Hearing the door lock automatically behind him brought forth a wicked grin as Kai raked her frame from the floor up, pausing on Bon's wide-doe eyes looking not at all ready for the sexual onslaught she was about to receive. Stalking towards her, one leisure step after the other, he glanced to her feet copying him wondering if she was even aware of her movements. Advancing another step, she was only three missteps away from backing into a pillar separating the rooms and kept his face impassive as he took another, and then one more. A mixture of emotions swirled around that enticing gaze, her physical actions screaming back off as her irresistible burning hunger towards him pulled him forward to take the final step hearing the satisfying gasp leaving her as she connected against the hard surface.
"Going somewhere?" Bon's pulse thrummed wildly in her neck watching his fingertip trace a line down her skin from below her ear to collarbone, flicking his gaze back to hers and arched a brow in question.
"No." The word came out breathless against his face, hardening breathing in the scent of her light perfume and whiskey when she spoke, wanting to taste.
Groaning softly his body flattened against hers making sure she could feel every inch of need he had for her and tugged the material between them pulling the tank top over her head. Kai's smile spread seeing she had blessed him on his birthday wearing no bra and dropped to his knees, hooking his thumbs pulling her skirt, belt, and panties down with him. Scooping the discarded belt a mischievous thought took hold and rose slowly back to his feet, gently but firmly pushing her arms behind the pillar securing a knot in place with the fabric around her wrists. Question and wonder filled Bonnie's eyes but she didn't express them so he said nothing to defuse whatever internal battle she had going, opting to get his point across another way.
Once again Kai dropped to his knees on the hardwood floor getting a grip on the back of one of the heels and maneuvered her leg with ease hiking it over his shoulder. Gliding his tongue up through the center of her folds had them both coming undone from the simple action, her tugs of protest against the restraint making him hum in delight against her sex. Bucking into him her bent leg dug its heel into his back drawing him in closer as the other began losing its strength to keep her upright.
Slipping his fingers through her wetness two found her entrance and pushed through without warning as he sucked on her clit feeling every ounce of her squeeze him tight. The instant his pinky circled her rear her knee wobbled and gave out, his other arm coming up to anchor her to the wall and curved her hips to give him deeper access. The hoarse cry of his name had a growl bubbling up his throat and pushed his finger through the resistance feeling Bon's frame begin to shake.
Moving his mouth and hand in synchronization Kai knew he was hitting every sensitive nerve-ending accessible and loosened his grip keeping her upright forcing her body down to take in the intrusion, sending her over the edge. Wiggling around desperately against him and the restraints Bonnie rode out her orgasm against his face, sucking and licking every ounce until she was shuttering from sensitivity. Pushing to his feet Kai inspected the glistening, writhing beautiful girl tied to a pillar, still struggling to yank her wrists free reaching back to stop her.
"Easy. You know you could have just used the spell to unbind yourself, right?" The half lidded lust-induced look seemingly having a hard time seeing him straight was more than enough of a response to tell him it had never even crossed her mind, chuckling at her innocence as he waved a hand over hers. "Oh Bonster, what am I going to do with you?"
Her newly unbound hands wrapped around his neck pulling him flush to her, whispering against his lips, "take off your clothes."
Kai felt like stone he was straining against the zipper of his jeans to the point of pain, unsure if he'd blow the moment he was free. Bonnie's bare sex rocking against the denim puffed a harsh huff out of him pulling the button free and zipper halfway down in one sharp tug. Warm, smooth thighs slid over his pulling his pants and boxers down with it surging forward on impulse. Hooking her legs resting them in the crook of his arms she was spread wide for him, shaft sliding through her folds teasing the both of them through gritted teeth; Bon's whimper in response rocking forward trying to take charge herself. Bending his knees with his hands gripping each cheek Kai groaned at the intense pressure of her entrance resisting the head of his dick, and then the pounding on the front door began.
"Kai! Open the door! You're not answering your phone!" Of all people to cock block him – and he does mean that in the most painful literal sense, he never expected it to be his longtime best friend. The pounding continued. Shaking his head he tried to tune her out and pressed forward an inch, skin misting hearing Bonnie's sharp inhale. "Don't make me unlock this door because I will!"
"DON'T even think about it!" he roared over his shoulder, tensing when Ash wiggled the handle.
"Open the damn door!"
"No!"
"You have ten seconds!"
Laughing out a sound of disbelief Kai placed Bonnie's feet back on the ground, stopping her when she reached for the scattered clothes.
"I'm not done with you yet." Pulling his boxers and pants up still pooled around his ankles he grouchily readjusting himself and chuckled watching her grab his shirt to pull over her head and flee from sight, yanking the door open. "What?"
"Ugh put a shirt on," Ash rolled her eyes, "and then come with me we need you downstairs."
"What?"
"That grand speech you made before moonwalking out of the Ballroom? I guess not everyone was willing to just breeze by it and now they're pissed and your dad is the crowd."
"So?"
"So I think the Leader of our Coven should be part of this important meeting where everyone is already discussing important things, like Bonnie's friends."
"What about them?"
"Kai they're vampires and you didn't think to let anyone know that and I'm not even talking about the Coven… I mean the kids. You didn't tell Cody and Danneel is not letting it go. And she's had a lot of drinks. I need you to come with me; it was getting bad when I left."
"How?" Ash eyed him warily, trying to peer around his frame taking up most of the space in the door into the room. Kai was fully aware it's against the rules to discuss Gemini matters in front of anyone not in the Coven, but he didn't care about any of that when it came to Bonnie. "What?"
"Would you just come with me?" she whispered in a hiss. "You're wasting time."
Sighing out a rough exhale he stalked into the suite finding his suitcase in the bedroom and yanked out a t-shirt, standing to Bon's reflection in the mirror standing in the doorway to the adjoining bathroom in nothing but his shirt, barely covering her thighs. Another deep sigh left him, this one in an attempt to gain the strength to walk away from one of his top three favorite ways to find her.
"You're leaving?"
Hanging his head he turned, slipping his arms through the sleeves and ripping it on as he spoke. "I won't be long."
"Is it about what you said on stage?"
"Yeah."
"Kai," the sorrow in her voice lifted his eyes to her shoulders drooping and stared down to the floor, "this is my fault."
