After dining out, Sly and Carmelita decided to take a walk back home, but the raccoon insisted on stopping somewhere before going back to the fox's apartment. He took a detour, and the two ended up in a neighborhood near the city center.
"What did you say was this place, Ringtail?" asked Carmelita while standing in front of an apartment building.
"You'll see it in a moment." The now ex-thief smiled and walked inside.
They took the elevator to the third floor. Then, Sly took out a set of keys and opened one of the doors in the hall. "Voila!" He flipped the light switch and let the vixen in.
Carmelita, somewhat confused, looked around before turning to the raccoon. "You bought an apartment?"
Sly chuckled. "No, love. This is my parent's apartment. It's where I grew up… before the orphanage, of course." He flashed a warm smile as the fox looked at the many pictures of him and his family. "Years ago, I used to come here often, but after all that happened… Well, you know… So, a few days ago, I came here and cleaned the place from top to bottom."
"And, what do you want to do with it?"
"Well, we don't have to move in here if you don't want to. I mean, your place-"
"Our place." The vixen smiled and held both of his hands.
"Our place… is great, and I would completely understand if you wanted to stay there." He mimicked her smile and affectionately nuzzled her snout.
"Why did you bring me here then?"
"Oh, I just needed to get something. Stay here. I'll be right back." Sly walked into the main bedroom and walked out a few minutes later as he put something in his pocket. "Okay, we can leave now."
"Aren't you gonna show me what you got?" She raised one of her eyebrows.
"Nah, let's just go back home." The raccoon headed for the door, but the vixen stopped him.
"Cooper, I am not leaving this apartment until you show me the reason you brought me here." She crossed her arms.
Sly sighed and gave up. "Alright, alright… Stubborn fox." He smiled and kissed her on the cheek before handing her what was in his pocket.
The vixen's blood ran cold once she realized Sly had just given her what appeared to be a ring box. "Is this…" She looked up at the raccoon, who was smiling back at her, full of fondness.
"Open it." He placed his hands on her hips and held her close.
The vixen's heart skipped a beat after the box's content was revealed to indeed be an engagement ring. Her lips drew a nervous smile full of emotion as tears began to flow from her eyes.
"Carmelita Montoya Fox, will you-" Sly didn't even get to finish his proposal.
"Yes!" The fox held the raccoon's face and kissed it all over. "Of course I'll marry you." She kissed his lips once more before letting Sly put the ring on her finger.
