Chapter 29 The Hall of the Dragon
Note: This and chapter 30 were originally one chapter, but it ended up being too long so I decided to split them. It's probably for the best, 30 chapters is way neater.
They walked into what looked like a massive cavern. Walter carried Hope's soulless body.
"Now then…Where's this legendary spirit? Perhaps it's wasted away lo these many years…?", Walter said.
"For humans to have the gall to step into the Hall of the Dragon…", a voice said as the Samurai started looking around searching for the source.
"What in blazes…?", Walter questioned.
"Everyone, look!", Jonathan said as he pointed to a massive shadowed figure on the ceiling.
The sheer size of it made them gape.
"Oh…shit. I'm going to die anyway…", Nathan said, in extreme pain.
The massive creature flew down casting a massive shadow over them. As it flew down the shadows around it cleared revealing its form. The creature landed in front of them looking down at them like ants. It was a green and purple serpentine dragon with wings. It had a black chestplate with a green gem. It had a black and gold helmet on its head. Its body was very muscular and it was ridden by a small knight that looked like a doll in comparison. The knight had similar wings and bird-like armor. He had long white hair and a javelin in his hands.
A barrier of wind appeared in front of the exit preventing them from passing.
"Over a thousand and five hundred years have passed since I formed a pact with my master…You are either truly skilled or fools indeed to ignore his warning. I will dine on your souls that wishes to mingle with the Unclean!", the knight said as he pointed his spear at them.
Flynn instantly reacted by raising up his gauntlet. The others turned to him stunned.
"The king said to get the sacred deck and that's what I'm going to do.", Flynn said.
"H-Hoy Flynn, wait!", Walter said.
"Hoy, you're in no condition to duel right now!", Issachar said.
Burroughs activated the coin toss function as their gauntlets linked. Flynn changed his gauntlet back to stun mode.
"Duel!/Final duel!", the two said.

"I activate Future Fusion allowing me to reveal one fusion monster from my extra deck then send its materials to the graveyard. On my second standby phase after this card's activation the revealed fusion monster will be fusion summoned.", Barcha said, before revealing Five Headed Dragon.

The Samurai gaped seeing a monster with a staggering base attack of 5000.

Reveal 1 Fusion Monster in your Extra Deck and send, from your Main Deck to the Graveyard, the Fusion Material Monsters that are listed on that Fusion Monster Card. During your 2nd Standby Phase after this card's activation, Special Summon 1 of that Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck and target it with this card. (This Special Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon.) When this card leaves the field, destroy that target. When that target is destroyed, destroy this card.
"I will send Dragunity Akyls, Dragunity Brandistock, Dragunity Corsesca, Dragunity Phalanx and Dragunity Pilum.", Barcha said.
"It's like five Foolish Burials!", Jonathan commented.
"Don't forget that fusion monster will appear after two of his standby phases.", Isabeau added.
"I activate Dragon Ravine! Once per turn: I can discard a card to activate one of its effects!", Barcha said.

The area around them changed to a ravine with a sunset.
"I activate its first effect to add one level 4 or lower Dragunity monster from my deck to my hand! I will add Dragunity Dux then normal summon it!", Barcha said, discarding another Phalanx.

"When this card is normal summoned I can choose one level 3 or lower Dragunity monster in my graveyard to equip to it! I choose Dragunity Phalanx! I activate its effect when it is equipped to a monster! It can special summon itself!", Barcha said.

"You Samurai truly seem to be mere children. I tune Phalanx with Dux! Two hearts and souls unite! The vibrant dragon and a fierce knight! Synchro summon! Level 6! Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana!", Garcha chanted.

They were blown away by a gust of wind at the summoning. However, Flynn kept his feet planted in the ground not moving an inch. Barcha seemed rather impressed by this.
"Ha, 1900 attack points?! That weak synchro monster is all you've got?", Walter questioned as the others looked at him.
"Truly mere children. I activate its effect to equip one level 3 or lower Dragunity monster from my graveyard! I choose Phalanx! Then, I will activate its effect special summoning itself once more!", Barcha said.
"He's synchro summoning again?!", Walter questioned.
"I activate the effect of Dragunity Arma Mystletainn! I can special summon it by sending one Dragunity monster I control to the graveyard! I choose Phalanx! When this card is normal or special summoned it can equip a Dragunity monster from the graveyard as well! I choose Phalanx!", Garcha said.

"I will special summon Phalanx then I end my turn. Now come, Samurai. Put on a good show…", Garcha said.
Flynn's gaze hadn't broken from Garcha the whole time. Even when faced with such a spirit his gaze remained dauntless.
"I draw!", Flynn said.

