Boba rested peacefully until he felt himself being licked awake.
"Hmm?"
Boba opened his eyes to see Remix there.
"Happy Life Day, Boba!" Remix said.
Boba rubbed his eyes, much more awake now. He looked around and saw he was back in his room at the Naberrie house.
"Was I... dreaming?" He wondered out loud.
"Boba! Big Brother!" Gabby called, running into her brother's room and jumping on the bed. "We made it back! And Santa left presents for us!"
Gabby ran back out to wake up their parents too.
"Mommy! Daddy! Get up!" Gabby shouted, jumping on the bed.
Boba walked by and decided to join in.
"Mom! Dad! Get up!" He shouted, jumping on the bed with his sister... until he tripped and landed on Anakin.
"Okay! Okay, I'm up." Anakin groaned.
The kids all ran downstairs to find a mountain of gifts underneath the tree, and their stockings stuffed with lots of treats.
Naturally, the kids were all so excited to open their gifts, but two of them were very nervous about the gifts they'd gotten for each other.
Gabby picked up her present for Boba and gave it to him.
"I hope you like it." Gabby said.
Boba got his gift for Gabby, "Open yours first."
Gabby looked at the box. Boba knew her so well, as he'd wrapped his present to her in pink paper and tied a pink bow on it. She unwrapped it and was happily surprised to see the pink unicorn princess plushie she'd seen in the mall a few days ago.
"I know it's not much, but I know how much you like unicorns and-"
"I love it, Big Brother." Gabby said. "This plushie is the first gift you ever got me, and now whenever I see a pink pony, I'll think of the best big brother ever."
Gabby kissed her brother's cheek, which made Boba blush a bit as others went aww.
"Now open your gift, Big Brother." Gabby smiled.
And so, Boba opened his present. And underneath the green and white candy-striped paper, he found... a book.
The book was blue with silver glitter star stickers, and big gold letters that said, Memories.
Gabby realized that family was the greatest gift of all, and of all the things she liked making, what she loved to make more than drawings, paper dolls, or music put together... was memories. And when Boba first came home, they began to make all kinds of memories together.
Boba opened the book and found some photos Gabby put together. Photos of Boba with his birth father as well as with his new family, and pictures of all the greatest memories they'd made over the last six months. And halfway through the book, Boba found a card with a message.
Dear Boba,
Every year, I lose count of how many toys, books, and clothes I get as presents, but none of them could compare to the greatest gift of all. I always imagined what it would be like to have a brother or a sister, and I was happily blessed with you. You're not only smart, loyal, and full of surprises, but you have the biggest heart I could ever hope for in a brother, and I love you so much. So, no matter what we got tied in perfect bows for Life Day this year, the real greatest gift is the fact that we have each other and we can make more happy memories together.
Happy Life Day, Big Brother.
Love, your little sister Gabby
Boba felt happy tears fill his eyes when he read that heartfelt message, and he hugged his little sister so dearly.
Soon came the time for the Life Day gala at the palace. Many friends and family were in attendance, including Carousella and Remix's family.
There were so many decorations, cookies, mistletoe, and presents too. And an orchestra played some beautiful music. But the true most beautiful thing was the people coming together, and seeing that the greatest gift of all was right there in front of them.
Gabby: Sure, it's nice to open a gift
That's tied up with a perfect bow
Boba: But the greatest present of all
Was given to me long ago
Gabby and Boba:
It's something I would never trade
It's the family that we've made
Carousella: 'Cause when we're together
I have everything on my list
Remix: (nuzzles his cousin)
And when we're together
I have all I wished
Gabby: All around the Life Day tree
There'll be dreams coming true
Boba: But when we're together
Then my favorite gift is you
Boba picked up his sister and hugged her before joining her in a dance.
Boba and Gabby:
I would travel miles and miles
And I would follow any star
I'd go almost any place
If it's any place you are
Boba: 'Cause when we're together
Gabby: When we're together
Boba: I'll forever feel at home
And when we're together
Gabby: When we're together
Boba: We'll be safe and warm
Gabby and Boba:
Doesn't matter where we are
If you're there with me
Boba: 'Cause when we're together
That's my favorite place
Gabby and Boba:
To be
Bells began to ring and the lights seemed to shine brighter and more beautifully.
'Cause when we're together
Gabby: It's a holiday every night
Boba: And when we're together
Boba and Gabby: Then the season's bright
The brother and sister hugged once more
Boba: I don't need the bells to ring
Gabby: I don't need the bells
Boba: I'll know when it's here
Gabby: I'll know when it's here
That was when their family joined in to take a picture of their first Life Day together as a family tonight.
Boba: 'Cause when we're together
Gabby and Boba: I could stay forever
And when we're together
Skywalkers, Marehearts, and Naberries:
It's my favorite time of year
SNAP!
Picture perfect. A perfect end to a perfect Life Day. One that neither Gabby nor Boba would ever forget.
