the place to do that," Paulina said.
"Actually...I-" But Amélie was cut off.
"I treat." Paulina dragged the French girl around the mall, not taking no for an answer. While she didn't like her unexpected guest, her love of shopping outweighed her distaste by a wide margin. The first stop was Abyss.
Danny groaned, now realizing this stakeout would be spent looking at clothes and hearing employers trying to sell products. While he could understand the concept of buying, fashion was an alien subject to him that wasn't going to be abducting his mind anytime soon.
He almost wished any ghost would appear. Even the Box Ghost would be good company.
It was then that Danny's ghost sense went off, and he knew trouble was coming. Whether it was for Amélie didn't matter as he flew off and surveyed the area.
A wing over, the ghost boy saw a group of ghostly lizards haunting the local pet store. They were missing an assortment of limbs that varied with each one. One of them, missing an eye and back legs, spotted the ghost boy, lashing its extensive tongue at him like a whip.
Danny dodged, cracking his knuckles as he got to work. "This should not take long," he said.
As Danny was doing his job as protected of Amity Park, Paulina had made the group stop at the beach store, Bikini Republic, picking out specific articles through the racks.
This left Star alone with Amélie, letting them talk about whatever came to mind. However, Star couldn't help asking a question about the French girl's ample chest.
"So having big boobs sucks?" Star asked.
"I never shamed my body, but beside from all the attention, they are heavy, and I have to special order my bras." Amélie held up her chest, pushing them up and down for emphasis, knowing there were no boys here, as far as she knew. "Not to mention I can't run that hard or things..."
She didn't finish that sentence.
"Or what?"
Amélie sighed deeply with a somber tone. The girl ran a hand through her hair to collect herself. Grooming was calming, giving a sense of control as the girl stood tall.
Well, taller. One thing that Star noticed was how the French girl towered over her by a head. It was a detail she seemed to have ignored for a while. Then again, everyone had been paying attention to two details in particular.
"You ok?" Star asked.
Amélie glanced at the blonde, biting her lip in frustration before sighing. The French girl took a deep breath and sat straight, cupping her chest.
"Like I said, bigger isn't always better," Amélie sighed.
"Well, at least you won't worry about...well, popularity," Star commented.
"What good is that if it's only because of my breasts?"
Star frowned, looking sad with a sideways glance. She stared at other shoppers and Paulina going over the racks.
"I'm sorry," Star said. "I was just trying to be positive." She looked at Amélie. "I don't know what positive traits there'd be with big boobs."
To the blonde girl's surprise, Amélie smiled, much to her confusion.
"I admit they are a hassle, but they do also have advantages I work on when I can."
Star blinked as she stared at Amélie's chest, wondering about the other advantages besides being a boy magnet. But before she could ask, Paulina came in a few swimsuits and placed them in the French girl's arms.
"Here. You'll need a swimsuit for the school trip." Paulina commented. She picked up her phone and unlocked the screen. "Try these on and see which one you like."
Amélie picked up each particle of swimwear, noting how mono-colored each was with their simple designs. She smiled squarely as she held one to her body, shaking her head. Getting up, she put the pile on the chair.
"Bikinis work for me just fine." Amélie held up her chest for emphasis.
Paulina rolled her eyes. She had enough of Amélie's abnormally large chest and the cheap attention it was still getting. While a bikini would work for her overexposure plan, there was one problem.
"The school doesn't allow bikinis on trips to the water park. Trust me, I've tried to change that."
"But—"
"If you're gonna join us on trips to the pool, yoiu'll need a one piece. School rules," Star explained as Paulina went to the racks.
Paulina handed Amélie a one-piece swimsuit. It was red, white, and blue in a striped pattern. It seemed more festive than the others, but the popular Latina girl gave half-lidded eyes as she threw it to the French girl.
Amélie would have objected but sighed as she when to the changing room. It was then that Danny came back after finishing off the lizard ghosts with some searching.
