Chapter 18: Back in Time

Nessie's POV

Grandpa didn't say anything. I took advantage of his shock to get the hell out of there as fast as possible. I didn't stop running until I had reached the beach. Going to the hospital had been a huge mistake.

"Did you really think that you'd get away that easily?"

"Gah!" I shouted when I heard grandpa's voice right behind me. "You have a lot of explaining to do kid,"

I took a deep breath to calm myself down. "Nessie how is this possible?"

I sighed a sigh of relief. At least he knew that it was me. I shook my head. "This is going to sound one hundred percent absolutely insane," I paused.

"I'm waiting," he said patiently.

"I think, I, well, I think I went back in time somehow. I don't know how. I just know that I closed my eyes and next thing I knew I was somehow two weeks in the past,"

"Time travel,"

"I told you it sounds absolutely insane. It's possible,"

He put his hand on my shoulder. "I stopped believing in the word impossible a long time ago. What happened to you? You're not human anymore,"

I sighed. "It's an extremely long story,"

"Well I have time and I know the others will be interested as well,"

I noddded my head in agreement. I supposed that was true. "Why don't we go home and you can tell everyone the story at the same time. That way you don't have to repeat yourself,"

"Yeah that's probably a good idea," my heart beat a little faster. I wasn't sure how everyone else was going to take this.

It turned out that I was worried for nothing. My dad gathered the truth from reading my mind right away. Everyone is else was a bit more skeptical of me naturally. Until my dad assured them that I really was Nessie.

So I began to tell them my story. "I don't know how but somehow I have gone back in time. I'm actually from two weeks into the future,"

"How is that even possible?" grandma asked.

"I don't know. I know it sounds crazy but it's true. I can share my story with you all if you'd like," I offered. Maybe they would be much more inclined to believe me if I showed them my memories.

So that is exactly what I did. One by one I showed them everything that I had experienced these last two weeks. "Time travel and the ability to turn vampires human," mom shook her head in disbelief. "Does Aro know?"

I shook my head. "No. I've been managing to keep it hidden from him," I said.

"Good. If he found out what you could do you'd be in even more danger than you're already in," mom said. I shuddered at the thought of Aro finding out about my time travel and turning vampires human gifts.

"Turning vampires human. That's impossible," Uncle Jasper said.

"Neither is time travel," dad said. "Yet she's here. I'm starting to believe that anything is possible now," he said. "all that is left is figuring out what we are going to do next,"

"We're going to stop the kidnapping from happening. That's what we are going to do," mom said.

"Bella that would be a very bad idea," Alice said. "Hold on just let me explain," she said when my mom was about to protest. "If we stop the kidnapping from happening tomorrow then Nessie will never discover her talents and then she will never travel in time,"

"It's like the grandfather paradox," I said.

"The what?" mom asked.

"The grandfather paradox states that if someone goes back to a time before their grandfather had children and kills their grandfather than a paradox would be created. Because the time traveler would never be born and therefore wouldn't go back in time to kill their grandfather. It's a similar concept because if I'm not kidnapped then I will never discover my gift and I will never go back in time,"

"I can't just allow my baby to get kidnapped again," I could hear the pain in my mom's voice.

"I think it's for the best," dad said.

"But-"

"Mom I'm going to be right here,"

"What is all this about being kidnapped?" Jacob asked having just returned home. Seth and Leah were also with him.

"Nessie what are you doing here? What happened to you?" he sounded confused.

So I explained and showed them everything as well. Like my mom Jacob wanted to stop the kidnapping as well. All Seth wanted to do was protect Ella. The idea of her getting kidnapped and being forced to turn into a vampire didn't sit well with him.

I knew that I would have to do something. If Ella wanted I would turn her back into a human. She and Seth could be happy and one day start a family together. If I could salvage that possibility for them I would.

It was decided that I would stay there for the next two weeks until we figured out what our next move was going to be. I'd thought about going back home with my human family. But grandpa didn't think that was a good idea. I might alter the past too much if I interacted with people right now. No. It was best just to let my disappearance occur as it did originally.

I laid in bed anxious that night. Anxious about what was going to happen the following morning. I didn't fall asleep until sometime past midnight.

I could feel someone shaking me awake gently the following morning. I was a bit irritated as all I wanted to do was sleep. I hadn't slept all that well the last two weeks. The burning in my throat became soo intense that it was difficult to concentrate on anything else. I opened my eyes and was surprised when I saw Rosalie standing right next to me shaking me awake gently. My aunt hadn't said much during or after my conversation with everyone last night.

"Nessie there's something that I want to talk to you about,"

"Okay," I said wandering what it was that she wanted. My throat burned. But I pushed the pain to the back of my mind for now.
