SLAM
That was the noise of Zachariah being violently slammed against the wall of the hideout by his twin sister. After Balthazar had revealed something from Zack's past. Athena was pissed that her brother still had something to hide after swearing he'd help them take down Uriel. The sound of Zack's body hitting the wall had alerted Persephone and Evie to the woman's angry outburst. Leading to the two shouting.
"WHAT THE HELL MOM?!"
"WHAT'S GOING ON?"
Athena looked at the two women that stood behind her with her eyes like a snake. The two women had shrunk back when the fuming woman refused to let go of her grip on Zack's throat before she seethed out.
"Your uncle Bal, your cousin Moon and Orion have walked into an ambush. An ambush that was caused by Uriel awakening one of ZACK'S creations!"
This led to Evie and Persephone looking at the struggling to breathe former angel of Heaven in disbelief. That was until Zack managed to choke out what he wanted to say.
"I… SWEAR! Ragnarök was a… failed experiment. I don't know how it fell into Uriel's hands, Athena!"
Athena's grip tightened around her twin brother's throat. This leads to Evie shouting.
"Aunt Athena, Stop! You're going to kill him!"
"GOOD!"
Evie reeled back in horror at her aunt's angered response. Her murderous gaze turned back to her brother when she continued speaking with a seething rage boiling in her blood.
"You swore on our brother's grave you'd changed, Zack. Now, one of his best friends could wind up dead if we don't go and save them from something you created!"
Zack was lost for words. But, deep down. He wanted to know how Uriel had access to his old lab in the first place. Once Athena let him drop to his knees and gasp for precious air. She spoke to the two behind her.
"Keep him here."
Zack looked like someone had pissed in his cereal at his sister's demand. Standing to his feet and, attempting to protest his sister's request for his two nieces to watch him. He soon had a dagger held dangerously close to his eyeball by his twin sister. Holding the knife as a threat, she says lowly.
"You will do as I Bleeping say, Zachariah. I'm going to clean up your mess. Then, I will deal with you when I bring Balthazar, Moon and Orion back with me."
All the fight Zack had to protest was gone the moment he looked into his sister's eyes. They already had a strained relationship from the time Snow was alive. Now, it had fractured further with the revelation Balthazar had shared over the radio. Taking her leave from the safehouse. The two young females look at the male in surprise at him backing down to Athena. Clearing his throat once he knew Athena was gone. He says meekly.
"I'm gonna go check on Isaac. He should be waking up soon."
Evie and Persephone couldn't help but look at each other after hearing their uncle speak sadly. Yes, they agreed with Athena that Zack should have warned them about his other experiments as an overlord. But, at the same time. They felt their uncle had a valid case of not knowing how Uriel accessed his creation in the first place. For now, all they could do was wait and pray. Wait for Athena to return with Balthazar and the others that were still out in the field. And, they prayed their Uncle got over the slip-up soon.
South Side of Heaven
Things weren't going too well for the three seen hiding from the monster that was stalking them. Moon was sat leaning against a wall while Orion was trying to make some traps to trip up the abomination sniffing around. Grunting in pain from her shattered ribs the beast had caused. Moon says through gritted teeth.
"It's game over, man. It's game over."
This leads to Orion shushing Moon with a hand over her mouth when he felt the beast's presence hovering beside their hiding place. Hearing the beast breathe was enough for Moon to try and suck in a breath to conceal herself from being tracked by the thing. Here's how it all went south for the two hiding from Ragnarök.
After they'd arrived in the south to take out the targets they'd been assigned to by Isaac before his, unfortunate, accident. Things were running smoothly for the trio consisting of the father and daughter. Add on the son of Dex and Octavia. Then you had the three that made up the assassination team. But, as they'd reached their target location after hearing the explosion that had rocked the south side. Eliza's explosion had caused the angels to stay on high alert the moment the three were there. Another wrench in the works included Uriel appearing at their location with another. That other being had begun to lay waste to everything around it. Including the angel, the team had been sent to kill. Now, The adult and the teen were hiding in a coal bunker outside of the house. Balthazar was nowhere to be seen. He'd followed after Uriel into the warp gate the 3rd Seraph Overlord had opened back to his base.