"How do you figure that?" he crossed the room as he spoke. "Because my dad and Liam cornered and scared you?"
"Because I'm your blind spot, I can make you act… impulsively," her voice was soft with her eyes trained at her feet, jumping slightly at his sudden close proximity. His finger dipped under her chin gently lifting pulling her eyes back to his.
"Is that a bad thing?" he matched her tone, his deepening seeing her apprehension churning. "I like the way you make me act."
"Does this have to do with Care and Elena too?" Kai didn't want to answer, but he wasn't going to lie, so his silence sufficed with her single nod. "Like I said."
"I don't care what they have to say Bon, and it doesn't matter either way I have final say over everything."
"They can't do a group vote and overrule you on something if it's big enough?"
'Yes.' "No."
"Why not?"
"I would kill them," he shrugged as her eyes widened.
"What?"
"What? You don't challenge the Leader. But that's irrelevant everything's fine, I just need to go because Ash –"
"Is standing in the doorway because she's been waiting for five minutes for you to put a shirt on."
"Oh Ashley I'm sorry-"Bonnie began trying to wiggle out of his grasp and cover herself.
"Oh stop that I'm not directing any of this towards you, and I apologize for interrupting because you look positively adorable, but I need to steal your our leader."
"No of course, I'm – I understand. I'll hang here 'til you get back."
Kissing her once, twice, and soaking in every ounce of this image Kai begrudgingly followed his friend out of the Suite and down the hall to the elevator, punching the L button.
"What am I walking into?"
"Danneel is being a drunk whiny bitch complaining about fraternizing with the enemy and not knowing what's going on with all of you living so far away. Cody is just about dying of embarrassment and was about to get into it with Dean which was why I ran out of there to get you. But it was really because… one of the Elder's mentioned a prison world."
He stiffened as the door opened. "Who?"
"William Walsh, he said they had to lock away a vampire before, not that any of us have even heard of any such thing. Maybe it's dementia or something."
"He was in charge before my father," he said in a hushed tone going through the Lobby towards the Ballroom door, "he might be privy to information the rest of us were not."
"Yeah but you are now, how would you not know about it too?"
The prudent question lingered in his mind entering the room to what appeared to be every member of the Coven, standing amongst each other visibly divided between a few feet seeing they were taking unconscious sides on the topic.
"And that's all I have to say on that." The raspy, aged voice of the man they were just referring to spoke out with clarity, Kai's chuckling bringing forth the attention of the room.
"Oh do continue, William. I'm very intrigued to find out as to why the members of my coven are congregating without their leader. Who is behind this, as if I have to ask?"
"Son, you have to be transparent with us," his father took a step out from the group.
"Like you?" he retorted, scanning and noting which side they all stood on. "So what's the problem?"
"Oh like your right hand man didn't run up and go tell you everything," Dani rolled her eyes, checking Dean's uneasy expression beside her. "Gemini's what are we even doing, we're going to keep circling around to this discussion because it is unacceptable to be rubbing shoulders with our mortal enemies. Cody told me those girls were only turned a couple of years ago so they are still young and bloodthirsty and could kill our children. And they aren't even the only ones! Isn't that right, Commander?"
"It is, and they've been around a century or two so I'd say the two groups balance each other out."
"And who are those vampires, again?" the accusation in her tone rose the hairs on the back of his neck, arching a brow.
"Why?"
"Damon and Stefan Salvatore." his eyes sliced over to his father's response, then Dani, stopping at William.
"Something special about that?"
"The Gemini's and the Salvatore's do not associate with one another; it has always been that way."
"Any reason in particular?"
Kai's voice was steady but his insides were liquefying, the curse on the Gemini, Bennett, and Salvatore bloodlines ringing clearly in his head. It was a well-hidden secret on the Bennett's bloodline, keeping full documentation on every single interaction they've had with any Gemini and Salvatore but they wouldn't know the intermingling's of the two bloodlines together. The thought hadn't crossed his mind.
"In 1903 we locked away a Salvatore vampire in a prison world after they slaughtered a member of each family before she fled and was found and banished to somewhere in Europe."
"What's your source?"
"I don't have to answer to you."
"Yes, you do," they both heard the authoritative command, members standing straighter at the shift.
"I heard the story from my great-grandfather when I was a kid; he was one of the one's left to survive."
"Where's the documentation?"
"It must be somewhere-"
"But you've never seen it?"
"It must be sealed up and hidden away buried in the archives, but it did happen."
"Because your great-great-grand pappy told you?"
"Watch your mouth, boy."
"Watch your tone," he ground out narrowing his lids, "and what did you just refer to me as?"
"Nothing, Leader Parker."
Shaking his head Kai's teeth clenched so tightly he thought they may chip, turning his attention to his father. "Have you heard about this before?"
"It's a first for me," he responded with ease, skeptical on what to believe, "in all the years I led this coven I never came across any information on a prison world in 1903 or who was trapped inside. I would have stepped in when Lucas and Olivia became involved with that whole group."
"Knock it off with that, you were willing to murder your first-born children so you could stay the leader. Why would this be any different?" Dean couldn't seem to hold the words in any longer if his fists by his side were any indication. "You don't care about your family."
"I care about this coven, like our motto says it is 'coven over blood' and every single thing I have done has been to ensure that."
"You're so full of shit."
"Stop it, you're getting us off track," Dani jeered with a glare to her side, "what are we going to do about the vampires?"
"We aren't doing anything," Kai enforced, exhaustion and aggravation taking over pinching the bridge of his nose, "they haven't done anything, to any of us, Dani. They're the same people they were before you just didn't know it."
"That's exactly my point Kai not only was I not aware that you were cozying up with a group of people who literally kill people by draining them of their blood… you didn't tell my son that the girl he was crushing on is an undead supernatural creature that isn't even human."
"We're supernatural creatures too," he shrugged unfazed, smirking at the fury igniting towards him. "The amount of times those two have actually been alone was probably that one time at the Campground. He was never in 'danger' and if you feel that strongly about it, he can start drinking vervain. Problem solved."
"You think this is all just one big joke," she scoffed.