Coming through the walls, the ghost boy focused on the customers, looking for the popular students in particular. After a while, he spotted Paulina and Star by the changing rooms, waiting impatiently as Paulina angrily searched the racks.
"Ugh! I swear, once Amélie finally stops stealing everyone's attention, I'll be like so glad to have things back in order," Paulina seethed, casually checking out a cute one-piece swimsuit by holding it against her in the mirror.
"I don't think she ever meant to on purpose." Star looked at the changing booth as she recalled how the French girl seemed melancholy, but Paulina had different ideas.
"Don't be ridiculous. No girls doesn't want all that attention." Paulina poked a finger in Star's face. She went back to the clothing racks as she waited a few minutes. She picked out a few outfits and saw all the other changing rooms occupied.
"Hey, Amélie, you done yet?" Paulina asked impatiently.
A loud snap was heard from the dressing room as Paulina and Star turned to the curtain. The head A-lister girl took her head and peeked through the side of the curtain.
"Amélie, what was—..." she stopped mid-sentence in silence as she slowly took her head out. Danny, who followed, wondering if something happened while he was away, looked on from above as Paulina held part of the curtain to the side. They both froze at the sight of Amélie.
The French girl was huddled to the other side of the booth. She had most of the one piece on. It seems Paulina had forgotten to consider that a regular-size swimsuit might not fit the foreign exchange student's abnormally large chest or didn't care to.
"Sorry, but with breasts this big, they can cause...problems." Amélie held up the one-piece swimsuit up to part of her chest. The straps at the top parted, showing much of the top of her chest as she pushed it up.
Paulina stared, twitching one eye as her hands clawed in the air by her side. She said nothing, taking one step backwards and closing the curtain. Leaving the French girl alone, she scrunched her face in anger as she brought her hands under her chest, walking away as Star checked in on Amélie.
Danny reacted differently as he stared with his jaw on the floor. Sweat ran down his head as his eyes devoured the sight before him before slowly backing away as his mind reminded him of his task. A difficult task as the boy had a solid reminder that he was still a teenage boy multitasking in his life. He looked around, noticing he was in the Bikini Republic and kept to himself as he stared at the changing room.
Wow...I'm trying to protect someone, and the greatest problem is hormones...it's official, puberty sucks. Danny internally groaned.
The ghost boy fought within himself as he stared out the window. While he was no stranger to how his body was changing and admitting to indulging in his curiosity on occasion, he felt a wave of guilt as he did everything to keep a sense of professionalism in regard to his task. A ghost was stalking Amélie, and he was here contemplating between protecting her from afar to up close.
"This is different than going into the girl's locker room after practice. Though I only did that twice...maybe more." Danny gazed at the window of Amélie, seeing a shirt drop from her silhouette. While the boy never doubted how pretty she was or the temptation of her breasts, he kept away from those thoughts due to repercussions, ghosts, and trying to maintain an everyday life.
Now, he was protecting her from ghosts as part of his life, and the French girl was another girl right now. The boy sweated profusely as he tried to distract himself.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait for the next ghost to show up," Danny groaned. "Why didn't I bring Sam and Tucker along?" The boy pondered for a moment before recalling the reasons. "Oh right, Tucker would just...yeah and Sam...I don't even want to know."
As the boy mentally debated with himself. He did not notice Star walking up, bringing a swimsuit to the booth.
"Here. This one should fit you better. We'll handle the broken one at the register," Star said, handing the clothes to Amélie.
"Mérci," Amélie replied as the ghost boy maintained a healthy distance while still invisible. It was a few long minutes before anything was heard. "BCBG!"
"Be-what?" Star asked.
Amélie peeked her head out as she gave an embarrassed smile. "Sorry, I meant to say, it looks...stylish," she said before returning. A few moments later, she came out with the swimsuit Star picked out with the one she broke over it.
"You really think so?" Star was beaming as she smiled at the French girl. The two walked up to the register. Danny still maintained a distance from the air, but now, he had a bored look.
"Oui! You have very nice tastes. And it fitted me perfectly."
