My Hero Academia
Tales of The Foreigner
Chapter Fourteen
Familiar Face
"Come on Heather, it's a simple question," Ectoplasm said as Heather stood in front of the blackboard, chalk in hand as she was trying to solve an easy math problem…well easy for Ectoplasm. Solving a multiplication problem may be easy for him…and some of the students in the class, but in her case…it was like trying to understand another language…only it was math. And the equation she was trying to answer was two times two. Heather looked over at her classmates as she noticed Kaminari and Mina holding up a sign to the answer without Ectoplasme seeing them. A small smile appeared on her face as she started writing down the answer. The moment she was done, she moved away from the board to reveal her answer. Though in doing so, Mina and Kaminari facepalm themselves. The teacher couldn't help but find it amusing. She indeed wrote down the right answer…but she also drew the two people who gave her the answer.
"Like this…right?" Heather asked as she noticed the teacher walking over to her.
"Well…you got the answer right…even though you did have some help." He said before erasing the blackboard. "But next time, just put the number on the board, not the people giving you the answer."
"R-Right, sorry."
"It's fine. Just remember to do that. Most people won't let something like this slide." He said before starting to write on the blackboard as Heather walked back to her seat in embarrassment. Before he could finish writing down another math problem, the school bell rang. Indicating that class was over and it was time for the next class. "Remember that you have an upcoming exam after the sports festival. Use the time that you have to study so you'll be prepared for it." As the students began to talk among each other and the teacher was leaving the classroom, Heather was currently having her face buried in her arms as her face was blushing red. Though she did poke her head up upon hearing some footsteps coming from behind. Looking around she saw Mina who had a grin on her face, and Momo with a somewhat mixed expression ranging from trying not to laugh to concern.
"Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting half of the day to be somewhat comedic," Mina said as Heather buried her face back into her arms as she groaned. "B-But hey, at least the teachers weren't that hard on you."
"Doesn't help the fact that I made a fool of myself…again," Heather said as she felt Momo place a hand on her shoulder.
"It takes time to get the hang of a lot of things. You can't expect to be good at something within less than an hour or so without practice. This is also a good thing because it shows that you're not what they think you are."
"Momo's right. Just keep being the way you are and I'm sure things will turn out fine." Mina said as Heather looked up to see the two girls smiling at her. The bunny girl simply nodded to their statement as she pulled herself up from her seat.
"How do the clothes hold up for you? They're not tight or anything are they?" Momo asked as Heather shook her head.
"No, they feel great. Much better than wearing rags throughout the day. The boots even help keep me on the ground so I don't get blown away like before." She said before looking over herself. "I really should give Mineta something in return for this…you think he would be interested in a Gameboy Advance SP?"
"You…have a Gameboy Advance SP?" Mina asked as Heather reached into her tail to pull out the said device. "...Okay what do you have in that tail?"
"Oh, I got all sorts of stuff," Heather answered as she placed the device back into her tail before pulling out an assortment of stuff. "Snacks, toys, food that I stashed away that was thrown in the garbage but was still in perfect condition, and more GameBoy advance games." She said while placing them on the desk. "Drill Dozer is my favorite game. Could never find that secret level in one of those levels?"
"Um..n-no thanks. We're kind of full after this morning's breakfast." Momo said as she eyed the mountain of stuff on the desk. "Though you want to throw away the food that you found in the…garbage."
"How come? It's still good…isn't it?"
"Well when it's thrown in the trash, that usually means that it expired. P-Plus I'm sure Lunch Pass can make you some snacks to replace them. So why don't you take your games and toys with you while I take care of the other stuff."
"Oh…um okay," Heather said before gathering her games and toys as she placed them back into her tail. "So what's the next class again?"
"Art History with Midnight," Mina answered. "Normally Present Mic would be teaching us as a sub for her, but now that Midnight's back from her mission she'll be teaching us from here on out."
"That's a weird hero name to have…does she have a quirk that allows her to control the night…wait is she like batman!?"
"Um…no… let's just say, be prepared for what you'll see when you meet her." She said before hearing the door to the classroom open up. The moment she looked up, she noticed Midnight entering the room with a smile on her face.
"Good morning my lovely children!" Midnight yelled as she made her way to the front of the classroom. "Now I know you all have been wondering where I've been for the past few days, well-" The R-Rated hero paused upon seeing Heather as her mouth dropped open. "You!"
"Oh, fudge!" Heather said as she stood up from her seat in a slight panic. "You're the weird lady that whips people in dark alleyways three months ago!" She yelled as it caused everyone in the class to look at Heather for a moment before looking at Midnight, who was bright red in the face.
"Wait, you two know each other?" Mineta asked as Heather spoke up.
"Three months ago, I saw this lady whipping a guy in a dark alleyway with a whip. He was crying and saying something…I couldn't understand what he was saying, but I know he might've been pleading for her to stop. But she kept on whipping him…oddly enough he had a weird happy expression on his face after a while. What's even worse, she had a devilish smile on her face like she was enjoying it!"
