Chapter 4 Bigger on the Inside
When Narcissa got me into the room, there was another owl waiting for me.
Narcissa was either pretending not to notice it, or she really didn't notice it.
"Thank you for getting me to my room." I said as I leaned against the bedpost.
'How long does the pain linger?' I thought to myself.
"Here."
Narcissa left me and went over to my dresser. She got out a large t-shirt and a pair of shorts for me.
'Thank you." I said again.
"A shower will help with the muscles." Narcissa said, looking towards my bathroom.
"I think I'll take a bath." I told her.
"Do you want me to get it started for you?" She asked.
"No. I want to be alone, please."
She nodded her understanding.
"Do let Reeny know if you need anything." She wiped my cheeks and left me alone.
I allowed myself to let the tears go.
'He really attacked me. I don't know why I'm surprised.' I thought as I limped to the bathroom.
The owl hooted behind me.
"I know. I know. Come here." I sighed and turned around.
The owl landed on my stretched arm and I winced from it.
The Cruciatus Curse was one hell of a spell.
I took the letter off the owl's leg and he flew back out the window.
I pulled the first letter out of my bra, thankful that the Dark Lord didn't see it.
I limped into the bathroom and started up the bathtub.
I poured in a lavender bubble bath and poured some epsom salt into the bathtub.
I opened the letter so that I had something else to think about.
'My father is working on a spell. I don't know what it is, but I know it's supposed to hurt. As soon as I find the counter-curse I will send it to you.'
This one was also unsigned.
'I can't - I don't - ' I sighed, and put the letters on the floor.
I took off my clothes and put them on top of the letters so that they wouldn't be seen and they wouldn't be wrinkled if the bathroom got steamy.
I brushed my hair before putting it up in a clip. I would wash it when I was done trying to relax my muscles from the torture they went through.
I dipped my toe in the tub and then took it out.
'May as well try and get another vision.' I thought to myself and walked into my room.
"Mrrrow."
"Hello Ariel." I greeted my cat as she stretched out on my bed.
There was a cat door installed onto my door so she must have slipped in when I was getting my bath ready.
"I hope you're having a better day than I am." I told her as I got my bottle of gas.
There was a knock on the door.
"Uh -"
"Cassie?" Draco's voice was on the other side.
"Don't come in. I'm indecent." I told him, trying to get to the bathroom.
"Cassie, you don't have to lie to me." Draco said and started to open the door.
"Don't!" I grimaced through the pain and slammed against the door.
"Cassie -" Draco tried to open the door.
"Draco, I am trying to take a bath. I swear to you if you open this door you will see me naked. I am indecent!" I was starting to laugh at the absurdity of this situation.
Draco stopped trying to push the door.
"Are you serious?" He asked.
"Yes!" I said, laughing.
"I am so sorry." I heard him take a couple of steps away from the door.
"You're okay. Just give me some time to unwind and then you can come in and we can hang out." I told him through the door.
"Okay Cassie."
I waited until I heard his footsteps fade away and took my weight off the door.
My muscles had already started to feel better but I was going to get in the tub to help myself feel better.
I shook my head at the situation that happened and finally got into the tub of warm water.
I had my fog in front of me and I wasn't paying attention to it. I was trying to figure out how to find a hiding place for the letters and stuff I was receiving.
I happened to glance at my purse that I kept my monthly products in when I sat up to look at it.
"Magic! I can make something bigger on the inside!" I said excitedly.
I looked into my fog and focused.
I could feel the start of a cotton ball, but it would go away within a second of me feeling it.
I finally gave up when the palms of my hands were getting wrinkly. It wasn't worth it if I wasn't Seeing anything anyways.
"Narcissa?" I had walked up to my aunt while she was reading.
"Yes darling?" She looked up from her book.
I noticed that she was looking slightly paler than usual.
"Can you make my bag bigger on the inside please? I want to be able to carry more things in it." I handed her my bag.
"Of course," she put her book down and took her wand out.
Narcissa performed a silent spell and handed my bag out to me.
"Thank you." I smiled at her.
She gently grabbed my wrist before I could pull away.
"Are you okay?" She asked, her voice quiet.
I nodded.
"Are you sure?" She asked, her eyes staring into mine.
"I'm sure." I told her, not blinking.
She stared into my eyes a little longer before nodding and letting me go.