"Yeah can you tell how much fun I'm having?" Kai made sure the rage he was feeling bled into his words, a warning to everyone in the room. "Getting pulled out of my Suite – on my birthday – in the middle of the night to argue with my coven. If you all have an issue with the kids 'consorting with the enemies' then they can ingest and wear vervain to repel them from compulsion as well as poison our blood if they ever were attacked. If that isn't enough… I don't have to be the guy to point out we're all witches in this room, right? We know spells, potions, and we're all around stronger. So why are you all even here? What are you demands? What are the causes for concern besides that?"
"Some of us are pretty enraged and disgusted about what we heard from you, bud," his surrogate older brother quipped to his right.
"And other's remember the type of person you were and that you tend to fabricate and twist stories," a woman his dad's age spoke up to his left.
"Yeah while we have been hanging out with you for months since the merge happened and can vouch for the person you are now," AnnaLynne defended him staring down the woman across the room. "You're talking about someone from twenty or thirty years ago. I'm talking about someone all five of us just spent a weekend camping with."
"You don't know what you're talking about," a man beside the woman sneered watching Ash's face grimace in response at his side, "or who for that matter."
"Then neither do you," Hayes snapped back, the same fire in his eyes curving a corner of Kai's mouth up. "Did you even hear what he said on that stage?"
"We heard him," another spoke up on his left, "we've also grown up with Joshua and know him very well."
"So what does that mean? You think he was lying?" The man stayed silent at Hayes' accusation, Turner chiming in.
"Then you're just as fucked up too."
"Michael!" A woman that had to be his mother screeched
"I'm sorry mom but that is crazy. Kai isn't the problem."
"The vampires are, thank you," Dani redirected the crowd and he put a hand up halting her open mouth.
"We're done with that. I'm tired and I'm talking in circles to appease all of you that aren't even listening. Like me, hate me, I don't care, because you're stuck with me. And you will follow my orders. Challenge me, and I will deal with you directly. Now, is there anything else that needs to be discussed tonight?"
Silence hung thick in the air, staring down Dani, until she finally relented. "No."
"Good. Let's all get some sleep it'll be check out time in a few hours. Thank you again for attending tonight for me and Josette. Goodnight."
With the final word everyone starting off towards the exit, successful in ending the conversation and went down the hall, taking the stairs to avoid everyone and clear his head and was thoroughly regretting it ten floors up. By the time he reached his floor he was winded, dizzy, and calves were on fire dragging himself into the Suite. Checking the clock he had to do a double date making sure it really said 4:27AM and growled out in frustration heading for the bedroom. The abrupt shift from annoyance to adoration hit him like whiplash seeing Bonnie curled up and asleep on top of the covers with her side lamp on – she must have been waiting for him.
Pulling off his shirt and pants he gingerly peeled the comforter and sheet out from under her tucking her in and hitting the light. The shift of him moving the mattress made her stir, holding his breath hoping she didn't wake up. He really didn't feel like getting into it right now. Slowly sinking lower Bon's hand reached out softly sliding over his stomach and chest pulling her body closer until she was snug into the crook of his side. His mind was swirling, lost in thought as he read the clock flip to 5:01AM, dragging himself out of bed knowing it was futile at this point.
Working out was the only way to level out his frazzled mind when him and Bon were going through it and that tension was substantially more significant than this so he knew it would be affective. But even after an hour and a half and drenched in sweat he couldn't get the idea that a Salvatore was in a prison world from over a century ago, supposedly after attacking the coven. Was any of it true? Did his father really have no clue, being the former Coven leader for longer than most? And what did he have to uncloak and dig through to find it out?
"Kai?" Bon's small, quiet voice spoke out through the silence turning to her wrapped up in a throw blanket in the bedroom's doorway. "What are you doing?"
Hopping to his feet he checked his appearance, covered in sweat in only boxers, and knew there was no way to get around her intuition. "Just getting in the morning workout, I missed yesterday."
"Did you come to bed when you got back?"
"Yeah didn't you notice you were under the covers?"
"How long did you sleep?"
"A couple hours," he lied, cringing when she looked at the clock and whipped her head back.
"That's funny because the last time I checked my phone it was 3:52AM and it is 6:12AM right now, and you look like you've been at this for a while, so…"
"Okay I laid down for a little and couldn't sleep so I came out here. I didn't want to wake you."
"Why not?"
"You just said you didn't go to bed 'til four in the morning."
"So?" Her brows drew in, sadness washing over.
"I'm sorry," left his lips without thought crossing the room to invade her space, something she'll never admit she likes that he does which he loves. "Come on, I'll take a quick shower and be in in five."
"Wait but, what happened?"
"Nothing major, it'll all work out. Come on."
"Kai," the distress and concern squeezed his heart so tight; dread – for him, them, her friends – oozing out of her.
"I'll tell you all about it in the morning, after we've slept."
"Every last detail?"
"We've got a whole hour flight," he reassured giving her a gentle nudge into the room, escaping the small confinement to the bathroom scorching his body at full blast; skin sizzling when he walked back out in a towel.
"Woah, you're so steamy."
"Thank you," he sauntered over to the bed glancing at his suitcase when a better, more entertaining idea struck and whipped off the towel in a grand gesture, on full display. His façade broke when Bon erupted with a fit of giggles.
"I guess no one can fault you on your modesty."
Her happy sounds continued as he crawled in beside her pulling her slender form flush against his, his t-shirt still the only thing she's wearing. Even on the point of fatigue, already half-dreaming through semi-closed lids, his dick stiffened at the feel of her soft skin against his. Drawing up the hem he was surprised through the fog that she hadn't protested, instead pulling her arms through discarding it for him and turned, making her way down his torso.
"What are you doing?" he barely managed to murmur, his voice husky with the need for sleep.
Fingers wrapping around his base signaled her intentions and made a gruff sound of protest, terrified he would pass out with his dick in Bonnie's mouth and was able to hoist her up and onto him with ease with half his usual strength.
"Hey."
"I want to look at you."
"Your eyes are closed," he could hear the words through a smile, abruptly realizing he wasn't looking at her and forced his lids open, "hi."
"Hi," his lazy smile spread reaching up to cup her neck pulling her lips to his, forcing himself to stay focused, "I want to feel you squeezing me as you slide down my shaft, riding me the way I was going to drive into you earlier."