Motioning to Moon to follow him after he had gently opened the bunker door. As Orion made sure to check his surroundings before creeping out of the small built coal storage shed. He looked back to Moon to indicate the coast was clear. Nodding to confirm she understood that the teen wanted her to follow him. She made her move. The two began to sneak around the back of the building the target was inside of before Ragnarök had upended their mission. Their main objective now? It was to survive. And, it was to escape Ragnarök before he discovered them.
Before Moon had left the coal bunker. She had activated a device that would call on anyone she wanted for assistance. She knew her dad was compromised. But who could she call since she couldn't call on her dad for backup? Granted, she didn't know her aunt Athena and Dex had arrived in Heaven to help Persephone and Hercules. But, she always had an ace in the hole for when she needed it.
Inside The House's Main Hall
"Do you ever get the feeling we're not the hunters? but, the hunted, Moon?"
Orion says in a whisper to the female he stood back to back with. Guns were held at the ready and, sweeping the area for signs of life besides themselves in the building. They made sure to cover the ground as well. Just in case they ran into anything that remotely looked like the abomination hunting them.
"Judging by the fact you have zero experience facing Uncle Zack's abominations. His creations will always make you feel like you're being hunted, Rion. Remember the Chimaera I told you about?"
"The fugly-looking amalgamation Zack had created to hunt Snow? Yeah, I remember what you told me, Moon. Didn't he almost kill your uncle? Mortally wound your brother. Then, proceed to kill Moxxie and Evie before Isaac almost died fighting him. Leading to little Nixie, Snow and Charlie killing the beast?"
Moon nods. She still had PTSD flashbacks from the day she watched her brother stumble out of the woods with three of the beast's teeth lodged into his body. She was just glad the triplets weren't around when Chimaera was terrorising Hell's Squadron. She wouldn't wish that on any of them. She would wish it on her worst enemy. That was a given.
Continuing to scout the area they were in. The two were led to believe the beast had given up the hunt for them. Dropping their guard for a split second. A snarl instantly snaps the two back onto their guard at the noise they'd heard. Their heads soon looked up to see a body drop from the ceiling above them. Noting the mauled body as the angel Bezaliel. Moon almost screamed blue murder at the sight before her. Orion had gone completely numb at seeing his first dead body since the extermination last year. The two would soon freeze up when they see the beast clung to the ceiling. Growling, with saliva dripping from his jowls. The two can only freeze in fear as the beast drops down to the ground and rose to his natural height of nine feet tall. He was towering over the two before him when the beast growled out the words.
"Run."
The two didn't need to be told twice. Only, when they did. The beast was soon on their tail again. This time, he had a trick up his sleeve. Something horrified Moon when she noticed what the beast had done. Realising he'd given them a head start when they'd started running. She noticed too late that Orion had been tripped up by the beast. When she did notice the missing teammate as she hid in cover inside the wardrobe upstairs. Orion was crawling feebly out of the shadows with his entire right side missing from his body. The sight of her best friend's body almost made Moon scream and cry in horror. Almost leaving her wide open for the beast to claim his next victim.
'Secret Angel Art.'
If only the beast had been paying attention to his surroundings. He would've noticed his right arm missing from the blade that sped past him at breakneck speeds. The same arm that nearly grabbed Moon from her hiding spot.
"Typhoon."
Moon couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief when she caught a glimpse of her aunt Athena standing before the beast. With his missing arm within her hand, she called out.
"Hey, fugly! Over here!"
Song Play: 'Soldier of Heaven' by Sabaton (Athena Vs Ragnarök)
The beast growled in anger at being intercepted by a former angel of the lord. His anger would soon be known when he growls out.