"F-First of all, you're taking it way out of context, child. I was simply apprehending a villain w-whose quirk happened to be…e-enjoying pain. T-That's all!" She said but noticed the unconvincing expression on some of the students' faces.
"What's even worse. She chased after me with the same expression on her face!" Heather said while shivering from remembering it. "It was almost as scary as Bakugo's face when he chased after me!"
"Hey! Screw you fucking extra!" Bakugo yelled as Midnight deadpans at his foul mouth.
"You're telling me she's a teacher and a hero that works here!?" Heather asked.
"N-Now see here child. I'll have you know that I take my work very seriously. And the reason why I was chasing you was that you looked like the lost child that people have been reporting to be looking through trash cans, dumpsters, and alleyway trash for food!" Midnight yelled as she noticed the pill of food, games, and candy on the desk next to the bunny girl. "Given the pile of stuff you have on the desk, it's clear you're the infamous dumpster bunny."
"Hands off my stuff big booby lady! Get a pile of awesome stuff of your own!"
"Your awesome stuff is nothing more than trash…how were you able to carry all that stuff with you around school?"
"Oh, I put it all in my tail." She said while patting her giant cotton tail. "Comes in handy when I want to carry light stuff in the air."
"Huh…interesting." Midnight said before making her way over to the pile of junk with a trash bin and started to put the stuff in it.
"Hey! You can't do that!"
"Can and will." She said before noticing Heather quickly gathering her stuff. "Hey!"
"You are not taking this away from me!" Heather yelled as the two glared at each other. There was a moment of awkward silence in the air as Midnight and Heather stared at each other for what seemed to be forever. Though that silence was broken when the door to the classroom opened up as Aizawa and Nezu entered. Nezu was about to say something but noticed Heather and Midnight glaring at each other.
"Ah, Midnight. I was hoping to catch you before you started class, but it would seem I was a little bit too late." Nezu said as everyone, minus Heather rushed to their seats. "Oh my. Is something the matter?"
"Watch out Principal Nezu, this big booby lady is pretending to be a hero!" Heather said while using her body to cover her belongings. Nezu stared at the scene presented to him. He looked at the way Midnight and Heather were glaring at each other, the trash bin filled with trash, and Heather protecting the pill of stuff on the desk. It only took him a few seconds to realize what was going on as he walked over to Midnight and Heather.
"What seems to be the problem?"
"Principal Nezu, when you mention that I would be looking after a lost child, I didn't think you would be referring to the dumpster bunny." Midnight said, which took Nezu by surprise.
"You mean the police report about a girl with rabbit features looking through dumpsters and trash cans for food?" He asked as Midnight nodded and pointed a thumb at Heather. "Hm, well this is a surprise. I had forgotten about that seeing how they couldn't figure out what the culprit looked like. What are the odds that we found the culprit?"
"Hey, I did nothing wrong. The food came from the trash, but the game and toys are mine from when I escaped from the man's basement when he kidnapped me."
"You're not in trouble Heather. There's just been a misunderstanding that we need to inform Midnight about. Shouldn't take long." He said before motioning Midnight to follow him and Aizawa outside. The moment the trio left, Heather fell to the ground which caused Mineta to be the first to rush over to see if she was okay.
"Hey, are you okay?" Mineta asked as he noticed some of his classmates circling her. Needless to say, she was a hot mess as her skin looked paler than usual.
"I can't believe I did that. What was I thinking!? She could have easily kicked my butt…or worse, she might do the same thing to me as she did with that poor guy she was whipping." She said as Jirou tried her best not to laugh while helping Heather back onto her feet.
"I'm pretty sure she wouldn't do that," Kaminari said before patting Heather on her back. "At least I hope she doesn't."
"At least I still have my stuff." She said before walking over to the desk she placed her collection on, and placed her collection back into her tail.
"Again, throw away the food that you found in the trash," Momo said as Heather huffed.
"I was gonna…just after class seeing how that big booby lady is teaching art history." She said before noticing an unconvincing look she was getting from Momo, Jirou, Kaminari, and Mineta. "W-What? It's true. Would I ever lie to you guys?"
"No, but I will be watching you do it so that you wouldn't try and sneak some into your tail," Momo said as she watched Heather walk back into her seat. "Anyway, the next class will be with Mr. Aizawa."
"Oh god, not him," Heather said.
"Aizawa's not that bad of a teacher once you get to know him," Mineta said. "Though he might have it out for you given how he doesn't trust you yet."
"Don't remind me. I bet you if anything, he's going to have me fight against Bakugo."
"Aizawa may be harsh and strict at times, but I'm sure he wouldn't do something like that," Mina said as she noticed Heather's deadpan expression. "What? If I'm wrong, then I'll buy you some snacks from the vending machines."
"We'll see, but for now I'm going to focus on this art history thing...Um...what is art history anyway?" Heather asked as the four of them stared at her with the expression "Really hoping Midnight doesn't have a headache after this class." Kind of expression.
