Alright, this is the 14th chapter of the crossover story. I don't own the series of Queen's Blade or the videogame of Castlevania.
'Alucard, Sumi, Taka, Alleyne, and Nowa travels to Danseti, where they make a dramatic entrance in the nick of time. Also, the scholar Saint Germain reflects on his own twisted path.'
You Must Sacrifice
Romania, Targoviste
At the ruins of Targoviste, the Belmont brothers, Leina, and Sypha walked around the city after walking away from Zamfir and refuse to help her because they don't trust her, but she and her guards were able to help them fight against the night creatures at the abandoned barn. Soon as they were able to find a place to rest while think of a way to get into the underground, Sypha spoke.
"Whoever lived here left in a hurry." Sypha states, looking around the building.
"Or killed by those night creatures." Leina guessed.
"A little light." Trevor suggests, turning to them.
Sypha then motions her fingers, conjures fireballs to light up the room while Trevor sits on the bed and takes off his boots. Bowen places the chair and sit on it, taking the boots off of his feet.
"Speaking of leaving in a hurry, you really want to get away from Zamfir?" Sypha asks, walking next to him with her hand places on her hip when Trevor tosses the boot with a grunt.
"Sit down." Trevor suggests as Sypha sits next to him.
"Comfy bed? Is this why you wanted us to be alone?" Sypha inquires with a smile, leaving Trevor grunted.
"More like, we're trying to get away from everyone else for five fucking minutes." Bowen told her, earned their attention. "All we've been doing for weeks is reacting, being bounced from one thing to the next, and we do best when we've got time to think and talk things over."
Trevor, Sypha, and Leina knew that Bowen is making valid point since they've been out hunting the night creatures for weeks, and try to find out why would they want to bring Dracula back. However, some of the zealots tried to kill the people for the tributes to Death.
"I'm glad you think so." Sypha said with a smile, nods.
"We're not completely stupid." Trevor states with a smirk.
"I'm glad you think so." Sypha agrees, turns to him.
"Very funny." Trevor remarked with a chuckle, but turns to serious when he placed his hand on hers. "Listen, we need to stop reacting and start acting."
"How are we going to do that?" Leina inquires.
"Well, we're going to find out more about this place for starters." Trevor told her. "And if I'm gonna get killed, I'd rather choose it than get tricked into it by someone else."
Bowen and Leina agreed to Trevor since they feel the same, but Sypha knew that he's making his choice.
"Alright." Sypha replied. "Where would you like to start?"
"The beginning, before we find ourselves back into the end." Trevor answered.
Romania, Danesti
Later that night, Alucard, Alleyne, Nowa, Taka, and Sumi were making their way towards Danesti with their new weapons and armor. Taka is still carrying his bow and arrows, but he's now carrying a sword. He now wears a leather armor with a chainmail underneath, vambraces, new pants, belt, and boots. Sumi is also carrying her new sword on her waist, and some throwing daggers. She also wears the same armor as Taka. Nowa and Alleyne kept their armor and their weapons. Alucard now carries the shield while keeping his armor and his sword.
In the village of Danesti, the people readied themselves at the wooden gates. The night creatures are trying to breach the village, having the brute night creature break the wooden gates.
Just when the night creatures broke through the gates and about to kill the villagers, the arrow shot one of the night creatures in the head. Alucard, Alleyne, Nowa, Taka, and Sumi readied their weapons as they charge after the night creatures. Alucard leaps in midair while Sumi throws her throwing knife at the brute night creature, killing it. Alucard lands on the other brute night creatures, grabs it in the neck, and snap it into two. Alleyne and Nowa are working together to fight off against the third brute creature, dodging its attack and counter when the Fighting Master bashed it in the head and pierced its side with her staff. Nowa finishes it off by thrusting her staff in the head, leaving it dead.
The two brute night creatures were enraged and both Sumi and Taka readied their blades. Two of the brute night creatures unleashed their claws and charges after the two Japanese warriors. Taka and Sumi were able to dodge their attacks, leaping back and parried. Taka then charged after one of the brute night creatures as he dodges and sliced its leg, causing it to scream in pain. The brute night creature tried to swing its claw, but Taka leaped in midair and counter by slicing its head off. Sumi then dodges the claw and saw an opening, slashing its side and sliced its arm off. Sumi quickly get behind and slicing its head off, killing the final night creature.
Soon as the fight is over, Alucard, Alleyne, Nowa, Sumi, and Taka went inside of the village when the headwoman of Danesti approaches them.
"You sent us a letter?" Alucard questions.
"Yes." She answered. "Welcome to Danesti."
"I presume it's seen better days?" Alucard inquires when the villagers lowered their weapons.
"Quieter ones." She told him. "I'm Greta, the village headwoman."
"I'm Alleyne, the forest elf." Alleyne introduces herself, motions her hand to Nowa. "This is Nowa, she's my student."
Nowa waves her hand with a smile. Greta smiles, but turns to the two Japanese warriors with serious expression.
