Chapter 59: Jake
The Heelers we're having Breakfast together and getting ready for school. "Thomas?" Bingo asked, running up to her brother. "Yes, Bingo?" Thomas said, looking at his sister. "Can you give this to Tori?" Bingo said, wagging her tail. "Sure! What is it?" Thomas asked. "A present!" Bingo said, still wagging her tail. "Okay, I'll give it to her," Thomas said with a smile before kissing his sister on the top of her head. "Are you Tori going to Smoochy kiss?" Bluey asked, putting her hands together and making a kissing face. "Maybe… or maybe I'll give you one!" Thomas grabs Bluey and kisses her on her head while tickling her. Bluey was laughing while doing so. Thomas looked at both of his sisters and kneeled to their level with a smile on his face.
"Hey, I'll help you two set up your lemonade stand after school and I'll send some customers your way okay?" Thomas said looking at both of them. "You will?" Bluey and Bingo both said wagging their tails. "Yeah, I will," Thomas said as he rubbed the top of their heads and stood up. "Kids, are you ready?" Chilli asked as she grabbed her purse. "Yes, mum!" Both girls said happily "great!" Chilli said with a smile. Chilli and the girls went to the family car while Thomas went over to his car. Thomas got in his car and then started it and went to pick up Tori. Thomas pulled up in front of Tori's house as she was sitting on her porch waiting for her boyfriend. She smiled as she stood up with her beg and walked over to Thomas's car. Tori got into this car and then kissed her boyfriend on the cheek. "Good morning," Tori said while putting on her seatbelt.
"Good morning," Thomas said with a smile. "Oh! I have something for you from Bingo," Thomas said, handing Tori a small box. "Oh how sweet of her," Tori said, taking the box and opening it. Tori then saw a homemade bracelet and a little ticket that read "Two free lemonade for princess Tori and Ronnie" "this is so cute," Tori said while putting on the bracelet. "Looks like my sister wanted to give a free lemonade, Thomas said while driving. "My sisters wanted to have a lemonade stand after school and so I'll be helping them with that," Thomas explained while driving. "That's so sweet of you, I'll come by with Ronnie and check it out," Tori said with a smile. "You and Ronnie would make their day!" Thomas said as he pulled into the school's parking lot. Thomas then parked his car in his normal parking spot.
"Alright, here we are," Thomas said, turning off the car and then grabbing his backpack. Tori then kissed Thomas before getting out of the car. Thomas blushed and got out of the car with Tori and walked her to the school building. Meanwhile, all the school buses started to pull into the drop-off zones and drop off more kids for school. A yellow lab with a pink hoodie walks off the bus with his backpack on his back. The yellow lab took a deep breath and then went to the main office of the school. "H-hello," The yellow lab said, looking at the main office dog. "Hi, how can I help you?" The office dog asked. "My name is Jake, Jake labrador and I'm new here," Jake said nervously. "Oh! We were expecting you! You're also new with that boy over there," The office dog said. Jake turned and saw a white German Shepherd. "O-oh," Jake said now looking back at the office dog.
"Just have a seat with him and we'll get you both your schedules for the day," the office dog said before taking a phone call. Jake nodded and then sat down with the White German Shepherd and waited. "You're new too?" The White German Shepherd asked. "Y-yes," Jake said nervously, looking at the German Shepherd. "Me too, uh my name's Verano," Verano said with a nervous chuckle. "I-I'm Jake," Jake said, looking away from Verano. "Nice to meet you, Jake," Verano said, also looking away. "Y-you too," Jake said nervously, still looking away. "Where are you from?" Verano asked, still looking at Jake. "M-Mexico," Jake said as he gripped his backpack. "That's cool, I'm from Michigan," Verano said with a smile. "That's nice," Jake said, still nervous.
"Verano and Jake, I have your schedule here for you," the office dog said. Both boys nodded and stood up and took their schedules. They both looked over their schedules. "Hey! We have some classes together! And lunch too!" Verano said with a smile while wagging his tail. "That's good," Jake said looking up at the tall German Shepherd. The first warning bell rang for classes to start as they both looked at the time. "We better find our first class," Verano said, grabbing his backpack. Jake looked out in the hall and saw all the kids walking to their classes and getting into their lockers. This made Jake a little uncomfortable as he started to breathe a little hard. "Are you okay Jake?" Verano asked little at the yellow lab. "I-um I…" Jake said as he swallowed hard not knowing how to move with all the kids in the hall. "I can walk with you if you want," Verano said, snapping Jake out of his dizzy spell. Jake then looked at Verano.
"You will?" Jake asked, still worried about going into the hall. "Sure! I don't mind!" Verano said with a smile. Jake started to ease up and nodded. "Alright looks like we have English together with Mr. Terrier," Verano said looking at his schedule. Jake nodded as he then grabbed his backpack and they were off to their class. It started to get hard for Jake as they walked through the hall but with Verano there, Jake felt at ease and hopefully has made his first friend. They made it to the classroom and went inside the room. Verano and Jake sat next to each other as more kids came into the classroom as the final bell rang. Mr. Terrier came into the classroom with his bag and a cup of coffee. He wore a small red bow tie around his neck with reading glasses. "Hello, class!" Mr. Terrier said with a smile.