"Staff Sergeant Athena Snow."
Athena stays on her guard while the beast begins to circle her. Sensing a small drop in guard from the female. The beast lunged for Athena's exposed throat. Only to swipe thin air and fall victim to a falling elbow from Athena to the back of his head. Another claw swipe ensued before Athena moved back and dodged each swipe aiming for the female's head and throat. When she'd moved out of the way long enough. She calls out to her niece.
"Moon, get back to the safehouse! I'll deal with Ragnarök."
Moon wasn't having any of it.
"NO WAY! MY DAD NEEDS ME, AUNT ATHENA!"
Athena had to dodge some debris thrown at her before blocking a powerful strike with the daggers between her fingers. Getting her bearings after kicking the beast away. She shouts back.
"THAT'S AN ORDER, MOON! ISAAC AND THE OTHERS ARE WAITING FOR YOU TO RETURN WITH ORION."
Moon wanted to answer back. But, the moment Athena glared at her like Cassiel used to do to her baby brother. Moon backed up in fear before grabbing Orion's corpse and teleporting. Leaving Athena with the beast with the blood-covered jaws of razor-sharp teeth. Her last thoughts before she went into battle were this.
'Goodbye Persephone, Goodbye Isaac, Evie and Eliza…'
The beast roars to announce he was about to charge Athena. While he was charging. Athena smirks when she finishes her thoughts when Ragnarök lunges for her.
'And, yes. even you..., Zachariah.'
With her attack to come. This is the last time we will see Athena…
… For Now.
End Song
With Balthazar in Uriel's Sanctum
None of Uriel's elites was standing the moment the fallen angel with the black wings and cybernetic enhancements were done with them. Fallen held within his flesh-covered left hand. White Rose held within the robotic hand on his right arm. The black-winged angel had managed to escape the beast's clutches long enough to hunt down Uriel back to his sanctum.
Entering through the sliding doors to the room Uriel called his. Balthazar stayed on his guard just in case any more elites tried to get to him when he walked in. Lowering White Rose slightly as he approached the computers before him. The fallen angel has a look of inquisitiveness on his face when he read what was on the screen.
"Project Erase."
"So…, you've found my ultimate goal?"
Balthazar sharply turned to find Uriel standing before him. Aiming his gun at the angel's head. Uriel simply tuts at the black-winged angel's attempt at holding him at gunpoint before addressing Balthazar.
"Project Erase is the end game, Black Wing. Everything, and everyone you've ever known, poof, gone from existence."
"Why would you want to Thanos everything, Uriel? What would you gain from this act!?"
Uriel chuckles darkly. Chuckling to the point of Balthazar holding his gun further between Uriel's eyes before the angel continues.
"Such a small-minded thing to say, Balthazar. I don't want to erase the whole world. Just the ones that don't share my vision. Including that old fool, father time."
Balthazar faltered for a second. This leads to Uriel staring down the barrel of White Rose between his eyes. Locking his gaze onto Balthazar when he continues.
"For too long, God has allowed filthy heathens to run rampant and ruin his precious work. I, simply want to help him start afresh. Begin anew, if you will."
Though Balthazar knew his former commander was toying with him. The cyborg kept his guard up while the taller omnipotent spoke out.
"You think killing millions will satisfy your endgame, Uriel?! Is that why you killed Lazarus?"
Uriel's chuckles soon turned into a booming, evil laugh. When he stops, Balthazar's look turns to one of disgust when Uriel looks at him crazily when he answers.
"Ah, yes…, him."
With a click of his fingers. An image on the screen shows something that made Balthazar's eyes widen in horror. There, in the testing chamber with pipes attached to him on the screen before the cyborg, was his best friend.
"SNOW!"
Clenching his fists in rage. He calls Uriel something that made the angel smirk evilly.
"BASTARD! WHAT THE BLEEP DID YOU DO TO LAZARUS, YOU MONSTER!"
