Vrtttt…! Vrtttt…!

As Glenn walked home with his head held low he felt his phone in his pocket vibrate, he quickly swiped it out of his pocket, hoping it was a message from Sadao or the others. Yet to his surprise it was from his friend Sumireko. His eyes lit up as he read the message from his friend

"yoooo! glen! R U free 2nite?" Sumireko's message read out, in nearly unintelligible abbreviations of already easy-to-spell words. Despite how ridiculous Sumireko's way of texting was, Glenn found himself smiling as he quickly responded to Sumireko's text

"Yeah! I just wrapped up being kicked outta my D&D group. I'll be by your place in a few Sumi! :D" Glenn quickly put away his phone as he began to rush back to his dorm. As he arrived he quickly threw all of his belongings into his room before rushing down the hall to Sumireko's dorm room.

Upon arriving he gently knocked on the door, swaying back and forth as he awaited a response from Sumireko who was on the other side of the door, lying on her bed from which she yelled "The door's unlocked Glenn come on inside!" Glenn responded by opening the door almost instantly and letting himself in. As he looked around the room which smelled strongly of lavender due to the incense maker plugged into the wall near the entrance to her dorm.

"Hey there Sumi!" Glenn said as he closed the door behind him and focused his gaze on the only other person in the room, her Purple & plaid dress and her unkempt brown hair immediately were a sight for Glenn's sore eyes. As Glenn took a few steps closer to Sumireko's bed she sat up, put down her phone, and stared into his green eyes with a bright grin.

"I swear every time I text you to come over here, you seem to get here faster and faster each time…" Sumireko said, adjusting her glass before giggling a small bit. Glenn would follow suit before sitting on the floor. "So, you got kicked out of your D&D group huh?" Sumireko said as she went to sit down on the floor next to Glenn.

"That's right…" Glenn said, sighing out a bit as he looked down, a bit bummed out "I just wanted to have some fun, y'know? And look at where that got me…" Glenn looked up to Sumireko, tears welling in his eyes a bit as he began to sniffle. "Is my way of having fun really that bad?"

Sumireko was about to respond before suddenly pausing and biting her lip, stopping to think of what she would say as his words echo through her head. She knew very well how destructive and self-centered Glenn could be and how his way of having fun usually came at the cost of others. Sumireko could call Glenn out on his flaws and point him in the right direction, but this could also risk her and Glenn's friendship. As she sat there alone in her head for what felt like hours she suddenly began to speak up. "Glenn… There's nothing wrong with having fun in your own way…" She said as she lied through her teeth, the guilt of lying to her friend filling her head as she tried to comfort him with her lies.

"Are you sure Sumirek-" Glenn was suddenly cut off as Sumireko put her now-quivering hand over his mouth, tears welling in her eyes, the guilt overwhelming her as she spoke

"I-I'm sure Glenn… You're my closest friend… I-I'd Never lie… to you…" Sumireko wanted so desperately to scream out her honest feelings about Glenn and how he wasn't the best person. Yet almost every bone in her body told her to keep lying, to keep him close. Just as close as she held him at that very moment. And just as fast as the moment between the two had begun it had ended as Glenn moved away from Sumireko, from her rattling yet comforting touch.

"Sumi… I…" Glenn sat there, wiping his tears as he looked at Sumireko before standing up. "I believe you, don't worry, ok?" Glenn smiled as he finished drying his tears with his sleeve. "I'm gonna get going here alright Sumi?" Glenn looked down at Sumireko as she wiped her tears as well, standing up in the process her legs quivering as she struggled to hold in her tears.

"Yeah… It'd be best if you went… I-I don't really like being seen like this…" Sumireko said as she ushered Glenn out the door, "I'll see you tomorrow alright?" Sumireko said as she forced a smile onto her face

"Yeah… Hopefully, we can talk more tomorrow!" Glenn said with the brightest of smiles on his face. Despite what had transpired, Glenn had genuinely felt comforted by Sumireko's words. Despite the lack of sincerity behind them, her words made him feel safe. Justified, even. As Glenn went on his merry way, Sumireko couldn't help but cry after she closed the door. It wasn't a heavy sob, nor was it a wimpy single tear. Not accompanied by any particular whines or groans, sadness or pain. The only thing sparking those tears was a single lie and its heavy toll.

"Glenn…" Sumireko whispered through her tears as she hugged her knees, how many times has she lied to Glenn now? Tens of times? Hundreds of times? Every single lie Sumireko spoke to the boy hit her like a wave as she continued to silently cry. "I'm sorry Glenn… I'm sorry that I don't have the strength to tell you how bad you really are…" Sumireko weakly spoke as she sat there, completely alone with her thoughts.

Upon arriving at his dorm room Glenn was met by the clean yet familiar instrumentals of his Super Famicom. As Glenn hummed along to the familiar Crystal Prelude he knew so well, he plopped back down in front of his TV before picking up his controller and loading up his save of Final Fantasy VI. As he began to play and continue his progress, he found himself struggling through the grueling final dungeon. His team was well prepared with the best armors and swords one could buy or make. Yet despite his powerful gear, he found himself below the recommended level for the area, this and his lack of effective defensive spells spelled his doom as again and again the boy was shot down, unable to succeed or even get a solid footing within the dungeon.

