Two days after his birthday party, Young Boba Fett-Skywalker was walking down the hallway of the Jedi Temple dormitories, when he heard a loud sound coming from one of the rooms.
AAAAAAAAACHOOOOOO!
Along with that huge sneeze came a bunch of lilies popping out of the walls, and they squirted Boba with water.
"Agh! Not again." Boba groaned.
Gabby's cold had been simply unpleasant when Boba found that she had one and was ignoring it. But now, it seemed to be getting worse before it got better.
Boba got himself dried off and decided to go and check on his sister. But first, he grabbed a scarf and wrapped it around his nose and mouth, not wanting to risk breathing in any germs.
He went to Gabby's room and found Anakin wearing a face mask and cradling Gabby in his arms, helping her drink some orange juice from a sippy cup.
"Hey, Dad. How's Gabby?" Boba asked.
"Not much better, I'm afraid." Anakin said as Gabby finished her juice. "Finished your juice already? Good girl. Now time to rest, little one."
Anakin put Gabby to bed and covered her with lots of soft blankets. Boba even looked into the closet and put Gabby's favorite pink winter beanie with a pom-pom on her head to keep her cozy.
"Achoo!"
Right after Gabby sneezed, a bunch of pink and yellow snapdragons popped out from the floor.
Anakin helped Gabby blow her nose with a tissue. And it was the last one in the box. Luckily, there was another box.
"That's the third box of tissues she's used since this morning." Anakin sighed.
"I always hated catching colds." Boba said.
"And I don't blame you." Anakin said. "Last time I caught one, my temperature went all out of whack. I was too hot with a blanket, and too cold without."
Just then, Anakin's comm beeped. Apparently, he was needed for an important mission.
"My daughter is sick. I can't take a mission now!" Anakin said, removing his mask so Master Yoda could hear him more clearly.
"The only option you are." Yoda said. "Get a babysitter you must."
"And who exactly would be available to babysit on such short notice?"
Boba then tapped Anakin's arm.
"Dad? I can look after Gabby." Boba said.
"I'm not so sure about that, Boba."
"Don't you trust me?"
"It's not that I don't trust you. It's just... you haven't been around Gabby when she's sick before. Things get really crazy, depending on how sick she is."
Gabby sneezed again, and a ton of snow fell onto them.
"See what I mean?"
"Dad, I can handle it." Boba said. "I've been around dangerous bounty hunters, learned how to pilot a ship when I was seven, and spent at least three hours around Gabby on the first day of her cold. I'm pretty sure I can handle looking after her for a few hours. Besides, isn't babysitting a big brother's job?"
Anakin thought about it for a bit, and he said, "I guess you have a point. But I'm gonna let someone know to come help you if you have any problems. Carousella and Remix should be back from Equinaro soon. There are more blankets in the closet if Gabby needs some, there's medicine and cough drops in the bathroom cabinet behind the mirror, and there are more tissue boxes in the healer's wing if you run out here."
Boba reassured his father that he had nothing to worry about. And Anakin quickly left to go handle the mission.
Boba sat down and read a book as Gabby was taking a nap.
As Boba was halfway through his book, he noticed Gabby was shivering all of a sudden. Thankfully, he remembered there were extra blankets in the closet, and he got a nice fuzzy one to help Gabby feel extra cozy.
It stopped Gabby's shivering. Boba made sure Gabby had teddy and that she was comfortably bundled up, and he gently kissed his sister's cheek as she slept.
"Get better soon, little sister." Boba whispered.
So far, so good.
Boba sat down again and continued reading his book as Gabby continued napping.
"Huh. I don't know what Dad was so worried about." Boba told himself. "I've got this babysitting a sick kid thing down. Maybe I'll be a doctor when I grow up."
But, he didn't know that he was in for a doozy of a time.
At some point, Boba fell asleep, but woke up to the sound of violent coughing.
"Huh?! What happened?" Boba stammered as he got up.
Boba looked at the bed to see Gabby was coughing like crazy. He took her out of bed and gently patted her on the back to ease her coughing. It seemed to work, but then... Gabby let out another sneeze, and Boba found himself and Gabby getting drenched in cold water.
"Aw, great." Boba groaned.
Boba immediately got some towels, then got him and Gabby some dry clothes and got Gabby into a dry, fuzzy pink onesie with little white and brown bunnies on it. He even found a cuter pink beanie for her that had little kitty ears on it. Cute and cozy.
"Alright. Let's get you back to bed." Boba said, carrying Gabby.
Except, Gabby started wheezing again, and Boba rushed to get a tissue. But... Gabby sneezed into her brother's shoulder, and a short, violent windstorm filled the room.
"Oh great. Now I've gotta change my shirt again." Boba groaned, amid the snot that got into his sleeve.
"Sorry, Big Brother." Gabby sniffled.
Boba got Gabby a tissue and put her back to bed as she started coughing again.
Gabby sneezed again, and snow filled the room, and so did a strong wind.
Boba couldn't keep Gabby in here! The snow and cold wind would make her illness worse!
So, Boba quickly grabbed his sister and began to carry her out of the room.
"Boba, what are you doing?" asked a familiar voice, which belonged to Carousella.
"Oh, Carousella. Remix. Perfect timing." Boba said. "You mind taking Gabby under your wing for a minute?"
"What happened?" Remix said, noticing snowflakes coming from Gabby's room.
"Sneezes, magic, all that stuff."
While Carousella lay on the floor and kept Gabby warm underneath her wing, Boba went back into the room to get some critical supplies. Gabby's teddy bear, her sippy cup, tissues, some extra onesies and hats in case she messed up her clothes again, and more blankets.
Gabby was shivering like crazy! And the healer's wing was too far for her condition. So, they took her to the nearest spot with a bed. Anakin's room.
"You're sure Anakin won't mind you bringing Gabby in here?" Remix said.
"It's just for a bit." Boba said, putting a blanket over Gabby again. "Besides, as long as we keep Gabby's sneezing down to a minimum, we'll be fine."
"Why do I think that won't be so easy?" Carousella asked no one in particular.