His words had Bon churning against his stomach, rocking against the upside of his dick digging her nails into his chest. Using his free hand to align himself Kai's breath left him in a rush not expecting the forceful thrust backwards, both of his hands tightening feeling her stop halfway down and clench around him. Internally smacking himself for forgetting he hadn't done anything to get her ready for him he started pushing her thighs up to ease off of him but she protested digging her knees into his sides.
"No."
"I forgot, wait," he objected stilling her movements but she swatted his hands away.
"I'm listening to your last direct order, not this one," Bon tried to keep her voice steady and believable as she lifted just enough to ease back, the dead giveaway of her biting her lip at the sharp pain of being too full with nowhere to go etched across every feature. Watching her chest heave looking down with her hands on his stomach to restrain herself, the angle was forcing her down with gravity making her legs seize, shaking. "Please, just…"
"What?" her body jerked when he spoke, lids fluttering closed, "tell me what you want."
"Keep talking," her voice trembled trying to wiggle her hips pushing through the sharpness.
"Yeah? What do you want to hear?" Kai's voice dropped to a low gravel at her plea, half delirious with insomnia on top of the usual dip in his voice when he gets her alone. "How sexy you look on top of me struggling and craving to take in my hard dick, throbbing for you? How much I love the feeling of you pulsing around me and pulling me in deep and slow inch by inch. That I've never seen you more beautiful than when you let down your walls and let your true Scarlet come out? I'm never going to get enough of any of it. I'm never gonna stop."
The connection of Bon's thighs against his slamming down to the base snapped him out of whatever he was saying, instinct taking over curling his arms up her back and shoulders grinding his pelvis against hers. Whimpering into his collar Kai eased her up letting her body glide down with a slick ease, the extreme contrast in the matter of a minute making his body flush with heat. Her fingers slid over the sweat misting across his abdomen losing the battle to keep his composure and make this last. Falling into a rhythm and taking full control he was left compliant to Bon's every move, hitting a spot curled up inside her that had spots clouding his vision.
To say he was pent up; sexually, mentally, physically, was all an understatement when he thinks of the inch of the way he got inside Bonnie spread out and at his mercy pinned against a pillar earlier and didn't get to finish what he started. Gritting his teeth Kai's neck craned back forcing every thought out of his head feeling his body wanting to cum so hard it came out as a low carnal growl. The sensation went down his body to his groin feeling her leg's start to spasm at the same time, his thumb moving for her to rock into making her cry out. Jerking away from the intensity he forced her back rocking her into him with his other hand on her hip and hers found his way into his hair, tugging painfully.
"Make this the best birthday of my life," he commanded with the same authority he had talking to the coven but laced in a harsh, desperate rasp like it was the only thing that mattered, "cum for me."
It did the trick, unraveling the instant it was said screaming a hoarse, salacious sound that forced his undoing following right with her. Using the last ounce of energy he could muster Kai grabbed her hands pulling them behind her back and squeezing, his magic willingly flowing through her. Erratic pants left him watching her rise and fall rapidly against him blowing out a overdrawn noise resituating them and pulling her in to a tight embrace.
"Happy birthday," the sweet softness wrapped around his heart keeping it safe.
"Bon-Bon you're going to put me in cardiac arrest. You're so beautiful, my heart can't take it."
Laughter vibrated against his torso. "You're exhausted."
"You say that or that I'm drunk every time I tell you you're gorgeous, sexy, the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. I'm not an alcoholic, or narcoleptic. Face the facts, Jack. You're smoking."
Slapping lightly against his arm in protest she nuzzled in closer feeling her hum inside his chest, falling into comfortably silence rapidly slipping away.
"I'm sorry I got you in trouble with the coven."
"You didn't, Bonnie. You haven't done anything wrong. Stop taking the blame for other people's actions." He felt the abrupt shift struggling to pull his eyes open to her pinched expression. "Too forward? Sorry, 'I'm exhausted,' I don't know what I'm saying."
Knowing she wanted to press farther she must have caught up on the losing battle had with his eyelids, not even knowing when she rolled off of him or when slumber finally took over.
xxx
The last time Kai felt this kind of pounding in his head he had just gone through three attempted break ups curtesy of Bonnie and hadn't slept for about a week. Before that he had undergone a 48 hour full body metamorphosis, feeling like his brain was literally splitting in two. And the time before that his dad was trying to get in his head in the prison world pulling it into present day when he successfully made it. Gemini's didn't get sick and it took a lot for us to show symptoms of what Kai would describe as the full on workings of a migraine so to say the least, he was worried. He couldn't keep his eyes open for the life of him sitting on a stool at the small island, the beaming rays streaming through the full wall of windows desperate to blind him.
Lifting his head to take a big gulp of his second cup of coffee he stared back down to his bouncing leg avoiding the sun replaying through the impromptu midnight meeting. Dani had some nerve challenging him the way she did, in front of everyone, after he had already given her a warning not even a half an hour before. He was going to have to handle that, and had a feeling his old buddy was not going to like it. Then there was the small, potentially life-changing information of a tall tale of a long lost Salvatore being locked away in one of the Gemini's dungeons. That was weighing heavily on him, specifically wrapped around his head like he was wearing a baseball hat three sizes too small.
Hearing his cell phone vibrating against the counter, Ash's picture popped up for a FaceTime, brows drawing since it was barely 9AM. "Hey."
"Oh, hi… I really thought I'd be getting your voicemail. Are you alone?"
"Yes?" his voice was gruff, this being the first time he's spoken all morning and looked around him exaggeratingly as she could clearly see he was through the screen.
"Come to my room," she demanded making the corner of his lip curve, "don't even, with that. You know what I mean."
"You mean come to your room," the other side of his mouth lifted in a real smile, a low chuckle watching her squirm to come up with what to say.
"Yes, and put on a shirt first what is with men not wearing clothes?"
Kai scanned the phone down his bare torso to his sweatpants, knees bent on the stool hearing a squeal of horror before a guffaw of laughter.
"I am wearing clothes."
"Oh my Lanta I thought – you almost just scarred me for life," her chuckling continued rubbing one of her eyes, "and break my phone fighting the instinct to LAUNCH it across the room. Okay, come over quick."
"Ooh, now she needs me to come to her room fast," he teased hopping off the stool grabbing a zip-up.
"I think I hate you."
