Magnus Bane sighed as he looked at the phone in his hand. He had just spoken with Alexander, and though that would normally send a thrill through him, he was unsure how he felt about this one. The call had been about the young Mundane from the night before. Olivia had woken up much sooner then he would have thought. Or maybe he was better at his job then he thought. Regardless, it would seem that he was being requested to give the girl a check up. He was unsure when he became a doctor and not the High Warlock…

Olivia had left an odd impression on Magnus. Over his life he had saved all manner of people. Downworlders, Shadowhunters, Mundanes, even a demon or two. Never, however, in eight hundred years had he ever unintentionally fallen into someone's memories. The night before though, as he healed the young mundane, as he pulled on her very life force…there it was. He had watched as though he was in some kind of home movie, as Alec and Olivia had their first meeting.

The shift of his magic to pull himself from her mind had brought the young women back to consciousness. His mark flashing at the same time their eyes met and a small shock went through him as he realised what she must be seeing. Sending her back into unconsciousness he was once more pulled into her memories… He had more than a small worry that this could somehow be his magic reaction to her anytime it was used on her.

Sighing again, the warlock created a portal that would take him just outside the warding of The Institute.

He was greeted by the angry face of Jace. Magnus was starting to think it was the Shadowhunters default setting. Much as it had been William Herondale's, the husband of his dear friend Tessa. Thinking about it, many things about Jace reminded him of William…

"Back to see Alec so soon…?" Jace smriked, interrupting the warlock's thoughts with his own more lewd ones.

"Sadly not, it seems it will be business before pleasure again today. It's a shame to, I had such plans."

Jace's face suddenly became stormy, his prior mood back again. He had seemed to realise why Magnus may have been called back to The Institute so soon. The once injured Mundane would of course be still in need of the finest warlock money could buy.

"She's in the infirmary." Snapped Jace before spinning on his heel and leaving a bemused warlock behind.

Magnus found both Olivia and Alec in the secondary infirmary. It was more of an overflow room with a few chairs beside empty crisp white beds. Olivia was sitting unhappily on one of said beds pouting at Alec as she looked up at his standing figure.

"I don't need to have a check up! I feel fine, you did not need to call your boyfriend."

Magnus enjoyed the flush on Alexander's face as much as he did the stuttering that fell from his lips.

"Go find Jace, Alexander. He was in a right mood when I saw him a few minutes ago." Taking pity on him, Magnus announced his presence.

As he left the two alone, both Magnus and Olivia rather clearly heard him mutter a 'when isn't he' under his breath.

"I'm pretty sure that's my fault… Jace doesn't seem to like me much and I'm not even sure why. It's not like we have even "met" yet." Olivia rambled slightly, and Magnus was almost sure the second part was more to herself than him.

Raising an eyebrow at the small blonde, of who he could tell had been dressed by Isabelle. The black and gray look screamed her name, even if it fit Olivia well. Very well, though the warlock would never admit it.

Magnus sat in the chair next to the bed, choosing to ignore any talk of Jace.

"Speaking of introductions, Magnus Bane High Warlock of Brooklyn at your service."

"Um, I'm Olivia Heart."

Olivia was a touch shocked that she was meeting a warlock, and though she had no idea how their titles worked, she had a feeling High Warlock was an important one. She was more than a bit embarrassed not to have some kind of title to respond back with. Even if they both knew it was unneeded.

"It's a pleasure to meet you under better circumstances, today. Though Alec seems to believe you're still in need of my assistance."

"I am sorry about that… Alec has always been a bit overprotective." Olivia rolled her blue eyes, though she had a small fond smile on her lips.

She looked far away. As if she was lost in memories that Magnus was more than thankful he was not a part of. Looking at her now it was hard to see the little pigtailed girl who cried over a skinned knee. It was amazing what a little time could do.

"Well, I guess we should get started." Magnus spoke as he clapped his hands, blue sparks enveloping them with the movement.

Olivia startled slightly. Blinking she looked up at the warlock, eyes locking on to his hands. The blue sparks movinging like some kind of self contained mist.

Golden eyes with a black slit, much like that of a cats appeared in her clearing vision, framed with dark eyeliner. After, but a moment their eyes locked, golden widening for a moment before with a raise of a hand blue sparks overtook her vision.

"I remember that…"

"Well, you would… It was my magic that saved you." Magnus spoke, hoping that she wouldn't look more into her own memory on the subject.

