Chapter 5
"United We Stand"
It all started after Terence and Pixel had just finished watching Avenger Endgame, arguably one of the best Marvel superhero movies ever made, to hear Pixel talk about it. "Terence, I have a question. Have their been Marvel teamups like that BEFORE Endgame?" he asked. Terence thought back, knowing that he read a lot of comics when he was younger, still did. "Now that I think about it, there was several teamups before Endgame. And in terms of video games, there are a few examples that come to mind. And here's one." Terence responded as he got out a copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the Xbox 360. "Let's do it." they both said to each other as Terence powered up his 360, inserted the game, and had his mind transferred into the world of the game, where he was greeted by a cutscene of a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier being attacked on all sides.
"What the heck is going on here? Where's our air support? Get those forward guns going! Why aren't those rear batteries firing?! Somebody get General Wilson on the horn!" shouted the man in charge on the bridge of the helicarrier before the image of a man in a green hood, metal mask and suit of armor came up on the screen. "Colonel Fury." said the man, revealing that the man in charge of the crew aboard the helicarrier was the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. himself, Nick Fury. "Doom, I'll have your mask for this." Fury said, clearly upset at the man he was looking at, who was the ruler of Latveria himself, Victor Von Doom, aka Dr. Doom. "I have litte time for your petty threats, Colonel. Surrender your ship now, or I shall destroy it." Doom demanded. "Not on my watch." Fury responded before making a call. "This is a priority alert to all meta-humans. U.N.N. Alpha requests immediate assistance." Fury continued as, outside on the deck, Captain America, Spider-Man, Thor and Wolverine appeared with a flash of lightning, provided by Thor himself.
"Thor, take care of those gunships! Spider-Man, draw them towards the stern!" Cap ordered as Thor set off. "Sure thing." Spider-Man responded as he acted as a target for one of the gunships. "I just love being the target." he said to himself as he hitched a ride on that same gunship. "Wolverine..." Cap began to say, but Wolvy cut him off. "Stow it boy scout, I don't take orders from you." he said before leaping off the side of the helicarrier, landing on a gunship and went to work on the robots that were aboard, much like the rest of the gunships were. As for Thor, he took out one gunship before being attacked by another. "Souless machine! How dare you strike the son of Odin!" Thor said angrily before destroying the gunship with one lightning fueled swing of his hammer, while Spider-Man watched from below. "Show off." he said before climbing up to the deck of the gunship.
"Excuse me, is this the ferry to Staten Island?" Spidey joked before avoiding a blast from the robot pilot of the gunship, shooting some web in its face, and then taking out the entire robotic crew. But then, his spider senses kick in and alert him of an oncoming crash, which he avoided easily. "Hey Cap, looks like you...whoa!" Spidey said as Cap threw his shield and took out the robot behind Spidey and caught it after it ricocheted off part of the ship to block another robot, taking out another with a kick, and then taking the blocked robot down as Spider-Man watched baffled. "Could use some help." he said, finishing the sentence he had in mind earlier as Cap took the robot's head off with the edge of his shield. As he did, Wolverine was heard laughing as he brough a gunship down in an explosion. "That dude scares me." Spidey said as he, Cap and Thor checked on Wolverine, who emerged from the wreck unscathed. "What are you girls looking at?" Wolvy asked before Fury's voice is heard.
"Gentlemen, this is Colonel Nick Fury. I'm on the main bridge, but I'm not sure how long I'll last. Get here ASAP...Fury, out!" ordered the Colonel as Terence gained control, finding himself split between the views of the four individuals. "Okay, these look like Ultron's minions. And based on what I saw earlier, Dr. Doom is the one who ordered this attack. So it looks like they're teaming up." Terence said to himself as he fought through Ultron's forces. But he soon found that Ultron wasn't the only one that Doom was teaming with, because just up ahead was none other than the original Scorpion, Mac Gargan. "I was hoping to catch someone being a hero. Looks like I hit the jackpot." he said. "Scorpion! What are you doing here?" Terence asked. "I'm working for the biggest group of villains this world has ever known... The Masters of Evil." Scorpion answered. "Who's in charge?" Terence asked, as if he didn't already know. "That's the best part of all. We're led by the man himself... Dr. Doom!" Scorpion answered. "What's he want with this helicarrier?" Terence asked. "If you only knew - cause Doom's got a plan that's gonna shake the heavans." Scorpion answered. "Talk, Scorpion, or you're in for a world of pain." Terence demanded. "You wanna get tough, punk? Good, cause so do I." Scorpion retorted before the fight began.
Scorpion proved to be a tough opponent, due to the fact that the tail served as both a mele and a ranged weapon, since it could fire energy blasts. But once Scorpion was down, Terence's team continued towards the main bridge, eventually reaching it and meeting with Fury. "Thanks for responding to my S.O.S. so quickly." Fury said. "No problem, Colonel Fury. What's the situation here?" Terence asked, as if he didn't already know. "The helicarrier's under attack by a group of super villains called The Masters of Evil. And to make matters worse, they're led by Victor Von Doom." Fury answered. "Dr. Doom is back? That means we're in for real trouble." Terence responded. "My thoughts exactly." Fury added. "But what's the helicarrier doing at this location? You're kind of a long ways from home aren't you?" Terence asked. "It's not important." Fury responded. "But if you told us why you're here, maybe we could figure out why they're attacking the ship." Terence reasoned. "I told you, it's not important." Fury retorted. Suddenly, the radio went off. "Colonel Fury, this is the Black Widow. The Masters of Evil have activated the launch cycle of our nuclear missiles. I need help if they are to be stopped." Widow explained. "Help is on its way, Black Widow. Fury, out. Team, just one of those missiles could level an entire city. Failure is not an option: you have to get to the launch bay and stop them." Fury instructed. "We're on it, Colonel." Terence responded and set off.
After bashing many more of Ultron's robotic warriors, he reached the launch bay. "Colonel Fury, we've made it to the nuclear missile launch bay, what now?" Terence asked. "The only way to stop those missiles from firing is to destroy the consoles that control them." Fury instructed, so Terence set about destroying both consoles, but failed to launch one of the missiles from launching, even if the console was destroyed. "I've just been informed that one of the nuclear missiles launched. I thought I told you to destroy both consoles!" Fury said, quite upset. "There wasn't enough time!" Terence retorted. "Alright. You're going to have to activate the self destruct for that missile. Get to the navigation room on the double." Fury instructed. Ternece headed there, but soon met with another member of the Masters of Evil, Bullseye. "Well, well, well, aren't you just an impressive bunch of heroes? Too bad my good buddies Daredevil and Elektra aren't with ya." Bullseye said. "Get out of our way, Bullseye. We need to use that navigational computer." Terence ordered. "You wouldn't be trying to stop the nuclear missile I just launched would ya?" Bullseye asked. "That was you? But why?" Terence asked back. "Hey, if the boss wants me to launch a missile at a heavily populated city, I do it. I don't get paid to ask questions." Bullseye answered. "Then we're done talking. Get out of our way." Ternece demanded. "Sorry. I can't. And even if I did step aside, there's nothing you can do - I've got the only access card to the navigation computer." Bullseye responded. "Give us that access card or else..." Terence ordered. "I choose 'or else'." Bullseye responded, and the fight was on.
Bullseye proved to be dangerous, due to his almost supernatural accuracy, but Terence was able to take him out, get the access card and destroy the nuclear missile while it was still in flight. "Well done. The missile harmlessly self-destructed. You've averted a nuclear disaster." Fury said over the radio. "It would have been a lot easier if Bullseye hadn't tried to stop us." Terence responded. "Bullseye was there? Doom must be really serious about recruiting talent." Fury said. "Colonel Fury, the Masters of Evil are attacking our stabilizing engine. There's too many for me to stop alone." Black Widow chimed in. "Black Widow, do not enage the enemy. I want you out of there immediately. Team, double-time it and save that engine." Fury ordered, and so Terence did, but quickly finds remnants of an explosion.
"Black Widow, we're near the stabilizing engine but it looks lke an explosion took place here." he pointed out. "That was my fault, I'm afraid. Fortunately, I was not harmed." Black Widow admitted. "Black Widow, I specifically ordered you not to engage the enemy." Fury said, clearly not happy that Black Widow disobeyed orders. "I...I am sorry, sir. It was unavoidable." she responded. "Very well. At least you're safe. Team, you have to stop the enemy from destroying the engine. If they're successful, the helicarrier is finished." Fury ordered, which Terence responded with a hearty 'we're on it' before finding something on the ground. "Looky here, a battered S.H.I.E.L.D. laptop computer. Black Widow must have dropped it during the explosion." Terence said to himself. "Now that I think about it, Black Widow was acting awfully suspicious... Why did she disobey Fury's orders? Better take this laptop and see what I can find out." he said further before moving on. Up ahead, he saw some S.H.I.E.L.D. troops locked in their quarters, so he set about freeing them. After recieving thanks from one of the troops, Terence continued on and, after meeting some of Dr. Doom's personal robotic guard, the Doombots, found the villains attempting to destroy the stabilizing engine, Captain America's former partner from the second World War, Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, and Chen Lu, aka Radioactive Man.
"Winter Soldier, give up. I'm here to stop you from destroying the helicarrier engines." Captain America said, proving that Ternece had lost control of his team. "Captain America...can't say it's good to see you again." Winter Soldier responded. "You have dealt with this fool before?" Radioactive Man asked. "Oh, yeah. Cap and I go way back, don't we, buddy?" Winter Soldier said, sarcastically. "Winter Soldier, please...stop this before the helicarrier is destroyed. Thousands of lives will be lost." Cap said, trying to reason with his former partner. "Sorry, no can do. I've got my orders. You of all people understand that don't you? Orders have always been so important to you." Winter Soldier responded, clearly remember that Cap abandoned him all those years ago. "I'll fight you, if I have to." Cap said. "Then what are you waiting for? Let's see what you've got, old man." Winter Soldier responded as the fight began. It was short, with all the focus of the team being focused on Winter Soldier. Soon, Winter Soldier's radio went off, and it was the voice of Doctor Doom on the other side. "Radioactive Man...Winter Soldier, report. Why haven't you destroyed that stabilizing engine yet?" he asked. "Sorry, we got a little carried away. But we're on it. Lower the force fields and let's clear out of here." Winter Soldier responded. "It is lucky for you we must depart. I was just getting warmed up. But we will meet again, I promise you!" Radioactive Man declared before both villains escaped.
Terence followed them. "I told you they'd follow. They're as predictable as the sunrise." Winter Soldier said, clearly expecting for the team to follow him and Radioactive Man. "Come then, heroes. Follow us a bit further." Radioactive Man said with a laugh before the two continued on. But as Terence reached the end of the cooridor, they were gone. "Huh?! Where did they go?" he asked. "We're up here. Now you've had it." Winter Soldier called out from a nearby destroyed walkway. "Yes, let us see how you fare against this force. Attack!" Radioactive Man declared as more Ultron Warriors showed up. After dealing with them, Terence continued to pursue after Winter Soldier and Radioactive Man until the chase ended at the stabilizing engine. "You are too late. In a matter of moments, the Winter Soldier will have unlocked the security code for this gun. Then we shall fire it into the engine." Radioactive Man said. "That's not gonna happen." Terence retorted. "Don't you understand? You can't defeat the Masters of Evil. We're just too powerful. Abandon ship while you still can." Winter Soldier responded. "How could Dr. Doom have gotten such a large group of super villains together?" Terence asked. "He has a plan that will give us all enough power to live like kings for an eternity." Radioactive Man explained. "Quiet, Chen. You've already said too much." Winter Soldier interrupted, clearly not wanting the details of Doom's plan revealed. "It does not matter. They will not live to tell anyone." Radioactive Man rationalized. "Why don't we make sure of that?" Winter Soldier asked. And with that, the fight was on, again. But this time, both villains went down for the count.
"Colonel Fury, we defeated Winter Soldier and Radioactive Man." Terence reported. "Well done. I wish there was time to rest but we've got big trouble on our hands." Fury responded. "What kind of trouble?" Terence asked. "I'm going to activate a lift nearby you. Take it and I'll explain the situation when you arrive." Fury answered. "Yes, sir, we're on our way." Terence responded as the team headed to and boarded said lift. "Colonel Fury, we just got off the elevator." Terence reported. "There's no time to waste. The Masters of Evil have unleashed some huge creature that's attacking our primary engines. If it succeeds, we're all dead." Fury explained. "Don't worry, Colonel. We'll handle it." Terence responded before heading off to face said creature. After a bit, he finally came face to face with the beast, a massive dragon-like creature. "Mortals, you are foolish to even attempt to battle me. No one can withstand the might of Fin Fang Foom!" the beast bellowed. "The fight's over. The Masters of Evil have lost." Terence retorted. "It is you who has lost! When I send this ship crashing to the earth, the world will see that the Masters of Evil are a force to be reckoned with." Fin responded. "We're not going to let that happen." Terence said, defiantly. "As if you have any say in the matter, human." Fin responded before the battle began. It was clear that physical attacks would do little to harm Fin Fang Foom, so using the anti-aircraft gun was the only option. After many shots from the gun and just as many physical strikes, Fin Fang Foom finally fell.
"That wasn't the most graceful battle I've ever seen, but you saved the hellicarrier. Thanks, team." Fury chimed in. "Just doing our job, Colonel Fury." Terence responded. "When you're done in that area, come back to the bridge. We're moving everyone to Stark Tower before we begin our next mission." Fury ordered. "Our next mission? What are you talking about?" Terence asked. "Come back to the bridge and you'll find out." Fury answered. And so, Terence headed to the bridge, but soon lost control as his team was soon seen inside Stark Tower.
"Why is he always late?" Fury asked himself before the owner of the place, Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, flew down from above to greet them. "Hello, team. Welcome to Star Tower, my pride and joy. It's forty stories of heaven on Earth." Tony said with pride. "Huh, it's amazing what you can do with just a few billion dollars." Spider-Man quipped. "We are now a team?" Thor asked. "Yes. I've been empowered by S.H.I.E.L.D. to create a task force to stop the Masters of Evil. But the helicarrier was so badly damaged that it can't be used as a headquarters. Fortunately, Tony is willing to let us stay here for the duration. It has all the facilities we'll require." Fury explained. "Believe me, it's no problem at all. And I called in a few old friends to help us out, feel free to walk aroud and meet them." Tony said. "I'd suggest you meet Hank Pym first since he's in charge of equipment. The Vision is here as our information officer." Fury said. "Great. we got a computer to talk to the computers for us." Wolverine joked. "When you're ready to go on a mission, talk to Wyatt Wingfoot. He'll take you there in one of my Quinjets." Tony explained. "Speaking of that, what is our next mission, Colonel?" Cap asked. "I recently received a radio transmission from Dum Dum Dugan requesting that I come to the Omega Base. But there was something questionable in his message." Fury answered. "You think it might be a trap?" Cap asked. "Maybe. I can't be sure. For more information, talk to the Black Widow." Fury answered before Terence regained control.
After asking Wyatt to have a look at the laptop he found on the helicarrier, Terence lost control once more as he and his team, now expanded to more than just four heroes, were in the Quinjet and nearing the landing zone for their next mission. "We're close to the landing zone so I'll be brief. Dum Dum Dugan recently sent a suspicious radio message requesting I meet him at the Omega Base for a report on the latest Super Soldier Serum." Fury explained. "What's so suspicious about that?" Cap asked. "Dr. Banner was to give the report. The only thing is, Banner has been working on the Gamma Bomb project, not the Super Soldier Serum. Dugan would never make a mistake like that, something's up." Fury answered. "What is the Omega Base?" Storm of the X-Men asked. "It's a mobile lab that's over five stories tall. We use it for field testing experiments." Fury answered. "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s the greatest. Flying aircraft carriers, office buildings on wheels...please, tell me you've got a tunnel that runs from New York to Tokyo." Spider-Man joked. "Spider-Man, this is serious. Colonel, is there anything onboard the Omega that would be considered dangerous?" Storm asked. "If the contents of that vehicle were to fall into the wrong hands, it would be disastrous for all mankind." Fury answered. "Exactly what are you developing that could threaten the entire planet?" Iron Man asked. "That's classified." Fury stated. "So it's all right for us to save the vehicle, we just can't know what's gong on there?" Iron Man asked. "Correct. Now if I may continue." Fury responded. "The team's mission will be to sneak onboard the Omega and locate Dugan. He should be able to bring you up to speed on the situation. Any questions?" Fury explained before asking, to a reception of silence. "All right, good luck." Fury then concluded before Terence gained control of his team.
"We made it, Wyatt. We're onboard the Omega Base." Terence said after appearing onboard the base. "Good. One thing I want to point out, you now have a S.H.I.E.L.D. Port. It's an experimental device that will let you transport instantly back to headquarters whenever you want." Wyatt responded. "That should come in handy. We'll be sure to try it out soon." Terence admitted. "Okay, good luck in there. Let me know when you want to leave. Wyatt, out." Wyatt answered before Fury chimed in. "Team, satellite recon shows the Omega Base is now on a collision course with Vondrak Dam. Thousands of lives are now in danger. You must stop the Omega at all costs. Fury, out." he said. "This just keeps getting better. Let's locate Dum Dum Dugan. Hopefully he can fill us in on what's happening." Terence said before starting his trek through the Omega. But it wasn't long before Terence met with Dum Dum Dugan himself. "Wolverine, never thought I'd be so glad to see your ugly face." Dugan said. "You keep up with all this sweet talk, Dugan, and you're gonna make me blush. Now what's the story here?" Wolverine asked. "A knockout gas was spread through the ventilation system of the base. I woke up to Dr. Doom demanding I bring Colonel Fury here or he'd ram the Omega into Vondrak Dam." Dugan explained. "Well the tin man must have forgotten his part of the bargain, cause the base is headed straight for that dam." Wolverine said. "I should have known. It was stupid of me to believe him." Dugan said, clearly distressed that he was duped. "Don't sweat it. If it weren't for your message, we wouldn't have come at all. Then where'd everyone be?" Wolverine rationalized. "I suppose you're right. But our time's running out. Get me to the primary engineering control room and I'll stop the Omega before it can do any damage." Dugan said before the team made their way forward.
However, they found that the path to the primary engineering control room was guarded by multiple troopers from the criminal organization knows as A.I.M., short for Advanced Idea Mechanics. "Great, where you find A.I.M., you find their leader and their greatest weapon. Which means that Doom is working alongside MODOK, the Mental Organism Deisgned Only for Killing." Terence thought to himself as he attacked the A.I.M. troopers. But he soon found his troubles were worse than just an A.I.M. invasion, because the base was also overrun with giants, but what they were other than giants, he had no idea. Soon, he found himself at the foot of the treads that made the Omega move. "Team, I just had a thought. The section we're in contains the primary drive train. If you could disable it, the Omega Base would be forced to switch to the secondary drive." Dugan explained. "So would that make a difference?" Ternece asked. "Not much, but it'd give you more time to reach the top of the base." Dugan answered. "Okay, we'll see what we can do. Thanks, Dugan." Terence said before he set about destroying part of the primary drive train. As he went on, he started to wonder. "Could those giants that I've seen here and there around here be the results of the latest Super Soldier Serum?" he pondered. Regardless, Terence got Dugan to the primary engineering control room, only to find it trashed. "Curse that infernal Doom. I can't do anything from this control room." Dugan said with frustration. "Then what can we do? We have to stop the Omega Base somehow." Ternece pondered. "Not to worry. There's a control room just ahead. Hopefully Doom left it alone. Get me there and we should be fine." Dugan revealed, bringing a sigh of relief to Terence before they continued on.
Further ahead, Terence ran into the first actual villain he had seen in the base, an old enemy of Iron Man named Valentin Shatalov, aka Crimson Dynamo. "Yes...this is better than I could have hoped - my old adversary, Iron Man." Dynamo said with glee. "Glad to see you remember me, Crimson Dynamo. It's been a while since I kicked your tin-plated butt." Iron Man responded. "You will not defeat me this time. My new battlesuit is vastly superior to your armor." Dynamo retorted. "Could have fooled me. You look like something from the early 1960's." Iron Man responded. "Mock me while you still can draw breath, Iron Man. Soon you will be silenced forever." Dynamo said as the fight began. Of course, the fight went just about as well as one would expect, very well. After wards, Terence took out the rest of the primary drive train. "Dugan, we did it! The drive train is down." Terence said. "Good. The base just switched into secondary drive so our speed has decreased." Dugan responded. "Will this keep the base from destroying the dam?" Terence asked. "No, but it gives you a little more time to stop the Omega Base." Dugan answered. "Guess we'd better get moving." Terence said before doing so, right into the secondary engineering control room. "Well done, Team. Now let's see about stopping this behemoth." Dugan said, before realizing something was wrong. "Blast it. All controls have been locked down, except those on the upper bridge." Dugan said, once again frustrated. "There's nothing you can do?" Terence asked. "Correct. We'll have to reach the top deck and stop the Omega Base from there." Dugan answered. "Okay, but you stay here, Dugan. We'll need you to use the security cameras to see what's in store for us." Terence responded. "Sounds like a plan. Good luck." Dugan said before Terence set off.