He shrugged, zipping it and pulling up the hood. "Are you on this floor too?"
"In your Royal birthday Suite? No, I'm a peasant on the eighth floor, room 832."
"Is there a reason why you can't just tell me like this?" the question came out graveled keeping his voice low as he moved around trying not to wake Bon looking for his shoes.
"Yes." Ash's voice matter-of-fact, rolling his eyes.
"Such a brat."
"Yeah well, the sooner you get here then the faster you'll know."
"Fine, be there in a minute."
Ending the call Kai found a complimentary notepad and pen scribbling out that he didn't want to wake her and would be right back just in case she woke up, went searching for him before he got back and started assuming the worst scenarios imaginable. Understandably so. Sliding the phone and keycard into his pocket he took the elevator to the eighth floor finding her room only slightly getting turned around once or twice and knocked on the door.
"Finally, what'd you do get lost?" Ash said as a hello, smiling at the fuzzy panda pants that matched the cartoon on the tank top.
"Maybe," he admitted gesturing for her to enter first and followed behind sitting on the couch beside her, resting his arm over the top. "So what's up?"
"I want to help you," she rushed out like she had been holding her breath, staring at him with big, hopeful eyes.
"With what?"
"This whole 1903 prison world thing that no one seems to know anything about, but Elder Walsh does. So other Elder's must have too and maybe we can find them in the Gemini Archives. I'm still close with a lot of the members I think I can get my hands on the rest of the bloodline's Grimoire's."
"Why?"
"Because if we're going to find out anything –"
"No… why, Ash?"
Kai didn't need to go into detail for her to catch on, giving him a pointed stare. "Because I saw how much it freaked you out last night."
"I wouldn't say –"
"That all of the color drained from your face the moment I said the words 'another prison world', because I can assure you it did. And then you interrogated an old man in front of the entire coven so yeah Kai, I would say. And I can't blame you… after everything you went through, I can't even imagine everything you must be thinking and feeling. Then to find out it could be a bloodline of someone you know who seems to be pretty intertwined within Bonnie and her friend's, I would want to know if any of it is true too."
"Where do you suggest we begin?" Kai asked amused and touched seeing how much his friend was invested for his benefit, becoming even more animated.
"Okay so here's the thing, my flight at JFK is at 12:45 and the Archives along with most of the Grimoire's are back home, so… I bought you a ticket."
"To Portland?" His eyebrows shot up his forehead, "without even checking with me?"
"Well I was in a bit of a time crunch since I had to make sure another seat in First Class was available because my flight is in less than three hours," she reiterated checking the time for emphasis, already teetering on 10AM. "And I didn't know if you would be up long enough for us to talk beforehand and convince you to come with me. So, that's what this is."
"Your attempt to persuade me to hop on a flight and go home with you?" he questioned back, making sure Kai was hearing her right and got a hard smack against his stomach. "Ow, I was being serious."
"Oh… then yes? I mean where else would you stay, you have your own room. It can be our Headquarters, not like anyone is going to bug us it's just me there," Ash kept rambling through her monologue but that one line stuck out to him, really reading her face as she went on. "I know you can't be there too long, your true love waiting in her castle for her Prince to come back to her, so we can get started as soon as we land."
Kai would be lying if he said the offer was almost too tempting to pass up, his own obsessive fixation on the topic enough to draw him in. But it was the way that even after so many years apart and hearing what a monster he was from everyone, Ash still stuck by him, wanting to help.
"Okay."
"Really?!" she screeched lurching forward into him letting out a grunt at the unexpected contact, lifting his arm from the couch to wrap around her reciprocating the hug. "Like when we were kids! Agents Parker and Stone; Partners in Crime."
"Dork," Kai snorted, cracking up when a flood of long forgotten memories unlocked of the shenanigans the dangerous duo got into together as she leaned back grinning.
"Okay well you need to go pack and get in a quickie and then at 11 we dock and we are out of here."
"Shit," he mumbled raking a hand through his hair checking his phone, 10:08AM.
"I know, I know. Now go."
Knowing there was sense in arguing or wasting time he double timed it back to the room jogging through the halls and slid the keycard in finding Bonnie sitting in the same seat he was in, her own coffee in hand.
"Hey," she said warily, looking over his appearance as he did the same and smiled at the shirt he was wearing to the meeting was all she was in. "Morning."
"Good morning," Kai breathed, forcing his breathing to regulate to make her feel a little less on edge and crossed the kitchen spinning her on the stool caging her legs between him. His palms cupped the sides of her neck moving her face where he wanted to plant a deep kiss. "Mm, you taste good."
"Not your average 'Folger's'," she lifted her cup off to the side. "So, where did you run off to so early?"
"Ash called and asked if I could stop by – which now that I'm saying it, I still don't know why she couldn't have just told me all of this on the phone. Anyways it all revolves around something I learned last night which could potentially be a long conversation that I don't entirely have time to explain... because I won't be going back home with you."
"What? Why not?"
"I have to go to Portland."
"What the hell happened last night?" the sleepiness in her voice was already fading replaced with acute apprehension, putting the cup down to get two fistfuls of his sweatshirt down near the pockets. "Tell me."
"There might be another prison world from 1903 cloaked and hidden away somewhere, imprisoning a Salvatore vampire after they attacked the coven," he went with the ripping off the Band-Aid approach, needing to bullet point it to tell her faster. "An Elder in the Walsh bloodline is the only one that has any knowledge on this, I questioned my father if he knew in front of everyone too but he denied it. So Ash offered to help go through the Gemini Archives and Grimoire's and see if he was just blowing smoke trying to terrify the coven from all vampires."
"Or he's not," Bonnie finished off and he nodded once.
"I'll be gone for a couple of days, tops, and half of that will be the obnoxious flights back and forth. You won't even know I'm gone."
"But what if it is true?" she pressed not letting him go when he went to take a step back. "Who could it have been in their bloodline? I can as-"
"No," fumbled out before he got articulate something kinder, "I mean not yet, not until I find out of this even is something."