"Right…"

Reigniting his magic he waved a hand at Olivia. The blue mist covered her as she looked on in awe. But between one blink and the next she was no longer looking at the blue magic, or even the High Warlock it came from.

December in New York was always more than cold. But that mattered little to six year old Olivia. Because the cold brought with it the famous window displays. With trains and moving santas, scenes from ballas and light displays to wonder at.

That morning her mother had dressed her warmly. In thick jeans and a long white and blue sweater. Over that was her new heavy tan coat, with her favorite blue knitted cap. Galoshes on her feet so she could jump in the melted slush as the day warmed, and she was more than ready to be there.

The cab ride was not truly long but to a child anytime between them and where they wanna be is too long. Escaping as soon as it was stopped, Olivia rushed to the first window she saw. Not even hearing her mother's cries of protest. Looking up in awe of the snowman covered in blue and white glitter, that fell from the ceiling, as if by "magic".

After a few minutes, she turned to hear her mother calling out her name distrest. However, when she turned she stepped right into a very tall man, knocking her hat from her head.

"Let me help you with that." The accented voice of the man said, as he bent down to retrieve the fallen hat.

As he held it out, Olivia saw golden scales slowly appear on his hands and up his wrist.

"Pretty!" She cried out as she reached her small hand out to touch the markings.

"Now who could you be? Not one of them I don't think. Hm..."

The man had snached up her small wrist holding it in a tight grip. Olivia's eyes had grown big and filled with fear and tears. Golden light flickering at his fingertips.

"Olivia!" Called the voice of her mother.

"Mommy!"

The hold on her wrist was gone the next moment, as was the man hat and all.

Magnus pulled his magic back eyes refocusing on the young woman before him. He had, it seems, been right that using his magic on her would trigger them to share a memory. Thought that was the last of his worries, after all he knew the warlock from her memory.

"Lorenzo…"

"What?" Olivia asked Magnus the haze of her memory leaving her eyes as well.

"Nothing my dear."

A funny look crossed her face. There was something off here. She had dreamed of childhood memories the last time he had used his magic on her. And though that could be written off as little more than a pain idled mind. There was no reason to remember that at this moment.

"No, I wanna know what's going on."

Magnus knew this was unlikely to end well, but all that he could do was tell her now. After all she didn't seem the type to settle for a lie.

"There is no easy way to say this…"

"Then just say it. Nothing you can say, can be anywhere as bad as finding that there really are things that go bump in the night."

Olivia smiled softly, even if it was wobbly at the ends. One of her hands came to settle on his own. As if she felt the need to both comfort and lend strength to him, whether she had any of her own left to give him or not. It was sweet and pulled a little at his heart.

"It would seem that using my magic on you triggers… shared memories. It's not of my own doing of course, but right now I seem to be unable to stop it."

An awkward silence filled the room, as if a breath was being held, whether in anticipation or in trepidation, it's unlikely whether anyone would ever know. Magnus didn't like delving into her past, as he would never want anyone to be able to do the same to him. It was no one's place to know someone else's past, not unless they were the one's telling it.

"And you used it again knowing this would be the outcome…?"

"I wasn't sure it would happen again. But I should have warned you first."

"What… What did you see?"

Olivia was at a loss as to how to handle this. First she was thrust into this world that she had always been told was the work of an overactive mind. Now, she had someone seeing her memories. Moments in her life that should only be shared by herself and anyone else who may have been with her. It was a lot to take in.

"Your first meeting with both Alexander and Isabelle. And just now your first meeting with the warlock…"

Magnus felt her grip on his hand grow stronger for a moment, as if the leftover fear from the shared memory had slitherd snake-like against her skin. As if she needed to know she was no longer being held in a golden grip. One that may well have quickly become a cage, not that he would ever tell her that truth.

"Lorenzo? That's what you called him right?"

"Lorenzo Ray is a rat, but he's also not one to cross. I have never liked him and he shares that feeling ten fold." Sighing Magnus hoped that being truthful would somehow make things between them less odd.

"And he's a warlock like you are?"

"I think this may be a conversation better had at my apartment. I may even be able to find out why this is happening at the same time."

"Lydia said I had to stay here until tomorrow…" Olivia was unsure of all of this but her want for understanding had her following along as the Warlock to lead her out of the infirmary.