As Glenn was continuously shot down as he tackled the dungeon he found himself getting angrier and angrier with each attempt. As the boy gripped his controller with more force he found himself getting defeated faster and faster until he reached his limits, suddenly Glenn stood up and threw his controller at his TV in a fit of rage. As he did so he turned around, ready to hop into his bed and call it a night before he paused as he heard something come from behind him

"Ow…" A deep womanly voice spoke out from behind him. This made Glenn turn around in an instant, instead of being faced with a woman as he expected, he was met with a purple hole filled to the brim with eyes, their crimson-colored irises, and their deep dark pupils staring into Glenn's soul. The sight made Glenn jump back onto his bed as he armed himself with the closest weapon-like object he could grab, that object being a plastic sword he had hung up on his wall for decoration.

"Who are you!? What the hell are you doing here!?" Glenn yelled at the purple void that replaced the unharmed screen of his TV, as he did so, his controller fell out of the void and back onto the ground where it has usually laid. This was followed by a lady who crawled out of the gap and onto Glenn's floor, her long golden blonde hair strewn across the floor and her plain purple dress was torn across the sleeves. This along with some dried blood staining her dress and skin. This was enough to make Glenn's guard drop as he laid down his plastic sword to help the woman up.

"No… no… I can help myself up…" The woman said as she slowly but surely got to her feet, her saddened expression was only seen for mere moments as her legs gave out, as she was sent falling to the floor, only to be caught by Glenn.

"Here miss, lean on me for a second," Glenn said, worry in his voice as he slowly but surely carried the woman over to his bed to which she sat down and gave a gentle yet weak smile. "Stay there, I have some bandages and such in my bathroom." Without a moment of hesitation Glenn then rushed to his bathroom, coming out with a first aid kit, filled with medical supplies.

"I-I don't believe that to be necessary, Glenn Graves." The woman said as she looked into Glenn's now petrified eyes. "We both have more important matters to deal with here, so I'll cut straight to the chase. My name is Yukari Yakumo." She began as she coughed. "And I'm here to ask for your help, Glenn." Yukari then began to float into the air as Glenn backed away. "As you may be able to see I'm no normal human…" As Yukari spoke, the roaring sound of one of Yukari's void-like portals opened under his controller and his console, as the two fell into the purple void, Glenn found himself watching as the void closed back up, before another one opened right before his eyes. With the console slamming straight into his face, he stumbled backward, holding his face as he groaned out in pain.

"Hey what was that f-" Glenn held her face as he spoke, yet he was abruptly cut off as Yukari continued.

"And as you may be able to tell, I'm much more powerful than the average magical creature," Yukari said as suddenly Glenn found himself flying towards his ceiling, slamming into the drywall with a loud thud. As Glenn recovered from his sudden rise to his ceiling he stood up, looking to the ground as he dusted himself off, only to realize he was standing on his ceiling. The shock and confusion of the situation made him instantly shut up to listen to Yukari. "And I've been roughened up rather badly…" Yukari said as she hid her sneer behind a paper fan. "And the world which I had come from via my gap is currently in danger due to a great evil." Yukari snickered, as she tried to hide her laughter from Glenn.

"Alright… Well if you're coming to me for help… You've come to the wrong person… I'm no hero or anything, I'm just an ordinary guy…" Glenn said as he reluctantly looked away from Yukari, avoiding the gaze of her golden eyes.

"You see, that's because you don't quite see your true potential yet!" Yukari said, almost bursting out laughing as Glenn took her lie at face value. "Glenn, you're a special human, one with the potential to surpass me in raw power and technique alone!" Yukari smiled as she gestured to Glenn, Glenn looked back up to Yukari as she complimented his ability

"I am?" Glenn said as he looked at Yukari, starting to get intrigued by her story.

"That's right Glenn! And that's why I want you to come along with me, to help me save the land of Gensokyo from danger! So will you come with me, Glenn Graves?" Yukari said, holding out her hand, and offering a handshake to Glenn.

"Well, I can't really say no when things sound so dire Miss Yakumo! I'll take your offer and save your world!" Glenn said as he accepted Yukari's handshake.

"Alright then. Let us get going, I don't know how much time my world has left!" Yukari said as another gap appeared next to Glenn. "This way please, Glenn." She says as she ushers Glenn towards the gap, to which Glenn jumped in without any hesitation, maybe even a little too fast for his own liking. As he did and he was gone from sight. Yukari couldn't help but laugh out, her laughter echoing through the empty room. "Did that boy really believe all of my bluffs?" She said through her laughs, unable to believe that a grown man could believe her awful acting and her even worse costume consisting of some old clothes, purple makeup, and some smeared lipstick across her body. All of these things together made a barely plausible excuse for fake wounds. As she finished her laughter she stepped into the gap herself, following after Glenn.
