Chapter 19: Romantic Time

They were coming back to the present just in time for the new bride and groom to share their first kiss as husband and wife, which caused them both to shyly smile at one another.

When the bride and groom finally pulled back after sharing a very passionate kiss, they all cheered before Sabrina spoke with a beaming smile. "Now let's continue this party at my parents' house."

They all cheered again as the newly married couple walked down the aisle so they could exit the roof and hospital while the rest of the guests, which Nick's family was there as well, followed them.

Once they made it back to Sabrina's parents' place, where everything had been set up in the huge and beautiful backyard, they took their assigned seats before the speeches were said, some in really good fun and others were a little more tearjerker material.

Not long after the speeches were made, the bride and groom had their first dance together, then Sabrina had a dance with her father while Nick had a dance with his mother before the rest of the guests had their turns, and during one of these turns, Sara and Grissom were one of them on the dance floor.

As they were dancing close to one another, he whispered. "So, what were you thinking about while the bride and groom were saying their vows?"

She smirked as she moved her arms so they were around his neck now. "I believe the same thing you were thinking of, our wedding." A slight pause and she couldn't help it with another smirk. "And before you get cute one me, our second one." He chuckled with a nod, then she continued after clearing her throat. "And it did get me thinking of something else that I had never asked that night. What you had planned that day really hung on what my answer would have been, so just for curiosities sake, what would have happened had I said no?"

He took a shuddering breath, and she ran her fingers through the nape of his neck to sooth him before he spoke softly. "Well, if you had so no, I would had been heartbroken obviously, but we would have found a way through it, and Belle and Andre would have had a very nice, expensive date."

She chuckled. "I'm sorry for those two then."

He shook his head with a smile. "Well, last I heard they are still going strong, so they were fine without it."

She chuckled again with a nod before asking softly. "So, you knew I was going to say yes?"

He nodded with another smile and love in his eyes. "At least I had a stronger feeling that it would be more a yes than no. I listened to my heart." He shyly finished. "I listened to yours as well."

With love in her eyes, she replied with a smile. "Very well Dr. Grissom, your observation skills are still very sharp."

He chuckled as she leaned forward so they could share a soft kiss, and after pulling back, right as the song ended, they headed back to the table to hang out with the 'team' and their babies.

A few hours had passed, and a lot of the guests were getting ready to leave, among them was Sara and Grissom, but before they did, Sabrina's mom pulled them aside and spoke with a smile. "I couldn't help but notice you two couldn't stop touching one another."

It seemed like every time Ellen looked the couple's way, they were holding hands, or if one of them was holding the babies, the other person's hand with be on their thigh or knee.

Sara and Grissom looked at her a little shyly, causing the older woman to chuckle lightly before continuing. "And I take it that you two haven't had a night on your own since the twins were born?" After they shook their heads, she finished. "Now you don't have to say yes, but if you want, I can watch them tonight so you two can spend some real quality time together."

They looked a little surprised at her generous offer before Grissom was the one to speak. "Mrs. West…"

She cuts Grissom off with a smile. "Please, it's Ellen, and I would be honored. I mean after all we are somewhat of a family now, right?" They couldn't really argue on that, so they nodded before she continued again. "And you can trust me, I did raise five kids and my eight grandkids are always over."

Grissom shook his head with a reassuring smile. "Believe me, it isn't about trust, my…."

Sara cuts him off with a smile as she placed her hand on his arm. "Griss, maybe we should take her up on her offer."

While Grissom did admit he was surprised, if it was something she wanted to try, he'll be behind her, but he wanted to make sure, so he asked. "You sure honey?"

She took breath and she nodded. "Yes, I'm sure."

Sara and Grissom looked at Ellen and she nodded with a reassuring smile. "I'm really ok with it, if you are."

They looked at one another one more time, and if either one didn't really want to do this, they weren't showing it, so they looked at Ellen once more before Grissom spoke again. "Ok, just give us a few minutes."

Ellen nodded with one more smile. "Take all the time you need."

After more like 30 minutes with their babies, they left the Westbrook house alone, a part of them both feeling slightly uneasy about it, which the feeling was only about them and not who they were leaving them with, but the other part, the husband-and-wife part of them was willing to go through with their decision, really wanting/needing this time alone.

Once they arrived home and made it inside, Sara headed right for the bedroom while Grissom locked up before heading to the bedroom himself.