After fighting more A.I.M. troopers and Super Soldiers, Terence realized something bad. "Dugan, all elevators and doors are locked down. How can we get to the top of the base?" Terence asked. "The only route left is along the exterior of the Omega." Dugan answered. "We have to travel along the outside of a moving base? This should be fun." Terence said, jokingly, before continuing on. Once outside, Terence heard the sounds of a helicopter. "Hey, it sounds like a helicopter is coming this way. Colonel Fury must have sent troops to help us out." Terence said, hoping that he was right. However, the helicopter attacked them instead. "On second thought, I don't think Fury sent that helicopter. Let's keep moving!" Terence said after realizing the chopper was A.I.M. instead of S.H.I.E.L.D. . After fighting through A.I.M. troops and Super Soldiers, and avoiding plenty of missile fire from the A.I.M. chopper, Terence made it back inside the base. "Dugan, we're on a lab level. Where to now?" Terence asked. "Before you go to the top, we got a couple of new concerns you might want to address." Dugan answered. "What do you mean?" Terence asked. "Security shows some very sensitive labs have been broken into. One lab contains a device known as the Neural Inhibitor and another has plans that could be used to upgrade Ultron." Dugan answered. "Thanks, Dugan. We'll see if there's something we can do." Terence responded before moving into a room that piqued his intrest. "What in the world is going on here? And why are all these creatures listed as 'volunteer'?" Terence asked before realizing that they may be test subjects of the latest version of the Super Soldier Serum, proving what he thought before about the giants he fought. Nevertheless, Terence continued on.
Further on, Terence entered the lab containing what he believed was the Neural Inhibitor, but also came across an old enemy he faced in that past two games, Mysterio. "Mysterio, step away from the Neural Inhibitor." Terence ordered. "So, the reports were right. There is a team of superheroes on the Omega Base. Well, let's see if this doesn't slow you down." Mysterio said before cranking up the power of the device to dangerous levels. "Watch out! It's been set to overload!" Terence called out as the device overloaded and blew up. "Uh-oh. That device was the only thing keeping those giants unconscious." Terence said with worry as the Super Soldiers regained consciousness, broke out of their glass tubes and went on the attack. After taking them out, Terence continued on before hearing a voice. "Hey! Can anybody hear me? I'm stuck in this lab!" said the voice. "Someone's in trouble. We have to help them out." Terence said as he made his way into the lab and found a scientist named Dr. Bruce Banner. "Am I glad to see you. What the heck is going on around here? There was a huge explosion and then I couldn't open the door." Bruce said. "The Masters of Evil have attacked the Omega Base, Dr. Banner. Are you alright?" Terence responded. "I'm fine. I just hope...wait a minute, did you say the Omega is under attack?" Bruce responded, clearly shocked that the base was being attacked. "Yes, they've commandeered the base and have it set on a collision course with Vondrak dam." Terence explained. "We have to stop it. If that dam is destroyed, thousands of people will be killed in the flood." Bruce said with urgence. "We will, but what do you know about the giants that are running around here?" Terence responded, wondering if his assumption about the giants was right. "Those must be the results of the Super Soldier experiment I've heard about. Scientists are attempting to recreate the experiment that gave Captain America his strength. So far, apparently all they've created are those giants you've seen." Bruce explained, confirming Terence's hypothesis. Suddenly, Dugan chimed in on the radio. "Team, you must be making the Masters of Evil nervous. My security panel shows a gamma bomb has just been activated. You've got to shut it down or all life in a 2 mile radius will be destroyed." Dugan said. "We're really not trained to handle something that technical, Dugan." Terence responded. "It just so happens I'm kind of a specialist on gamma bombs. Take me to the primary lab and I'll see what I can do." Bruce said before Terence set on his way.
However, outside the lab... "Dr. Banner, this could be a trap. Why don't you hag back here while we check the lab?" Terence asked with caution before heading in. After taking out the ambush of Super Soldiers, Dr. Banner came in and checked out the bomb. "It figures...they've damaged the shutoff. We have to find the secondary lab and reestablish the safety interlock." Bruce said with frustrated determination. "Okay, Dr. Banner. We'll find the lab. Stay here where it's safe." Terence responded before setting off. Once all the resistance protecting the lab had been dealt with, Terence reestablished the safety interlock on the gamma bomb. "Dr. Banner, we reestablished the security interlock." Terence said to Bruce via radio. "Now let me see if...yes. I was able to shut down the gamma bomb. We're safe." Bruce said proudly, bringing a sigh of relief to Terence. "That was close. Had that sucker detonted, everything within a 2 mile radius would have been destroyed." Dugan chimed in. "Dr. Banner, stay where you are and lock the door. We're going on without you to stop the Omega Base from crashing into the dam." Terence said. "Sounds good to me. I'm no superhero." Banner responded before Terence headed off, even though he knew that it was a matter of time before Banner would become a superhero because of a gamma bomb, similiar to what he just shut down, blowing up in his face.
Soon, Terence found himself in another lab, this time with Mysterio in it. "Mysterio..jeez it's good to see you. Still got a fish bowl for a head I see." Spider-Man said as soon as he saw his old foe. "Spider-Man, do you always have to be a half-wit?" Mysterio asked, annoyed. "Ooo, now that hurt. And speaking of getting hurt, step away from those plans before I have to get medieval on you." Spidey answered. "You idiot. Why do you think S.H.I.E.L.D. has plans for Ultron?" Mysterio asked. "I thought everyone had 'em. I got some this morning in a box of cereal." Spidey answered, comically. "These plans are upgrades. The 'good guys' want to capture Ultron so they can rewrite his programming and turn him into a S.H.I.E.L.D. weapon." Mysterio explained. "That's impossible. Ultron is sentient - reporgramming him is illegal." Spidey responded. "Yes, it is. But all I care about are these plans. Ultron wants them for the weapon upgrades." Mysterio said. "If your Ultron gets weapon upgrades, than my Ultron will want weapon upgades and that just won't do." Spidey quipped. "I've heard enough of your babbling!" Mysterio snapped before creating two copies of himself to help him fight Terence. However, Terence was able to find the real Mysterio and take him out before reporting the news to Dugan. "Dugan, we found Mysterio trying to steal the Ultron upgrades." he said. "Did you stop him?" Dugan asked. "Yes, but he didn't go quietly." Terence answered. "No. I don't imagine he did. Nice job." Dugan said, glad that Terry got the job done before the young hero ended up finding a locker room connected with the Super Soldier project. "This is insane. How can S.H.I.E.L.D. possibly generate an army using the new Super Soldier serum? All it does is create monsters! This is a disgrace to the people who worked on the original serum." Captain America said, clearly unhappy that S.H.I.E.L.D. was trying to continue working on a version of the same serum that gave him his strength when it was clearly a failure.
Regardless, Terence moved on to the exterior elevator to the roof. "It's going to be a few minutes before we reach the top of the Omega Base. Now would be a good time to take a breather." Terence said, clearly looking to rest, but someone else had other plans in mind, that someone being MODOK himself. "A.I.M. troopers, the exterior elevator to the roof has been activated by intruders. All available soldiers are to attack at once!" he ordered. "So much for that breather. Get ready for a fight, team." Terence said before A.I.M. troopers came in and went on the attack, with a few bombs thrown in for good measure, but Terence managed to beat them and defuse the bombs. Once the elevators stopped, Terence entered a room to his left and found Super Soldiers attacking computer. "Those Super Soldiers are trying to destroy that console. We should stop them; it might contain valuable research." Terence rationalized before taking them down. As Terence made his way to the next elevator to the roof, little did he know that that one random act of bravery would have ramifications far later on. After boarding another elevator to the roof, more A.I.M. troopers and super soldiers showed up, but Terence cleared them out. "That seems to be the last of them. But get ready. I'm sure they'll have more surprises waiting for us at the top." Terence said to his AI controlled teammates. Soon, the elevator stopped and Terence exited onto the top deck where he found a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent by a destroyed anti-aircraft gun.
"Watch out. There's an A.I.M. helicopter patrolling the deck. I tried to take it out with this anti-aircraft fun but it's just too fast." the agent said. "Is there another anti-aircraft gun that we can use?" Terence asked. "Yea, at the other end of the deck. But you can't seriously think you're going to take that chopper out." the agent answered. "First we need to find that anti-aircraft gun, then we'll worry about the chopper." Terence responded before making his way across the deck, taking out A.I.M. gaurds, including little combat robots called reavers, along the way. He soon came across another S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. "Boy, am I glad to see you guys. I've been trying to unlock the door to the bridge, but a helicopter keeps strafing the deck. Can you give me a hand?" the agent asked. "Sure. We'll use that anti-aircraft gun to take out anything that threatens you." Terence answered. "Sounds like a plan. All I ask is that you take the helicopter out quick. I don't think I'm going to last long out in the open." the agent said. "Don't worry. We'll protect you." Terence responded before getting to work. With only 2 seconds to spare out of the 44 seconds originally on the clock, Terence took down the helicopter, allowing the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent to get the door open. "Got it! The door to the bridge is open. Thanks for the assist. I would've been Swiss cheese if you hadn't takent that helicopter out." he said. "Why don't you stay here? We'll check out the bridge. There's no telling what traps A.I.M. might have waiting in there." Terence suggested. "You'll get no argument from me. I've had enought excitement for one day." the agent answered before Terence moved on.
After fighting through the final remnants of resistance leading to the bridge, Terence and his team reached the bridge and found MODOK. But as they approached, they found themselves suddenly immobile. "What's this? We're frozen in place!" Terence said in shock. "That would be due to the entropy I've developed. You will remain immobile for as long as I hold this button." MODOK explained. "MODOK, set us free. If the Omega Base slams into the dam, thousands of innocent lives will be lost." Terence demanded. "Your pleas amuse me. I tell you waht, let's have a contest. But instead of brawn, how about a test of brains?" MODOK proposed. "We don't have time for this insantiy." Terence responded. "I'm afraid you have no other options. Now to keep things interesting, you'll recieve an electical shock for every incorrect answer you give. Let's begin, shall we?" MODOK retorted. "Alright, MODOK, let's see how my brain stacks up to yours." Terence said to himself. "What is the atomic symbold for gold?" MODOK asked. "Au." Terence answered, allowing him to move forward, only to be frozen again. "A lucky guess." MODOK said, clearly not happy. "What percentage of the Earth's atmosphere is oxygen?" MODOK asked. "21 percent!" Terence answered, once again allowing him to move forward. "That's impossible! Somehow you're cheating!" MODOK said in shock before freezing him again. "Which of the following is not a geological period of the Earth? Jurassic, Cretaceous, Triassic, or Neoprene?" MODOK asked. "That's a no-brainer! Neoprene is NOT a geological period of the Earth!" Terence said confidently as he was finally freed. "This is inconceivable! You're not that intelligent!" MODOK shouted. "We've answered your questions correctly! We're free!" Terence said with pride. "The deal is off! You tricked me somehow! Guards, attack!" MODOK bellowed before the fight began.
The guards were easily dispatched, and then MODOK himself soon followed. "With MODOK out of the way, we can stop the Omega Base. Let's go!" Terence said before doing so. "You did it! You stopped the Omega Base! Well done." Dugan said. "No problem, Dugan. We stop huge mobile laboratories that are about to destroy dams all the time." Terence responded, clearly trying to be like Spider-Man. "Guys, that was one for the books. But there's no time to relax. Colonel Fury wants you back at Stark Tower Immediately. Stay where you are and I'll pick you up in the Quinjet." Wyatt soon said over the radio. And in no time, Terence was back in Stark Tower. Once there, Terence was spoken to by Nick Fury. "You did a good job on the Omega Base, team. You saved thousands of lives and billions of dollars in S.H.I.E.L.D. equipment." he said. "Did the Masters of Evil steal anythig other than the Super Soldier Serum?" Ternece asked. "Yes, a device known as the Mutant Amplifier. It magnifies a mutant's natural powers." Fury answered. "So what's our next move?" Terence asked. "Until we locate Doom's base, nothing. And since all we're doing is cooling our heels, I want you to investigate a report that there's a riot taking place in Atlantis. See Wyatt Wingfoot and he'll take you to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Atlantis outpost. Or if you'd like more information, talk to the Black Widow." Fury answered.
After getting more information, including learning that the attack on the helicarrier was just a diversion so that Doom's forces could attack the Omega Base and learning more about the Mutant Amplifier, Terence soon discovered that there was another part of the tower. Right behind the waterfall was a hidden door, which opened to Tony Stark's Iron Man lab, which was where Tony worked on new versions of his suit of armor. After meeting with Tony's butler, Edwin Jarvis, he met with a stranger that snuck their way in. "Who are you and how'd you get in here?" Terence asked. "Uh, yeah, the name's Jack Hammer. But you can call me Weasel. Everyone does. And don't worry. I came in through the back. No one saw me." he answered. "What do you want?" Terence asked. "Wyatt Wingfoot gave me a damaged laptop. Said you heroes wanted to know what data was on it." Weasel answered. "Did you find anything out?" Terence asked. "Yeah. That laptop holds security information for a building called 'The Imperium'." Weasel explaiend. "What's The Imperium?" Terence asked. "I can find out, but you'll have to get me the password into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s priority files. There's three possibilities: Jacob Fury, Baron Strucker or Gabriel Jones. Talk to Vision, he'll be able to help." Weasel responded. And soon, after talking to Vision, Black Widow and Fury about each of those three men. Terence relayed the password to Weasel, which was Gabriel Jones, the name of one of Nick Fury's top advisors and his former brother in arms as part of the Howling Commandos. Afterwards, Terence headed off to Wyatt and lost control again before finding himself in a cutscene at the Atlantis outpost.
"Listen up, people. We've been sent here to investigate a situation in Atlantis." Cap said. "What kinda 'situation' we talkin' about here, Cap?" Wolverine asked. "An hour ago, Namorita sent a message saying a riot's taking place. A crowd broke into the throne room of Atlantis and dragged Namor off his throne." Cap explained. "Why would the Atlanteans riot? They love Namor." Elektra pondered. "I don't know. Namorita had to stop transmitting before she could give any details." Cap answered. "How are we to handle a mission in the undersea conditions of Atlantis?" Thor asked. "There's nano-technology at this outpost that will let us breath and move normally through the water. I want to remind you the Atlanteans aren't exactly big fans of us surface dwellers." Cap explained. "What if they become violent?" Elektra asked. "Defend yourselves, we have to help Namor any way we can. He's a valuable ally. That's it. Let's be careful out there." Cap responded before the cutscene ended. "We've made it to the S.H.I.E.L.D. outpost, Colonel Fury." Terence said. "Good. Locate the nano-chambers and activate them. Once the nanites are in your bloodstream, you're free to enter the water." Fury responded. Soon, the operation was complete and the nanites became active. "Okay. I guess we're ready to visit Atlantis now." Terence said as he made his way into dive chamber and into the water, only to be met with Atlantean guards.
"Look! Surface dwellers seek to invade our home!" one of them shouted. "Wait! Stop! We don't want to fight you. We're here to help Namor." Terence explained. "Yes... Namor is the friend of the surface dwellers. And for that, he had to pay. And now you will, too!" one of the guards responded before Terence was forced to defend himself. After taking care of the guards, he soon came across Namor. "There's Namor! He's stuck in that bubble of air. We'll have to get him out of there before he dies! But first we have to take care of the guards around him" Terence said before doing so. Afterwards, he freed Namor just as his cousin, Namorita, showed up. "Namor, are you alright?" Terence asked. "Begone! I require no aid. My people are under some type of mind control. I must save them." Namor responded. "Namor, you have to rest. Here, take this medicine." Namorita said as she gave him something that knocked him unconscious. "Don't worry. The drug only rendered him unconscious. He's in no condition to fight." Namorita soon said. "We agree. He's in pretty bad shape." Terence responded. "If you went to the ancient Temple of Negrete, you'd find seaweed I can use to heal Namor." Namorita suggested. "We'l go if there's time. But first, why are the Atlanteans acting so strangely?" Terence pondered. "My people are being brainwashed by devices called Sonic Emitters. It's part of Attuma's scheme to steal the throne from my cousin." Namorita answered. "Who's Attuma?" Terence asked. "He's a barbarian chief who's always thought he was destined to conquer Atlantis. Looks like he might be right." Namorita answered, worried. "You keep an eye on Namor. We'll take care of the Sonic Emitters and get rid of Attuma." Terence said before heading off to the temple.
"Namorita, we've reached the Temple of Negrete. It doesn't look like we're going to be very warmly welcomed." Terence said over the radio once he arrived in said temple. "You've got that right. The guardians are trainedto protect the temple against all invaders, surface dwellers in particular." Namorita confirmed. "What are we looking for inside?" Terence asked. "You need to find an extremely rare plant known as Walek seaweed. It's very valuable and will be well protected." Namorita answered. "Okay. We'll be in touch, Namorita." Terence responded before heading further into the temple. Inside a clam, after taking out some of the guards, Terence came across a bead. "Namorita, we just found some type of bead. Is it valuable?" Terence asked. "That is an Eye of Negrete. Take it. The priests of the temple use them to open locks." Namorita answered. "Great, this and more like it could really come in handy." Terence said to himself before he continued to explore the temple for the Walek seaweed needed to heal Namor. Soon, he came across a locked door with a statue of either Neptune facing it. "Hmm, there's two indentations in the base of this statue. If we can find what goes in there, maybe that will activate some type of mechanism." Terence said to himself as he put down the Eye of Negrete he found. "Looks like the base of this statue takes two Eyes of Negrete. We better go find the other one." Terence said as he went back to look for it. After fightning several guards, he did find it, along with the tip of a trident. After placing the eyes and the trident tip, the trident itself fires a blast of energy that destroys the door. Soon, Terence found the seaweed. "Namorita, we've got the Walek seaweed you wanted for Namor." Terence said over the radio. "Good. Get back here fast; that seaweed doesn't last long after it's picked." Namorita responded. "But it's going to take a while to swim back." Terence said, knowing that he might not be able to swim all the way back to Namor. "Let me open up a whirlpool for you. It'll bring you right back to my location." Namorita said before said whirlpool appeared.
Terence headed through the whirlpool and approached Namorita. "Namorita, here's the ingredient you asked for. How's Namor?" Invisible Woman asked. "He'll be much better now that I have this." Namorita answered. Soon, Namor is back to his feet. "What has happened? And what are you doing here, Susan Richards?" Namor asked. "We came to help you, Namor. Your old enemy, Attuma, has stolen your throne and enslaved Atlantis." Sue explained. "Though I am pleased to see you, I have no need for your help. I am quite capable of dealing with Attuma on my own." Namor said. "You're still very weak. Please, just this once, let us help you." Sue said compassionately. "Atlantis is my responsibility. I'll not let outsiders protect her." Namor responded, defiantly. "We've been friends a long time, Namor. Trust me when I say that you need to rest. Let us handle Attuma." Sue said. "I do value your council, Susan, for you are as wise as you are beautiful. And though I am loath to admit it, I am not at the peak of my strength." Namor admitted. "Very well, I will allow it. Once again, Susan, you have proven to be one of the few surface dwellers I can consider a friend. Perhaps there is someway I can thank you?" he continued. "You don't have to thank me, Namor; just be sure to get some rest. Come on, team, let's find Attuma and set Atlantis free." Sue responded before Terence took back control and headed towards Namor's palace, unaware that by rescuing Namor, he changed the course of history betweem Namor and the people of the surface for the better.
"You're near the Sonic Emitters. They're what's making the Atlanteans so violent. Be very careful now, Attuma would not leave the devices unguarded." Namorita said over the radio. "Thanks, Namorita. We'll keep our eyes open." Terence responded as he headed forward. A little ways on, Terence did find two characters guarding one of the Sonic Emitters. "I believe these surface dwellers intend on destroying the Sonic Emitters, Krang." said one of them. "Then these humans are as foolish as they are weak, my cousin. They stand no chance against our combined might." Krang responded. "True, but I do savor a chance for battle. I grow bored guarding these devices." Krang's cousin, named Byrrah, admitted. "As do I. But acting as guards has put us in Attuma's good graces. And that puts us near the throne." Krang pointed out. "And down the road, who is to say what might happen to King Attuma? Eh, cousin?" Byrrah suggested. "My feelings exactly. Now let us dispose of these interlopers and prove to Attuma just how 'trustworthy' we are." Krang concurred before the fight began. Though Krang was though to be a powerful warlord, neither he nor Byrrah stodd a chance against Terence and his team of heroes. After helping an Atlantean trapped in a clam in exchange for the combination to a safe at the sight of a sunken submarine, Terence destroyed the last of the Sonic Emitters. "Namorita, we've destroyed the last of the Sonic Emitters. What now?" Terence asked. "Good, with the Sonic Emitters destroyed, my people will eventually return to normal. Now you should get to the throne room of Atlantis as fast as you can." Namorita answered. "Is that where Attuma's at?" Terence asked. "Yes, and who knows what he'll do when he find out you're ruining his plans?" Namorita answered. "Okay, we're on our way. Thanks, Namorita." Terence responded before heading towards the throne room.
