Quinn's Guilt

Chapter 3: What Hurts The Most
One day, Burt and Kurt meet Quinn at Katharine's grave, when she says, "The day of the accident I found out I couldn't have kids. Then Blaine told me that I was Tracie's godmother before Puck proposed. I was mad at God because I couldn't have kids and felt like being Tracy's godmother was God's way of spitting in my face. I was going to tell Puck at the party about my eggs, then he proposed, and I lost it. I found her diary before the party and as I said, Puck thought it was Kurt's diary. I had bought The Sleeping Beauty book before finding out I couldn't have kids. The day you found me at your old shop, Blaine found me in my car with a gun. I tried so many times to..." Then Quinn breaks down. She won't let them hold her and runs away.
An hour later, Santana and Brittany found Quinn lying on the floor in the girls' locker room at McKinley High, along with a note and a bottle of sleeping pills. Soon, Noah and Tracy were standing by Quinn's hospital bed as she lay in a coma. Then Tracy says, "Queenie, Papa didn't choose you to be my godmother, I did."
Then Noah kisses Quinn's lips before he looks at The Sleeping Beauty book in Tracy's hand. He soon starts to sing, "What Hurts The Most." by Rascal Flatts.
[Puck]
I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house.
That don't bother me.
I can take a few tears now and then and just let them out.
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while.
Even though goin' on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again. I pretend I'm okay.
But that's not what gets me.
What hurts the most.
Was being so close
And havin' so much to say
And watchin' you walk away.
And never knowing
What could've been
And not seein' that love in you.
Is what I was tryin' to do
It's hard to deal with the pain of losing you everywhere I go.
But I'm doin' It
It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends, and I'm alone.
Still harder
Gettin' up, gettin' dressed, livin' with this regret
But I know if I could do it over.
I would trade and give away all the words that I saved in my heart.
That I left unspoken
What hurts the most?
Is being so close
And havin' so much to say, much to say
And watchin' you walk away.
And never knowing
What could've been
And not seeing that love in you
Is what I was trying to do, oh
What hurts the most?
Was being so close
And havin' so much to say (much to say)
And watchin' you walk away.
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that love in you
Is what I was trying to do, oh
Not seeing that love in you.
That's what I was trying to do.
Then he whispers, "I forgive you, Quinn." Then he put a ring box on her tray table as his hand shook.
Soon, Blaine yells, "How could you still blame Quinn for that? She knew you still blamed her for what happened! She said she was sorry, Kurt!"
Then Blaine storms in as he drags Kurt and continues, saying, "Look at her, Kurt! She told you she was suicidal! Then you started ignoring her after Beth's birthday! Why?"
Kurt looks at Quinn as he yells, "She gave away her daughter and almost killed ours! Why should I forgive her?"
After putting Tracy down, Noah pins Kurt against the wall as he says, "I blamed her too, Kurt. Quinn told us so many times she didn't mean it."
Soon, Tracy screams and says, "Dada and Papa go! Nono, sit down!" After climbing onto Quinn's hospital bed, she whispers, repeatedly, "I forgive you, Queenie." until she falls asleep.
When she woke up an hour later, Blaine was there talking to Noah. She hears him say, "It's been almost two years, and Kurt still doesn't want anything to do with Quinn or to forgive her. I read his last text to her the day Santana and Brittany found her. He said he wished she was dead."
Tracy soon got up and said, "Come on, Nono, let's go! You're taking me home!" as she stormed out of the room.
Noah hits Blaine on the shoulder and whispers, "Shelby told me Tracy reminds her of Beth at that age. I'm not going to lie here, Blaine. I think that's why we bonded so fast. Well, I better go before I make Little She-Puck mad at me."
Half an hour later, Burt was streaming Noah and Tracy yelling at Kurt. As Blaine starts watching, Tracy yells, "I'm here, I'm alive! Queenie didn't kill me like God did Nana Beth," Tracy knew how to say Elizabeth, but Blaine figured she said Beth to make Kurt mad.
Noah was the next to yell, saying, "Kurt, you did this to Quinn! You drove her to hurt herself! I wonder if Blaine knows that Quinn avoided you guys because you made her feel worse when he left. Yes, Kurt, I heard everything you said! You told Quinn to kill herself! You told her she didn't deserve to live! Now, look at her. She is in a coma, like your mom was! Did you know I have your mom's diary? It was in the box of Finn's stuff! Did you know people told your mom she should die for having you as a son? Kurt, she thought God gave her cancer because you were her son! Quinn made Mr. H think she had read it, but she had never read a word! Your mom felt guilty because she was dying and leaving Mr. H alone to deal with everything! My dad raped your mom before we were born, and Mr. H saved her! Kurt, I know you are mad at Quinn, but I'm fucking pissed at you! You and Quinn used to be best friends back in high school! What changed?"
Kurt looks at Burt before mumbling, "Finn wasn't my first crush, Noah."
Then Noah chuckles as he hands Burt a fifty-dollar bill before the stream ends.
When they returned to Quinn's hospital room, Blaine said, "Puck, Kurt realized you were the same Noah he crushed on as a boy when we went to Santana's and saw a picture of her with you and Finn as kids."
Then Burt says, "I saw the same picture in Finn's room and found it in Kurt's before we moved to Washington. Carole was the one that told me that was Puck, and I bet him fifty bucks Kurt would own up to the crush someday. Puck didn't believe me and bet fifty bucks he would die before he let anyone know that." Then Noah saw Quinn smiling.