"But they were turned in 1864, I can help–"
Kai pulled her lips to his, pulling her up off the stool to her tiptoes betting she could feel his heart hammering through his chest as she suctioned herself to him. It was a surreal feeling, going for so long – decades – being alone and closed off from the world with no one on his side, only able to trust and rely on himself. Now he was a day into being twenty-three, a feat he thought he would never seem, Josette was still alive, and two of the most important women in his life are openly and more than willing to go to bat on his behalf. Oh, and he was disgustingly, scared shitless, out of his mind in love, which was without a doubt the most shell-shocking of them all. Scooping her by the thighs Bonnie let out a breath when she landed the counter, hands gliding up her waist and ribcage bringing the shirt with it.
"I can't wait days to be inside you again," his lips ran across her neck pulling the shirt off and groaned seeing she was naked underneath. "Yeah, I need you right now."
Tugging at his waistband Bon only had enough time to run the zipper down to undo it exposing his chest, leaving his sleeves still on and hood up before he grabbed her ass and drove forward screaming out as her body shuddered around him. Harsh pants blew the stray hairs out of her face as he strained to not move giving her time to adjust but her legs hooked around the back of his thighs sinking down to the base. Lulling her forehead to his Kai stared into a reflection of everything he was feeling; a raw, carnal, insatiable hunger for the person staring back at them. He wanted to mark her, leave little reminders inside and out of him so Bonnie would have no choice but to think of him. He was crazy about her, well past the point of obsessed bordering on creepy, and she was staring at him the same way. Like she wanted the same thing.
The beast he tries to keep buried sent a deep growl from his stomach up his chest to his bared teeth and surged forward taking the impact of the edge of the island moving his forearm around her waist. Bonnie's gratifying sigh had him cursing against her shoulder, running his other hand to her breast kneading, pinching, squeezing; stiffening harder at every sharp gasp and moan. Bending his knees Kai would have thrusted her halfway across the marble countertop if she wasn't pinned to him, if her hard jerk forward was any indication.
One of the things that fascinated him the most about Bon was the sweet and innocent little witch everyone loves can be so not sweet or innocent when he got her alone. She had fire, passion, dark salacious fantasies of her own that he was all too willing to fulfil. She could be a temptress, bringing him to his knees with a single look before she had even fully embraced it. Bonnie was also willing to trust him enough to be vulnerable and compliant to his will and submit, like trying to tame a wild Tiger. Even more so, Kai knew he could be aggressive, falling too deeply into it needing to claim what's his and will maneuver, tie up, and grip her in any way to get that point across. And that just seemed to get her off more. She was perfect. And she was his.
Dropping Bon to her feet in a spin his stomach pushed against her back forcing her to bend over kicking his feet between hers to spread them farther and her back arched, her ass pressing out searching for him. Smirking Kai traced a soft touch up her spine aligning himself against her with the other, grabbing a fistful of hair and tugging against her scalp the same time he thrust into her. The sound was strangled from the angle and this time gave her no warning or time to adjust propelling into her at a hard, deliberate pace. Dragging her up into him he pulled her head to the side dropping his to bite and suck at the crook of her exposed neck, her legs starting to give out.
Sliding his hand to Bonnie's throat he gently squeezed during a thrust into her and clenched so tight around him it felt like a fist. His vision was starting to cloud over, his ears ringing from restraining himself not stopping until he chased her orgasm out of her. Grinding into him Kai knew she wanted more and thought he was going to explode on the spot. Eyes squeezed shut and through heavy pants he got a better hold and slid his other across every curve until it circled her clit. Bucking violently against him his hand tightened and hers went everywhere; clawing at the counter, yanking his hood off to rip at his hair, to his wrist trying to free herself, but none of it made a difference.
Kai didn't stop or slow his pace, just loosening and re-gripping feeling her entire body respond every time. He was going to cum, he wasn't going to last. Driving forward Bonnie's thighs slammed off the counter and forcing her back down his shaft twice as hard and screamed, doing it again watching her orgasm literally knock her off her feet. Holding her weight up against him wrapped around her stomach he felt her spasming from head to toe, pulsating around him so tight he thought he might lose circulation and followed immediately after. Bonnie's body felt like Jell-O in his hands, completely languid, and was heaving against him.
"Are you okay?" His voice always sounded like he had been in a coma for a week after he came, groggy and rough.
"Very," her head did a lazy nod on his chest and eased out of her turning to look her over.
Flushed, lips parted and potentially bruised, wild hair, with an even more untamed expression; yup, seems about right. Fixing the fistful of hair he was entangled in Kai pecked small kisses up one of her arms, shoulder, neck, and face, loving the giggle when he reached her nose. Nuzzling against her face his arms enveloped her squeezing with enough force to disarm a strong man, lifting her off the ground and wrapping her legs around his waist.
"I have a gut feeling Ash is going to ruin this in the worst way so I'm taking you with me to get my stuff."
"What time is it?"
"I really don't want to know," he said with honesty, groaning when he saw 10:56AM on the clock on the side table.
A wave or two of a hand later and all of their things were packed and accounted for and just finished getting dressed hearing the knocking at exactly 11AM.
"Kai let's go! You weren't in the lobby!"
"This woman," he shook his head gathering all of their things letting Bon lead the way and open the door. "The ship docks at eleven, Ash. Relax."
"But we have to go right to the airport-"
"Which is going to be the longest flight ever," he drawled following the two downstairs.
In the lobby they met up with the Gemini's – minus Cody, Salvatore's, Bon's friend's, Josette and her fiancé. It goes without saying that anything dicussed amongst Gemini's does not leave the circle so Kai didn't have to worry about them blabbing about anything. This was the moment, he knew it, and weirdly he couldn't move.
"What's the matter?" Bonnie's timid gaze searched his and he reached up to rub his thumb against her cheek.
"I don't want to go," she returned a small smile putting her hand over his.
"It'll only be a couple days, tops," he let out a breath through his nose as a laugh hearing his words thrown back at him. "Now go, before Ashley kills you."
"She'd only be hurting herself," he grinned wide leaning in for a long, overdrawn kiss.
"Hi, what's happening?" Caroline's fake, forced smile was in place when they parted. "Because that looked awfully like a goodbye kiss."
"I'm not heading home with you guys," he spoke loud enough for them all to hear, "I'm going with Ash back to Portland. I'll be back soon."
"Why?" her friend pressed, scanning the group to the Salvatore's and his sister and Ric equally as confused, but his coven looked like they were going to be sick.