That was when Uriel spoke in response.
"Oh, nothing of note. Except, maybe turned him into the perfect killing machine. A pure angel with his demon side ripped from his body! The specimen that will bring my vision to life!"
"You're Insane, Uriel! Lazarus fell in Hell by your hands. He fell trying to save me!"
Once again, Uriel tuts at Balthazar's statement before replying.
"To answer your earlier statement, Blackwing. I'm the monster? When this thing was alive. He killed all who stood before him without mercy. He showed no remorse for who he killed. And, he was allowed to walk freely while diseasing the almighty's perfect world?!"
That was when he began to overpower Balthazar by grabbing him by the throat and pinning him to the wall behind the cyborg when he continued.
"I've simply cured the disease of his ailment. Soon, once Ragnarök kills this abomination's sister. She will soon be a part of my vision too."
Balthazar tried his hardest to fight off the grip of Uriel from around his throat. But, no matter how much he tried. The grip grew tighter. Eventually, Uriel released the cyborg. Letting him fall to the floor and try to regain sweet oxygen to his lungs. His reprieve was short-lived the moment Uriel knocked the cyborg unconscious with a boot to the temple. Now he had the means to begin his vision. Uriel orders one of his underlings to take Balthazar to a holding cell inside the sanctum. If only he'd been paying attention to his surroundings when he was monologuing to Balthazar.
From a crack inside the door at the entrance to his sanctum. A single green eye had witnessed Uriel's ultimate plan to bring an end to his enemy's existence. Pulling away from the door, and looking in disgust at what he heard, the archangel says lowly to himself.
"I need to warn Balthazar's team."
He soon vanished the moment Uriel exited his sanctum. The angel had to hold his breath the moment Uriel paused. Almost as though he sensed the presence of the angel that had spied on him. Once Uriel had walked on. The angel made his exit to his sanctum.
Michael's Sanctum
Entering the room that belonged to him. The first person to greet him was his wife the minute the door to Michael's sanctum opened for him.
"Michael? Honey, what's going on?"
"No time to explain, Rose. I need to warn an old friend of Uriel's madness."
Song Play: Cirice by Ghost (Michael's Struggle)
Michael's wife was horrified by what she learned from her husband's hurried response. Watching as the male loaded his hunting rifle and sheathed his Scottish claymore sword dubbed 'Highlander' behind his back. Michael made sure he had his only two pieces of equipment before hearing a banging sound on his sanctum door. Hearing the commotion. Michael held his hands in front of his wife and daughter when he heard the elite shout.
"COME OUT, MICHAEL. ANSWER FOR YOUR TREACHERY TO GOD!"
Michael made a noise in anger before turning to kneel before his daughter. Looking into his baby daughter's silver eyes. He says softly.
"Blossom. Go with your mother through the back entrance and get to the safety of my sister's sanctum and stay there. Daddy's going to be okay, sweetie."
Blossom nods before hugging her father goodbye. Once she disengages the hug. The little girl follows her mother to safety. Leaving Michael to deal with the elites about to knock down his sanctum's door. Well, what sounded like a thousand elites. He got a shock when it was only one angel standing before the destroyed doors. Pure white wings behind his back as he walked into the room without a word leaving him.
"You've risen again, Lazarus."
Raising his pure white katana while in a standard angel sword stance. Michael unsheathed Highlander from behind his back. Gripping the handle tightly with both hands and, making sure his look of evenness didn't betray him while staring down the blank look of Lazarus. Michael knew Uriel had done something to his old friend to make him look the way he is. Gone was his signature snow-white hair. In its place was short white-blonde hair. The gold eyes that held love and hope for his family and friends were gone. In their place, were ice-cold white blue eyes that made the archangel shiver at the malice behind the eyes.
"I don't know what lies Uriel has told you, Lazarus. But, if I have to put you down to make you see sense. So be it."