Once inside, he took out multiple guards and found Attuma with another enemy of Atlantis, the carnivorous Tiger Shark, aka Todd Arliss. "Look, Attuma. These must be the ones who've been causing you so much trouble." Tiger Shark pointed out when they spotted Terence and his team. "Indeed. And they will pay for their transgressions." Attuma concured. "Attuma, you aren't going to succeed. Namor is free." Terence stated. "Your devotion to Namor is pitiful, surface dwellers. He has lost and, as foretold in the Atlantean Chronicles, I will be the ruler of Atlantis." Attuma responded. "Don't worry about these idiots, Attuma. Your loyal minions are more than happy to take care of them." Tiger Shark said before the two swam off to the throne room. After fighting through more brainwashed Atlanteans and placing two Eyes of Negrete in order to open the doorway to the throne room, Terence confronted Attuma and Tiger Shark. "Your reign is over, Attuma. Give up." Terence demanded. "How dare you enter my throne room, surface dwellers. Kneel before the King of Atlantis!" Attuma responded. "Namor is the true ruler of Atlantis." Terence rebuttled. "Fools! You will pay for your insolence!" Attuma shouted. "Let me teach them a lesson, Attuma." Tiger Shark said, ready for battle. "No, we will work together, Tiger Shark. And we will make them pay dearly for their trangressions against the King of Atlantis!" Attuma responded before they began to fight Terence and his team. However, with some clever whirlpool manipulating, the two were defeated. "You couldn't have done this alone. Who gave you those Sonic Emitters?" Terence pondered. "I will tell you nothing!" Attuma said defiantly. "Fine then. We'll let the Atlanteans in here." Terence responded, and he wasn't bluffing. "Okay, okay, I'll talk!" Tiger Shark said, clearly worried. "Tiger Shark!" Attuma bellowed, clearly not happy about being betrayed. "I'm not about to face the Atlanteans after what we did. It was the Masters of Evil. They helped Attuma in return for letting them take whatever they wanted from the catacombs." Tiger Shark explained. "Are they still in the catacombs?" Terence asked. "Probably. There's a lot there to search through." Tiger Shark answered. "We better go check it out." Terence said before proceeding down to said catacombs.
After fighting through multiple guards, Terence finally made it to the catacombs. And to his surprise, there was someone down there with him. That someone being Iron Man's archenemy, Mandarin. "Finally, my friends, it appears your luck has run out. I trust you're not the only team Colonel Fury has attempting to stop the Masters of Evil?" he said. "What are you doing here, Mandarin?" Terence asked. "Attuma allowed me free reign of the catacombs in return for the Sonic Emitters. And I just now located our prize - the Tome of Asarius." Madarin answered. "What do you want that for?" Terence asked. "I'm sorry, but I have no time for questions. I must be on my way to the Valley of Spirits. But before I go, allow me to summon a little entertainment for you. It's the least I can do." Mandarin answered before blowing into a conch shell horn and swimming away afterwards. From the hole in the middle of the room rose a four limbed monster called the Kraken. "Great. I have to fight this thing? Guess the Masters of Evil really don't want me to leave." Terence said to himself before proceeding to battle the beast. Early on, Terence got the bright idea to make the Kraken attack the pillars, then lure it towards each one and make the beast topple each one on top of it. After doing so four times, the monster was finally defeated. "We did it, Namorita. Attuma is defeated and the Masters of Evil are gone." Terence said to her over the radio. "Many thanks. Atlantis owes you a debt of gratitude. And Namor would like to say something." Namorita responded. "Surface dwellers...I'll have you know I was perfectly capable of handling the situation alone." Namor said, still defiant as ever. "We just wanted to help out, Namor." Terence responded. "Hmm, yes, well you did. So I suppose I should thank you. You now have my permission to leave Atlantis." Namor admitted. Soon, Terence did leave and found himself back in Stark Tower.
"You did a good job in Atlantis. Who knows, Atlanteans may even start to tolerate us surface dwellers." Fury spoke. "But Mandarin was able toe steal the Tome of Asarius." Terence pointed out. "And that's why your next top is his palace in the Valley of Spirits." Fury responded. "We're going to China?" Terence asked. "Yes. I want you to 'discuss' things with Mandarin. Find out what the Masters of Evil are planning. Talk to Black Widow for additional information. Or see Mr. Wingfoot if you're ready to go now." Fury answered. But before Terence left, hegot a side mission to collect the latest schematics on Mandarn's personal robot warrior, Ultimo, and then found out more about what was on the S.H.I.E.L.D. laptop from the helicarrier from Weasel. "That password you gave me worked like a charm. I had no problems getting into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s database." he said once Terence met up with him in the Iron Man lab. "Glad to hear it. Did you dig up any useful information?" Terence asked. "You are gonna love this. The Imperium...it's a S.H.I.E.L.D. think tank. You know, one of those places where they get geniuses together." Weasel answered. "Any idea what The Imperium think tank is for?" Terence asked. "No. But I can find out by hacking into the S.H.I.E.L.D. priority database. But I need help from one of the few guys who can crack that code: C.B. Cebulski or a guy named Beroge." Weasel answered. "So why don't you ask them?" Terence asked. "I need you to talk to Hank Pym and find out which of those two guys I can trust." Weasel answered. And so, after learning from both Hank and Vision about both men, the former being a former MIT student in computer sciences that Hank knew before he became a hacker, hacked into the financial system of a major electric company on a dare and gave everyone fifty cents off their next bill and didn't give the names of his fellow hackers when faced with potential jail time, and the latter being a computer criminal from Canada, wanted in several countries for ID theft, and a backstabber who gave the names of his accomplices last time he was captured in exchange for his freedom, Terence returned to Weasel and told him that C.B. was the man he could go to. Afterwards, Terence headed on to his next mission, but not before losing control and finding himself in the throne room of none other than Dr. Doom himself, standing before three of his most trusted partners; Ultron, Thor's brother Loki, and Amora, aka the Enchantress.
"Loki, are you certain your ploy in Atlantis worked?" Doom asked. "My good Doctor, how could you doubt the god of mischief? My performance as Mandarin was flawless. Rest assured, the heroes will travel to the Valley of Spirits." Loki answered. "I wonder who will be the worse for this confrontation? The heroes or Mandarin?" Enchantress pondered. "It matters not so long as one of them pays the ultimate price." Ultron answered. "The traitorous Mandarin will most likely meet his demise, but not without destroying several of Fury's lackeys first." Doom pointed out. "Indeed." Loki agreed. "I would find it most enjoyable if my dear brother Thor were to fall in battle. Long has he been a thorn in my side." he added before looking to Enchantress. "Oh, don't look so sad, Enchantress. When our ultimate plan is realized, you will find others more worthy of your attention than Thor." Loki said to her. "I should hope so, Loki." Enchantress answered. "Still, it saddens me that Thor must die. He is truly a god to be admired." she added, lovingly. "That pompous fool's overdeveloped physique is nothing compared to my coniving intellect! How I have longed to crush his self-righteous countenance beneath my booted heel." Loki responded, clearly still letting his sibling rivalry with Thor drive him. "Silence! All of you!" Doom bellowed. "My scanners show the heroes are in the Valley of Spirits. We have set the stage and the players have arrived, now let us watch and see who will survive this tale of deception." he added before Terence found himself in Madarin's palace.
"We've arrived at Mandarin's palace, Colonel Fury. All's quiet...let's hope it stays that way." Storm said. "That's good to hear, Storm. Now all you have to do is track down Mandarin and ask him about the Masters of Evil." Fury responded. "Tracking him down shouldn't be a problem. But living long enough to ask him questions might be a little difficult." Storm said. "Storm, I didn't think anything scared you." Fury said, sensing what he thought was a subtle tone of fear in her voice. "I'm not frightened, Colonel, just cautious. I've faced Mandarin's rings of power before." Storm responded. "I hear you, Storm, but I have every confidence you'll succeed. You have to find out what Doom's planning next. Fury, out." Fury said. "All right, my friends. You heard the Colonel. Let's see if we can locate Mandarin." Storm said before Terence regained control and started fighting against Shaolin monks and warriors made of clay. After some exploring, Terence came across a being that had a massive body, tail and wings. "Great, looks like I just found the monstrous android known as Dragonman." Terence said to himself before he started fighting it. It wasn't easy at all, considering that it could breath fire, much like a dragon. But once it was beat, Terence continued on until he met a massive robot. "Fools! How dare you enter the Valley of Spirits uninvited! You shall pay for this mistake with your lives." said the robot, clearly revealing that it was Mandarin speaking for and through the metal giant, which turned out to Ultimo. "Mandarin, we saw you in Atlantis. Tell us what the Masters of Evil are up to." Terence ordered. "What are you talking about? I have no time for your senseless prattle. Ultimo will deal with you!" Mandarin responded before the fight began.
The battle against Mandarin's mighty robot proved to be difficult, but it soon fell. Terence soon found the way into the next part of the palace, but it was locked. That is, until after a fight with more of Mandarin's guards. Soon, Terence entered another part of the palace and came across his secondary objective. "Look! These must be the Ultimo schematics Fury wanted, we should give them to him once we return to Stark Tower." Terence said before continuing on. Soon, he came across his next challenge, Grey Gargoyle, aka Paul Pierre Duval. "I would never have thought it possible that an enemy would venture so far into Mandarin's palace. You survived Ultimo and Dragon Man...that is impressive." he said, truly impressed. "Yeah, we're just full of surprises." Terence responded, cockily. "I too have my share of surprises, for I am the Grey Gargoyle, and with but a touch, I can turn you to stone." Gargoyle then said, revealing his power. "Look, we don't want to fight you. We just want to find Mandarin." Terence said, trying to reason with him. "What you want is of no importance, my friend. You have gone too far and now you must pay the penalty, with your life." Gargoyle responded, clearly not willing to listen to reason. In no time, the fight was on. Due to his stone body, Grey Gargoyle proved to be a tough opponent, but he did eventually fall. "I don't know why we were concerned about this fight. Grey Gargoyle wasn't so hard. Let's keep looking for Mandarin." Terence said before moving on. However, he soon met an old, metallic face once more.
"So, still you persist in this foolish quest of attacking me in my palace? Very well then, I will unleash my latest creation: The Ultimo Mark 2." Mandarin spoke, once again through the Ultimo robot. "A new version of Ultimo?" Terence asked, who thought for sure he took down the only Ultimo in the palace. "Correct. Its enriched titanium casing is laced with vibranium, and the servo-motors are 300 percent stronger than the previous model. So you see, it will be quite impossible for you to destroy this robot." Mandarin answered. "That's what you think. Bring it on, Mandarin. We'll take this toy of yours apart in no time." Terence retorted before Ultimo 2 went on the attack. Its new features did make it stronger than the first one, but after some work, Ultimo 2 finally fell. After more exploring, Terence came across none other than the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Dr. Strange, facing off against Mandarin's forces. "Look! There's Dr. Strange and he's in the middle of a battle. Let's give him a hand." Terence told his team before helping out Strange. "Greetings, my friends. It is most fortuitous that you chose to arrive when you did. Mandarin's minions were becoming quite bothersome." Dr. Strange said after the guards were dealt with. "Don't mention it, Dr. Strange. But what are you doing here in Mandarin's palace?" Terence responded. "A precious magical item, known as the Orb of Agamotto, was stolen from me. I managed to track it to this location. I do not know how Mandarin intends to use it, but I must retrieve the Orb immediately." Strange answered. "Do you need a hand? We're looking for Mandarin ourselves." Terence said. "Splendid. Let's team up and see what we can find, shall we?" Strange responded. Soon, the group set off to search for the Orb, until they finally found it. "Very well done, my friends. We've located the Orb. In return for aiding me, I will now make myself available to join your team should you require my talents." Strange said, very grateful for the help. "Thanks, Dr. Strange. It's good to know we have the Sorcerer Superme on our side." Terence responded before Strange vanished and he headed on to face Mandarin.
Soon, Terence found himself face to face with Mandarin himself in his court. "You may have defeated those incompetent louts throughout my palace, but now you will face the power of the Mandarin." he declared. "Your alien technology doesn't scare us." Terence retorted, confidently. "You shall soon learn the foolishness of such bravado. My rings of power will annihilate you!" Mandarin responded. "Bring it on, Mandarin." Terence said with confidence as the fight began. Thanks to his rings of power, Mandarin's attacks were vast and varied. After a bit, Mandarin retreated into one of the upper areas of the room. "What's the matter, Mandarin? Are we too much for you?" Ternece asked. "Not at all, I merely have a new experiment I'd like to test in a real world situation. Allow me to introduce my latest creations. I think they'll be quite 'attracted' to you." Mandarin responded with a laugh as robotic insects came in, which could also self-destruct when close enough, but they were quickly dispatched before they could go boom. "It would appear my creations aren't enough of a challenge for you. A pity, really. But fear not. My prototypes of Ultimo Mark 3 have more than enough fire power to make short work of you. Do enjoy them...for as long as you survive." Mandarin said as smaller versions of Ultimo appeared. "Great, Ultimo that can stand at the same height as me." Terence said to himself. "We can't teleport in as long as those Ultimos are in the room. There has to be some way to blow them up." Terence said after finding that every time he used one of the glowing pads, an Ultimo grabbed him and teleported him out. Then, he got an idea when he saw one of the exploding robo-bugs. "That's it! If I can lure those boom bugs to the teleporter pads, I can make them destroy the Ultimos in each room and allow me to get to Mandarin!" Terence said with glee. After executing the idea successfully, Mandarin finally conceded.
"All right, Mandarin, now that we have your attention, tell us what the Masters of Evil are planning." Terence ordered. "I left Doom's band of miscreants weeks ago after I attempted to become their leader. Needless to say, Doom took offense to that and forced me out." Mandarin responded. "So who was that we saw in Atlantis?" Terence asked. "Most likely it was that pompous Loki. He has the ability to shape shift." Mandarin answered. "But why would he do that?" Terence asked. "Obviously to keep you busy while they enacted the next step of their plot." Mandarin answered. "What could that be?" Terence wondered before Fury chimed in. "Team, once you're finished with Mandarin, return to base immediately. The Masters of Evil have kidnapped two X-Men: Nightcrawler and Jean Grey." Fury said before Mandarin laughed and disappeared. From there, Terence entered a portal back to the base and met with Colonel Fury. "Welcome back from Mandarin's palace. It looks like the Masters of Evil managed to pull a fast one on us and kidnap two X-Men: Jean Grey and Nightcrawler. For thsi next part of the operation, we're moving our headquarters to another location. When you're ready to go, talk to Mr. Wingfoot." Fury said. Terence soon did so before he lost control as a cutscene began.
"He's awake!" Doom bellowed, revealing that the setting was inside his castle before a dark, demon-like creature teleported outside a door and kicked it closed. This creature was a German mutant named Kurt Wagner, aka Nightcrawler, one of the kidnapped X-Men, who proceeded to teleport towards the exit. "Seal the castle! Now!" Doom ordered as shutters came down over the windows in the foyer while Doombots patroled the room. However, Nightcrawler burst through the door and took off one of the Doombots' heads. He then proceeded to teleport towards a pair of swords on the wall and took them both, teleporting away before the Doombots could fire and up to the chandeliers over the robotic guards, taking out the chains to make them fall on the robots before taking out more himself, all the while, using his acrobatic skills to evade enemy fire. Soon, one Doombot remained. "En garde, mein freund." Nightcrawler said before stabbing his remaining sword through the chest of the final Doombot. However, when he tried to open the doors to freedom, he got an electric shock that knocked him out as Doom and two more Doombots came in. "Get him to the lab immediately." Doom ordered before Terence found himself in a new location and was greeted by Dr. Strange.
"Greetings, my friends, and welcome to my home, the Sanctum Sanctorum. I realize an aging townhouse in Greenwich Village doesn't quite match the opulence of Stark Tower, but I think you'll find it comfortable. The rest of our team has already moved in. I would suggest you talk to Colonel Fury first - he has information concerning our next mission." Strange said before Terence did so. "Team, welcome to our new headquarters, the home of Dr. Stephen Strange." Fury said. "Why did we leave Stark Tower?" Terence asked. "We moved because now that Loki's involved we're gonna need magic. And there's no better place on Earth for magic than the Sanctum Sanctorum." Fury answered. "Has there been any word on the kidnapping of Nightcrawler or Jean Grey?" Terence asked. "Professor Xavier has located one of his X-Men in Dr. Doom's castle. That means Latveria's your next stop. For more info, talk to Black Widow. You're free to explore your new HQ, but when you're ready to start the mission, use the Orb of Teleportation near Wong." Fury answered before Terence began to explore the Sanctum. While looking around, he met Strange's assistant, Wong, his teacher, the Ancient One, within a magical mirror, and a close friend of the doctor, Clea, Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension. Afterwards, he met with Weasel. "Hey, that name you gave me, C.B. Cebulski, was perfect." he said with a smile. "He was able to help you?" Terence asked. "Yeah, he said all I'd need was a S.H.I.E.L.D. security module. Would you mind talking to The Vision? I bet he has one." Weasel answered. And in no time, after learning that Clea had sensed some dark magic being put into play, Terence managed to collect said module from Vision, which was the same one Terence gave him when he first arrived at Stark Tower to help him secure his line into the S.H.I.E.L.D. database. "Well, what have we here? A brand new XJ9 S.H.I.E.L.D. security module. Sweet. Now I can do some serious hacking." Weasel said with an even bigger smile. "Enjoy yourself, Weasel." Terence said before heading off to his next mission, but he lost control as soon as he activated the Orb of Teleportation before a cutscene back at Doom's castle began, with Doom talking to his three most trusted partners in crime and a new one, the arch-enemy of Dr. Strange, Baron Karl Amadeus Mordo.
"Baron Mordo, I trust all is in order? Our guests will be arriving soon and I would hate to be ill prepared." Doom said. "You can rest assured: I have taken all the necessary steps." Mordo answered, only to get a scoff from Loki. "Ha! An infant could have cast better spells. The heroes have detected your magic and suspect something is afoot." said the god of mischief, clearly knowing that Clea and Strange could sense Mordo's magic anywhere. "They cannot possibly know the true meaning of the enchantments. I'd stake my life on it." Mordo retorted. "Be careful what you wager." Loki responded. "Loki, leave the good Baron alone. What does it matter if the heroes suspect? They will still be ensnared by the trap." Enchantress told her fellow Asgardian. "For his sake they'd best be. I'm taking a grave risk being associated with The Masters of Evil." Loki said. "Make no mistake, my friend we all stand to lose much if we fail. Which is why I'm certain Baron Mordo will achieve success." Doom said, reassuringly. "But I would warn you, Baron, my faith only goes so far. Failure will not be tolerated and the penalty will be most...unpleasant." he added. "What of the mutant amplifier we stole from the Omega Base? Does it work?" Ultron asked. "Yes, even better than I'd dare hope." Doom answered. "But time is now a factor in our plans." he added. "Why is that?" Ultron asked. "The mutant amplifier is quite destructive; if we do not move swiftly, the X-Man we kidnapped will die." Doom answered, pointing out the instability of the amplifier. "You surprise me, Dr. Doom. Why do you care for the health of the mutant?" Enchantress pondered. "I don't; an early death would hinder our plans. But make no mistake, death for the X-Man is inevitable." Doom answered before Terence regained control and found himself in what appeared to be Doom's castle.
"Colonel Fury, we've transported to Doom's castle. But something's wrong - we can't transport back." Terence said. "Doom must know you're there. Watch yourselves; there could be a trap around any corner. And remember, your primary mission is to retrieve Nightcrawler and Jean Grey. Once they're safe, find out whatever you can about the Masters of Evil's next more." Fury answered. "On a side note, Senator Kelly was abducted in the middle of the night. The really odd thing is, a jack-in-the-box was left in his place." he added. "A jack-in the-box? Why would anyone leave that?" Terence asked. "I have no idea. But keep your eyes open and see if you can find any information on the Senator's location." Fury answered. "Will do, Colonel Fury. Let's move out, team." Terence said before heading forward. As Terence moved forward, he noticed something off about the castle. "Wait a second! Dr. Doom doesn't have any hair, much less red hair! I wonder if I was even transported to Latveria at all. Wait, that black magic Strange and Clea sensed, could this be part of it? If so, I'm willing to bet it's a trap." Terence said to himself, wondering if this was, indeed, a trap set by the Masters of Evil. After fighting through several Doombots, and coming across some booby traps all around the "castle", Terence came across one of the kidnapped X-Men, Jean Grey. "I suppose Professor Xavier sent you to save me. Well, he shouldn't have bothered." she said, catching Terence off-guard. "Jean Grey! Are you okay? You sound different." he pointed out. "I am very different. For the first time in my life I'm free. Free to use my powers without being restrained by Xavier and all the rest of you." Jean responded. "Jean, you're not thinking straight." Terence said, clearly worried. "He told me you'd say something like that. And he also told me the truth. He said you fear me because I'm more powerful than any of you." Jean retorted, proving she had been put under some type of mind control. "You know we're your friends." Terence said, trying to reason with her and break the grip on her mind. "Liar! Everyone has tried to stop me from exploring just how powerful I am. Well, I think it's about time I found out. Don't you?" Jean retorted before she began to fight Terence and his team.