By the time he took his shoes and socks off, the bathroom door opened, so Grissom stood up from sitting on the bed while looking at his beautiful wife, wearing a blue nighty that went down to her knees with thin straps.

When all he did was stare at her for a few minutes in silence, she smiled. "I really hope your silence is a good thing." Then she looked down shyly. "I mean I know my figure doesn't look the same, and probably won't fully go back to the way it…."

He cuts her off as he lifts her chin up before cupping her cheek. "You my dear look amazing, and I told you this once before, but if you need to hear this again, I'll gladly repeat it." He moved his lips to her ear and whispered with emotion. "Nothing about your body will ever change how I feel about you. In fact, I love you more, knowing what this body did for us, gave us."

She moved her hands to his tie and while taking it off, she whispered with emotion. "And I love the way you love my body." Once the tie was gone then his shirt, she slid her hands up his smooth chest, causing both of their hearts to race as she whispered again. "I've missed you, my husband."

He smiled as he walked them, with her walking backwards, to the bed until the back of her knees hit the end of it. "I've missed you too, my wife."

They kiss lightly before she pulls back then gets on the bed, lays down but props her head on the palm of her hand, giving him that look, so he smiles wider while slipping his pants off.

Now only his boxers, Grissom moved closer to the bed, got on it and moved so he was now above her, then she slid her hands up his chest again until she cups his cheek while replying with passion. "And nothing about your body will ever change how I feel about you either."

They look deep into each other's eyes for a moment before he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, their kisses turning passionate very quickly, and knowing they didn't have to rush a thing, they slowly took their time reacquainting themselves to one another, enjoying every second they had together.

A few hours later

When Grissom woke up, his wife's side of the bed was empty, so he yawned while stretching before speaking loud enough that she could hear him if she was in the bathroom. "Honey?"

After he didn't hear a reply from her, he slipped out of bed, revealing him in nothing but his boxers again, before walking to the chair that was in the room to grab his robe and slipped it on while walking out of the room, which he had a strong feeling on where she would be when she wasn't in bed with him or in the bathroom.

He smiled softly as he stopped in the doorway to the twins' shared room when he saw his wife, who was in her robe, standing between the two cribs. Then he frowned the minute he heard her sniffle and watched her hand raise up, and he could only assume because of the angle, to wipe her tears off her cheek.

"Honey." He whispered a second later.

She jumped slightly, started by his voice, which usually she could sense when he was near, but she must have been too deep in thought with sadness. She then made sure her tears were off her cheek before turning around, instantly seeing the concerned look in his eyes as he walked further into the room.

"What's wrong?" Before she could say something, or more like try to convince him there wasn't anything wrong, Grissom continued with a known look that still had concern in it. "And please don't tell me it's nothing. I heard you sniffle."

She was going to open her mouth to say something, then she shook her and whispered while looking down. "I'm sorry."

Now Grissom looked confused as he shook his head while lifting her chin back up so he could look into her eyes. "Whatever do you have to be sorry for?"

She took a breath before speaking softly. "I want you to know last night was amazing, I felt more connected to you then I probably ever have, which I don't know how that is even possible since I feel it every time, but I'm not strong enough to be away from our babies for two nights, I thought I could do it, but…"

He cuts her off with a warm smile. "That's ok to feel that way, because honestly it feels wrong to me that they aren't here right now either."

A part of her felt relieved that her husband felt the same way she did, but then she sniffled again and spoke shyly. "And you're not just saying that because your wife…"

He cut her off with love in his eyes while wiping her dry tears off her cheek. "No dear, I'm not just saying that." He then leaned forward and whispered in her ear with passion. "And you're right, last night was pretty amazing."

She smiled shyly for a different reason before she sighed while placing her forehead against his shoulder and whispered. "What do we do now, wake Ellen up and say we want our babies back? Then she'll probably never ask to baby-sit again."

He chuckled lightly as he ran a hand up and down her back before replying. "First of all, she's a parent, and I think she'll understand exactly how we feel, and secondly, I know it's going to be hard, but can you wait for a few more hours? Because if our babies continue their pattern, that's when they'll be up again."

He was right it was going to be hard, but it was only a few more hours. Plus, she knew she has something that would keep her distracted and have a little time go by. So, with that thought in mind, she turned her head and moved it closer to his neck and whispered against his pulse point, feeling his body react to it. "And how about keeping me distracted for a bit?"

