Kara now in her early thirties it was time for her new life to begin.
It was only a matter of time before her secret was revealed during a match, by a hidden weapon at that. Due to the rules, and the loss of her fans, she was banned from the Underground Fight Club but she wasn't worried, in fact, she decided to retire early.
It wasn't long til she became bored at her newfound freedom.
The sun was beginning to rise when Kara was doing her early exercises of running through the rooftops of New York City. She miscalculated the opening between two buildings and almost didn't make it but the tip of her foot planted on the edge and she pushed herself over, rolling to the surface and laid flat on her back with sweat sliding down her body. Despite the adrenaline rushing through her veins boredom was plastered over her face.
She removed the hood from her head while sitting up, her shoulder length ponytail getting caught, grumbling while trying to get it out knowing it needed to get it cut again. She sat up while playing with her shirt to cool herself off before standing up to continue.
Now in the afternoon she was sitting at a bench eating a chilidog with extra cheese watching the passerbys with boredom til a normal everyday couple caught her eye. Unsure of why she decided to watch them til the man knelt to one knee holding a box out; proposing to the girl.
Her eyes slowly raised, a blush coming to her cheeks, in awe at the two watching the woman get excited and shout a very excited, "Yes!" The people of the park were all clapping and cheering as they shared a kiss, she finding herself clapping softly as well. She stared down at her food, her eyes glossing over at the thought of Donnie proposing to her and what ideas he would think of to do so. An awkward, silly smile came to her face at the thought, clenching her hands til she let out a startled yell when her food got all over her. she jumping to her feet and trying to wipe it off.
Later that night she couldn't sleep. Staring at her slumbering boyfriend her mind began to wander back to the engaged couple and wondered if he would even agree to it. She rolled onto her back for a moment before climbing out of bed and sat at the kitchen, pouring herself a glass of water. She leaned her head against her arm idly writing the words, "Will You Marry Me?" on the table with her finger. Maybe she should propose instead, after all, she was the first one to admit their feelings but..would he be ready? She ran her hand through her hair while letting out a sad sigh, "Would you marry me?" She whispered quietly, laying her head on the table and closing her eyes, the cold surface lulling her to sleep not realizing Donnie had woken up and heard her.
The next couple weeks were a blur to her.
Donnie was unusually secretive, cooped up in his lab, but she wasn't one to pry...at the moment. Sitting in the living room sipping on a milkshake, strawberry banana~, her eyes were glued to the doors of Donnie's lab slowly blinking as if any moment those doors would open and she'd catch Donnie and make him tell her what he's been up to.
"You know it's been three hours, right?" Raph lowered his magazine just enough for his eyes to show.
She responded with a noise for her mouth was full of milkshake but her eyes said, "Shut up."
"Just let it go. He'll tell you what he's doing eventually." He flipped a page over going back to his reading.
"Maybe he's building another robot!" Mikey popped between them surprising Kara to the point of blowing into her milkshake and spraying it all over her, she now starting to gag and fall to the floor, Raph and Mikey laughing at her reaction.
Once she caught her breath she looked down at herself and groaned while standing up, "Guess I'd better head home and clean myself up. I'll catch you guys later." She walked off trying to clean myself not noticing the two smiling to one another.
Now showered and clean she plopped on her bed and tried to calm herself, telling herself he's allowed to have some privacy and began to think of things she could do to pass the time and her mind, "I wonder if I can work as a bouncer for Brilliance. The power..." Her eyes grew big at the thought when her phone notified her of a message, "Meet me at this location; the warehouse where we celebrated your birthday." She raised a brow at the message only for another one to come up, "Oh, and dress nice." She shrugged her shoulders and got up to do so, wondering if he was being cute for a date.
"Thank you, Dragan." Was her thought every time she applied make up, grinning to herself how she was uncomfortable with it as a teen before letting out a soft sigh, "Those were the days.." She whispered, reminiscing of the past.
Stopping in front of the door wearing a short, rolled up sleeve, dress shirt with an attached loose scarf, knee length frill skirt, spandex shorts underneath, and three inch heeled sandals that tied around her ankles. She adjusted her skirt when the door opened and stepped inside to see it pitch black, "Oh no. Not this again." She went to close her eyes but let out a noise when someone came behind her, keeping her eyes open.
"Nu-uh. Can't have you ruining the surprise~" Mikey sung behind her.
"Wait, wha, Mikey? What's going on."
"You'll see~" He lead her further inside all the while she was grumbling about this has happened too many times to be normal. When he stopped her she suddenly couldn't feel his hands anymore and began to look around when one by one lights popped on showing different stages of hers and Donnie's relationship from the time they met, confessed their feelings, to even the adventures they were on. Her mouth was agape slowly walking through the photos, grabbing one of them pulling at the others cheek making the other smile, this causing her to laugh softly.
Hearing another pop she looked up to see a trail of lights leading to the other side of the building and began to follow. When she reached the end she saw a picnic set up. Her cheeks were glowing at everything she saw til she ruined the moment by looking down at her skirt, her lips flattening into a straight line, "How am I gonna do this.." She began to slowly sit down when Donnie was beside her, "Here. Let me help." He chuckled, this making her blush but she accepted his help and decided to sit down on her knees, "You look beautiful."
"Thanks. This is...this is amazing. This must of taken...weeks..to..is this what you were doing the whole time?" She began to eat, he helping her before eating as well, "Mhmm. The main issue was finding the photos; the lights were a breeze..it's crazy what we've been through, huh?"
"Definitely not your everyday events." She chuckled into her drink.
"Love always seemed like a far-fetched fairy tale growing up, knowing my brothers and I were completely different from other humans til I met a beautiful girl that I've ever seen; April." Her face fell at his comment but she let him continue, "Then a loud mouthed, reckless girl popped next to her and fought along side my brothers and I without freaking out and ended up getting hurt and when she woke up she knew our father and ended up joining us to save not only April but the world. The more I hung out with her the more I admired her strength, her wacky yet go-to attitude, and how beautiful she was and it wasn't long til I grew to like her which eventually turned to love."
While he was saying all of this she was slowly chewing her food, her face completely red. Once he was done she looked over to him to see not only the softest expression on his face holding up a diamond ring in the shape of a butterfly. She froze, her mouth agape with some food falling out, her eyes going from the ring to his face.
"Kara Sharper, my life has been nothing but fantastic. Each day seeing your beautiful eyes sparkle with life and your smile that lights a fire in my soul..it makes me want to spend the rest of my life with you..and I want to. Will you marry me?"
Kara's eyes began to sparkle and water at once, her shoulders raising as she took a deep breath, her hair poofing outwards, and her cheeks glowing til she let out an excited yell while throwing her arms around him, toppling over him. They laid on the ground in each other's arms and shared a kiss. "Yes, yes, I will." She whispered, tears streaming down her face yet had the brightest smile on her face.
The two brothers were in the shadows smiling at the happy couple, Mikey trying to keep the tears in.
"This is the third best day of my life." Mikey whimpered, holding a tissue to his face.
Raph glanced at him with a raised brow but kept his mouth closed, not wanting to ask. It wasn't til he had quieted down that he began to grow nervous.
"...Did she kiss him with a mouthful of food?"
Raph closed his eyes, letting out a huff of breath before punching him, Mikey flying off, and him leaving in a different direction.
Both Donnie and Kara looked up midway through placing the ring on her finger wondering what the noise was.