The fight was a relatively short one, ending with Jean backing up to the door she came out of. "Fools! I'll deal with you later!" Jean bellowed angrily before using her powers to reveal that the castle Terence was in, as he figured, wasn't Castle Doom at all, but a replica. "Jean must be under some tye of mind control. But look...this isn't Doom's castle!" Terence said once he saw a sign for a place called Murderworld pop up near him. Soon, someone was heard laughing over an intercom. "Hello, heroes. This is your old buddy Arcade. I hope you're ready for a fun filled day at Murderworld because I've got some killer events lined up." the voice said, proving that the black magic sensed earlier altered the destination chosen by the Orb of Teleportation, and they were sent to the circus/carnival/theme park-like setting of the insane criminal known only as Arcade. "Arcade, how did we wind up in Murderworld?" Terence asked. "I know you've been running yourselves ragged trying to stop Dr. Doom so I spoke to Baron Mordo. He was able to diver your teleportation spell to my little land of fun and assassination." Arcade answered. "What have you done to Jean? And where's Nightcrawler?" Terence asked. "See how tense you are? This little vacation is just what you need. And remember, no one ever leaves Murderworld unhappy...because no one ever leaves Murderworld alive!" Arade responded with a maniacal laugh. With little answers to go on, other than the fact that Baron Mordo was, indeed, responsible for the switched location arrival, Terence made his way into Murderworld proper and met the welcoming committee of clowns, all under the employment of Arcade.
Inside one of the animal cages, Terence found none other than Senator Kelly. "If you're planning on torturing me, you're only proving what I've been saying all along. You meta-humans are nothing but self-serving vigilantes." the Senator said, clearly unhappy to find that his rescuers are a group of meta-humans, something he couldn't stand more than mutants. "Senator, we didn't kidnap you, an assassin named Arcade did. We just saved you." Terence said, trying to explain what happened. "How do I know you didn't stage this whole event so that I'd be grateful to you?" the Senator asked, still suspicious that his kidnapping was the work of meta-humans, and possibly mutants. "You are a paranoid one, aren't you? Well, suit yourself. Wander around here all you want. With a little luck, you'll last ten minutes before one of Arcade's traps kills you." Terence responded, pointing out the reason why their current location was called Murderworld. "All right, all right. What should I do?" the Senator asked, clearly convinced. "Find a safe place nearby and hide there. Once we've escaped, we'll have S.H.I.E.L.D. send a force to come and pick you up." Terence answered. "Thank you. And I suppose I should apologize for my rude behavior. But you have to understand, a man in my position can't afford to trust anyone." the Senator said. "I don't think I could ever understand someone like you, Senator. Just keep out of harms way and help will be here shortly." Terence responded before moving on, taking out more clowns and killer robot jack-in-the-boxes before confronting Jean in the Big Top tent before him. "Well, if it isn't my dear, dear friends. You're wasting your time trying to save me. You should be worried about saving yourselves." she said. "Jean, this isn't right. Arcade must be using some type of machine to control your mind." Terence responded. "Liar! Arcade isn't controlling me, he set me free. He wants me to use my powers...to their fullest." Jean retorted, causing Terence concern, knowing full well what happens when Jean uses too much power. "He's using you to hurt us, Jean." Terence said, once again trying to reason with her. "Then it looks like Arcade is going to get what he wants." Jean responded as another fight began.
It went about as well as the last time he fought Jean, this time with the fight ending in her defeat. "Arcade! Help me!" Jean called before she was sucked into an arcade video game cabinet. "Jean, Jean, Jean. I had so hoped you'd kill them. Ah, well. You still have your uses." Arcade said over the loudspeaker, trying to make the best of a bad situation. "What have you done with her, Arcade?" Terence asked, clearly upset. "Temper, temper. That's no way to enjoy your day at the park. Why don't you test your video game skills and see if you can save your friend? But watch out, there's going to be a few pitfalls along wht way." Arcade responded. "How the heck do we activate that video game?" Terence asked. Suddenly, a clown car bursted into the tent and multiple clowns exited the vehicle. After dealing with them, Terence found a Murderworld token. "Aha! Where there's an arcade machine, you may also find some kind of coins or tokens to activate them." Terence said to himself. And in a few moments, Terence found himself in the game, which was pretty much a recreation of the 1982 Activision game for the Atari 2600, Pitfall. "This is weird, I'm in a game, within a game. Well, no time to think about paradoxes, I have to find a way to save Jean Grey." Terence said after getting his bearings. After doing his best Pitfall Harry impersonation, which included jumping over tarpits, swinging on vines, jumping arcross crocodile heads, jumping over snakes, fires, logs and, of course, plenty of pitfalls, Terence finally made it to the end of the game and freed Jean before returning to Murderworld.
"I just had the weirdest dream I attacked you guys at a carnival. Oh, I guess that really happened." Jean said after waking up from her hypnotic slumber. "Somehow Arcade was mentally controlling you. Are you all right?" Ternece explained. "Other than feeling like I was hit by a truck, yeah, I'm just great. Now if only my head would stop spinning." Jean responded. "Is Nightcrawler around here?" Terence asked. "I don't think so. The last I saw of Kurt, Dr. Doom had him hooked up to some kind of power amplifier. It looked extremely painful." Jean answered. "That must be the Mutant Amplifier stolen from the Omega Base." Terence explained. "Arcade was there along with Doom. Find him and he can tell you where Nightcrawler is." Jean pointed out. "Thanks, Jean. You rest here. We'll continue on and find Arcade." Terence said. However, once he found that he needed two golden tickets to enter the fun house where Arcade was hiding out, Terence decided to explore the park and find said tickets. While looking, he ended up finding and rescuing none other than the vampire hunter of the Marvel Universe, the Daywalker himself, Eric Cross Brooks, aka Blade, from a claw machine. "How in blazes did I get here...and speakin' of that, where is here?" Blade asked. "This is Murderworld. You must have been brought here by Arcade." Terence explained. "What would a loser like Arcade want with me?" Blade asked. "I don't know, but he must have done it on Dr. Doom's orders. Doom's formed a group of villains known as the Masters of Evil." Terence answered. "Doom, eh? Any idea what he's up to?" Blade asked. "We don't know exactly what he has planned, but it's gonna be big. He's stolen a couple of S.H.I.E.L.D. experiments, including the new Super Soldier Serum." Terence explained. "Now this is starting to sound interesting. Tell you what, I'm joining the team. If you need me, just let me know, cause there's nothing I'd rather do than take down Victor Von Doom." Blade said with a smile. Afterwards, Terence continued to look around for the first golden ticket.
Eventually he did find the first one, after navigating a deadly maze and battling against several of Arcade's clowns in bumper cars. "There, we've got a golden ticket. But we need to locate the other ticket before we can track down Arcade." Terence said before heading back to the big top. He soon took another direction and found himself in what looked like a giant pinball machine. "Hi, kids. Welcome to a little pinball game I call 'Sudden Death'. It's been a smashing success with everyone who's played it...may they rest in pease." Arcade said over the loudspeaker, indicating that this pinball machine is another of his elaborate traps. "What do you think this is, Arcade? Some kind of game?" Terence asked, thinking the madman was living up to his namesake. "Indeed I do. And of course I'll only run a fair game, so all you have to do is get 1 million points to win. How hard can that be?" Arcade answered. "Arcade, we're not going to take part in this sadistic trap of yours." Terence said, defiantly. "I can see you're anxious to play. So get ready...get set...GO!" Arcade responded, clearly not listening to what Terence had to say, so the brave hero went on into the machine. Along the way, he came across two of Spider-Man's old enemies, the first of them was Rhino. "End of the line, losers. I'm gonna flatten you into the dirt." Rhino said, confidently. "You sure talk a good fight, Rhino." Terence quiped, sounding rather cocky. "Are you tryin' to make me mad? Because that's exactly what you don't wanna do." Rhino responded, upset. "Is this the part where we're supposed to be scared?" Terence asked, clearly trying to be like Spider-Man. "That does it. When I'm done, there won't be enough of you left to fill a thimble." Rhino said, angrily before the fight began.
Like last time, Rhino proved to be powerful, but with great effort, Terence took him down. The second villain Terence ran into was Herman Schultz, aka the Shocker. "Dude, nice outfit. Did you get it at a rummage sale? It kinda reminds me of my grandma's oven mits." quipped Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch. "Make your jokes, Human Torch, but I'm gonna be the one who's laughing last when I hit you with vibrations that'll turn your bones to jelly." Shocker retorted. "That's it? The worst you can do is vibrate me? Arcade, please you've gotta bring in somebody better than this joker." Human Torch responded, clearly not impressed. "That does it, big mouth. You are dead meat." Shocker said, clearly not willing to stand by and be insulted by the jokester of the Fantastic Four. With that, the fight was on. Like the two times before, Shocker fell to Terence. "Come on, Shock. You challenged me twice before, and you end with the same result the third time." Terence said, confidently as he got the 1 million point score needed to exit and get the golden ticket. "We got the high score! Now we can get out of here and track down Arcade!" Terence said, relieved that the pinball game was over. However, an announcement came on announcing it was time for multi-ball, indicating to Terence that it was time to amscray, icklyquay. Soon, he grabbed the second ticket. "Finally, we have both golden tickets. Now we can track down Arcade and find out what happened to Nightcrawler." Terence said before he exited back into the big top and exchanged the tickets for access to the fun house. Inside, he found three door, one of them being locked. "Looks like I'll have to find away to unlock door number two, by looking through doors 1 and 3." Terence said before doing so.
At the end of a hallway behind door number 1 was a GIANT game of Breakout. "Great, Arcade's making me play through another video game, WITHIN THIS ONE. Well, here goes something." he said to himself as he batted the ball from his paddle to the bricks above him. In no time, upon destroying all the bricks, the number 2 door opened. "Guess I didn't need to explore that third path after all." Terence said as he entered the second doorway. He soon found a finger in the middle of the room. "This better not be some lame joke." Terence said to himself as he pulled the finger. Once he did, the whole hand exploded. "I hope you're ready to dance till you drop, because in a little bit, you're going to be as dead as disco." Arcade said over the loudspeaker as multiple clowns dropped in and a disco ball came down and started spinning. Once the clown pose had been dealt with, Terence ventured on and found another finger. Once pulled, the floor gave out under him, dropping him right into a massive room and at the feet of a giant robot piloted by Arcade. "I hope you kids had a fun day at the park. You have no idea how much your mother and I had to scrimp and save so we could afford to send you here." Arcade said after his adversaries dropped in. "Arcade, fun time's over. Give up while you still can." Terence demanded. "Well, I can see someone's getting cranky. But that's okay. I've got a little sometohing here that should quiet you down...permanently!" Arcade responded. "Bring it, Arcade. We'll tear that tin toy of yours apart." Terence responded, bravely. "Alright, you asked for it. But remember, this is gonna hurt you way more than it's gonna hurt me." Arcade said as the battle began.
Terence immediately caught on with the strategy of how to bring Arcade's robot down, by using the cannons on the four sides of the room, Terence got on top of the robot's head and make it attack itself while trying to hurt him. After four times, the massive robot was down and out, allowing Terence to confront Arcade. "Why if it isn't Captain America. I'd salute but I think my arm is broken." Arcade said, jokingly. "I've got no time for your stupid jokes, Arcade. Tell me where Nightcrawler is before I really do break your arm." Cap responded, clearly not in the mood for playing around. "Cappy, I'm surprised. I didn't think you'd resort to torture." Arcade said, once again, jokingly. "After what you did to Jean Grey; it wouldn't be torture, it'd be justice. Now talk before I do something you'll regret." Cap retorted. "Okay, okay, enough with the rough stuff. Dr. Doom used the Mutant Amplifier on Nightcrawler." Arcade said. "Why? Would good would it do to super charge Nightcrawler's powers?" Cap asked. "Think about it, boyscoud. With enough power, Nightcrawler could open a portal to anywhere. And it just so happens, Doom wanted to go to Mephisto's Realm." Arcade answered, bringing a feeling of shock to Terence, as he knew full well what Mephisto's Realm was. "And before you ask, no, I don't know why they went there." he added. "Then we're done here. Let's get back to headquarters, team. We've got a rescue to prepare for." Cap said before Terence was transported back to the Sanctum Sanctorum.
"That was a nice job in Murderworld. You turned a potential disaster into a successful mission." Fury said as soon as Terence entered the building. "How did we wind up in Murderworld?" Terence asked. "That dark magic Clea had sensed was Mordo's spell waiting to divert the Orb of Teleportation. But Wong's corrected the promblem - it won't happen again." Fury explained, confirming what Arcade said when Terence first arrived. "Any word on Nightcrawler?" Terence asked. "Yes. Xavier's discovered that Arcade was telling the truth. Doom used the Mutant Amplifier on Nightcrawler to open a portal to Mephisto's Realm." Fury answered. "What's Mephisto's Realm?" Terence asked, even though he knew exactly what it was. "It's a dimension of fire and brimstone and it's where you're headed next. For more information, talk to Professor Xavier of if you're ready to go now, use the Orb of Teleportation." Fury explained. After being asked a favor by Wong to retrieve an object known as the Eye of the Shadow Queen, Terence met with Weasel. "Congratulate me. I managed to hack into the S.H.I.E.L.D. database and get more info." the hacker said with a smile. "Congrats, Weasel. Now tell us what you found." Terence responded. "I found out that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s think tank, The Imperium, is working on something called Project War Lord." Weasel explained. "What's that?" Terence asked. "I'm not sure. But I've got bigger problems, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hot on my trail and I've gotta hide. There's two places I figure I can go; the Baxter Building or the X-Mansion. Ask Pym which one would be safer." Weasel answered, clearly worried. After hearing from both Pym and Professor Xavier, Terence returned to Weasel and told him that the best place to hide from S.H.I.E.L.D. would be at the X-Mansion, seeing as Professor X wouldn't allow S.H.I.E.L.D. personal on the property, whereas the Fantastic Four had worked with S.H.I.E.L.D. before and allowed them into the Baxter Building. Aterwards, Terence used the Orb of Teleportation to head to his next mission.
"Team, this next mission takes you to Mephisto's Realm. It's an alternate dimension that's filled with fire and brimstone." Fury said to the team. "Ah! Why can't we eer be sent to an alternate dimension filled with lonely super models?" Spider-Man asked, clearly unhappy with the location of choice. "Cause we're goin' ta save Nightcrawler. You got a problem with that?" Wolverine responded. "Oh...sorry. I'll just be quiet now." Spidey said, nervously, while also knowing full well what Wolverine could do with his claws. "Best news I heard all day." Wolverine said. "Why is Nightcrawler in Mephisto's Realm?" Elektra asked. "Dr. Doom somehow forced him to teleport a group of them to that dimension." Fury answered. "How is that possible? Nightcrawler's abilities were never that strong." Storm pointed out. "They used a device known as a mutant amplifier. If magnified his powers far beyond the nrom." Fury explained. "What's the amplifier doing to Kurt?" Storm asked, slightly worried. "We estimate it's overdriven his powers to the point that it's causing physical damage. You have to move fast or it'll kill him." Fury answered. "Do you know why the Masters of Evil are going to this dimension?" Elektra asked. "No. Any knowledge you could gain would be helpful. So far we've been completely in the dark as to what Doom is up to." Fury answered. "But Kurt comes first. We ain't riskin' his life - you got it, bub?" Wolverine asked, clearly not willing to sacrifice the life of a fellow X-Man. "I understand, Wolverine. Nightcrawler's safety is the number one priority. So get movin'." Fury answered. And so, in no time, Terence found himself in the Marvel Universe version of the underwold, Mephisto's Realm. "Oh man, this is exactly where I didn't want to be today. Look at me, I'm already turning into puddles." Iceman said, clearly worried he might melt. "Robert, I understand your trepidation, but you must remain calm. The heat of Mephisto's Realm is of no real threat to you." Professor Xavier said via telepathy. "But this place is all fire and brimstone...I don't know if I can take it." Iceman retorted, still worried. "Need I remind you that Nightcrawler is depending on you to save him?" Professor X asked. "You're right, sir. Now isn't the time for me to go mental. I'll keep it in control." Iceman responded. "Excellent. Now I urge you to move quickly. My psychic power is waning and I cannot protect Nightcrawler much longer." Professor X soon said. "Hey, I've got no problem with moving quickly. The faster the better." Iceman gladly responded. "Very good then. The best of luck to you and your team, Robert." Professor X said before Terence gained control and headed forward into Mephisto's Realm.
Terence soon realized that the only way to get to Nightcrawler's location was to complete five different tasks and light the candles at the five points of the star in the middle of the area where he was. But after lighting the third candle, Professor X chimed in. "I cannot protect Nightcrawler much longer. My shields are under attack by a creature known as Blackheart. To boost the psychic shields, Jean Grey will be using the Orb of Teleportation to join you." he said before Jean showed up and got to work almost immediately. "I've made it, Professor Xavier. I'm with the team." she said. "Excellent. I would recommend Jean stay where she is so that she can concentrate on aiding me." Professor X responded. "We'll do just that, Professor Xavier." Terence concured. "Watch yourself, Jean." Professor X told his student. "Not to worry, Professor. I'll create a mental shield of my own." Jean responded. "Then the best of luck to us all." said the Professor before Terence went on to complete the final two tasks. Once that was done, Terence moved on. But not long after, Professor X chimed in again. "Blackheart is proving much stronger than I'd anticipated. He's almost through my last shield around Nightcrawler. Jean, I require your full attention." the professor said, worried. "I'm here Professor, but I'm under attack by Blackheart's minions" Jean responded. "Then protect yourself, Jean. Leave Nightcrawler to me." said the professor. "It's too late! They're through my defenses! I'm sory, Professor!" Jean shouted. "Jean...JEAN!" Professor X called, but no answer was heard, until someone or something else did answer. "You never stood a chance, Xavier. Now both the X-Men are mind. As will be the rest of your team very soon." said the voice, which turned out to belong to none other than the supposed son of Mephisto himself, Blackheart.
With that, Terence moved on and soon found none other than the Spirit of Vengeance himself, Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, trapped. "There's Ghost Rider, but he's unconscious. We have to save him somehow." Terence said before looking up. "That must be his astral energy in chains. Maybe freeing it would free him." he added. After breaking the chains holding the energy in place, Terence soon heard the voice of Blackheart's father, Mephisto. "So what my son Blackheart has told me is true. The heroes have finally arrived in my realm." the foul creatures said. "Mephisto! Let Ghost Rider go!" Terence demanded. "You wish freedom for your imprisoned brethren? Very well, I will allow it. But only in exchange for one of you." Mephisto responded. "You want one of us to switch places with Ghost Rider?" Terence asked. "Yes. Whichever of you touches the Book of Despair will become entrapped and Ghost Rider will be set free." Mephisto answered. "I would ask that you allow me to take Ghost Rider's place. For only I can endure this prison without damage." Dr. Strange suggested, knowing that he had magical might all his own. So, Terence allowed Dr. Strange to swap places with Ghost Rider. "What's gong on? Where am I? And what are you doing here?" Ghost Rider asked, clearly confused as to what happened. "You were a prisoner here in Mephisto's Realm. We set you free by letting one of our team take your place." Terence explained. "That's just great. So the only way to free your teammate is to fight Mephisto?" Ghost Rider asked, clearly not too thrilled. "Yeah, that pretty much sums it up." Terence answered. "I was safer when I was a prisoner. But what the heck. Let's get moving. We don't want to keep Mephisto waiting, do we?" Ghost Rider said, clearly more than happy the chance to fight the being that imprisoned him.
After fighting through the forces siced on him by Mehpisto and Blackheart, Terence finally met and confronted the latter. "Greetings, heroes. I've arranged for some very special entertainment; I do hope you enjoy it." Blackheart said. "We want Nightcrawler and Jean Grey. Hand them over now." Terence demanded. "You're certainly welcome to them...well, one of them anyway." Blackheart responded. "What do you mean by that?" Terence asked. "I hold the key that will open one cage and cause the other to plummet into the Infinity Vortex. Now the question is, which of the X-Men do you wish for me to save? The pious Nightcrawler? Or the benevolent Jean Grey?" Blackheart answered, meaning Terence would have to make a choice as to who would live, and who would die. "We'll take that key from you and save them both." Terence said defiantly. "I should have guessed you would attempt such foolishness. Come then and try to take it." Blackheart said, daringly. In moments, the fight was on.