He felt her lips move against his neck, then up to his jaw, a few pecks on his cheek, and before she could place her lips on his, he did it first, kissing her with a passion she felt down to her toes, which was really nothing new there.

After pulling back, seeing them both with acceptance in their eyes, he slipped his hand into hers and led them back to the bedroom.

Later that morning

After texting Ellen, Sara and Grissom left their house to go pick up their babies.

When they made it to the Westbrook house, Grissom gets out of the vehicle and helps his wife out before they headed towards the front door and Grissom rang the doorbell.

A moment later the door opened, and Ellen smiled at Sara and Grissom, who were now looking a little embarrassed to be here at five O'clock in the morning, causing her to lightly chuckle as she moved to the side to let them in her house.

"There is nothing to be embarrassed about, trust me, I understand fully on what you are going through. I was a first-time mom myself you know."

They chuckled while Ellen closed the door, then Sara asked after clearing her throat. "How did you get past this feeling?"

Ellen smirked as they headed towards the living room. "By having five kids, then we couldn't wait to drop them off somewhere." They chuckled again before Ellen took a breath and shook her head with a loving smile. "I'm joking…well sort of. Worrying about your kids will never go away, no matter how old they get. I mean most of my kids have kids of their own and I'm still worried about them, and I need to talk to them all at least once a week, sometimes once a day, especially when I'm really having a bad day, or else my mind will take me to places I don't want it to go. It's just something you to have to learn to manage or you'll never get anything done, and that will take time."

They nodded in understanding, because while they knew it wasn't to the same degree, they knew how to manage their fear all too well because when they were both CSIs and they weren't working a case together, they would worry about one another, even before they became a couple, which it only got more intense when they did become a couple. But they knew they couldn't think about it all the time because it would only drive them crazy, and he still felt that way, even though she hasn't been out in the field yet since she started her job at the San Diego Crime lab.

When they made it close to the coffee table, she offered them coffee before heading upstairs so she could help her husband get the Grissom twins ready.

Once they got their coffee, Sara walked to one of the glass cases that had five shelves, and on each of the shelves had four pictures (A baby picture, High School graduation picture, College graduation picture, and wedding picture, or in Lily's case an engagement picture) each of the Westbrook 'kids', and a school award or sports trophy, which the three boys and Lily had the sports trophies while Sabrina had the awards, even though they all became some type of doctor, and Lily was becoming one herself, so the others could have had academic awards too, they just weren't shown since the case and shelves were only so big.

Sara smiled at the display, seeing the happy looks from the pictures, she then sighed as she spoke. "I wonder how it felt to live in this household with two parents who clearly love their children and did everything they could for them to succeed."

He paused for a second before replying. "Maybe a little strict, but from what I gathered they respect their parents, so while their parents could have been a little hard on them, they just wanted them to try their best and be happy."

She then smirked as she looked at her husband. "And probably ecstatic that they all have the same line of work as them." He chuckled with a nod before she asked. "Do you think our babies will follow our line of work?"

He sighed and shook his head. "I honestly don't know if I really want them to, at least the CSI part."

She nodded in agreement and understanding. "I know. I don't know if I want them anywhere near all that violence and death either, but I also want them to do something that will make them happy."

Before Grissom could speak, Ellen spoke, who was carrying the two car seats down the stairs. "And that's what all parents want, which yes, that includes us. We never pushed any of them to become doctors, it was just something they all wanted to do."

The parents smile, not only at Ellen's words, but to their babies in their car seats before Grissom couldn't help but smirk. "And now you have a whole team of doctors who are experts on different parts of the body."

They all chuckled, including Michael, who was carrying the baby bags.

The minute Sara took a hold of the car seats after she had set her coffee down, her face just lit up as she spoke to them, feeling more complete than she had been since leaving the reception hours earlier.

After he set his coffee cup down, Grissom took the baby bags from Michael with a smile. "Thank you both, I know it wasn't as long as you two were probably expecting, but…"

Michael cuts him off with a smirk. "But you did get what you needed to get done."

Ellen gasped as she hit her husband's shoulder lightly. "Michael!" While Sara and Grissom almost turned beet red.

Michael chuckled. "What, we are all adults here." He then looks at his wife with another smirk. "And we've been there too if you remember."

Now it was Ellen's turn to get a little embarrassed before Sara spoke with a smile. "Over 40 years with that man, and I take it there has not been a dull moment?"