That night, Burt and Noah sat on each side of Quinn's hospital bed. When Noah says, "Elizabeth was there when we were the ones in comas. Let's just say, she thought my mom would be your second wife until I started bullying Kurt. Tracy was not happy to hear that, and Quinn was wrong; she's having another baby. His name is Burt, too. My middle name isn't Elijah; it's Sue. I had it changed before graduation. My mom and Sue are the only other people that know that. I didn't even tell Finn or Santana that. It's why I started going by Puck."
Burt hands Noah a picture from his wallet and says, "My middle name is Sue too, and only Elizabeth and Sue knew that until now too. My dad was a fan of Johnny Cash, and so was Nick."
As Noah looks at the picture, he chuckles and says, "Well, Elizabeth was half right. You did become my dad in a way. I mean, come on, Mr. H, you're half the reason that I went into the Air Force. By the way, I'm working at Mick's, and the guys call me Mr. P around Kurt. They told me about Quinn and Kurt fighting at the shop too."
Noah looks at Quinn as he says, "Elizabeth still comes to me in my dreams. She has been coming to me since I came out of the coma. Tracy was supposed to die that day, and so was Blaine. Elizabeth knew Quinn was going to hurt Tracy, but didn't expect me to be the one to follow Tracy out to Quinn's car." Then, Noah gets up and screams, "Wake up!" Before he throws things around the room before Burt can react, Noah storms out.
Burt gets a call from Blaine twenty minutes later and hears Noah yell, "Your mom comes to me too, Kurt! Blaine and Tracy are still alive because of me! You met Blaine because of me! Why would you want to hurt me by telling Quinn to kill herself? Do you still hate me for bullying you? I thought you were over that!"
Then Kurt yells, "She almost killed Tracy, and she knew how much I wanted her since she was pregnant with Beth! I'm not mad at you, Puck! I'm mad at Quinn, not you! I know my mom knew that was going to happen, but I can't forgive Quinn! She almost ruined my life, and I'll never forgive her!"
Then Kurt gasps as Blaine says, "Puck broke Kurt's nose. See you soon, Burt." soon he ends the call as Burt chuckles as he looks at Quinn.
Burt ends up falling asleep and is woken up by Noah as he yells at Kurt, "Do you think your dad deserved to lose your mom, Kurt?"
Kurt tries to speak when Noah cuts him off, yelling, "Then why would you think I deserved to be without Quinn? Kurt, you still have Blaine and Tracy, and I could lose Quinn! You know what? Go, get the hell out of here before I do worse to you!" Soon Kurt and Blaine left as Noah sat by Quinn's bedside, still fuming.
Then Burt says, "I'm so glad I'm not with Norah right now, and I told Carole about what you told me earlier. She is glad you are still straight, and I hope Little Burt will be straight for your sake."
Then Noah whispers, "No, you don't." As he throws a tissue box at Burt before saying, "Maybe I'll teach him that Burt rhymes with hurt if he is like Kurt." Then Quinn's heart monitor goes off before a nurse rushes in to save her.
After Quinn's stabilized, Noah storms out, and Burt follows him to Elizabeth's grave. Noah stared at the grave for a while before looking into the sky and yelling, "She said she was sorry! You didn't stop, Finn! You are not taking Quinn from me! Why would you show me, my son, if you planned to take her?" Noah soon fell to his knees, crying.
Noah was soon searching for another grave as Burt continued to follow him. He stopped at the grave of Nick Puckerman and started kicking as he yelled, "I'm nothing like you, you son of a bitch! Everybody has compared me to you for years! Do you know how long it took me to believe in myself? It took me losing my best friend to become a better man than you! Burt Hummel is the greatest man I have ever known!" Neither man knew that Kurt was hiding behind a tree. Or that he yelled at Nick's grave first.
When Noah and Burt entered Quinn's hospital room, they saw Kurt reading Quinn's Sleeping Beauty book. Then Kurt started wiping tears from his eyes as Noah sat beside him. Soon, Kurt weeps and said, "I'm sorry, Puck! This is all my fault!" as Noah wraps his arm around him.
When Quinn had been in the coma for two months, Tracy went missing, and Santana found her asleep. On the spot where Quinn was found in the girl's locker room an hour later. Santana texted Burt about finding her because Noah and Kurt still couldn't go there.
The moment Santana got to Kurt's, Noah stormed out, then hurriedly unbuckled her. Everyone saw a mad look on Noah's face as he went straight to Tracy's room. Then they hear Noah yell, "Sit your ass in that goddamn chair! Do you know how worried we've all been looking for you?"
Tracy tries to speak, but Noah cuts her off, yelling, "I miss her too, Tracy, but what if something had happened to you? Do you not remember why we were in the hospital together?" Tracy is soon crying, and they hear Noah sing his version of the song, "You've Got A Friend In Me,"
(Puck)
You've got a friend in me.
You've got a friend in me.
When the road looks rough ahead.
And you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed.
You just remember what your old pal said.
Girl, you've got a friend in me.
Yeah, you've got a friend in me.
You've got a friend in me.
You've got a friend in me.
You've got troubles, and I've got 'em, too.
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you.
We stick together, and we see it through.
'Cause, you've got a friend in me.
You've got a friend in me.
Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am.
Bigger, and stronger, too, maybe
They soon hear Tracy laugh and giggle as Noah sings.
But none of them will ever love you the way I do.
It's me and you, girl.
And as the years go by
Our friendship will never die.
You're gonna see, it's our destiny.
You've got a friend in me.
You've got a friend in me.
You've got a friend in me.
Soon Noah was carrying Tracy out of the room on his back as he acted like a horse, making the others laugh. Then Tracy asks, "Does Aunt Beth know about Queenie hurting herself?" Noah didn't answer her but looked at the others, and Blaine shook his head no.
Chapter 4 will be up soon, and don't worry. I'll have Quinn wake up in chapter 4.