Once Blackheart was beaten, Terence headed up to both cages and saw both of the X-Men trapped, just dangling over the Infinity Vortex. "Nein! Do not open this door! It will cause Jean's cage to fall. Please, if you have any mercy in your heart, do not doom me to a life of guilt. Save Jean. Let me be the one to perish." Nightcrawler pleaded. "Stay back! Do not unlock this door; Nightcrawler's cage would fall. I refuse to be the cause of his death. He's a good man and he deserves to live." Jean Grey pleaded. After some thinking, Terence made the hard decision, and freed Nightcrawler, causing Jean's cage to plummet into the Infinity Vortex. "Nein! Jean!" Nightcrawler shouted upon being freed. "That...that should have been me. Why didn't you save Jean?" Nightcrawler asked, solemnly. "Nightcrawler, I'm sorry. There wasn't enough time." Terence said with remorse. "I would have gladly sacrificed myself. You know that and you let Jean die. How could you?" Nightcrawler asked with a hint of anger. "Nightcrawler, please calm down. This is not the time for a display of anger." Professor X said, trying to calm down his student. "You are quite right, Professor. There is a score to settle with Mephisto." Nightcrawler concured. "No, there is not, Kurt. You are to return to home base at once. I'll not have you jeopardizing this mission." Professor X retorted. "I see. If those are your orders, then I will comply." Nightcrawler responded. "You have my condolences, Professor Xavier. I know Jean was special to you." Terence said, sadly. "Yes...yes she was. But it is up to you to give her death meaning. Stop the Masters of Evil before any more lives are lost." Professor X responded before a portal soon opened. "Now you feel the pain of the ultimate loss. And no doubt you seek revenge. Come then and face me. I will show you an entirely new world of pain when I rip your astral spirit from your body." Mephisto soon said before Terence entered the portal.
Once through, Terence finally met Mephisto face to face. "At last, the heroes have arrived! But then, I would have waited an eternity to possess you." Mephisto said. "I had no idea we were so important to you, Mephisto." Terence said, jokingly. "Indeed you are. So much so that I gave Dr. Doom the Twilight Sword in exchange for leading you into my domain." Mephisto responded. "What does Doom need with a weapon as powerful as the Twilight Sword?" Terence asked. "He has rather unique plans for Asgard." Mephisto answered, revealing that Asgard was Doom's next target. "That's impossible. He doesn't stand a chance against the Asgardians, even with the Twilight Sword." Terence pointed out. "The resourceful Doctor stands a very good chance of succeeding. But enough of Doom. My wait is over. And now my minions will take your astral spirits!" Mephisto responded before teleporting away. And so, after fighting hordes of Mephisto's minions, a portal opened that led to the vile being himself, allowing Terence to confront him at last. "Your tenacity is to be admired. Few have ever lasted this long in my domain. And as a token of my admiration, I will bring back Jean Grey." Mephisto said, clearly impressed by Terence's survival up to that point, but his proposal was puzzling. "Jean died when she fell into the Infinity Vortex." Terence pointed out. "True enough. But there is still an echo of the X-Man's astral energy that resonates in my dimension. And that is more than enough for me to reconstruct your friend. BUt before I will grant you this favor, you must prove yourself worthy by solving the puzzle. Prepare yourselves!" Mephisto responded before the battle, and the puzzle, began.
Mephisto proved to be powerful and craft, but after enough damage was done, he made a sword appear in his hand. Once the sword was taken, Terence struck one of the stone statues of Jean Grey around the center of the area, creating a transparent Jean Grey. After doing this four more times, Jean Grey appeared, completely visible and solid, but perplexed as to what happened. "What just happened? I thought I died." Jean said, surprised to be back. "Jean! You're back! This is wonderful!" Terence said happily, only for Mephisto's laughter to interrupt the ocassion. "I do hate to ruin this happy moment, but I failed to mention one slight detail. This echo of your friend is all too easy for me to control. Isn't that right, Miss Grey?" the vile creature sai, clearly knowing he had an advantage if Jean was brought back to life. "Quite correct, Lord Mephisto." Jean responded. "Now, destroy your friends, that I might take their astral energy." Mephisto ordered. "With pleasure, my lord." Jean responded. And now, Terence had twice as much trouble on his hands. "Great! I have to fight Mephisto, and Jean Grey?!" he said in disbelief. But regardless, the fight ended once Jean was snapped back to her senses.
"Jean, are you alright? Did we hurt you?" Terence asked. "No, all you did was clear my mind. I'm sorry for attacking you." Jean answered. "Don't worry about it. Come on, let's get out of here." Terence responded, willing to leave Mephisto behind for good. "I'm sorry but Mephisto was right. I'm just an echo of my real self. I can't leave this dimension." Jean sadly admitted. "After we beat Mephisto, we'll talk to Professor Xavier, he'll figure something out." Terence suggested, hoping to bring some hope to Jean, or what was left of her. "I'm sorry but I can't leave here. And we have to face facts, you can't defeat Mephisto. But I can, by sacrificing what little energy I have left." Jean said with remorse, knowing full well she was the only thing that could stop Mephisto. "Don't even think like that. We can save you, I know we can." Terence said, defiantly. "Nothing can be done for me now. And I would rather die than spend an eternity here. Take care, my friends. Tell Scott I love him...and tell Logan...goodbye." Jean said sadly before turning her full attention toward Mephisto. "Alright, Mephisto, I'm done playing games. Get ready to face the power of the Phoenix!" she shouted before charging at her former master. "Stay back from me! I command you! Stay back!" Mephisto demanded, but Jean wouldn't listen as she used all the power she had left to take him out.
"Oh, no. Jean sacrificed herself for us. She didn't have to do that." Terence said. "Yes, she did. Jean couldn't leave that realm. And she was the only one who could defeat Mephisto. There was no other options left." Professor X said. "We're so sorry, Professor Xavier." Terence said, mournfully. "Now is not the time for sorrow. My friend gave her life to save you and to aid you in your mission. Go. Stop the Masters of Evil, do not allow them to achieve success, and Jean Grey will not have died in vain." the professor responded. "Thank you, Professor Xavier. I'm sure the team won't let you down." Fury chimed in. "Team, I hate to even bring this up, bu Mephisto did mention Dr. Doom had plans for Asgard. Return to base as quickly as possible so the that we can respond to this new threat." he added. As soon as the portal opened, Terence took it back to the Sanctum Sanctorum where Fury delivered a eulogy for Jean. "The loss of Jean Gery is a tragedy; no one believed more deeply in the X-Men's struggle to promote understanding between mutants and humans. And while we may miss Jean as a friend, the world is going to miss her as the rarest type of champion there is...a champion of peace." Fury said, mournfully. "I wish there was additional time to mourn Miss Grey's death, but from what was heard in Mephisto's Realm, we have to get to Asgard quickly. To go to Asgard, use the Orb of Teleportation." he added. And so, after having a small moment of silence for Jean Grey, Terence headed toward the Orb of Teleportation and set off for Asgard. Upon doing so, he lost control as a cutscene began.
"Ho! Brave warriors of Asgard. I've come to pay my respects to Odin" called Loki, clearly indicating that he was just outside the main city of Asgard, home of Thor, Loki and their father, Odin. "Loki." said one of the guards standing at the gates before spitting off to his left. "And, of course, I brought presents." Loki said upon teleporting between the two guards. "Behold! My tribute to the All-Father." Loki said with a chuckle as several boulders headed straight for the gates of the city, revealed to be have been thrown by several Super Soldiers. "The day of reckoning has arrived!" Loki shouted as upon teleporting back to his army. "Long have I been denied my rightful place. But now, I have the power to take it!" Loki said, clearly pointing out the reason why he team with Doom and the other members of the Masters of Evil, to sieze the throne of Asgard from his father. The Super Soldiers threw a much more massive boulder towards the gates of Asgard, taking them down from the top once it hit. One of the guards sacrificed himself to save the other while Loki simply laughed and allowed his Super Soldier army to charge forward. The remaining guard, hammer in hand, decided to go down fighting. "For Asgard!" he shouted as he charged into the mass of Super Soldiers while Loki watched in content. "Odin's throne will be mine." he god of mischief said with a sinister laugh of triumph.
Soon, Terence found himself in part of Thor's homeland. "Look around you, team; we're standing in a land very few humans have ever seen. This is the world known as Valhalla - it's where brave Asgardian warriors go when they die." Fury explained. "Understand that the only reason we're allowed to make headquarters here is because Asgard has fallen and they need our help to defeat Doom." he added. "What can we do to help them?" Terence asked. "Right now we have two possible missions. First, the gate of the Bifrost Bridge has been locked and needs to be opened. Second, many of the gods are being held prisoner in Asgard. For more information on freeing the prisoners, talk to Lady Sif. To find out about the Bifrost bridge, talk to Hermod. If you're ready to start now, take the path to Asgard or the portal to Bifrost." Fury answered. And so, after exploring Valhalla, Terence headed off to take on the mission at the Bifrost Bridge.
"My friends, these are indeed dark times. The Masters of Evil have overwhelmed the army of Asgard and the only path for reinforcements has ben closed off to us - the Bifrost Bridge." Thor explained, gravely. "Isn't that how your people travel back and forth between Earth and Asgard?" Cap asked. "Aye. A great many warriors would return if only the path were open." Thor answered. "How did Doom manage to block off Bifrost?" Cap asked. "The gate at the end closest to Earth has been closed and barred. It can only be opened from our side. But I would warn you - The Wrecking Crew is guarding the gate." Thor answered. "The Wrecking Crew? Pardon me for not being scared." Spider-Man said, thinking the Wrecking Crew weren't a major threat. "I gotta agree with web-head here. How bad can these jokers be?" Wolverine asked, also not thinking the Wrecking Crew were a serious threat. "The Wrecking Crew is not to be taken lightly. They are humans who were mistakenly granted the powers of one of my people. More than once they have sorely tested my powers." Thor explained. "They almost beat you? Then we'd better be on our guard." Cap said. "They are formidable opponents. But that is not all - Loki has struck a bargain with Hela, the goddess of death. Her minions will also seek to stop us." Thor said further. "So we're fighting gods and the undead. Right...Anyone else nervous about our odds here?" Spider-Man quipped. "We must succeed. Without those additional forces, there is little hope for Asgard." Thor said, grimly. "Not to worry, Thor. We'll get those gates open." Storm said reassuringly. "I thank you, my friends. Let us battle on to victory!" Thor responded, more confident than before as Terence found himself outside the Bifrost Bridge.
"Colonel Fury, we've made it to the Bifrost Bridge." Terence said. "Good. Make your way across as quickly as possible and open the Bifrost gate. But watch yourselves, the Wrecking Crew aren't gonna be pushovers." Fury responded. But soon, another voice is heard. "Humans, I would ask a favor of you." said the voice, which turned out to be one of the many warriors of Asgard, Valkyrie. "Sure, Valkyrie. What can we do for you?" Terence responded. "My sword, Dragon Fang, has gone missing. And I have reason to believe it is located somewhere near you. Should you find it, would you contact me?" Valkyrie asked. "We'd be happy to." Terence responded before heading off to complete his mission. After fighting through several of Hela's undead warriors and performing several tasks in order to advance, Terence found Dragon Fang. "Valkyrie, we found your sword." Terence called out. "Thank you, humans. I will not forget this. Come to me, Dragon Fang. Together we will aid Asgard in her time of need." Valkyrie responded as the sword disappeared. As Terence headed towards the gate, he had little idea of the consequences that came with finding Valkyrie's sword, aside from freeing Asgard from Loki's grasp. Soo, Terry made it to the gate and found the Wrecking Crew blocking it. "Hey, Wrecker! Look who's here!" said one of them, known as Eliot Franklin, aka Thunderball. "Heads up, men. Seems we've got us a little challenge." Wrecker, aka Dirk Garthwaite, responded. "Little is right. What fun are they gonna be? I wanna fight more gods." Piledriver, aka Brian Philip Calusky, concured, knowing full well what power they each possessed. "Yeah, this bunch is gonna be too easy." agreed Bulldozer, aka Henry Camp. "That's what we get for takin' out their big guns first. Now it's just a matter of dealing with the small fries." Wrecker pointed out. "You may have the power of a god, Wrecker, but you're still a loser in my book." Terence said. "Now you're making me angry. Big mistake. Get 'em, men. And make 'em hurt real bad." Wrecker responded before all four men went on the attack.
One by one, they each fell before Terence. And once the wrecking crew was dealt with, Terence opened the gate, allowing reinforcements to enter Asgard. "Colonel Fury, the Bifrost gates are open now." Terence said. "Good job. Now reinforcements will be able to join us from Earth. Return to Valhalla immediately." Fury responded, so Terence did. "Good job, team. The gates of Bifrost are open now and the path is clear to Earth." Fury said as soon as Terence returned. "Your next mission involves freeing the gods in Asgard. For more information, talk to Lady Sif or if you want to go now, use the path to Asgard." he continued. "And you should be happy to know that having finished the Bifrost mission, you're allowed into the Hall of the Honored Fallen." he concluded. With that, Terence went into and explored the Hall of the Honored Fallen, the feasting hall of the courageous dead of Asgard, who await their chance to take part of the final battle - Ragnarok. Within the hall, Terence met with Weasel once more. "I tell you waht, life is sweet at the X-Mansion. If it weren't for the big blue ape guy asking me when I'm going to leave, I'd stay there forever." he said, clearly saying that Hank McCoy, aka Beast, the X-Man he was referring to, didn't want him to overstay his welcome. "Great. So what can you do to find out if Black Widow is a traitor?" Terence asked. "I've got one last idea to get solid evidence against her, but I need the password into her S.H.I.E.L.D. account. It's either Ivan Petrovitch or Dr. Ines. Talk to Hank Pym about it." Weasel answered. Soon, Terence returned with the correct password, that being Ivan Petrovitch, Black Widow's surrogate father who raised her after her parents were killed in a fire. Afterwards, Terence headed off to Asgard before he lost control and viewed a cutscene between Loki, Doom, Enchantress, Ultron and Baron Mordo.
"Ha, ha! It was more wondrous than my wildest of dreams! How I wish I could forever relive the fall of Asgard! It was so amusing to watch the oafish knaves as they fought in defense of their beloved city. But one by one they realized that all was lost. Heimdall, Tyr and even the mighty Balder have tasted the bitter dregs of defeat. Now I, Loki, amd the true Lord and Master of Asgard. And all those who had dared to mock me are in chains - beaten and hopeless" Loki boasted, proud of his conquest. "Need I remind you, Loki, that your brother Thor still remainds free." Enchantress said, attempting to rein in Loki's boastful behavior. "Your fascination with the God of Thunder grows tiresome, Enchantress." Loki responded, clearly not pleased with being reminded of his brother. "But has he not proven himself your better...time and time again?" she asked. "Careful. That beauteous face will gain you only so much of my mercy." Loki warned. "But she does bring a valid point to light. Thor will likely attempt to liberate the fallen warriors" Doom pointed out. "Think you that I would not be prepared? Traps aplenty wait for those who would dare to free my prisoners." Loki retorted. "Traps that even they cannot overcome?" Doom asked, doubtful of Loki's claims of being prepared. "You underestimate me, Doom. After all, am I not the God of Mischief? My brother and his friends will most assuredly enter Asgard - but trust me when I say they will never leave." Loki responded. Soon, Terence regained control. "Sif, we've arrived in Asgard." Terence said. "Very good. You must now move quickly to free Balder. Only he can rally the gods and save Asgard!" Lady Sif responded before Terence ventured on.
But after taking a few steps, Terence came across some trolls under the command of Loki. "Asgard has fallen and the gods are in chains! Begone while you still draw breath, humans!" one of the trolls demanded. ""We're not leaving. As a matter of fact, we're coming through." Terence responded, undaunted. "I had heard that humans were foolish, but I had no idea how foolish. Destroy the trespassers!" the lead troll called out before Terence engaged them. Once they were beaten, Terence came upon Balder. "What's this? Are you another illusion of Loki's? Will his thirst for vengeance upon us ever be sated?" he asked, clearly unsure if whom he saw was just another illusion conjured up by Loki. "Don't worry, Balder. We've been sent to free you." Terence responded. "I should have known friends of Thor would come to our aid. But it shall not be so easy to liberate me." Balder said. "Why? What do we have to do?" Terence asked. "Two of my brethren are also imprisoned: Tyr and Heimdall. To break the spells which bind me you must free them first." Balder answered. "Where are they?" Terence asked. "You will find them through the doors to either side of me. I care not about my fate, but please free Tyr and Heimdall." Balder explained. With that, Terence set forth to free Heimdall first. After fighting through several foes, Terence finally reached Heimdall, only to find him frozen. "Heimdall's frozen solid. We have to save him!" Terence said, but he soon found that would be easier said than done as Rhino and Shocker were guarding him. "Right now, you've got much bigger worries than the living icicle here." Shocker retorted. "Yeah, there's the little matter of you gettin' stomped flat." Rhino concured. "Haven't you two had enough? We've beat you before." Terence pointed out, clearly remembering that he took them down easily back in Murderworld inside of Arcade's Sudden Death pinball machine trap. "But we're ready for you this time." Shocker retorted. "And make no mistake, we ain't gonna take you prisoner. Cause there ain't gonna be enough of you left to put in a thimble." Rhino added before the battle began.
Much like the last time Terence faced them, both guys fell. "That takes care of those two cretins. Now to defrost Heimdall. We have to figure out someway to melt each layer of ice around him...but how?" Terence pondered before he spot mirrors inside each of the four cages surrounding Heimdall. Realizing that lifting the cages and freeing the mirrors was the key, Terence set about doing so and proceeded to activate them, melting Heimdall's icy prison. "Thank you, my friends. I owe you my life." Heimdall said once free. "Heimdall, what happened?" Terence asked. "Loki, the God of Mischief, played his ultimate trick. He has betrayed all of Asgard...and for that he will pay dearly." Heimdall answered. "What can we do to help you?" Terence asked. "My horn was taken from me. Would you be willing to locate it?" Heimdall answered. "Yes, we'll look for your horn." Terence responded. "Thank you. I will await your return with my horn." Heimdall said, gratefully. After some looking, Terence found Heimdall's horn. "We've located Heimdall's horn. Let's get it back to him." Terence said. Soon, he returned to Heimdall with the horn. "Praise Odin! You've located my horn! Now I will give those villains the full measure of my fury. But first I would repay you for your courage. Here is a portal that will take you back to Balder." Heimdall said, more grateful than before. "Thanks, Heimdall. We'll free Balder shortly." Terence responded. "You best work quickly then, for I may very well free all of Asgard on my own! Good luck to you and fare thee well!" Heimdall said with a smile before he took his leave and Terence returned to Balder.
"It is good you have freed Heimdall, but you must now do the same for Tyr! You can findhim through the door behind me." Balder said before Terence went through said door. After plenty of searching and fighting, Terence found Tyr dangling over a pool of hot, molten metal. "Tyr, that's no way to straighten your spine." Spider-Man quipped, before the guards let themselves be known, and they were none other than Scorpion, now decked out in a new outfit that looked like armor, thus making him Ultra Scorpion, and Curt Conners, aka The Lizard. "This must be our lucky day. We get to play with the Spider." Scorpion said. "Well if it isn't two of my favorite psychos: Scorpion and Lizard. How are you kids doing?" Spidey jokingly responded. "Always the comedian, aren't you, Web-head?" Lizard asked with a hiss. "Now is that any way to talk to someone who brough you a nice new lily pad to sit on?" Spider-Man responded. "He's a lizard, you idiot, not a frog." Scorpion said, annoyed. "Oh, well, how about you, Scorpion? You need a lily pad?" Spidey jokingly asked. "Hey, Scorpion, seeing the Web-Slinger reminds me of how much I love to pull the legs off of spiders." Lizard hissed. "Me, I just like to stomp 'em and watch 'em twitch." Scorpion responded. "Are you guys making veiled threats? I can't tell and I really think I should be in the loop on this." Spidey said. "That's it. I've heard enough. Let's shut him up, Scorpion." Lizard said, annoyed, before the fight started.