"Gemini matters," his statement was matter of fact, not giving any more details and no one pressed him on it. His attention went back to Bonnie beside him. "Call me when you land."
Parting ways the rest of the day was a blur, mainly because he knocked out through the majority of the flight and now it was almost 8 o'clock at night. Leaving the airport and making their way back to Ash's was the same half-delusional experience but they successfully made it, managing to check in again with Bonnie and let her know he landed and would call in the morning, sprawling out on her couch.
"You look terrible," his brutally honest companion stated, cracking a lid open to see her sitting on a chair tearing open a sleeve of crackers. Humming with the effort to get off the couch he forced his feet through the familiar territory not even needing to keep his eyes open to locate the kitchen. "Hungry?"
"You are," he corrected opening the fridge taking in the mediocre array of ingredients. "You need to go shopping."
"Thanks, mom."
"What do you want me to make?"
"Did you miss the part where I asked? Or did you just dreamt I did?"
Ignoring her quips he took stock of what was in the freezer and cabinets and stared back at her, still awaiting her answer. "Are you really going to pass up my cooking? It's been over twenty years, after all, maybe you've just forgotten."
"No, I remember," her voice is longing, lost in a memory, "your tofu scramble."
"Really?" Kai's nose scrunched up not expecting that one. "Of all the Vegetarian crap I made you, that's the one?"
"I mean I can name off a dozen more but my stomach is already growling and might pass out by the end of the list and that takes ten minutes."
"Condensed soy milk with miscellaneous spices and tomatoes, it is," he shrugged shuffling through the spice rack and fridge pouring them on the island that both had the stove and another section to sit and eat at. "Wow you do have tofu in here."
"Why wouldn't I? You really don't have to though."
"It's alright," he yawned, entirely unconvincing and shook the residual sleep off.
Heating up the oil in the pan and adding in the sliced onion over medium heat, Kai multitasking mashing the tofu in a bowl leaving it half chunky the way Ash likes and set it off to the side. Adding garlic, turmeric, cumin, and paprika to the pan with another stir, gave it another minute, and tossed in the tofu. In half a daze and muscle memory he hadn't noticed they hadn't spoken since he started and looked up to her staring at him across the counter, half spinning on the stool. He rose in brows in question.
"I kind of missed this," she shrugged twirling around completely, "you waiting on me at any hour of the night."
"Yup, how did I live without that," he said sardonically, tossing in the halved cherry tomatoes.
Pushing down the double toaster with four pieces of rye bread he waited another few then just needed to fold through the chopped parsley and was ready to be served. Spreading butter on the bread he scooped a heaping onto two slices on a plate and stretched across putting it in front of her.
"What, no drink?"
"Oh," he started back towards the fridge and she sniggered hopping off the stool to stop him.
"I was kidding. Make a plate and sit down. What do you want to drink?"
"Whatever you're having."
Backtracking he made the same plate taking bite out of half of a piece of bread before he sat down.
"Can I ask you something?" A question he enjoyed so much, nodding as she put a bottle of sparkling flavored water in front of him. "Are you in love with Bonnie?"
Smiling through his chewing, he nodded again. "Mhm."
Kai wasn't sure his friends smile could take up any more room on her face leaning over to give him a sideways hug. "I'm so happy for you! I really never thought I would see the day."
"You didn't?" he cracked up eating the other half in another bite, nodding again when she asked if he's told her.
"Has she told you?" His head hung low between his arms resting on the counter. "Awh, babe. Well if it means anything I saw the way Bonnie was with you and how she was looking at you. It's love."
"Well apparently everyone can see it but her," he stared at the plate feeling the spikes of annoyance that always arise when his mind lingers on this topic, "but I know she does. She's just stubborn."
"So you have to convince a girl that she is in love with you?" Ash voice was light and humerous, the second piece of toast pausing halfway to his mouth, turning to stare at her deadpanned. "Oh, the irony."
"I could have gone the rest of my life without that making that connection," he shook his head putting down the toast to twist the cap off the drink taking a long sip and teetered the stool back to balance on the back legs. "Well this is fun. So where's your boyfriend? Why aren't you married? Or did you give them all rousing conversations like this and they cut and ran?"
"Probably," he didn't anticipate the laughter, already tensed up for a hotheaded reaction, "I've had boyfriends, some were my forever, and most were not. One was almost my husband but, he died."
The tofu concoction halfway down his throat came sputtering back up in a cough lurching forward to the plate with a hard thud so he didn't spew it everywhere. His eyes burned and couldn't catch his breath but still managed to get out a, "What? When?"
"Two years ago, it was an accident. A stupid… normal, accident," her voice was flat twisting an awful intense pain throughout his torso staring at her profile as she stared straight ahead. "I wanted snacks but it was raining and I was lazy, so he went for me. I heard the crash at the light down the street."
Kai had gotten off the stool invading her space, not realizing until she jumped startled by him right there staring up wide –eyed. He dipped down scooping her up and wrapping his arms around her forearms pulling her in tight. Her arms were crushed between them but she didn't make an effort to move, just standing there.
"Hug me back," he protested with a little shake, "you're making it awkward."
"I'm fine, Kai," she mumbled in his chest, even while curling her arms around his ribs and up his back and readjusting her face burrowing in deeper. He was so used to Bon's petite curvy 5'2 frame that Ash's 5'7 slender build took him a second to remember. "You're really big now."
Even without saying anything he couldn't stop his body from shaking with amusement squeezing tighter when she made a sound of disgust and tried to disentangle herself. "All you have to do is have a magical Merge Ceremony with the wrong twin but the same technical age and bloodline and your body will blow up too."
"I still can't believe you did that."
"Thanks to you. If it weren't for you I would have died and killed Josette with me when I went to merge with her."
"That was AnnaLynne," she puffed moving her face out of his shirt to the crook of his neck.
"She wouldn't know if you hadn't listened in and told her. You saved the both of us and I don't think I've had the chance to properly thank you," he eased her back just enough to scan her face, her eyes and cheeks red being the warning sign she was flushed and trying not to cry. Lifting his lips to what Ash used to describe as 'her favorite smile; so gentle and warm and you never let anyone see it' he felt her frame inflate on a heavy inhale. "Thank you for saving my life, Ash, again."