Ellen shook her head with a smile, Sara and Grissom seeing that sparkle in her eyes that they still get when they are looking at one another, before she turns her head to her husband. "5 kids and 45 years later, he still makes my heart race and gives me butterflies." They smile at one another before Michael kisses his wife on the forehead then she looks at Sara again and shook her head. "And you're right, never a dull moment."

After a few chuckles the Grissoms said their goodbyes, thanked them again before taking their leave.

Once the Westbrooks saw the Grissoms pull out of their driveway, Ellen shuts the door with a sigh, so Michael asked with concern as he places his hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong darlin?"

She shook her head with a small smile as she turned to look at him. "It was just nice having babies in the house again."

Their youngest grandchild, a grandson son from Tommy, was three.

Michael smirked. "Even with the three wake up calls?"

She smirked in return. "We are doctors, we are use to not sleeping anyways."

Michael couldn't really argue with that, so he does a short chuckle with a nod, then he spoke with an encouraging tone, or more like a confident one. "Well one of our daughters just got married, and our youngest is engaged, so don't be surprised for that special announcement soon, maybe even sooner rather than later."

She smirked again. "Or we could be surprised if or when it's one of our sons again."

With their two oldest sons having three kids a piece and their youngest having two, neither one was sure if they were done having kids or not. But of course, they themselves thought they were done after Tommy was born, and then Lily showed up 8 years later, so anything was possible.

He then smirked again. "Well dear you have said many times they were a chip off the old block."

She just chuckled and shook her head as they headed for the coffee table to grab some coffee, then he asked after clearing his throat. "Which speaking of our youngest, is it time to finally address what we've been trying to ignore while concentrating on Sabrina's big day."

She took a sip of her coffee before looking at her husband. "You mean the fact she is marrying a Hamilton?" He nodded with a sigh, and she took his hand. "And I know that a Westbrook and Hamilton marriage was something we always wanted…"

He cuts her off softly. "That was before I found out my best friend since grade school tried making a pass at you the night before our wedding."

Finding that out on the same vacation that Sabrina's heart was broken, placed a crack in the once strong friendship between the Westbrook and Hamilton families, then when the Hamiltons were the ones that basically cut them off in their lives, when it really could have been the other way around, they hadn't spoken in years. So, the only good thing that came out of that vacation was when Michael and Ellen found out a month later they were pregnant with Lily.

She placed a hand up to his cheek. "I know, and you know it's always been you for me."

He always believed that, even after the revelation, so he nodded with a smile as he brings his wife closer to her. "I do know that, and concerning our youngest daughter's upcoming wedding, I just want her to be happy, so if a Hamilton is her choice, so be it." He then smirked while bringing her even closer. "I'll behave during family gatherings."

She just chuckled before kissing him and it only grew with passion, then after they pulled back, he gives her that special look, which caused her to ask. "What, now?"

He slipped his hand in hers to lead her to the stairs. "Well, we are already up, and we both know sleep won't come easy, so why not."

As they get to the first step, she chuckled. "How romantic."

They stopped and he turns to her before speaking the truth with love in his eyes. "I love you more each day I'm with you. I hope our next 45 years are just as magical, you've given me everything I ever wanted and more, and all that I have done in my life would mean nothing without you, I am who I am because of you."

This time she kissed him first and led him up the stairs.

Once the Grissoms made it home, Sara took the twins right to the master bedroom and after Grissom placed the baby bags down on the floor in the room, he went to get their bassinets while Sara took the babies out of their car seats and laid them down on the king-sized bed once the pillows were in place.

When Grissom came in the room with the bassinets, he placed them close to Sara's side of the bed then walked up to her, smiling while watching her watch their babies with a contented look on her face.

He leaned down and kissed her cheek and asked if she needed anything. And when she shook her head, he started changing into sleeping pants before crawling onto his side of the bed.

They watch their little ones for a few minutes of silence, feeling more complete now that they were all in one spot, before she spoke with a smile. "Thank you."

He moved his hand so he could grab his wife's. "There is no need to thank me, but you're welcome. I love you."

She nodded with a yawn, feeling more exhausted each second that went by now knowing her babies were near her again. "I love you too, and will you please make sure…"

He cuts her off while squeezing her hand. "Yes, I'll place the twins in their bassinets before I fall asleep."

She smiled while she lays her head down on her pillow, watching her babies for as long as her eyes could stay open.

Even though Grissom did feel as exhausted as his wife, he wanted a few more minutes of just watching his family, feeling like the luckiest man on earth.