"Thanks! I didn't think anyone would like it. Paulina is the one to pick out the styles. She says it's because the most popular girl is supposed to know the best brands, but I mean...you know..." Star meekly frowned as her back hunched a bit. She looked away as the French girl stared curiously back at her.
The two got up to the clerk, where Amélie brought the swimsuits. There she explained the damage done and paid for both sets.
"I see...Well, please pay for both pieces," The female clerk said, sending Amélie a look. The lady glanced at her chest, muttering to herself too low to hear.
The french girl sighed as she paid for her items, mortified. Star looked around, noticing mixed reactions of emotions amongst the eavesdroppers. She could feel some of the guys' smiles and heard some scoffs.
The blonde girl felt Amélie couldn't have gone out of the store any faster.
Outside, Paulina turned her back to the group, looking into the clouds with blank eyes. She noticed the drooling faces of boys looking behind her and growled at the meaning.
"Paulina?" Star crept towards her friend with a concerned face.
Paulina didn't turn around nor said a word, her eerie silence scaring Star, who backed up two steps. She huffed, glanced at Amélie, and walked away and out of the mall like it was a dead zone. It was apparent she had enough of Amélie, growing tired of the attention unintentionally taken. But no one's opinion matters, for to Paulina, not being the center of attention was like the entire world meant nothing.
"What was that all about?" Amélie asked.
"No clue. I guess she just had enough for today." Star didn't move from her spot. She knew the real reason but kept quiet for her friend. She glanced at Amélie, realizing she never spoke a word to the girl. She knew of the reasons the girl was popular but had been curious about the foreign exchange student in general.
"So, wanna go to another store? There's still some time for shopping "Star suggested.
"Sure, but can you carry any more?" Amélie pointed to the bags Star had been carrying.
"Oh, these...they're Paulina's. Some are mine, but I guess she forgot again." Star shook her head with another roll of her eyes. She jumped the bags up as she beckoned the French girl to follow with her shoulders. "Come on!"
Amélie stared but nodded with a smile as the two explored the mall. While it was nothing like the St. Lazare, the girl was excited to travel the halls once again.
Star pointed to a jewelry store she and Paulina had requented. The two girls walked in to be greeted warmly as Star asked for her bags to be held onto as they pursued the shop. There were many wonderful bracelets, rings, and necklaces shining with the most colorful combination of precious stones. From gold to silver, many accessories were on display.
"Oh, I love this one. It's a replica of the Hutton-Mdivani necklace. Paulina says it's gaudy, but I like how simplistic it is." Star stared at the jade necklace with shining eyes. Amélie joined her, ooo-ing at the piece.
"You have very good taste, Star," Amélie complimented her.
Star had a sheepish smile at that. "You really think so?" She stared deeply at Amélie. "Paulina usually tells me it's not shiny or pretty enough."
"Elle capte rein. This is gorgeous."
Star smiled, looking at the girl with respect. The French girl noticed but dropped her face, unable to discern the look. She had been used to seeing lust or contempt, it seemed too long since arriving had she seen beyond that spectrum of emotions.
The girls said nothing and left. Danny took the time to glance at the necklace from his undetected presence. He shrugged at the jewelry, following closely as he learned new things.
From there, the girls visited many malls, from Albatross and Finch to a Khaki Barn, where the employees all looked and sounded the same.
Danny made a mental note to check that out later.
As the girls walked, Amélie stopped by the local arcade, where many had gathered for a dancing tournament. The girl stared with curiosity as Star walked up to her.
"Video games?..." Amélie stared at the arcade. She brought a finger to her chin, tapping it as she glanced to the sky. "You know, I never had much of a chance to see what was the joy in those games."
"Not even with Dance Off?" Star asked.
"Once, but I drew too large a crowd and they were watching me dance, so to say." Amélie started walking again as the blonde girl followed.
"I see..." Star said, guessing why.
She then saw one game in particular.
"How about next time, we come when there's not many people around. Just you, me, and some Dance Off," Star suggested.
"Toutafe'" Amélie said.