The fight was a bit harder than the first time Terence ran into Scorpion, manly because Lizard was backing him up. But after some effort, both villains fell. "So much for Lizard and Scorpion. Now let's see what we can do to get Tyr down from there. There has to be come way to cool off that molten metal. Let's search around and see what we can find." Terence said. After looking around, he found just what he needed, a big bucket of water that he promptly used to cool the metal off, turning it rock solid. "That seems to have cooled things off nicely. Now let's see if we can get Tyr down." Terence said before heading back to Tyr and lowering him to the ground. "Without your aid I never would have been freed. I would thank you and apologize to you." Tyr said with gratitude. "Apologize for what?" Terence asked. "Long have I shown disdain for humans; your people seemed weak and fearful to me. But now it is humans who are rescuing the gods of Asgard. You have shown yourselves corageous and worthy of my respect." Tyr explained. "No problem. We're just trying to help." Terence responded. "Allow me to create this portal to aid you in your travels. And now I must be off to see what can be done to save Asgard. Until we meet again!" Tyr said as the portal appeared and he disappeared. Terence took the portal back to Balder. But when he got there, he met both Enchantress and her bodyguard Skurge, aka The Executioner. "Foolish humans. You may have freed Tyr and Heimdall, but you'll not save Balder. I'll see him die before I let him go." said Enchantress. "And I would be more than happy to carry out that death sentence." added Executioner. "Ah. My dear Executioner, where would I be without you?" Enchantress asked. "Enchantress, what's Dr. Doom doing in Asgard?" Terence asked. "I believe one of you knows...or at least he suspects. But he isn't talking, is he?" Enchantress answers, hinting that someone within the team knew exactly what Doom was planning and didn't want to say anything about it. "What are you talking about? Someone on our team knows Doom's plan?" Terence asked, clearly surprised and skeptical of what Enchantress had said. "Oh, yes, he knows it very well. Not that it will do him any good. The wheels that are now in motion cannot be stopped." Enchantress answered. "I grow tired of their incessant babbling, Enchantress. Let me destroy them." Executioner said, clearly looking to put his axe to work. "Not so fast, my pet. Let us destroy them together." Enchantress retorted before the fight began.
During the battle, Terence discovered Enchantress' power to put men under her control with her feminine wiles. But with enough time and effort, both her and her "pet" were dealt with. "Well done, my friend! You have defeated the Enchantress and the Executioner. I would not have thought it possible." Balder said, impressed by Terence's feat. "Are you okay, Balder?" Terence asked. "I can still stand, so I am well enough to begin the fight anew. Let Loki beware, for he has now truly earned my wrath!" Balder responded. "Do you think you can free Asgard?" Terence asked, though he knew Tyr and Heimdall would help him. " 'Twill not be an easy fight for sure, but I will rally the gods and we will unshackle the beloved city of Asgard." Balder responded confidently. "Good luck, Balder." Terence said. "I thank you again, humans. All of Asgard is in your debt. Now, onward to battle!" Balder responded before teleporting away. With that, Terence returned to Valhalla. "Now that the Bifrost Bridge is open and the gods have been freed in Asgard, we can turn our attention to locating Odin." Fury said once Terence returned, indicating that the leader of Asgard was missing. "The last we heard, Odin was heading towards Niffleheim to battle the Frost Giants." he added. "Could something have happened to him?" Terence asked. "I doubt he's in trouble. But just to be sure, your next mission is to go to Niffleheim to see if Odin needs help." Fury answered. "For more information on helping Odin, talk to Lady Sif. If you want to leave right now, take the well to Niffleheim." he added.
But before he went to Niffleheim, Terence returned to the Hall of the Honored Fallen to meet with Weasel. "That password you gave me into Black Widow's account was perfect. I got all the info I need to prove she's a traitor." he said. "What did you find out?" Terence asked. "Well, sweet little Black Widow has traveled to Latveria several times in the last few weeks. And, get this, a large amount of cash was recently wired to her account. Now Fury's gotta believe she's working for Dr. Doom." Weasel explained, though the revelation shocked Terence at first, he knew there was only one thing to do. "You're right. We're gonna go talk to Fury right now." Terence responded. And before long, Fury met with several members of the team in the Hall of the Honored Fallen, away from Black Widow. "All right, I'm here. What was so important that we couldn't discuss it outside?" Fury asked, suspicious of what was going on. "Colonel Fury, we think Black Widow might be a spy for Dr. Doom." Storm answered. "We found a laptop that belonged to Black Widow back on the Helicarrier. It held detailed security information on a S.H.I.E.L.D. think tank known as The Imperium." Invisible Woman explained. "We also discovered that large amounts of money have been transferred to her bank account, and she has recently made trips to Latveria." Storm added. "Why are you spying on my personnel when you should be focusing on the Masters of Evil?" Fury asked, clearly unhappy about what was being said. "What's wrong with you, Fury? Didn't you hear a word they said? The Black Widow's sellin' the Imperium to Doom." Wolverine responded. "You've got it all wrong. Doom broke into The Imperium a month ago and stole some very top secret plans. Black Widow had that laptop because she'd been given the job of upgrading the security there." Fury said, revealing the REAL reason why Black Widow had that laptop back on the U.N.N. Alpha. "But what about the money and the trips to Latveria?" Invisible Woman asked. "I had sent her to Latveria in hopes of bribing one of Doom's people to get back a particular plan he stole." Fury answered. "What is so important about this particular plan, Colonel?" Storm asked. "It's called Operation: All-Father. It was developed in the case the Asgardians ever beame a threat to us. It dealt with stealing Odin's power by using the Twilight Sword." Fury explained, bringing a total shock to Terence, as he realized that everything Doom had did up to that point was so he could steal the power of Thor's own father. "So that's what Doom's been up to? He's out to become the most powerful god in Asgard? And you knew all along?" Wolverine asked. "I was never completely sure." Fury answered. "Well, I think you can be now. I only hope we didn't find out too late." Invisible Woman said. "Agreed. We had best get to Niffleheim quickly and save Odin before Doom is able to complete his scheme." Storm concurred.
Terence knew that everything that had happened all led to that moment. The break in at the Imperium to steal the plan for Operation: All-Father, the attack on the helicarrier to draw security away from the Omega Base to allow Doom's forces to steal the Mutant Amplifier, the distraction in Atlantis and the wild goose chase to the Valley of Spirits to allow Nightcrawler and Jean Grey to be kidnapped, Jean Grey being sent to Murderworld as a distraction while Nightcrawler had the Mutant Amplifier used on him, the deal with Mephisto for the Twilight Sword, and the attack on Asgard. "So THAT'S what Enchantress meant! Fury suspected Doom was following the plan for Operation: All-Father so he could become a god! That means there's no time for anymore talking. I have to get to Niffleheim fast, and pray that Odin wasn't struck by that sword." Terence said with newfound determination as he jumped into the well to Niffleheim. Right on cue, another cutscene played, showing Doom and his forces discussing what was about to take place. "The final phase of our plan is about to commence. The attack on the Omega Base, the kidnapping of the X-man and our dealings with Mephisto have all led up to this moment. I would remind you that failure is not an option." Doom told his four trusted partners. "You worry too much, my good Doctor. We are more than prepared to achieve our ultimate goal." Mordo responded. "And you worry too little. How often have we all had victory firmly in our grasp only to have it snatched away by the heroes?" Doom retorted. "You do realize, Baron Mordo, that the price of failure will be the wrath of Odin. Are you prepared for that?" Loki pointed out. "No...no, I don't suppose I am." Mordo responded, knowing full well what Odin was capable of. "None of us are. It would be a fate worse than death." Enchantress added. "And that is why we must be absolutely certain we are willing to do what must be done for success." Doom added further. "Fear not, Dr. Doom. I am prepared for whatever challenges we meet." Mordo said confidently. "As am I. Just knowing the rewards that await us makes it all worth while." Ultron added. "Of that you have no fear, Ultron. Everyone will get what's coming to them." Doom responded before Terence regained control and found himself in Niffleheim, but was quickly confronted by an old woman.
"So you've returned, eh? Well I've nothing left to steal, so leave me in peace." she said. "We're not thieves, if that's what you're implying. We're here to find Odin. Have you seen him?" Terence responded. "He did pass through here on his way to battle. I don't know who he fought, but the very ground shook from the force of the blows. It has recently grown silent and I fear all is not well for Odin." the old woman answered. "Who are you?" Terence asked. "I am Volla, prophetess of Asgard. I believe you when you say you do not have my ring, but should you find it, I would gladly tell your fortune." Volla answered. "Okay, if we come across your ring, we'll return it to you." Terence said before Volla disappeared. After some looking around, Terry found a Dark Elf and a Rock Troll guarding a trunk. "We certainly showed Volla, didn't we, Kurse?" asked the troll, known as Ulik. "Yes, but I would not be too proud. Volla never told us where the key was to unlock this trunk." Kurse answered. "Give me a boulder and we'll have no need for a key." Ulik responded. "So you're the ones who stole from Volla. What's the matter? No babies around her to take candy from?" Terence quipped, once more trying to be like Spider-Man. "What are you doing, humans? Don't tell me you're here to help Odin?" Kurse asked. "The gods must truly be defeated to need allies such as these." Ulik said with a laugh. "We'll show you what defeated is all about, Ulik." Terence responded. "You would dare to challenge us? How utterly insane." Kurse said before the fight began.
Neither the elf nor the troll stood a chance against the brave Terrence. "Now that we're done with Ulik and Kurse, we can try to open that chest. But they said it needed a key. Let's look around and see what we can find." Terence said before doing so. After some looking, he found it. "Ah, this must be the key to the chest Ulik and Kurse had. Let's get back there and try to open it." Terence said before managing to do so. "It worked; the chest is open. Look, there's a ring inside." Terence said, knowing well that it was Volla's ring. "Ah, so you did find my ring. I knew there was an honest air about you." Volla said as she appeared. "It was no problem at all. Here, take your ring." Terence responded, happily. "No, you must keep it. For I see that you will need it to show you The Light." Volla said. "The light? What light?" Terence asked. "You will know when you see it. Though that success will be short lived...as will you." Volla answered. "What do you mean 'short lived'? What are you talking about?" Terence asked, puzzled by what Volla was implying. "You are all destined to die at the moment of victory." Volla responded, bringing a grim feeling upon Terence. "Are you sure? Is there any way we can avoid it?" Terence asked, hoping to reverse what fate had in store for him and his team. "I'm afraid not. You are destined to be destroyed. I have foreseen it." Volla answered before disappearing yet again. Though Terence was unsure as to why Volla forseen his death before he could achieve victory, he ventured forth anyway and took down more foes that stood in his way. Then, to his horror, he found the Twilight Sword, broken in two. "Look, here's the Twilight Sword. This is what Mephisto traded to Doom in return for leaing us into Mephisto's Realm." Terence said before calling out to Lady Sif. "Sif, we've located the Twilight Sword but it's broken and there's destruction all around." he said grimly. "This does not bode well at all. The sword must have been used on Odin. And if that happened..." she responded. "You must move with all haste. Locate Odin - he is no doubt now the prisoner of Loki and Dr. Doom." Sif continued. "What will they do to him? Terence asked. "I could not hazard a guess. But do not tarry, Odin's life is most likely in danger." Sif answered.
With that, Terence headed on, hoping to rescue Odin before anything could happen. But standing in that path was a massive being of ice. "Fear me, pitiful creatures. For no one can match the might of Ymir, the King of the Frost Giants." he bellowed. "What's happened to Odin?" Terence asked. "That petty tyrant has been defeated and is now in the control of Dr. Doom. What a battle that was! The look upon Odin's face will long be a treasured memory." Ymir answered with a laugh. "Where have they taken Odin?" Terence asked. "To the top of Raven's Spire, there Loki will seek out the invincible Destroyer Armor, then he will rule Asgard. What a glorious day this is for my people!" Ymir answered proudly. "This day isn't over yet, Ymir." Terence retorted. "It is for you little ones. It is for you." Ymir responded before the battle began. It was obvious there was no way that Terence would be able to fight Ymir on equal ground, but he got an idea from the other Frost Giants that he summoned out. "If I can hit Ymir enough times with one of those spears his fellow Frost Giants are carrying, I might be able to take him down." Terence tried the idea and it worked, four times. Afterwards, he headed towards Raven's Spire and found Baron Mordo and Ultron left out and left behind. "This is an outrage! How dare Loki and Doom leave us behind! I'll not stand for it!" Mordo bellowed. "This is not an unforeseen outcome. They now each get what they desire without having to share the spoils with us." Ultron rationalized. "We'll just see about that. All we have to do is guess which spear is truly Odin's. That will open the barrier." Mordo said. "Can you use your power of mind control to get the elf to choose for us?" Ultron asked. "it is all too simplre for the Master of Magic. Go, elf. Choose a spear for your master Baron Mordo." responded the Baron. However, the elf chose the wrong spear and was immediately destroyed. "An unfortunate outcome." Ultron stated. "What's wrong? Outlived your usefulness to Loki and Doom?" Terence asked. "How did you get here? You shouldn't have been able to cross the bridge!" Mordo said in shock. "Evidence suggests differently. Let us battle them!" Ultron said before said battle began.
Both opponents soon fell. "Well, they're out of the way. But to get to Odin, we're going to hae to open that barrier. And to do that we have to chose the correct spear of Odin." Terence said before he saw one of the spears glowing. "Look, that spear is glowing. It must have something to do with Volla's ring. Didn't she say the ring would show us The Light?" he asked himself. And so, Terence chose the glowing spear, sparing his life. "At least this spear didn't kill us. Let's use it on the barrier." he said before doing so. And with the barrier down, the path to the top of Raven's Spire was clear and he soon met Loki at the top. "My, my, my, what an unexpected surprise. But don't you know it's not safe up here on Raven's Peak...at least not for the likes of you." Loki said upon seeing Terence's team. "You've got nowhere to run, Loki. Hand over Odin now." Terence demanded. "Sorry, but I'm not exactly sure what's happened to Daddy dearest. You see, Dr. Doom has him." Loki responded. "Then what are you doing here?" Terence asked. "I seek the take control of the Destroyer Armor. But I require the four god-swords to free it fomr its prison of ice." Loki explained, confirming what Ymir had said. "What's the Destroyer Armor?" Terence asked. "It is a magical shell created by Odin. The wearer's consciousness is pulled inside, leaving their body outside, in a frozen state. The Destroyer Armor is so powerful that even the mighty Thor cannot defeat it." Loki answered. "Then we'll just have to stop you before you succeed." Terence responded. "I invite you to do your best, but know this - I will possess the Destroyer Armor!" Loki said, clearly not looking to have his ultimate triumph over taking over Asgard slip away from him.
After Loki fell, Terence radioed Colonel Fury. "We did it, Colonel Fury. We defeated Loki. But do you know anything about the Destroyer Armor? It seemed very important to Loki." he said. "No. Any knowledge you gain would be helpful." Fury responded. "Why don't we bring the armor back to Valhalla with us?" Terence asked, hoping to keep it out of the wrong hands. "And could you talk to Lady Sid? Maybe she could open portals the the god-swords needed to free the armor." he added. "Alright. Fury, out." Fury responded. In no time, with the Destroyer Armor in tow, Terence returned to Valhalla. "Welcome back." Fury said upon his arrival. "Hi, Colonel Fury. Did you talk to Sif and have her open portals to where the god-swords are?" Terence asked. "Affirmative." Fury answered. "Great. Once we've freed the Destroyer Armor from the ice, we should be able to use it to help us defeat Dr. Doom." Terence said. "Good luck. And watch yourselves." Fury responded, but something seemed off to Terence. He saw that Fury was the only other soul in the Hall of the Honored Fallen. With that suspicious feeling, Terence headed off and gathered the four god-swords and used them to free the Destroyer Armor. "That's it! The Destroyer Armor is free!" Terence said with pride. "You did an excellent job." Fury responded. But suddenly, right then and there, Fury transformed into Loki. "Thank you for doing what I could never have done alone." he said with a smile. "Loki! What just happened?" Terence asked. "You should know by now that deception is my greatest weapon. You never teleported back to Valhalla - you're in a land of my making." Loki answered, clearly living up to his title as the god of mischief. "So you tricked us!" Terence shouted. "Yes. And now I will take possession of the Destroyer Armor and crush the life from you!" Loki responded as the battle began again, this time with Loki controlling the Destroyer Armor.
The Destroyer Armor proved to be much stronger than Terence thought, so Terence had to search through the four portals within the area to find Loki's frozen body. And so, after getting the armor to unleash its ultimate attack, Loki was finally defeated. "Loki's finally beaten. It's a lucky thing the Destroyer Armor's energy burst could hurt him, even through that magical shell." Terence said with relief. "Come on, let's see if we can save Odin before Dr. Doom completes his plan." he added. But upon exiting the room, he was face to face with the doctor himself. "Ah, how fortune must favor you. It should have been impossible for you to have defeated the Destroyer Armor." he said. "Dr. Doom, what have you done with Odin?" Terence demandingly asked. "I did exactly as the plan I stole from S.H.I.E.L.D. had specified. I took Odin's body to Raven's Spire and, using arcane spells, I stole his power." Doom answered. "So now you have the magic of Odin?" Terence asked with worry and shock. "Yes. I now control the absolute power of the mightiest god in Asgard. The universe is mine for the taking." Doom answered. "I don't know how, but we'll find some way to beat you." Terence retorted with determination. "Not this time. My triumph will be absolute, for now I will consign you to the eternal darkness of oblivion!" Doom declared before using his newfound power to seemingly kill Terence. However, Terence found that he had just lost control as a cutscene began.
"Am I dead? Why does heaven smell like a wet dog?" Spider-Man asked as he looked around before finding that the smell was coming from Wolverine. "Oh, wait, nevermind." he quipped, to Wolverine's annoyance. Soon, he, Wolvy, Cap and Thor were confronted by a large bald being. "I am Uatu, the Watcher. I prevented your deaths, for you are needed to save this universe. Listen closely mortals..." the being said before showing just what was going on. "Dr. Doom's unrestrained use of Odin's power will soon tear the fabric of reality beyond repair." Uatu explained before the vision faded. "I have broken my sacred vow to only observe so that I may give you this one chance to save your world." he added. "Who can stand against the power of Odin? Even the gods of mighty Asgard have fallen." Thor pointed out, knowing his father was powerful beyond belief. "Doom's power seems unlimited, but you must know a way to stop him." Cap said. "Yes. There is a chance. But it will be difficult." Uatu answered before showing them what must be done through another vision. "First, you must obtain the M'Kraan Crystal, a Shi'ar gem of fantastic power. Next, you must acquire another object of great power, and it will take all your strength and skill. You must face the world eater known as Galactus." he explained. In no time, Terence found himself someplace new. "Greetings, I am Uatu, the Watcher. And this is Attilan, the moon based home of the Inhumans." the massive being said as Terence and the rest of his team arrived. "What are we doing here? Didn't Doom kill us?" Terence asked, remembering what happened after defeating Loki. "He believes he has but I saved you at the last possible moment." Uatu answered. "Not to seem ungrateful, but why?" Terence asked, puzzled, knowing that Uatu's vow was to only observe the goingson of both Earth and the Solar System. "Though I have vowed to never interfere with Earthly affairs, the danger is too great for me to stand idly by. Dr. Doom's misuse of Odin's power is tearing the fabric of reality. And you are the only ones who can defeat him." Uatu answered. "What can we do against Doom if he's as powerful as a god?" Terence asked. "You must steal Odin's powers away from him. And to do that you must acquire two items from the vast reaches of outer space. The first item needed is a shard of the M'Kraan Crystal, located in the Shi'ar Empire. For more information on this mission, talk to the one called Black Widow. Should you wish to leave immediately, talk to the creature known as Lockjaw." Uatu explained. Soon enough, Terence got to explore his new base.
Afterwards, Terence went up to Lockjaw and began a cutscene. "You'll be traveling to the Shi'ar Empire for this next mission. It's located in a galaxy in another part of our universe. Once there, you'll need to lay hands on a shard of the M'Kraan Crystal." Fury explained. "Will the Shi'ar be willing to part with it?" Cap asked. "The crystal is very important to the Shi'ar, but we're good friends with their ruler, Lilandra. I don't think she'll mind giving it to us, especially once she learns how important it is in stopping Dr. Doom." Storm answered. "You X-Men are pretty well connected. You've even got buddies in other galaxies." Spider-Man said, clearly impressed. "Xavier's the one who's close to Lilandra. They used to be good friends...really good friends, if ya catch my meaning." Wolverine responded, hinting that Professor X and Lilandra were possibly lovers. "Guess that means Lilandra's not gonna be some wrinkled old prune of a queen." Spidey quipped. "Ya can say that again, bub." Wolverine responded. "What is the Shi'ar Empire?" Cap asked. "It's an ancient kingdom that spans entire galaxies and consists of thousands of different civilizations." Storm explained. "Are they peaceful?" Cap aksed, somewhat wary. "They've had their preiods of upheaval, usually due to struggles within the royal family, but for the most part yes." Storm answered. "What exactly is this M'Kraan Crystal?" Thor asked. "It houses a gateway to a universe filled with neutron stars. The power available there is beyond measure." Storm answered. "I can see how that would be useful in defeating Dr. Doom." Thor said. "Alright then, get to Shi'ar and locate Lilandra as fast as you can. Once you've convinced her to give you the crystal, get back here pronto. Good luck." Fury said.
