Clark stands before his father. He is still unsure of where he is, uncertain of what's going on.

"Am I dead?" Clark asks.

"No, you're not. Not yet at least." Johnathan says.

Clark rubs his face, as he tries to figure out where he is.

"It's been a while." Johnathan says.

"It sure has." Clark responds.

"How's your mother?" Johnathan asks.

"She's good, but-

"You wish you could spend more time with her." Johnathan says.

"She needs help with the farm. I know she does. She needs me." Clark says.

"Your mother is the strongest woman I've ever met son." Johnathan says.

"But she still needs me." Clark says.

"We always knew one day we'd have to share you with the world. All the amazing things you can do, you couldn't stay on the farm forever." Johnathan says.

"You did." Clark says.

"And I loved every minute of it. But that was my path in life son, everyone has to find their own." Johnathan says.

"How's Lois?" Johnathan then asks.

"She's good. Wait- you don't know her." Clark says.

"I've seen it all son. Everything you've done and become. I've seen Metropolis, the Daily Planet, Superman." Johnathan says.

"It's hard dad, it's been so hard without you." Clark says.

"Then why do you do it all?" Johnathan asks.

"I don't know, I guess because when I was young, you and Ma taught me that if I have the power to help others, I should do it." Clark says.

"Is that what you learned from your mother and me?" Johnathan asks.

"Yes." Clark says.

"Then I died a happy man." Johnathan says.

Clark looks around. There is nothing but endless white light in every direction.

"You remember your friend Pete?" Johnathan asks.

"Pete Ross?" Clark asks, unsure of where his father is going.

Pete Ross was Clark's childhood best friend.

"The season before we found you, his parents went through a rough harvest. Turns out they were saving patented seeds to replant next season. Word of this got back to the company that created this seed and a lawsuit was filed. They lost the suit, lost their seeds and nearly lost the farm." Johnathan says.

"But they didn't, their farm is still there, Pete runs it now." Clark says.

"That's because we helped them. We gave them half our earnings that season." Johnathan says.

"You and Ma were able to do that?" Clark asks.

"I didn't want the Ross's to lose their farm. If they had, that company would have most likely taken it over and created something very corporate in Smallville. But most importantly I had the power to help." Johnathan says.

Clark ponders what his father was telling him.

"I can't lift buildings, or shoot lasers from my eyes, or fly, but we can all help our neighbor." Johnathan says.

"That's what you and Ma always taught me." Clark says.

"Then wake up son, go to her." Johnathan says.

Clark's eyes widen, he gets nervous.

"But if I wake up, you'll be gone." Clark says, his heart beginning to beat fast, but also the first time he felt his heartbeat at all in this place.

"I'm never gone Clark." Johnathan says.

"But dad, no! I'm not ready to lose you." Clark says.

"I wasn't ready to lose my father either. Who's ever ready to lose their loved one? But even though you've lost me, think of everything you've gained. You have your mother, and Lois, the entire world looks to you for hope." Johnathan says.

"But I look to you for hope Pa." Clark says.

"Then you can always look up, and know that no matter how high you fly, I'm watching over you." Johnathan says.

"No dad!" Clark says putting his hands on his father's shoulders.

"No, no-

"NO!" Clark yells as he sits up.

He looks around. He's inside his arctic fortress.

"Ah, Kal-El, welcome back to the land of the living." The cold robotic voice of Brainiac says.
