Chapter 108: Already Gone

In our modern age, there are so many ways for information to travel and yet with all our tablets and smartphones, there are still some people who like get their morning dish the old fashioned way even without the information highway good news always seems to travel fast but bad news? Well you know what they say.

Elizabeth walked into the coffee shop with Ella on her hip.

"Hey boss" Matt said sitting at a table.

"It's always weird seeing you on this side and not the other side." She replied "And why are you here on your day off, you think you would want to stay away from here.

"Drew is working today"

"Hey B…hey Ella" Drew said and Ella giggled

"I see where I rank now" she replied "Can I get a coffee and a milk for her"

"Of course. Carter is upstairs" he said.

"Oh" she said "Can I get those to go then"

"Why are you avoiding him?" Matt asked.

"It's complicated" she said as Drew handed her the 2 drinks. "Thank you"

She headed to the Loft to visit her dad. She opened the door while she heard fighting.

"Then how about you give me a call when you're ready to be a partner again"

"Sorry to interrupt" Elizabeth said covering Ella's ears

"Lily was just leaving" Rufus said and Lily left.

"You okay Dad?" she asked

"Yeah Rock star I'm good. What brings you by?"

"Well Ella wanted to see her Grandpa"

"And I always love seeing her" he said grabbing her. "So how is everything with you?"

"Well Chuck's Bio mom came out and it's weird"

"Cause she's not only your daughter's grandmother but your ex boyfriends ex-girlfriend"

"Yeah, something like that" she replied

"How is Chuck handling it all?"

"He hasn't decided how he wants to go forward with it, like he says Ella already had two grandmothers. Two that she loves very much"

"Indeed she does. Which speaking of. Your mother wants to spend a month with her this summer and since I'll have her I thought maybe I could take her there"

"Of course. I know she hasn't gotten to spend a lot of time with her. I mean she came to town this last summer and of course over the holidays this year when I was a mess but"

"Right." He said "Oh I talked to Jenny and she says hi"

"How is she? I sent her our normal email and haven't heard back. Assumed that she is busy with finals"

"She told me that she is excited for your tour and is planning on surprising you. I didn't tell you though"

"Okay I'll keep it secret and act so surprised. I wonder if she can design me some tour outfits? I need to email her."

"Well if you need to run errands I will take this little girl. Though she will probably know the guitar by time you pick her up."

"Oh Drew is already on top of that. He has even taught her how to dance."

"She is gonna be multitalented"

"For sure, artistic job at night while running the Bass Business by day. That girl is set." she said "Thank you dad. Love you"

"Love you too Rock star" he said "Now that you have a free day, how are you gonna spend it."

"I am gonna go skate. It's been a while. Actually since January so"

"Well have fun rock star" she said.

She got to the ice rink and put her skates on. She stepped on the ice and began to skate around. She missed the ice and it felt great just to be there to clear her head.

"Hey" she heard Carter say. She stopped and turned to him.

"Hey" she said skating over.

"Gossip Girl said you were here" he said "Are you avoiding me?"

"Yes" she said stepping off the ice.

"Why?"

"Because I told you to go and you're still here. Let me go Carter. I haven't been yours in a very long time" she taking off her skates and putting her shoes back on.

"I just hate that I lost you to Chuck of all people"

"I can't control who I love." She said. "You will always be my first love. No one can take that from you but you aren't my true love. And I know I thought it was Nate and I was set on that but love is surprising and it's never what you think."

"He's gonna break your heart. I just know it. Blair and Dan will break up and then where will you be.

"Wow. Harsh" she said and walked past him.

She went by the loft and picked up Ella and headed home. She walked in and spotted Chuck sitting on the couch.

"Daddy" Ella said and reached out for him. He grabbed her from Elizabeth and she sat down.

"How was your day Miss Ella?"

"Can you say Grandpa taught you the guitar?"

"Wow" Chuck said.

"Monkey" Ella said petting the dog.

Nate walked in.

"Oh, hey. How was your day?"

"I've decided to delete certain disturbing images of my mother's past from my mind and attempt a relationship with her."

"Wow, I'm proud of you" Elizabeth replied as Ella rubbed her eyes. "I'm gonna take her to bed"

"Okay" Chuck said and kissed Ella's forehead and Elizabeth picked her up. Ella started crying.

"It's okay Ella" Nate said kissing her forehead "When you wake up, we will all be here"

"Okay" the little girl said. Elizabeth smiled at him and walked away.

She got Ella all tucked in. She grabbed the monitor and walked back into the living room.

"But if Elizabeth is really my mother then why would she deny being the donor. Something still doesn't add up"

"What?" Elizabeth asked.

Chuck walked away and Elizabeth looked at Nate.

"What is happening?"

He came back in.

"The only thing that Diana and Elizabeth have in common is my Uncle Jack" Chuck said and Elizabeth sat down. Chuck handed something to Nate. "Take a look at this photo again. You see the tattoo on the guys arm?"

"Yeah, so?" Nate asked.

"I know that tattoo" he said and handed Nate another picture. "Take a look"

Elizabeth stood up and looked over Nate arm.

"The man in that photo is not my dad it's Jack. What if all this subterfuge over my mother's identity was actually disguising the real question? Its not who's my mom. It's who' my dad"

"Whoa" Elizabeth said.

"I think Jack Bass is my father" Chuck said.

"Wow" she said