"Why was Ys allowed to pass?", Flynn asked.
"You are referring to that dark one I suppose. He has already turned away from The Lord. If anything it's safer for Mikado for him to be in the Unclean One's country.", Garcha replied.
"What kind of crap is that?! You could have stopped him if you're really this legendary spirit!", Issachar replied.
"Yeah! What are you a chicken?", Walter questioned.
"I am simply fulfilling my duty.", Garcha replied.
"Duty my bottom!", Walter replied.
Flynn's gaze deepened as he gripped his hands tightly.
"He's stopping us instead of that heretic?!", Flynn thought.
"I activate Allure of Darkness. It allows me to draw two cards at the cost of banishing a dark monster in my hand. Then, I will activate Tuning allowing me to add one Synchron monster to my hand and send the top card of my deck to the graveyard. I choose Unknown Synchron.", Flynn said as Garcha narrowed his eyes.
He banished Vampire's Curse. The card that was sent was Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon.
"Synchron…?", Garcha questioned, as he did an he imagined an image of another overlapping with Flynn's own.
The image was of a man who looked identical to Flynn with armor resembling the Black Samurai, but without the helmet.
"I activate the effect of Unknown Synchron when my opponent possesses a monster and I don't. Once per duel, I can special summon it from my hand.", Flynn said.

"I summon Mezuki. Then, I will tune Unknown Synchron with Mezuki! Reawaken mystic relic from a time long past! Justice still needs you! Synchro summon! Level 5! Ally of Justice Catastor!", Flynn chanted.

"I activate Book of Life. I can special summon one zombie monster from my graveyard and banish a monster from your graveyard. I choose Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon to revive and I'll banish your Phalax.", Flynn said.

His dragon crawled up from the ground and roared at Barcha.
"It must have just been my imagination. Ryou is long dead.", Garcha thought.
"I will set two cards face down.", Flynn said.

"I will attack your Vajrayana with my Red-Eyes.", Flynn declared.
Garcha LP 4000 - 500 = 3500
"Then I will attack your Phalanx with Catastor! Neo Thunder Ray! His effect automatically triggers since your Phalanx is a non-dark monster instantly destroying it! Evil Denier!", Flynn declared.
"Looks like Flynn sees Phalanx as a bigger threat than Mystletainn.", Isabeau commented.
"I end my turn.", Flynn said.
"For Aquila! I draw!", Barcha said.

"You seem to have some skill…But it pales in comparison to what my master Aquila was capable of. Do you genuinely believe it will be enough to triumph over me?", Garcha questioned.
"I am determined to win.", Flynn replied, without missing a beat.
"Hngh…'Determination'…Children you may be, but the strength of one truly determined is formidable indeed…I have perhaps misappraised you…If so, I must brace myself with all my strength as well.", Garcha said as he imagined Flynn as Ryou for a moment again.
"That was well done. You matched him measure for measure!", Walter said.
"I activate the effect of Alector, Sovereign of Birds! When my opponent controls two or more monsters with the same attribute I can special summon it! Then I can target one face up card and negate its effects. I choose Catastor.", Barcha said.

"Then, I activate the effect of Dragon Ravine! I discard a card to add Dragunity Dux to my hand! I will normal summon him, allowing me to equip Phalanx from my graveyard. Then, I will special summon Phalanx.", Barcha said.

"I will tune Phalanx with Alector! Gallant knight of the winds and a noble dragon combine! Our fierce tempests will blow away all intruders! Synchro summon! Level 8! Dragunity Knight - Barcha!", Barcha chanted.

Barcha flew down to the field on his dragon. It's created another fierce tempest much stronger this time making most of them fall over. Flynn struggled but continued to stay up not yielding to the storm.
"I can target any number of dragon Dragunity monsters in my graveyard and equip them! I choose Dragunity Akyls, Dragunity Brandistock, Dragunity Corsesca, Dragunity Phalanx and Dragunity Pilum! Then I gain 300 attack for each? Grand Dragonic Legion!", Barcha said as the Samurai tensed.

"You can feel the power radiating from those cards.", Isabeau said.
"Well, little Flynn's dead. Serves him right.", Nathan said, smirked.
"Then I will activate Phalanx's effect special summoning itself! Then I will tune Phalanx with Dux! This knight and dragon pierce through the wind and their enemies! You won't be any different! Synchro summon! Level 6! Dragunity Knight - Gae Bulg", Garcha chanted.

Another wind blew the others off their feet as they just got up.
"T-this doesn't look good for Flynn!", Navarre said.
"This is the end of the line, human! I attack your Catastor with my Gae Bulg! I can banish one winged beast monster from my graveyard to have it gain its attack till the end of this turn! I choose Dux! True Dragon Lance!", Garcha declared.

"Then I will attack your Red-Eyes! Tempest Break!", Garcha declared.
Flynn LP 2700 - 800 = 1900
"When I destroy a monster while I have Corsesca equipped I can add one level 4 or lower monster from my deck with the same type and attribute as the monster it equipped to! I choose Drag-unity Aklys! Now, with the effect of Brandistock I can attack twice! This is the end! Tempest Break!", Garcha said as the others looked fearful.