Soon, Terence found himself on the flagship of the Shi'ar empirial fleet. But once aboard, he quickly came underfire from a Shi'ar trooper, only for the soldier to be dispatched by another heroic being. "Well, well, well, what brings my fellow man to this distant glaxy?" he asked. "Corsair! What are you doing here?" Terence asked. "Don't you know? There's been a coup - Deathbird has taken the throne from her sister Lilandra." Corsair explained. "Great. We came to ask Lilandra for a shard of the M'Kraan Crystal." Terence said, clearly not happy about the circumstances explained. "Then you should be very motivated to see Lilandra back on the throne, because Deathbird certainly won't give you anything...other than life in prison." Corsair responded. But right then and there, one of the airlock force fields turns off, sending a Shi'ar fighter jet into the vacuum of space beneath. "Hold on!" Corsair shouted as he got the airlock force field back up. "Remember, the only way to activate a foce field is to find the console that operates it." the stalward hero explained. "Thanks, Corsair. But tell me, what are you here?" Terence responded. "Lilandra's a good friend of mine. And when a friend's in need, I make it a practice to lend a hand. Cause heaven knows there's been times when I needed help. Now come on, I can see you kids are gonna need a little help so I'll travel a ways with you. Our first order of business is to get across this fighter bay in one piece." Corsair answered. In no time, the group started making their way across. But after quite a bit of traversing the fighter bay, two more force fields shut off. But thankfully, Terence managed to get them both on. Soon, they reached the end of the fighter bay. "Well, my friends, this is where we part ways." Corsair said. "But we thought you'd help us through the rest of the ship." Terence said, slightly disappointed. "I wish I could, but I have other things to attend to. But I'll tell you waht - if you'll be willing to carry out a few objectives for me, I'll be happy to walk you through the ship over the radio." Corsair responded. "Sounds good to us." Terence said with a smile. "Great. Your first order of business will be to stop this ship. I'll be in touch with you when you get to engineering. Watch your back, my friends." Corsair said before Terence headed off.
After a lot of traveling and traversing and fighting plenty of Shi'ar guards, Terence entered a chamber that powered the ship's light speed capabilities before he came upon a massive Strontian known as Kallark, aka Gladiator. "Iceman, out of respect for the X-Men I give you this once chance to go. I do not wish to harm you or your friends." he said, hoping to take the peaceful route. "Have you gone mental? What are you doing theatening us when you should be helping Lilandra?" Iceman asked. "Though it pains me, I am honor bound to serve the Empress of Shi'ar - and Deathbird is now the Empress. She has ordered that I destroy all invaders." Gladiator admitted. "But Deathbird's the invader not us!" Iceman retorted. "The battle for the throne is over and Lilandra lost. I'll ask you one last time, Iceman. Please leave this ship or I shall be forced to use violence." Gladiator said sternly. "You don't scare us, Gladiator. Even if you can fly through the center of a star." Iceman nervously responded. "This saddens me, but I have no choice. Prepare to defend yourselves!" Gladiator said before the battle began. It took a lot ingenuity, but Gladiator finally fell. "Well, whatever you people did worked; the ship's dropped out of light speed. Now find the airlock that leads outside the ship." Corsair said over the radio. Soon, Terence did find the airlock Corsair mentioned.
"Wow, you weren't kidding, Corsair. These atmospheric fields really work in outer space." Terence said as he found that the air was breathable. "Isn't technology a wonderful thing? Now, you've got two objectives here. One is to find the communication dish and send a message to starships that are still friendly to Lilandra. Have them come to this location and protect her." Corsair responded. "What's our other objective?" Terence asked. "You have to destroy the battery of guns near your location. That will protect the friendly ships that appear in response to your message." Corsair answered. And so, after thanking Corsair, Terence headed on, but quickly found himself confronted by another adversary; a being named Starbolt. "Go no further, humans. I am Starbolt, a member of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. You stand in defiance of Empress Deathbird." ordered Starbolt. "Deathbird isn't the Empress. She stol the throne from Lilandra." Terence retorted. "I know. I was one of the guards who helped her gain power. And I have no intention of lettiner her lose it." Starbolt responded, admitting that he was partially responsible for Deathbird being on the throne. "You can't win, Starbolt. You're alone out here." Terence said. "Which is exactly how we wanted it to appear. Warstar, attack!" Starbolt responded. And in no time, a massive robot appeared behind Terrence before the fight began. It wasn't easy, considering that one of the two was a machine, but they both fell.
Afterwards, Terence came across the guns Corsair was talking about. "Okay, you should be near those guns. To destroy them you need to take down their force fields." Corsair said as soon as Terry approached. "How do we do that?" Terence asked. "You need to locate the console that controls the force field. They should be easy to spot - they're protected by a clear covering." Corsair answered. In no time, the force fields were down. "Geat, you've lowered the force fields. Now you can take out those guns." Corsair said as soon as it happened. In moments, three of said guns were taken out, but Terry quickly came across the communication dish Corsair mentioned. "This must be the communication dish Corsair wanted us to send a message through. First we have to turn it in the right direction." Terence said before doing so. "That did the trick. Now the message has been sent. Starships friendly to Lilandra will be on their way here." Corsair said happily. With that, Terence took out the remaining guns. "Hey, hey, you did good work. You got 'em all. Now when those ships come to help Lilandra, they won't be easy targets." Corsair said before Terence headed down to the Observation deck. Once inside, he came across two more members of the Imperial Guard, one of them being a Stygian. "Neutron, it appears the reports of humans onboard ship are true. I would not have believed them capable of getting his far." the female warrior said with a hint of surprise. "Nor I, Hussar. Humans are such inferior creatures." Neutron concurred. "Who are you?" Terence asked. "We are Imperial Guards loyal to Empress Deathbird." Neutron answered. "Yes, without the help of the Imperial Guard, she never would have gained power." Hussar concurred. "Did the entire Imperial Guard turn traitor to Lilandra?" Terence asked in disbelief. "No, most of them were fools who wouldn't listen to reason. Luckily, Guardian is loyal to the throne rather than a person." Hussar answered. "But we could have dealt with even the mighty Guardian, just as we're going to deal with you now." Neutron added before fists started flying.
Once both of them were dealt with, Terence made his way towards the so-called 'empress' of the Shi'ar Empire herself, Cal'syee Neramani, aka Deathbird. "Vile intruders! How dare you enter my throne room! I'll have your heads for this." she bellowed angrily. "Deathbird, what have you done with Lilandra?" Terence asked demandingly. "My dear, dear sister is being questioned. And once we arrive at the home world, she will be placed on trial for her crimes against the Empire and then executed." Deathbird explained. "Sounds like you've got it all worked out." Terence responded, knowing full well that what Deathbird described was a kangaroo trial. "Indeed I do, humans. I've spent months planning my rise to power; and I'm not about to lose it now. So with the aid of the M'Kraan Crystal I will destroy you - the last vestiges of defiance to my absolute authority!" the mad queen responded before the fight began. Considering that Deathbird could fly, the fight wasn't equal. But Terence managed and brought Deathbird down the hard way. "Impossible! You've not only defeated my Imperial Guard - you've defeated me!" Deathbird said in disbelief, knowing her reign as empress was slipping away. "We don't want any more trouble, Deathbird. Tell us where Lilandra is." Terence demanded. "Never! I am the Empress! Kneel before me!" Deathbird bellowed. "The throne isn't rightfully yours. It's Lilandra's." Terence retorted. "You lie! If I am to be denied then I will stop dear sister as well - by destroying this entire ship." Deathbird said with a hint of insanity. "We have to stop Deathbird! She must be going to set off some type of self-destruct mechanism." Terence said, knowing the consequences if she wasn't stopped would mean certain doom for Lilandra and the Earth.
Following Deathbird, Terence saw what she had just did. Which was starting the self-destruct sequence of the ship. Terence had to work fast to save the ship, Lilandra and the M'Kraan Crystal, and soon found a way to buy himself some time. "Look, a power node! Quick, smash it! That should buy us a little more time!" Terence told his team. But the destruction of that node wasn't enough, so Terence looked around for more power nodes to smash. During his search, he wound up finding Princess Lilandra. "Humans! What are you doing here?" she asked. "We've come to save you." Terence explained. "Forget about me, there's no time. You have to save the ship." Lilandra responded. "But you won't last much longer in that torture chamber!" Terence retorted. "My life is not important. There are thousands of others who need you to stop the self-destruct mechanism!" Lilandra said. But being the brave hero he was, Terence decided to rescue Lilandra anyway. "While I appreciate the effort, you shouldn't have saved me. Now you've doomed the entire ship." Lilandra said somberly. "We couldn't just let you die. And don't think Deathbird's won yet; we'll stop her." Terence responded. "I wish I could believe you. But our time is almost up." Lilandra said grimly. "Then we'd better get going. Take care, Lilandra." Ternece said before heading off to get destroy the other nodes. Once they were destroyed, he confronted Deathbird once more. "So you think you can best me, eh, humans? Well, you're far too late. The self-destruct timer has been activated." said the former and defeated empress. "Deathbird, this is useless. You've lost the throne. Killing everyone aboard this ship will gain you nothing." Terence responded, hoping to talk some sense into her. "That's where you're wrong. By destroying the ship, I'll have a little vengeance. Now to smash this console so there's no way for you to shut if off." Deathbird retorted. "Now you're doomed to die too, Deathbird." Terence said after Deathbird destroyed said console. "Fools! I always have an escape plan!" Deathbird responded. "Sure didn't see that coming." Terence said as soon as she disappeared. "We're gonna have to shut down the self-destruct mechanism by smashing the laster emitters. Let's go!" Terence told his team. And in no time, the task was done and the ship was saved.
Afterwards, Lilandra came to Terence and his team. "You truly are an amazing group of humans. Thank you for saving me and my ship. The Shi'ar Empire is in your debt." said the grateful princess. "It was no trouble at all. But we would ask a favor of you." Terence said. "Name your reward. No payment is too great for what you have done today." Lilandra responded. "Dr. Doom is threatening to destroy the Earth and possibly the universe. The only way we can stop him is with a shard of the M'Kraan Crystal." Terence explained. "Then by all means, when you find the M'Kraan Crystal, you may help yourself to a shard of it." Lilandra responded. Once Terry found the M'Kraan Crysal, he broke off a shard. "Well done. You now possess the first item needed to defeat Dr. Doom. Lockjaw will now create a portal that you may use anytime to return to our base on Attilan." Uatu said once Terry had the shard. And so, Terence used said portal and returned to Attilan. "You did well. Obtaining the M'Kraan Crystal under those conditions was quite impressive." Uatu said upon Terry's arrival. "Well it isn't every day we have to save an Empire in order to save the Earth." the brave hero said confidently. "Yes, but there is still one item you must obtain - the Muonic Inducer. It is the device Galactus uses to assimilate the energy of a planet when he devours it." the Watcher responded. "Where will we find Galactus?" Terence asked, though worried that he'd have to battle against the biggest being in the Marvel Universe. "He is about to attack a planet populated by the Skrull; a race who has long sought to conquer the Earth. If you wish to leave now, see the dog Lockjaw. Or should you desire additional information, talk to the Black Widow." Uatu answered.
After discovering one of the Inhumans, mainly Medusa, had been transformed by Dr. Doom into an evil servant of the mad tyrant while looking for a device known as the Ultimate Nullifier, which indicated just what Doom was doing on Earth, Terence headed off to his next mission, to the Skrull homeworld, after a cutscene began. "You're about to be sent to the homeworld of the Skrull. There you need to steal a device called the Muonic Inducer from Galactus, who is presently attacking the Skrull planet" Fury instructed. "Why is Galactus at war with the Skrull?" Cap asked. "He's not. Galactus is there to consume the planet." Fury responded. "Whoa. This dude eats planets? I gotta get a picture of that." Spider-Man said in disbelief, thinking Galactus was capable of eating a planet whole. "He doesn't really eat them; he has machines that convert the planet into energy he can absorb. One of those devices is the Muonic Inducer." Fury clarifyed, revealing just what Galactus was capable of doing to a single planet. "I wouldn't think ol' Galactus is gonna be too happy with us trying to steal one of his toys." Spidey pointed out. "No, he won't be. Which is why I'd strongly advice against any confrontation with him. Galactus is one of the most powerful beings we've ever encountered." Fury responded. "That would explain why he feeds off entire planets." Storm pointed out. "But how does he choose which worlds to consume?" she asked. "He has a herald for that a scout who determines which planet's next on the menu." Fury answered. "Well at least we can count on the Skrull to help us out." Cap said. "Not neccessarily. The Skrull are a war-like people who've attacked the Earth several times before. They'll most likely see you as enemies." Fury quickly retorted. "Wonderful. So if Mr. Universe doesn't completely crush us, the Skrull will be happy to finish the job." Spidey quipped. "Yes. Is that a problem?" Fury asked. "No. Just wanted to make sure what the teams are." Spidey responded, jokingly. "Well, good. Now get movin'." Fury said, clearly annoyed with Spidey's attempt to be funny.
Soon enough, Terence found himself on the Skrull homeworld. "Team you now stand on the Skrull homeworld. The are an alien culture who've tried to enslave humanity several times. They'll attack you but remember your primary goal is to locate Galactus so you can take his Muonic Inducer." Fury said. "We understand, Colonel." Terence responded before heading on. After fighting through some of Galactus' foot soldiers and some of the Skrull, Terence came across something. "Team, it appears you're near a set of Magnetic Shield Generators that Galactus uses. These devices convert the planet's magnetic field into a shielf that he uses to protect himself. On the off-chance you'll have to face Galactus, it'd be in your best interest to take down these generators." Fury said. "Okay, Colonel Fury. We'll see what we can do." Terence said before destroying the generator. All the generators were soon destroyed as Terence moved on. But once in the Aeronautics building, Ternece came across two familiar looking Skrull, Paibok the Power Skrull and Kl'rt, aka Super-Skrull, the only Skrull with all the powers of the Fantastic Four. "What are you doing here, humans? Are you the ones who brough Galactus down upon our world?" Super-Skrull asked suspiciously. "No. We're actually here to take something from Galactus." Terence answered, hoping not to get into a fight with, unquestionably, the superior to the Fantastic Four. "Why they are here doesn't matter. Let's destroy them anyway." Paibok said, clearly not in the mood to talk. "Agreed, Paibok. They will be forever the enemy." Super-Skrull concurred. But before fists could fly, someone interupted. That someone being the Skrull Empress "Stay your hand, my brave warriors. We may have use for these creatures. Humans, I propose a bargain." said the empress. "What kind of a bargain?" Terence asked suspiciously. "If you truly are here to battle Galactus, then you will require knowledge that I alone possess - knowledge of a weakness of the planet eater." the empress answered. "In return for this knowledge all I ask is that you open the main hangar door so that my ship can escape the destruction of this planet." she added. "Alright, we'll open the hanger doors - but that knowledge you give us better be worth it." Terence reluctantly responded. "Trust me, humans, your lives depend on it. And as a token of good faith I'll allow you to take either Paibok or Super-Skrull as a guide. You choose." the empress said.
And so, with Super-Skrull by his side, Terence got the hangar bay doors open for the empress. "There - the hangar doors are open. Now to go back and talk to the Skrull Empress." Terence said, though wary this whole deal could just be a trick. "So you still live? You humans are more resourceful than I'd thought." said the empress once Terry returned. "Yes. Now it's time to keep your part of the bargain - tell us what you know about Galactus. What's his weakness?" Terence said. "Fools! You should already know that Galactus has no weakness. With the thousands of civilizations he's faced, do you think he'd still be alive today if he was not invincible?" the empress retorted. "You lied to us?" Terence asked, unsurprised. "Yes, and I'm also going to have you destroyed. Super-Skrull, Paibok...attack!" the empress responded. "Paibok, Super-Skrull. You're going to let her get away like this?" Terence asked, knowing she was going to leave them anyway. "The Empress is wise and just. We are honor bound to obey her." Paibok answered. "Yes, and we now have the privilege of carrying out her order to kill the humans." Super-Skrull concurred as her majesty took off. The fight was intense, but both Skrull warriors fell. Once Terence left the building, he soon saw Galactus stomping through the city. "WOAH. Galactus is probably the BIGGEST villain I've ever seen!" Terence said to himself as he stared at the monolithic sized being. After a little ways, Terence come across another Galactus owned device. "Colonel Fury, what's this device we're looking at?" Terance asked. "That's an Optronic Drill. Galactus uses them to bore into a planet's crust in preparation for its consumption." Fury explained. "So if we destroy the drills, we'll save the planet?" Terry asked. "Yes, but it's not a priority. Besides, the Skrulls are going to continue to attack you regardless of what you do." Fury answered. "We may lend them a helping hand whether they want it or not." Terry retorted before destroying the drill. As he headed forward, Terence attacked the second Optronic Drill. "We did it! With all the drills destroyed, the Skrull planet is saved. Now let's get back to our original mission and locate the Muonic Inducer." Terence said with pride. However, the joy ended because he soon came under the gaze of Galactus, which was the last thing he wanted to have happen.
"What? Who dares to interfere with the mighty Glactus? Mere humans are beneath my notice. Punishers, dispatch these interlopers immediately! I have more important matters to attend to." the monolithic being bellowed before his forces went on the attack. Once they were dealt with, Terence made his way into a building that housed genetic Skrull experiments, including one of the subjects for the Super Skrull project that resulted in Kl'rt getting the powers of the Fantastic Four, Titannus. "Humans on a Skrull world? No doubt you've come to try to save my kinsmen. Well don't waste your time - they're not worth saving." he said. "Why are you so angry at your people?" Terence asked. "They forced me into the Skuper Skrull program where I was tortured with medical procedures and drugs. The pain I endured was more than any creature should have to suffer." Titannus explained. "Okay so you're angry at the scientists, but why destroy the whole planet?" Terence asked, confused as to why he'd rather see the whole planet, if not the entires Skrull race, be destroyed. "They are all guilty, all of them! Now stand aside, weaklings; I will not be denied my vengeance!" Titannus angrily shouted before going on a rampage. Thankfully, Terence managed to stop him. Soon, Terence exited the building, but found himself in the visual range of Galactus once more. "Pitiful humans, I've had enough of your insolence. Prepare to face the might of Galactus!" he bellowed. "We've got to get out of here! Galactus is too big for us to tackle alone." Terence told his team before the whole group ran for their lives. But soon, they found themselves cornered. But all was not lost, for who should come to their rescue, none other than the former herald of Galactus, Norrin Radd, aka the Silver Surfer.
"My friends, Colonel Fury sent me to aid you in battling my old master. But first, allow me to use the Power Cosmic to heal you." he said. "Thanks for fixing us up, Silver Surfer. But what can we do against Galactus? He's unstoppable." Terence responded. "True, he is mighty, but if we work together, we can slow him down. Three of his machines are nearby. If you reconfigure them to malfunction, it should cause a feedback loop that will render Galactus unconscious." Silver Surfer explained. "But what about the Muonic Inducer? That's what we came here for." Terence pointed out. "The inducer is what powers the three machines. But you won't be able to get to it until Galactus is out of the way." Silver Surfer responded. "Okay. Thanks, Surfer." Terence said before Galactus started going on the attack. Soon, all three machines were reconfigured. "Well done, my friends. But now Galactus is preparing to unleash an energy blast. I will attempt to distract him and force it to detonate early." Surfer said, and soon enough, he did so, creating the feedback loop. "The feedback loop worked, but not enough - Galactus is still standing. You will have to reconfigure the three consoles again. Move quickly!" Surfer said afterwards. Once the machines were reconfigured, Surfer went on the attack again once Galactus attempted to fire another energy blast. After it detonated early, Terence reconfigured the machines one last time, prompting one final attempt at a successful energy blast from Galactus. "It worked! Galactus is growing weaker. But once again he is attempting to destroy us with an energy blast. I will try to distract him and cause it to detonate early." Surfer said before doing so. Soon enough, Galactus FINALLY fell. "This is quite an extraordinary occasion - one Galactus will not soon forget." Surfer said with a smile. "I think it's going to stay with us a while, too." Terence responded. "Thanks for the help, Silver Surfer. Now that you've got the Muonic Inducer, it's time we brough you people home." Colonel Fury chimed in. And so, Terence returned to Attilan, tired, but triumphant.
