This chapter will contain a shocking twist. You'll know what I mean when you read it.
"Hey Wally, you got a minute?" Jen asked her team leader as he was finishing getting ready.
"Uh, that depends, what is it?" Wally asked.
"I had an idea about a way to potentially improve our odds in the fight." Jen said.
"We've got three metahumans, a cyborg and your grandfather readying a military battalion." Wally reminded her.
"I know, but I had an idea about a way to supercharge me." Jen said and Wally sighed, since he knew Jen wasn't going to let this thing go, so he just nodded.
"Let's hear it." Wally said.
"You know that while my powers typically allow me to generate my own electricity, I can also absorb it from other sources right?" Jen asked.
"Yeah, so?" Wally asked, wondering where she was going with this.
"Well, I'm curious about what I could do with that speed force energy that gives you your powers, so I was hoping maybe you could charge me up." Jen said hopefully.
"Absolutely not. At least not right now." Wally said.
"What, why not?" Jen asked.
"Because Jen, you do not know what you're asking for. The kind of energy you'd be absorbing, it's unlike anything else in existence." Wally said.
"Why do you think I want it? Come on, I've seen the kind of things you can do with that power and I want to see what I can do with it. I can handle it." Jen said.
"Jen, what you're asking is extremely dangerous and not something we should be considering right before an actual mission. If this were training, I might be a bit more open to it, since at least then we'd be in an environment where we'd have some measure of control, we'd be able to run tests to see how it works. But right before an actual fight, it's out of the question. We don't know how the speed force energy will react to your system." Wally said.
"What's going on?" Felicity asked as she joined them.
"Jen wants me to supercharge her with my speed force lightning." Wally said.
"So why don't you?" Felicity asked and Jen smirked.
"Because speed force lightning is not like regular lightning. Its energy from a cosmic source, there's no telling what kind of side effects there could be." Wally said.
"Didn't Barry once fight a meta with powers similar to Jen's?" Felicity asked, remembering the old world.
"Yeah, Blackout, that one never made the media, but from what Barry told me, it sounds like trying to absorb Barry's speed overloaded Blackout and killed him. How do we know that won't happen with Jen?" Wally asked.
"From what I heard, Blackout's powers were a lot more similar to Jen's dad's. Jen on the other hand, we don't know she'll have the same problem, plus, Barry was deliberately trying to overload Blackout. You won't. And you know Jen won't stop asking until you do it, so you might as well just give her a small dose of it to get her to back off." Felicity said and Wally sighed.
"Fine, but it's a one time thing and you need to promise me that if you begin to feel weird at all or if there are any other side effects, you tell us immediately and will back out." Wally said.
"Fine, now give me the good stuff." Jen said eagerly as Wally rolled his eyes, but nodded as he charged up his hand with a very low dose of speed force lightning and very reluctantly, he blasted Jen with it, but to both his and Felicity's relief, it didn't seem to be hurting her. If anything, she looked a bit underwhelmed.
"Come on, this doesn't feel any different than any other electricity I've absorbed. Hit me with some real power." Jen said.
"You heard her. Light her up." Felicity said with a grin, which Wally shared, since if Jen wanted more, might as well give it to her, if only to teach her not to be so cocky.
"You got it." Wally said with a slight grin as he added his other hand to the blast and upped the charge a bit and sure enough, now Jen was beginning to feel it, if her glowing eyes were any indication.
"Now this is what I'm talking about. You have this kind of power going through you all the time?" Jen asked with a grin.
"Something like that." Wally said, right Felicity noticed something.
"Uh Jen, are you okay?" Felicity asked.
"Yeah, why?" Jen asked.
"Because I don't think that Wally is the only thing you're drawing energy from right now. Some kind of strange energy is appearing around you." Felicity said as Wally realized that too.
"You know, I am starting to feel weird." Jen said.
"That's it I'm pulling the plug." Wally said as he attempted to cut off the power to Jen, but it wouldn't stop, if anything, it felt like Jen was forcing more energy out of him.
"Jen, what are you doing?" Wally asked.
"I don't know. I'm trying to stop, but it's like I've lost control." Jen said, not sure what was going on, when suddenly, a huge flash of light encompassed her and Wally and suddenly, they vanished from the garage.
"What just happened?" Felicity asked.
When the white light died down, Wally barely had time to register what was happening before Jen screamed in pain as the power she was absorbing became so much she wasn't sure how much more of it she could take, though she finally stopped absorbing power from Wally.
"What is going on?" Wally asked as he realized they were no longer on Earth.
"Something that while it is not pleasant, is something that must happen and is overdue." A new voice said and Wally turned to see a man who could only be Mar Novu standing there.
"You must be Mar Novu." Wally said.
"Yes, and I have been waiting for this moment ever since Ms. Pierce came to your team." Novu said.
"Why, what's happening to her?" Wally demanded.
"During Crisis, Ms. Pierce was sent into her own personal pocket dimension, which was one of the few places unaffected by the antimatter wave. However, due to the creation of a new Jennifer Pierce, she's remained trapped there, unable to join this reality as you and the other paragons did, until now." Novu said as they watched Jen continue to struggle to contain the energy she'd absorbed.
"What's happening to her?" Wally asked.
"The speed force energy you charged her up with acted as a kind of magnet, converting the original Jennifer's form into energy and drawing her into this reality. The more power you gave her, the stronger the magnet became until finally, it allowed her consciousness to be brought into this world completely. However, there were some unpleasant side effects, due to the energy build up and overload. Fortunately, it looks like it's almost over. I brought you both here to keep any fallout contained and also to explain things to Ms. Pierce once she's stabilized." Novu said.
"Probably a smart idea. This kind of thing is overwhelming enough for adults. Can't imagine what it would be like for a teenager to suddenly have their whole world change." Wally said as Jen's entire body was suddenly encased in pure golden orange energy before it resolidified into her human form.
"What the hell just happened? Last thing I remember is being in my safe space and realizing that Odell needed to die and now I'm here." Jen said as Wally now realized that Jen's post crisis memories had been wiped.
"Think you can help out with this?" Wally asked and Novu nodded as he did the same thing for Jen that he'd done for the paragons, giving her one hell of a headache.
"Okay, if that's all, would someone please tell me what's going on here?" Jen asked as she suddenly got a flood of new memories in her head.
"It's a long story." Wally said as he looked to Novu to help him explain.