"I activate Nutrient Z! When I'm about to take 2000 or more battle damage I gain 4000 life points first!", Flynn countered.

Flynn raised up his hands to guard wincing as the dragon sent a torrent of wind at him. It was so strong he felt it cutting him like small knives. Flynn was littered with cuts from the attack.

"That won't be enough! I attack you directly with Mystletainn! Golden Dragon Strike!", Garcha replied.
"I activate Defense Draw! I can make the battle damage zero and draw a card!", Flynn countered.
A barrier appeared around Flynn guarding him from the torrent of strikes as he drew a card.

"H-How did he survive that?!", Nathan questioned.
"Because he's our leader of course!", Walter replied.
"Flynn's become much stronger since even last time we met.", Issachar said, looking at Nathan.
"He's not one to give up easily.", Jonathan said.
"Hah. You surprised me there. You are determined indeed.", Garcha said as he met Flynn's gaze.
"I won't lose to you.", Flynn replied simply.
"We'll see about that. I end my turn.", Garcha said.
"I draw!", Flynn said as a fierce wind kicked up and ghostly howling could be heard from the wind.

Flynn read the cards on his gauntlet intently.
"Final turn!", Flynn declared, shocking everyone.
"He's getting real serious now!", Walter said.
"He's full of it!", Nathan said.
"A chorus of monsters? It's like his whole deck is supporting him. I haven't seen anything like it since…", Barcha thought.
"I activate Terraforming allowing me to add one field spell to my hand! I choose Zombie World! Then, I will activate it! When it's active all monsters become on the field and graveyard zombies!", Flynn said as Garcha's eyes widened.

A purple fog entered the ravine and blue wisps passed by. The place gave Garcha an eerie feeling. He looked over to his fellow monsters seeing they had become zombified. He looked down at his dragon then his hands seeing they were zombified too.
"That's very dangerous…", Garcha thought.
"I activate Marionette Mite! I can discard it to take control of one zombie or fiend monster you control! I choose you!", Flynn declared as Garcha looked stunned.

"What?!", Garcha questioned, actually sweating.
The insect flew up, attaching itself to Garcha's dragon. Its eyes glowed purple as it went over to Flynn's side. Garcha fell to the ground catching himself mid fall using his wings and met the gaze of his mount that looked down at him.
"Nngh…Have I met my match…? Do the Samurai have no limits?", Garcha questioned.
"Indeed not.", Flynn replied, with determination.
"For the day to come again that I feared the prospect of defeat…Aquila…they may be…", Garcha said as he grew disturbed.
"I banish my Mezuki to special summon a zombie monster from my graveyard. I choose Red-Eyes!", Flynn said.
"You've gotta be kidding me?! How does he keep getting so lucky?", Nathan questioned.
"It's because Flynn has a bond with his monsters.", Jonathan said.
"That's what happens when you put so many eggs in one basket! First I'll attack your Mystletainn when Red-Eyes! Inferno Necro Blast!", Flynn said.
Garcha LP 3500 - 300 = 3200
"It's effect activates allowing me to special summon a zombie monster it destroyed! Dragonic Domination!", Flynn said.
Garcha paled as another one of his allies was snatched away. It seemed almost villainous.
"I attack you directly with your steed! Tempest Break! I use the effect of Pilum when it's equipped to a monster! The equipped monster can attack directly however the damage is halved when this effect is used to attack directly and due to Brandistock it can attack twice!", Flynn declared.
The dragon struck its former master with a torrent of wind. The winds were so strong they cut his skin like sharp knives.
Garcha LP 3200 - (3200/2) = 1600
"That's 3200 damage all together! Flynn's won!", Issachar said as he sweat.
Garcha was suddenly struck again, being blown off his feet.
Garcha LP 1600 - (3200/2) = 0
"Some legendary spirit, he should have just done that to Flynn during his turn!", Nathan complained.
"It wouldn't have mattered.", Flynn replied, before revealing the last card in his hand to everyone.
They gasped in shock seeing it was Battle Fader.
"I could have completely stopped the battle phase if he attacked directly. I wanted to draw a card so I used Defense Draw. If he attacked me using his monster effect I could have used Defense Draw on the first attack. Then after the second attack I would have had used Battle Fader. Either way things would have ended up the same. I've had this card since turn 1." Flynn explained, leaving them stunned.
"I-I had not thought…you could be so skilled…No wonder…you are descendants of Aquila…", Garcha said as he staggered to his feet.
"Garcha. You have proved your devotion to your master, King Aquila.", Jonathan replied.
They were surprised as Garcha's body and his dragon's started to dissolve. He shakily held the deck in his hands.
"…I am undone…F-Forgive me…Aquila…Our pact…ends here…", Garcha said.
He walked over to Flynn placing the sacred deck in his hands. Flynn attached the sacred deck's deck box to his belt.
"But perhaps…we can entrust…the future to them…". Garcha said, before both him and his dragon disappeared.