"Very impressive. I would not have thought you'd survive an encounter with Galactus." Uatu said upon Terence's arrival. "But you must return to Earth now. Doom has grown quite adept with his new found powers. And he has shown little restraint in their use; soon he will begin to damage the very fabric of the universe. Once you are done here in Attilan, see Lockjaw. He will send you to Earth." Uatu added. And so, with no time to waste, Terence headed to Lockjaw, only for a cutscene to begin, narrated by Uatu, showing just what was happening on Earth. "Much has transpired since you were last on Earth, mankind did its best to defend itself against Doom, but even their greatest weapons were as nothing before Doom's power." he explained as Doom destroyed four missiles aimed at him and his castle before heading back into his castle, littered with the unconscious or dead bodies of the superheroes who remained on Earth, including the Incredible Hulk. "The heroes of your world also tried to stop Doom and paid the ultimate price." Uatu explained as Doom saw Peter Rasputin, aka Colossus of the X-Men, missing a right arm and right leg, tried to crawl away from Doom, clinging to what life was left inside his metal body. Right then and there, another member of the X-Men, Cyclops, attempted to attack Doom while he back was turned, only for the empowered tyrant to stop the blast and send it right back where it came from, with double the force. Colossus soon had a hand on Doom's right ankle, but he was lifted up and slammed around like a rag doll before looking Colossus in the eye, prompting the metal skinned Russian mutant to spit in his face. "Doom found he could also use his powers to corrupt. And with this discovery, Doom began corrupting your entire world." Uatu explained as Doom brought Colossus back to full strength and restored his lost arm and leg, but made him an obediant servant.
Soon, Terence found himself in Stark Tower, only now it was currupted by Doom's power. "As you can see, Doom's powers are far reaching. He's remade Stark Tower into his twisted vision of perfection. But that's not all. He's changed New York, as well as ever other major city on Earth. Before we can do anything else, we need to get our headquarters up and running again. Go to the power junctions and activate them." Fury said once they all appeared in the tower. In no time, the power junctions were activated. "That takes care of the last power junction, Colonel Fury. Go ahead and activate the main switch." Terence said. Fury soon did so. "Good. We're back in business." Fury said, but right then and there, corrupted suits of Iron Man armor burst through the window and attacked. "What the blazes?! Doom must know we're here!" Fury shouted as the suits of armor landed, only for Fury to shoot them down with a laugh. "It's like shootin' fish in a barrel!" said the trigger happy Colonel. However, one suit of armor snuck up from behind and captured him. "Target acquired. Return to Castle Doom." said the armor before it and its fellow suits of armor broke into the Iron Man lab with their captive. "Those robots kidnapped Fury! We have to save him!" Terence shouted before he ran after them. Once inside the lab, Terence found Fury taking down his captors. "It's gonna take a lot more than a couple of cheap toys to take me down." Fury said. "Colonel Fury, I show multiple bogies inbound." Hank said over the radio. "More of Doom's troops?" Fury asked. "Yes. There's an army of them headed your way. But if you give me some time, I should be able to set up an EMP pulse that will take care of them." Hank answered. "Roger that. Hank, contain them by locking this room down. Don't oopen up until we've destroyed every last one of them." Fury ordered. "Will do." Hank responded. "Alright, team. I hope you're ready for a little party because it looks like we have a few guests to entertain." Fury said before more corrupted Iron Man suits came bursting in. But soon enough, the EMP pulse went off, stopping the suits of armor dead in their tracks.
"Yeah, I didn't realize how much I missed this. It's been too long since I've seen some real action." Fury said with a smile. "Perfect, just like I thought. The skies are clear now, not a robot to be seen anywhere." Hank said, equally pleased. "Good. You can open the door now, Hank. C'mon. Let's get out of here, team." Fury said before they did so. "Well, if Doom didn't know we were here before, he sure does now. And that's fine, because we're as ready as we're going to be. Dr. Pym has managed to power the Muonic Inducer with the M'Kraan Crystal. But be warned you'll have to actually touch Doom to steal some of his power. And it may take several tries." Fury said. "We have to get close to Doom? Several times? But he has the power of a god!" Terence said in disbelief. "You will too, once you steal his powers. I'd suggest you get to Latveria as soon as possible. You'll find Doom in his castle there. For more information on the mission parameters, talk to Black Widow. And when you're ready to go, let me know - I'll fly you there." Fury responded. After calibrating a magnetic dampner for Hank Pym, which would provide Terence som protection against Doom's lightning attacks, Terence headed off to Latveria. "We're going to be arriving at Doom's castle soon. Once there, you have to locate Doom and use the M'Kraan Crystal to steal his power." Fury said. "You can bet your boots Doom ain't gonna let that go without a scrap." Wolverine said. "Oh, make no mistake - you're in for the fight of your lives. But it has to be done." Fury concurred. "As predicted, tears are developing in near-Earth space because of Doom's unbridled use of power. Pretty soon even Doom won't be able to stop it." he added. "What will happen if the tears are left unchecked?" Thor asked. "The universe will unravel in a matter of months. All life will cease to exist everywhere, gone forever." Fury answered, grimly. "Wow. Not to criticize, but this mission briefing is turning into a real downer." Spider-Man said. "I don't know any other way to put it. Trillions of lives are depending on you to defeat Dr. Doom." Fury responded. "Look. I know we've had our differences over the course of this little adventure. And I know you don't agree with the way I've done some things, but as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. I can't ever afford to lose. And now you're in the same boat. You have to win this one." he added. "Not to worry, Colonel. I am prepared." Thor said confidently. "Wolverine and I are certainly ready for anything." Storm added. "Ya got that right." Wolvy concurred. "Yeah, I've always wanted to fight someone with the powers of a god." Spidey quipped. "Don't worry Colonel. We know what's riding on this. We won't fail." Cap said, resassuringly. "I know you won't. Good luck. And watch yourselves." Fury responded.
Soon, Terence found himself in Castle Doom, and quickly heard Doom's voice. "Greetings, my old friends. You're looking quite well, for being dead. But then, I suppose I have Uatu to thank for that little miracle." he said. "How do you know that, Doom?" Terence asked. "I know a great many things. And once I am finished here on Earth, I shall turn my attention to the stars. Then all the Watchers will learn to respect the might of Doom." answered the tyrant. "Do you see how easily I now control the very elements themselves? Finally I have achieved the ultimate power." he added. "I suppose now you're going to kill us...or at least try." Terence responded. "Why would I destroy the last people who could appreciate my work? I want you to roam around and see what I've changed...and what I've created." Doom retorted. "This can't be good." Terence said to himself before moving on. After some exploring, he came across something perplexing. "Since you have yet to truly understand my magnificence, I will demonstrate with this simple puzzle. Can you choose the correct door to leave, or is that beyond your feeble intellect?" Doom said before Terence attempted to solve the puzzle. The clever hero did so, simply by going back the way he came. "Ready to take a leap of faith, old friends? Because that's the only way you'll be able to continue on through my castle." Doom said before Terence took said leap, down a massive hole and into another part of the castle. Upon examining the massive statue of Dr. Doom in the center of the room, Terence set out to find the armor, gauntlets and facemask of the man himself in order to place them on the statue and meet with the lord and master of the castle.
After more exploration, Terence came across two familiar faces. "Who are you, and why are you dressed like me?" Cap asked the being on the left, who was actually his dark, evil doppleganger. "I was created to be your exact duplicate, Steve Rogers. And although I equal you in ability, I have absolute loyalty to Dr. Doom." said Dark Cap. "Do you have all of my memories and experiences, too?" Cap asked. "Yes. I know everything you know...even your regrets about Bucky. You really could have done something to save him all those years ago." Dark Cap answered. "I don't need to hear this, not from something like you. So what's your story, Colossus? Are you a copy too?" Cap retorted. "Nyet. I am the original. Dr. Doom merely opened my eyes, and showed me that he is the supreme power." Colossus responded. "So if Doom is able to turn us, why did he bother making a twisted version of me?" Cap asked. "Because he didn't want to wait until he captured you to possess you. Therefore, since I exist, you become unnecessary." Dark Cap answered. "Well, it's nice to know what's in store for me if we lose." Cap responded. "You lost the moment Dr. Doom stole Odin's power, Rogers. Now it's just a matter of tying up the loose ends." Dark Cap responded. And in no time, the fight was on. Both Colossus and Dark Cap fell and Terence got his hands on the gauntlets for the statue. After reaching a flight of stairs, Terence climbed to the top and found dark versions of both Psylocke and Cyclops. "It took you long enough to get here. I was beginning to wonder if you'd ever make it." Psylocke said as soon as Terence showed up. "Don't be too hard on them, Psylocke. They aren't one of Lord Doom's chose...yet." Cyclops pointed out. "Psylocke...Cyclops. Don't tell me that Doom managed to twist your minds too?" Terence asked. "Our minds aren't twisted. We now realize that Lord Doom is the ultimate power in the galaxy. And in serving him, we are granted abilities far beyond anything we had previously known." Psylocke retorted. "That's a lie. Doom hasn't given you anything you didn't already have." Terence rebutled. "If you really think that's so, then follow me. And you'll see what our Lord Doom is capable of." Cyclops responded. "Go ahead. Follow Cyclops if you want. Or stay here and face me. Either way, you're going to have to fight us both sometimes." Psylocke encouraged. With that, Cyclops jumped off the edge of the floor before Psylocke went on the attack.
Eventually, Psylocke fell, and then Terence followed Cyclops off the edge, only to find that gravity had been inverted. "So you decided to follow me down here. I can't say that was a wise tactical decision." Cyclops said. "What's going on with this place, Cyclops? Everything's upside down." Terence asked, clearly perplexed. "It's just further proof that Dr. Doom is the ultimate power. He can't be beaten, so why not give up an save yourself the pain?" Cyclops answered. "You can't believe that. The real Cyclops would never give up - not where there was still a breath left in his body." Terence retorted. "Sorry. You're wasting your breath trying to appeal to the 'old' Cyclops. Dr. Doom has total control over me - just like he's abotu to have total control over you." Cyclops responded before the fight began. Cyclops soon fell before Terence's power, like Psylocke before him, and that allowed Terence to find and take the armor needed for the statue. Afterwards, Fury chimed in. "Team, I just heard from Karnak in Attilan. He thinks the Ultimate Nullifer that Medusa had been looking for is located somewhere near you." he said. "You think we might be able to use it against Doom?" Terence asked, hopefully. "At this point, anything is worth a try. Keep your eyes open for it. Fury, out." he answered. After more exploring, Terry found the device in question, but it was damaged. "Colonel Fury, we've located the Ultimate Nullifier, but it looks to be broken. Doom must have smashed it." Terence reported. "Isn't that just our luck. Alright, hold on to it anyway. It could come in handy later." Fury responded. Little did Terry know just how handy that device would become.
After more exploration, Terence soon found none other than Odin. "Look, it's Odin! He's trapped in some kind of mystical machine. We should try and break him out." he said. The brave warrior soon realized a dark magic item could do the job, but before he could look for one, two more dark heroes arrived, them being a dark version of Thor and Spider-Man. "Halt, for now you face the might of Thor, son of Odin." Dark Thor demanded. "Evil Thor, would you give me your hammer? I need it to free Odin and I'd really rather not fight you for it." Spidey responded. "So you're the real deal, huh? Somehow I thought you'd be taller in person...and a lot more intelligent." Dark Spidey quipped. "Wait a minute, you're my exact double, and you're making fun of me? Maybe I'm not that bright after all." Spidey responded. "I'm not your exact double - Doom made a few modifications." Dark Spidey pointed out. "Well, it looks like he ruined my sense of fashion and trashed my voice. Is that it or did he make other changes?" Spidey asked. "Yes, he gave me the desire to kill my enemy." Dark Spidey answered. "As a fellow Spider-Man, I urge you not to use the word 'kill'. We aren't the kind of person who kills. We disable." Spidey joked. "You are such a goody two-shoes. I'm gonna kill you." Dark Spidey responded. "Hey! Now what word did we just finish talking about?" Spidey asked, clearly offended, before the fight began. Once both dopplegangers were down, Terence picked up Dark Thor's hammer. "The magic in Dark Thor's hammer should break the machine that imprisons Odin. Let's try it and see." he said before doing so. In seconds, Odin was freed. "Dr. Doom still weilds Odin's power, but you have saved Odin's life by freeing his body from this prison. For that act of bravery, you have the appreciation of all of Asgard." spoke Valkyrie. "It was no problem, Valkyrie. We're just trying to help." Terence responded. "Return to us now in Asgard, Odin. Here you will rest that you might one day regain your powers." Valkyrie said before Odin vanished, bound for his homeland.
Afterwards, Terence took the facemask for the statue and placed all three items on the statue, creating a staircase that led to a portal, which went straight to Dr. Doom's throne room. "Once again, luck has been on your side, for that can be the only reason you have survived this long. By my latest creations will finally put an end to all that." Doom said upon Terence's arrival. "Doom! What have you done?" Terence demanded. "Who better to serve as my personal guards than recreations of my greatest foes? Meet my Fantastic Four." Doom responded. "This is twisted, Doom, even for your sick mind." Terence retorted as he looked at the dark versions of The Thing, Human Torch, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman. "Don't talk that way about our lord and master. Dr. Doom is the greatest man the world has ever known." Dark Mr. Fantastic interjected. "Now you will kneel before Victor Von Doom..." added Dark Invisible Woman. "...and you will pledge allegiance to him." put in Dark Human Torch. "And if ya don't, we'll pound ya until you do. Got it?" finished Dark Thing. "Then I guess it's clobbering time." Terence retorted as if he were really The Thing. After a long, hard battle, the Dark Fantastic Four fell. "So you have beaten my Fantastic Four. I have only myself to blame - I made the mistake of creating them as feeble and weak minded as the originals." Doom said. "Doom, this has to stop. You're using Odin's power too much and it's damaging our universe." Terence demanded, trying to reason with the mad tyrant, as futile as it was. "Bah! Your petty fears are of no concern to me. I contorl the might of the most powerful god in Asgard." Doom retorted. "You'll control nothing if the universe is destroyed." Terence rebutled. "Silence! I have heard enough of your prattle. Now I will obliterate you once and for all!" Doom bellowed. "We have to touch him with the Muonic Inducer! Let's go!" Terence said to his team.
With great effort, and after taking down several more copies of the Fantastic Four, Terence finally got close enough to Doom and touched him, stealing some of his power. "So you managed to steal a portion of my powers? An interesting ploy but it matters not. You haven't had the experience I've had in wielding the power of Odin. And now, with the aid of my minions, I'll show you how a real god smites his enemies!" Doom said as Terence, now imbued with the power of Thor's father, finally went one on one with Dr. Doom. It was harder than the thought, but Terence delivered the final blow to Doom, sending him outside the castle. "Fools. You have accomplished nothing." Doom said defiantly before his powers disappeared on him and a familiar voice bellowed. "Doom!" said the voice. "Odin! You can't be free!" Doom said in shock. "Your wretched scheme is undone, and your black soul is mine!" Odin shouted with fury. "No!" Doom cried out before a lightning bolt struck him, leaving behind only his mask. "An eternity of suffering is the fate of those who challenge the gods." Odin declared. Later, Cap, Spidey, Thor and Wolverine met with Nick Fury on the repaired U.N.N. Alpha Helicarrier. "You gotta thank your old man for me, Thor. Odin did one heck of a job reversing the damage Doom did to Earth." Fury said. "Aye. But I believe he is presently occupied with Doom and my brother Loki." Thor responded. "Let's hope he's teaching them new kinds of pain." Fury said. "The world owes you a debt of gratitude it could never repay. But, with the danger passed, our task force must be disbanded." he added, to the subtle shock of all. "You're a punk, Fury." Wolverine said before all four heroes took their leave. "Listen fellas, I don't care if you like me, but if a threat like this comes again, can S.H.I.E.L.D. count on your help?" Fury asked. "The world can count on us...sir." Cap answered as Fury barely smiles before the captain takes his leave.
Meanwhile, far off in the universe, a familiar figure watches a hologram of Earth, that being the planet eater himself, Galactus. "Such insignificant creatures. They dare steal from Galactus! For that, I will destroy their planet." he said with anger as he clutched the hologram of the planet. "Great. The planet eater is on his way." Terence said to himself, but then, he heard another voice. "All is well, but the tale is not yet complete." it said. "Uatu?" Terence asked. "While pursuing Dr. Doom, your actions have had ramifications you could not possibly imagine. Allow me to show you the future you helped to create." Uatu responded. And soon enough, Terence saw flashbacks to all the things he did during the course of his adventure, starting with the Omega Base. "You chose wisely in saving the Omega Base computer. It contained research on the Legacy Virus, a disease that is deadly to mutants. In several years, that information will lead to a cure and stop the plague. With one random act of bravery, you saved the entire mutant race from possible extinction." Uatu revealed. "So I saved all mutant kind, X-Men and Brotherhood alike." Terence said, amazed and proud that he did what he did. Then, he saw visions of what happened in Atlantis. "You showed true courage in locating the ingredients needed to heal Namor in Atlantis. Because of this, Namor will grow to trust surface dwellers. And in time, he will aid in the formation of a worldwide organization of super heroes. This group will save the Earth from many dangers that would have otherwise destroyed it." Uatu explained. "So judging by whom I'm looking at, I formed a version of the Illuminati, since Professor X and Namor are in the group." Terence hypothesized before seeing his exploits in Murderworld. "It was quite valiant of you to recue Senator Kelly, a known detractor of mutants. Because of your kindness, the Senator will successfully sponsor the Mutant Aid bill. This will allocate government funds for schools like Professor Xavier's. These schools will prove to be very effective in training young mutants in how to control their powers." Uatu explained. "So I improved the relationship between humans and mutants for the better? Incredible!" Terence said.
But then, his smile faded when he saw glimpses of Mephisto's Realm. "It was most unfortunate that you were unable to rescue Jean Grey in Mephisto's Realm. For she does not die in the Infinity Vortex. Instead, she returns to Earth in the form of the Dark Phoenix, to take vengeance upon those who did not save her." Uatu said grimly. Terence gulped. "So I created something far worse by failing to save Jean Grey?" he asked, knowing that the Phoenix Force was bad enough, but this was far worse than that. Next, he saw visions of the area of Asgard near the Bifrost Bridge. "You were wise to locate the Sword of the Valkyrie. With her aid, Asgard is easily freed, but more importantly, Loki is imprisoned. And with the God of Mischief in chains, Ragnarok, the end of the Asgardian dimension, never comes to pass." Uatu explained. "So I saved Asgard from meeting its end and imprisoned Loki for good? Excellent." Terence said with a smile before being shown another vision of Asgard, specifically of Niffleheim. "It was most fortuitous that you found Volla's ring. This pleases the Asgardian prophetess such that, in years to come, she will warn Odin of an attempt on his life. This will lead to the capture of the villainous fire demon, Surtur." Uatu said. "So I helped to capture a being who could've possibly killed Odin? Not bad if I do say so myself." Terence said with pride before seeing a flashback of his mission on the Shi'ar empirial flagship. "Saving Princess Lilandra was a very wise decision. In time, the Shi'ar will give Earth advanced technology that will wipe out all disease and hunger. Eventually, this new technology will even allow humanity to colonize other planets." Uatus spoke. "So I helped advance human civilization? Impressive." Terence admired before seeing his mission on the Skrull homeworld.
"You are to be congratulated on saving the Skrull planet from destruction. Soon, the Skrull will form a tentative partnership with Earth. Shortly after that, the Skrull will come to the aid of the Earth when the Kree threaten to enslave humanity." Uatu explained. "So Earth's former enemies will become their greatest intergalactic allies? Amazing!" Terence said in wonder before Terence saw his final mission in Castle Doom. "It was most wise of you to save Odin rom his confinement in Castle Doom. In the near future, the mighty Thanos will seek to conquer Earth. Only intervention by Thor's father will save the human race from enslavement." Uatu explained. "Guess Thanos won't be using his Infinity Gauntlet around Earth if I freed the only being that could stop him." Terence said with pride before seeing the moment he found the Ultimate Nullifier. "You are to be congratulated for locating the damaged Ultimate Nullifer at Castle Doom. One day soon, Mephisto will seek to conquer our dimension. But Reed Richards will repair the Ultimate Nullifier and use it to stop the vile creature before all is lost." Uatu said, grandly. "So I saved the world from the vile and dark power of Mephisto and his son? Serves them right for forcing me to create the Dark Pheonix." Terence said with a smirk before the vision fades. "Although this timeline was created by you, know that it can be altered. For you are a hero and your every action, or inaction, affects the entire universe." Uatu concluded before Terence returned to his body and his world. "Talk about an epic adventure!" he said as Pixel reappeared. "You're telling me! You've practically been almost everywhere in the Marvel Universe, and then some!" Pixel said with a smile. "Well, saving the universe has made me hungry. I think I need to grab some lunch." Terry said as his stomach started growling. And so, with Pixel in tow, the triumphant player headed off for a hero's lunch.
Meanwhile, Alyssa had just gotten to know her Pixelverse companion and learned where it came from. "So you get the story?" asked the companion, named Data. "I think so, you come from a place called the Pixelverse that is the home of every video game character and is influenced by the video game industry of my world. Right?" Alyssa responded. "That's right. You're definetly smarter than any human I ever met." Data said, snootily. "Hey!" Alyssa shouted, somewhat offended. "Sorry about that. But if you want me to prove my powers to transport whoever wears that amulet into a video game, go ahead and pick a game and play." Data responded. And with that, Alyssa looked to her video game collection. But the question left to answer was, which game to play?