Lazarus didn't respond. Instead, under Uriel's orders, began to attack Michael. But, the moment Michael took Lazarus's sword swinging right arm off. He looked in horror when the male's arm grew back in an instant. Hearing Lazarus cracks his neck before walking toward Michael with a purpose. Deciding to swing again, this time taking Lazarus's legs from under him. Michael learned he had to slow down the monster that was once the Lazarus Snow he knew. Once his opponent's legs grew back. Michael couldn't help the horrified look on his face. What had Uriel done to his once proud warrior?! He would soon get his answer the moment Lazarus kicked Michael into the nearest wall. He was lucky to dodge the killing machine's lunge by rolling out of the way five times before bringing Highlander up to defend him from the downwards lunge meant for Michael's heart. Knocking away the katana long enough for him to sweep his attacker's legs from under him. Michael nips up to his feet in time to try and mount some offence against Lazarus. Landing a few good punches and a hard punch to the killing machine's gut. Michael's hope was soon cut off when Lazarus grabbed Michael by the throat. With a tight grip on a struggling archangel. Lazarus began to repeatedly chokeslam Michael against the concrete floor of his sanctum. After the twentieth slam, Lazarus launches Michael against the covered fuse box at the other end of the room. Knocking the door loose enough to expose the wires inside long enough to give Michael an idea. Getting up groggily to his feet. Michael goads the silent killer into attacking him again. Luckily for the archangel, Lazarus obliged. Dodging quickly and, putting his plan into action, Michael moved out of the way and allowed Lazarus to plunge his sword into the electrical wires. The sudden pierce to the wires that gave Michael's sanctum light began to flicker while the electricity surged through Lazarus by way of his blade. While he was being electrocuted. Michael grabbed his claymore and, swung for the neck again. Connecting with his target. He beheaded Lazarus long enough to be able to escape from the being's clutches. The last thing the, still alive head, of Lazarus saw was Michael teleporting away from his sanctum.
"Never mind him, Lazarus. Focus on that traitor's family."
Understanding what he had to do once he reattached his head back onto his shoulders. Lazarus changed his objective. If this was the real Lazarus. He would never butcher a family. But, this isn't the Lazarus we know and love. This was a different Lazarus that only knew how to kill.
With Eliza and Kai
Waking with a start from her meditation. Eliza was panting with panicked breaths and wide eyes filled with tears at what she had seen in one of her visions. Snapping her gaze towards her grandfather. She could see the solemn look on his face at what he had, also, witnessed within Eliza's mind. Getting to her feet and grabbing her gun. Kai says nonchalantly.
"You're not ready, Eliza."
Eliza snapped back in response.
"I can't just sit there while some bastard, who pretends to be my dad, goes around and slaughters innocents. I have to do something!"
Kai nods. He knew it was pointless arguing with his granddaughter while she shared the same pigheadedness as her grandmother. Standing to his feet with the help of his handmade wooden cane in his hand. He speaks once he begins walking towards the entrance to his cave.
"What are you waiting for then…, a written invitation?"
Eliza laughs softly at her wily-smirking grandfather. Following the elder's lead out of the cave.
Outside of Kai's Cave
Once the two were outside of the cave after the barrier was removed for them to be able to leave the deserted island. Eliza is about to take off with her wings before Kai gently touches his granddaughter's wrist to halt her. Looking down at the elder that had stopped her. She makes her wings disappear the minute the elder leads her to a carving in the ground. Standing in the centre of the circle. Kai begins the chant.
"As my time reaches its end. I invoke my demons to guide me home to where I belong. Marathi, Kaikorai, Invidious, MALPHIS!"
A bright red light begins to glow from the circle. Eliza could feel the power radiating from her grandfather beside her as the light began to engulf the two within the seal. Soon, once the light died down. The two were gone. Before Kai was to face the bastard impersonating his son. He needed backup from his real home. And, to reunite with a love he thought long lost to time.