"You gotta teach me French one day."
The girls giggled. From afar, Danny watched with a smile. Glad to see such a heartwarming moment. It was times like this, he was happy with everything he's done for Amity Park. Wiping a small tear from his eye, he resumed patrol as Amélie stepped into a Frilly and Pink store.
"So far, so good. and not a ghost in sight," He said before his ghost sense went off. "And...I just jinxed it."
"Yes. You did." came a voice as the ghost boy was tackled across the mall. He hit the sign of a Penalty Box hard before feeling claws pinning him to it. People gasped and ran as they saw the chaos. Amélie and star were too occupied with the cute clothes to notice.
The ghost boy shook his head as he saw who pinned him down. Meeting with red eyes attached. They could only belong to one ghost he knew.
"Spectra!?" Danny shouted as he saw the dark wisp.
"Surprise! Surprise!" Spectra lifted her right arm, extending her talons. Her face contorted with a slashing predator's smile. "Now time to go!"
Danny phased through her grip as the claws came down. Backing away, he retaliated with a couple of icy orbs flung at the ghost.
Spectra grunted at the hard impact. Her ectoplasmic form dented momentarily by the attack. Smiling, she realigned her wispy body before glaring.
"Alright, Spectra. Just what are you planning?" Danny demanded with glowing fists.
"Isn't it obvious? I want to be beautiful, and that girl is almost perfect." Spectra pointed back where Amélie was. She looked ready to dive. "A few alternations and she'll be the perfect body."
"Almost perfect?..."Danny questioned, not seeing anything wrong.
"Her boobs are too big. There is not balance in her body. Isn't it obvious?" Spectra muttered. The dark spirit glared as she reeled back a glowing fist. "Oh, well. Doesn;t matter. You'll be gone before I do anything."
Danny shook his head, phasing through the ghost's grip before flying around to deliver a punch to the face. "Hey, I think I made some improvements to your looks," he quipped. The spirit growled, but he gripped Spectra's ghostly tail and dragged her through the roof and into open skies.
"Stay away from her!" Danny warned.
"Aw, the little freak has a crush on another girl that's way out of his league," Spectra mocked. She zoomed in on the boy, but he floated down, retaliating with an icy blast, freezing her in place.
"It's not about that. It's about making sure everyone is safe from ghosts like you."
Spectra fell, shattering her child binds upon hitting the roof. She shivered for a moment as Danny brought out the Fenton Thermos.
"Don't think this is the end. You've stopped me, for now. But I'll never stop at becoming beautiful. And one day, I'll make sure to get at the little girl, and make sure you know," She seethed with her shivering voice.
The ghost boy rolled his eyes, having heard such threats time and time again. He may not be perfect, but he'd do his best. Activating the thermos, Spectra screamed as she was captured. Capping the thermos, Danny sighed before glancing back at Amélie. He turned invisible before phasing back into the mall for one last inspection before heading home. But before he left, he checked on the French girl, who walked out of the Frilly and Pink with Star.
The two were laughing as they spoke.
"I must say, this was more enjoyable than I imagined. I'm glad we got to chat today," Amélie said, inspecting the pink tank top in her bag. "I only wish I could do this more often."
"What do you mean? We can hang out at school, right?" Star asked, but the other girl sighed.
"You mean with all the jocks hounding me? I'm sure we would be able to speak in peace," Amélie explained with a dry tone.
Danny smiled but didn't feel as happy. And it is evident given how Amélie stated she wanted to socialize more. A part of him wanted to talk to her, but Phantom would cause unwanted interest, and Fenton would be pummeled mercilessly. Shaking his head, the boy flew home, hoping there would be a chance to let his new friend relax.
But part of him doubted that. Not only was Amélie the talk of the school, but now the ghosts were noticing her. A stone danced in the ghost boy's stomach as he thought about the future.
It was high time to include Amélie in these ghostly adventures. And she'll have more adventures in the future as the ghosts take notice of Danny and his growing friendship-turning-romance for her. I hope you enjoy.