The class grumbled while getting their stuff out. "Right, glad everyone is alive this morning," Mr. Terrier said as he put his name on the board and started the lesson. Jake felt comfortable in this class and eased up more as he got his books out and started working. A few classes went by and then Verano and Jake had to be split up into two different classes. Verano did at least walk Jake to PE which was Jake's next class. Jake was nervous since this would be the first time he was on his own. "See you at lunch after class!" Verano said, waving before heading on to his next class. Jake sighed and then went into the locker room.
Thomas, Ailfe, Liam, and Sam were in their corner of the locker room while the rest of the class was throughout the rest of the locker room. "Do you guys want to come by my sister's lemonade stand after school?" Thomas asked while getting into his locker. "Sure mate! Why not!" Ailfe said happily. "Sounds like fun, I'll bring my sister," Liam said, putting away his backpack. "Sure! I'll ask my dad to take me by," Sam said while leaning against his locker. "Great! They'll be so excited to see you guys," Thomas said with a smile. Jake walked over to his locker and started to get into it. Zach, Peter, and their friends were in a small group talking to themselves and laughing just a few lockers down from Jake.
"Look at the new kid," Peter said, tapping Zach on his chest. Zach looked at Jake with a weird look. "What a loser," Zach said while studying the yellow lab. "Watch this," Peter said, making all their friends watch. "Nice piercing loser!" Peter shouted to Jake. "Hm?" Jake said, looking at the group. "What are you looking at?" Zach added showing his teeth. "N-nothing," Jake said while trying to get his locker to open. "N-nothing? Are you stupid or something mate?" Zach asked, making his group laugh. Jake then rolled his eyes and continued on his locker now finally opening it. "Hey! I'm talking to you!" Zach said with a light growl. Jake didn't respond to him as he continued getting ready for PE. Zach then walked over quickly and kicked Jake's locker shut and pushed Jake down.
"Do you have a hearing problem or something mate?!" Zach said with a growl. Thomas and his group heard the locker slam and turned and looked at Zach picking on Jake. Thomas knew the feeling of how Zach was and wasn't going to let this happen to another new kid. "Not this time," Thomas said, shutting his locker. "Please, I don't want any trouble," Jake said, now scared for his life. "Oh yeah? Maybe you should have thought about that before showing up to school," Zach said, getting ready to hit Jake in his muzzle. Jake covered himself getting ready to be hit by Zach. Zach was then stopped by Thomas who then pushed Zach back away from the small Lab. "Heeler!" Zach shouted looking at Thomas. "Back off Zach, can't you just let someone have a good day at school?" Thomas asked, now getting in front of Jake who was still on the ground.
"We'll teach you a lesson too if we have to as well," Peter said as he and their group were getting ready to beat up Thomas too. Suddenly Liam, Ailfe, and Sam backed up Thomas and guarded Jake with Thomas. The other kids in Zach's group then backed off while Peter was ready to attack. Zach then told him not to with a look before turning and looking at Thomas. "You're lucky Heeler you have friends but once that little lab is alone he's mine," Zach said before he and his friend left to go to the gym. Thomas rolled his eyes and then looked at Jake who was on the floor shaking. "Hey, are you okay?" Thomas asked. Jake uncovered himself and looked at Thomas and his friends.
"T-Thanks," Jake said as Thomas took his hand out to help up Jake. Jake took his hand and stood up. "Are you new?" Thomas asked, looking at Jake. "I am," Jake said looking down. "Don't worry about them mate, we can handle them for you," Ailfe said, placing his hand on Jake's shoulder. "Yeah don't worry you can stick with us," Thomas said with a friendly smile. "I-I can?" Jake asked. "Yeah! Unfortunately, Thomas here has the most experience with grumpy old Zach," Liam said playfully, slapping Thomas on his shoulder. "Unfortunately it's true, but he doesn't scare me," Thomas said with a smile. "He doesn't scare any of us," Sam added proudly. All of this made Jake feel safe as he started to wag his tail. "We can talk more at lunch about it but we better get to class," Thomas said, rubbing the back of his neck. Jake nodded as they all went out to the gym to start class.
After PE it was time for Lunch. Thomas and his friends walked Jake to the lunch room and made sure Zach and his friends wouldn't bother him. "Thomas?" Verano said seeing his old friend in the hall. "Verano? Are you going to school here?" Thomas asked, surprised. "I am actually! I see you met Jake!" Verano said while looking at Jake. "You two know each other?" Thomas asked while looking at Jake and then back at Verano. "We met in the office when we were getting our schedules," Verano explained as they all went to get their lunch.
They all sat down at their table after Thomas had explained everything that happened to Jake in the locker room. All of the events that had happened made Verano's blood boil. "That jerk! I'll go over there myself and rip his head off myself!" Verano said with his fur fluffed up. "Easy Verano I'm okay really," Jake said while taking a bite of his food. "Don't worry mate, we all said we would protect him," Ailfe said while taking a bite of his sandwich. "Verano, these are all my friends and well guy's remember when I told you about what happened to Bingo… this is him," Thomas explained. "This is the famous Verano?" Sam asked before taking a drink of his soda. "Yep," Thomas said with a chuckle. "Famous?" Verano asked, confused. "I'll explain later buddy," Thomas said. "Hey babe," Tori said, coming up behind the blue Heeler husky mix. "Hey Tori," Thomas said as Tori sat next to her boyfriend.