It went without saying he was referring to how she and Dean found him the day of his mom's Wake and she shook her head shook slightly, knowing she was holding her breath. He could see he was pushing her to the edge of a breaking point, his own chest aching for what his best friend has had to survive without him, and was a little more than uneasy at what little it took to rattle her.
"Don't mention it," the brush off was shaky dropping her gaze down and he sighed, whispering.
"I'm sorry, Ashley."
The thud against Kai's shoulder was the only indication her legs were about to give out and he leaned back against the counter for leverage, falling apart in his arms. It was something she had done a hundred times before, a handful being since he's been back, but this was different. Two years of held in and buried emotions focusing on things like her sister, the house, the coven, him, all to build up a dam to the flood that he just kicked through.
Finding the back of her head he scratched his fingers through her hair soothingly as she sobbed into his neck, kicking himself for having Anna move out and not forcing her to come with her. Ash was a freakishly strong girl, mentally and physically, so when she broke down it was twice as hard to watch, and now he had to do it with everything empathic feeling suffocating him. Kai wasn't sure how long he stood there holding on as she deflated to a drained, fragile, whimpering mess in his arms, it made no difference to him, but Ash became acutely aware of it in an instant and jerked her head back.
"Shit, Kai… oh I'm so sorry," she made a sound of revulsion covering her face with both hands dropping her head back his shoulder, "ugh that's so embarrassing."
"Stop you know you don't have to act like that with me," he reassured and her shaky legs gained a little more strength leaning off of him to stand and face him, wrapping an arm around her waist when she wobbled.
"Thank you."
"I don't need that either," his small smile brought the same one out of her, "do you want to watch a movie in your at-home theater?"
"But what about all of the research?"
"Oh I'm not doing any of that tonight, that needs a fresh new day and person to crack into that. Come on, I saw a giant bag of popcorn and family size of M&M's it's like you were anticipating my arrival."
Giving him a genuine smile Ash conceded leading the way through the house that is obnoxiously massive for one person and found their way to the basement opening up to his favorite room in the house. What he did not anticipate was the extreme upgrade it went through from the 90's to modern day. Like the kitchen everything had been simplified, a white trim molding along the edges and gray walls with a flat screen TV that was mounted to and took up half the wall. The basic couch was now a giant white leater L shape made up of six matching recliners and a double-wide piece in the wraparound. Scattered along the sides were three recliner's twice the size of any normal one he's seen, along with an ottoman and a few circle tables.
"Not what you remember?"
"You know sometimes I really miss the 90's, other times…" he took it all in in awe and motioned for her to pick a spot for them, plopping down on the side of the couch directly in front of the TV and squeezed into the end seat. "What do you want to watch?"
"I don't know? You're the one that suggested it."
"Yeah but I'm at a severe disadvantage here I won't know half of the options," he reasoned and she cracked up.
"Oh yeah. Okay, what genre?"
"Scary," her eyes rolled to the back of her head at his cheeky grin.
"Why did I even ask? You know you've actually traumatized me for life and I have irrational phobias of serial killers in masks and crazy slasher scenarios. Like you did that to me."
"That's awesome," he snickered, amplifying at her shocked expression, "it's alright I'm back, you're safe. Even though you're a witch and they're fictional characters, but I guess you can pick the genre then."
"Romantic comedy it is!"
Groaning at what he knew was going to be her choice she used a remote to dim the lights to prime theater level and put on something because he recognized the name Matthew McConaughey from Dazed and Confused. Hopping up to get them an oversized blanket and turn up the AC Ash threw it over them leaning back and curling into herself, looking her over with brows drawn.
"What'cha doin'?" Her eyes found his and he pivoted into the crook of the other side, lifting his arms.
"Well I mean I don't know if that's really appropriate with –"
"How bad you want me," he nodded like that was obviously what she was going to say next, "and you better not make any moves because you are still really hot."
"Okay see that, right there, that's what I mean," her voice shot up an octave and Kai beamed seeing sparks of his friend in there breaking out of the despair.
Reaching down to pull the button to lift bottom up he felt another button and clicked them both watching Ash's go up too, the momentum and angle she was in sending her sideways into him.
"Hi, there."
Giving up she chuckled and readjusted into his right side curling her legs up resting her knees on his thighs and head on his shoulder. As he suspected it took all of twenty minutes for a love story to stir up the emotions all over again feeling her fidget anxiously against him. Snagging the remote out of her hand Kai hit the back button enough times to reach the main page, locating the search bar.
"Hey."
"Let me guess they have a big dramatic climax halfway through and end up together in the end? Predictable, I need something a little more stimulating."
"Like blood and guts?" her nose turned up at him, looking back to the screen pulling the blanket halfway up her face. "Freak."
"What's Sinister?"
"No… please," the trepidation bloomed in her face trying to move away from him, "I won't. I'll go upstairs."
"And leave me to watch it by myself?"
"You bet your ass and you can have nightmares all night long. Have fun."
"Okay fine," he concurred, tucking this movie away in the back of his mind to watch with Bon. "What about 'House at the End of the Street?'"
"Ooh! That actually looked good with actors I like. Okay, I guess we can," nestling back into him they stayed in silence through the first scene before she said softly, "I'm sorry, too."
"Hm?" her eyes lifted to his, sorrow and anguish staring back at him.
"For everything you went through. For what happened to you on that boat. For what happened after… for how we've all seen you for all these years."
"It's okay, Ash," he reassured knowing she meant the way her views on him changed, half through being brainwashed through his father and half-truth stories but half of it was justified. He did what he did. "You're a good person, I would never fault for you for that."
"I love you, you know," his heart warmed and head tilted, smile soft.
"I love you, too."
Getting misty eyed she dropped her head to curl back into him and focus on the movie. It felt different being this close to Ash as it did with Bonnie. It felt like this with everyone aside her; AnnaLynne, Bon's friend's, people at school, he could acknowledge the noticeable attraction that other girl's had but there was no feeling behind it, no drive. The girl that he left back in Virginia that he was inside of less than twelve hours ago made him insane with a predatory possessiveness that he still can't get a handle on. Lost in thought and only knowing half the storyline Kai once again was about a half an hour in when he started to fade out and the last thing he remembered was Bon's face.
