Chapter 1:

"Not", The first arrow pierces the middle of the target. "To-", the second one lands just above the first one. "Day", the third one was headed straight for the middle, but I missed it by a fraction.

I hear leaves crackling in the distance, and I have an eerie feeling that something or someone is watching me. I lift my bow and point it into the direction that I heard the noise. "Show yourself or I release. If you don't, this arrow will pierce right through your idiotic skull."

After 10 seconds, I see a shadow emerging from the woods, the sun is starting to set, the air damp and chilly. "I didn't mean to frighten you girl," the woman says, pulling something behind her. A small girl, about 3 or 4 years old. "We were just travelling through, got lost along the road when a bunch of bandits tried to attack us." She looks frightened, exhausted. I lower my bow and nod my head towards the girl. "She's my daughter, I was a slave, or still am many would say. My master he, -" She is struggling to continue, pain blinding her. "He raped me, and when he found out I was with child, he swore to sell the baby to another master, and if it were to be a girl, he would kill her. I couldn't let that happen, even if her father is the most atrocious person on earth, she's my child."

"I understand. Come inside, will give you some wine and food. My friend makes some good stew." She ushers the child in front of her, looking back to see if anyone was following. "Don't worry, I will make sure no one hurts you or your daughter. Come, the air is getting colder." I lead her inside the house, the warm air surrounding us like a breath of fresh air. The most welcoming feeling on earth, it saddens me to think that there's so many people that doesn't have the privilege to have these basic necessities

.

The tavern is situated just a little while out of Winterfell. It's small, but cozy. I have been living here for quite some time. My friend, Richard, runs the place. He took it over from his parents, the place got raided by bandits a while back, and he built it up to keep his parents legacy, helping people that doesn't have anywhere else to go to the best of their abilities, alive.

"Richard please prepare a stews for our guests. They are famished. So don't be shy."

"Of course Eira. Anything for you." I roll my eyes and lead our guest toward a table in the corner. "You said you were a slave?" She nods as Richard hands her wine and water for her daughter.

"In Essos. Things were great when Queen Danaerys was ruling, but after she died," a tear rolled down her cheek. I reach for a handkerchief and give it to her. "Thank you, you are most kind. After she died things returned exactly to the way it was, if not worse. I was living on the streets for a while after I lost my home. That's when he found me. "

I reach for her hand. "No need to explain further now. You must be exhausted and hungry. Eat, and rest, there's much more time for you to tell me."

As I wanted to get up when Richard brought their food, she grabs my arm. "You have her eyes. Her caring and soulful eyes."

I open my mouth to speak, but no words escape. I turn and head to my room, latching the door behind me. I sink to the floor, my own tears engulfing me. Just when I think I escape my past, it comes back and haunts me all over again.