"Hello miss Tori," Liam said with a smile. "Hi Tori," Ailfe and Sam both said. "Hi, guys!" Tori said with a smile. "Tori, this is Verano and Jake, they're both new but I've told you about Verano before," Thomas explained. "Oh! Nice to meet you both!" Tori said with a smile. "Nice to meet you!" Verano said, wagging his tail. "Hi," Jake said a little quietly. They all ate their lunch and got to know each other more. Liam noticed Zach was staring at their group almost like studying prey. "Do you think if we make faces at him he'll leave," Liam said still looking at Zach. Thomas noticed and looked at Zach and his group. "Fat chance," Thomas said looking down. Thomas then looked to his right and saw Jake drawing a bit. "You draw?" Thomas asked, looking at Jake. "Hmm? Oh yeah I do," Jake said, a little embarrassed. "That's cool, I do too," Thomas said with a smile. "Really? Cool!" Jake said, perking up.
Thomas smiled at that, "hey Jake?" Thomas said, looking at the yellow lab. "Yes?" Jake asked. "Can we be friends?" Thomas asked nervously of how Jake would react. Jake continues to wag his tail. "Yeah! I'd like that!" Jake said with a smile. Thomas smiled, also wagging his tail. The rest of the day went smoothly with Thomas's group of friends helping Jake feel more comfortable with his new life experience in his new school. Thomas went to his car after the final bell rang. All his friends in a group text had said they all would stop by for Bluey and Bingo's lemonade stand. Thomas and Tori left together and started driving to Tori's house. "I'm glad you made a new friend," Tori said with a smile. "Yeah, me too, I think Jake is great! He draws really good too," Thomas said as they drove along the road.
Thomas drove Tori up to her house. "Thanks for the ride," Tori said as she kissed Thomas on his muzzle. "Do you want to wait for you? I can take you by my house if you want," Thomas said as Tori got her stuff out of his car. "Actually it would be good to have a nice walk with Ronnie," Tori said with a smile. "Are you sure?" Thomas asked again. "Yeah we'll be okay Thomas," Tori said with another smile. "Okay, I'll text you when we're up and ready," Thomas said as Tori shuts the door of Thomas's car and goes on the driver's side and again gives him a kiss. "Sounds good to me," Tori said before leaving up to her porch. Thomas watches her go into her house and then heads home.
Now back at home Thomas parks his car and sees his sisters already trying to set up. "Already working on it guys?" Thomas asked while locking his car. "Yeah! But big brother could you please make the lemonade?" Bingo asked while looking at her older brother. "Sure thing sis just let me go wash my hands," Thomas said as he started to make his way into the house. Thomas walked into the house and saw his parents on the couch watching tv and reading a book. "Hey mom, hey dad," Thomas said while going into the kitchen to wash his hands. "Hey mate! How was school?" Bandit asked while looking at his son. "It was good," Thomas said while washing his hands. "Hey sweetie your birthday's coming and your dad and I were wondering what you wanted to do for it," Chilli said, putting her book down and looking at her stepson.
While Thomas was making the lemonade he thought about what he wanted to do for his seventeenth birthday. "Hmmm, can we ask uncle Stripe for a pool party?" Thomas asked, looking at his parents. Bandit and Chilli looked at each other and then looked at their son. "That sounds like a fun idea, I'm sure he would say yes to that," Chilli said with a soft smile. Bandit chuckled as Chilli said that. "What's so funny?" Chilli asked, looking at her husband.
"For his favorite nephew he would do anything for him, don't worry about it mate! Uncle Stripe will say yes to that, I'll make sure of it!" Bandit said with confidence. Thomas chuckled knowing his dad would say the "big brothers always beat little brothers" speech. "Alright dad I trust you," Thomas said while grabbing the lemonade and taking it to the front yard. "Thanks for helping the girls son!" Chilli said as she watched Thomas leave. "Your welcome mom!" Thomas called back to her. Chilli smiled while watching him leave. She felt a tear ran down her muzzle. "What's wrong babe?" Bandit asked, looking at his wife.
Chilli looked at her husband and cuddled him. "He's going to be seventeen and then soon eighteen and then… he'll graduate high school… we both watched him grow up and… it's hard to think Emily's not here watching become the dog he's supposed to be," Chilli said resting her head on Bandit's chest. Bandit thought about Emily and how she would be now seeing their son growing up. "I think she would be very proud to know he's doing the very best he can, being the loving brother and son that he is," Bandit said with a soft smile. Chilli sat up and looked at her husband. "And you… being the great father that you are, she always loved that about you which is why I loved you from the start," Chilli said with a soft smile. Bandit blushed as he then kissed his wife. Chilli kissed him back before they went and continued laying on each other.