"I'm Taka." Taka introduces himself.
"And I'm Sumi." Sumi adds. "As you know, we're from Japan."
"And why were you here?" Greta questions.
"To ask Alucard for help, teach us how to fight against the supernatural." Taka explains. "We've been in training for a month and a half. However, it's been on hold ever since the night creatures tried to take the castle."
"And we've been defending it, until this turn of event." Sumi adds.
Greta nods with an understanding, turns to Alucard.
"Call me Alucard. No 'The'." Alucard said as Greta turns to one of the villagers.
"Did Marius?" Greta asks.
"Was that your rider?" Alucard asks, earned a nod from her. "I'm afraid not. He was attacked en route and bled out from his wounds. His horse carried him the rest of the way with your message in his hand."
It got Greta shocked and devastated of hearing Marius' fate.
"Oh." Greta said.
"I'm sorry." Alucard apologizes with sincere.
"Well, he's not the only one we've lost." Greta told him. "But he was the last of his family, which is why he risked the journey. Still...I'd hoped...That's what hoping gets you I suppose. I have a lot more people to save."
She then turns to the villagers.
"Get some rest, everybody, while you can." Greta ordered as the villagers returned home to get some rest.
"How long have you been under attack?" Sumi questions.
"Four days." Greta answered, crossed her arms. "First, it was just one of those bastards, more every night. We barely made it through last night. We're lucky only a third of us are dead. Will you help us?"
"I'm sure we can do something for you." Alucard answered.
"I'm not interested in magic tricks in one fight, these people are under my care." Greta points out. "Will you stay and defend them as long as it takes?"
"I said-"
"You have to understand, I don't know any of you." Greta interrupts. "You've been 20-odd miles away for months, you creep around the forest and training, you've got bodies burnt outside of your weird castle, you're obviously half-vampire, these two are elves, the other two were foreigners, and you've got them involved. And you appear me to be at least half-crazy, but you and your allies are the only possible advantage I can think of. I don't need to be impressed by low-key swagger. I need you to commit to saving these people, because my life isn't worth living if I can't save theirs."
"All done?" Alucard inquires, raised his eyebrow.
"Did it work?" Greta asks.
"Yes." Alucard answered.
"We'll help you." Alleyne adds. "And it's convincing enough for us to stay and defend against those night creatures."
"Then I'm all done. Thank you." Greta thanked them with a smile. "And that's one hell of an entrance."
"Yes indeed." The voice of Saint Germain said with a chuckle, opens the door from the latrine. "So, you are really impressive young individuals. Sickening violence isn't especially in my skillset, you'll understand, but I can recognize a fellow expert, no matter what the field."
Then, Saint Germain walked out of the latrine and approaches them. His attire remains the same, but without the hat and the green jacket.
"Oh God, this one." Greta scoffs with annoyance.
"And who are you supposed to be?" Taka questions.
"There's no need to be rude." Saint Germain assures. "You and your allies would be Adrian Tepes, Alleyne the Fighting Master, Nowa the Forest Keeper, Taka, and Sumi?"
"Yes?" Alucard answered.
"Since you know us, we don't even know you." Nowa points out. "So, who are you?"
"Since you ask, do allow me to present myself, I am the Count Germain, scholar and residence to many of the great courts of Europe." Saint Germain introduces himself, bowing to them.
"Why are you cowering in a latrine hut in Wallachia?" Alucard asks with suspicions.
"Oh...Is this a latrine? I just-I just thought someone had gotten very scared." Saint Germain answered with a nervous chuckle, lied. "I'm traveling, you see. Interesting times in Wallachia. I felt that a man of letters should bear witness."
"And are you enjoying tourism so far?" Alucard questions, again suspicious.
"Um...It has been...enlightening." Saint Germain answered.
And with that, Saing Germain recalled the time he spent his past decades as a scholar during his travels around in Europe. Saint Germain left the room to meet up with the royal court which it got him disgusted of the people disrespecting the building, but what stopped him is when he saw a woman about to head out. He was awed of her beauty for a second, but scowled when the man was stalking her and about to do something stupid, like groping her.
'Do not grope for a person like that, you rude little clump of frog shit!'
And just that, the woman quickly reacts by grabbing the drunken man's hand, snapped his fingers, and repeatedly punching him in the face, knocking him out. She then walked away, leaving Saint Germain amazed when he saw her made a quick work out of him. Saint Germain then decided to introduce himself.
'Saint Germain. Swift violence is not my forte, but I certainly recognize and admire an expert.'
It got the woman smiled of his compliment as Saint Germain decided to walk alongside her, to keep her company which they were in the mess hall at night.
'The sheer breath of your travels is incredible. I'm frankly amazed you ever bothered coming back to this shit hole, and delighted.'
They're at the courtyard few days later.
'I needed the money, but I also wanted to pick through the library here. I understood there was a volume, regarding a place called the Infinite Corridor, but I can't find the damn thing.'
And after that, Saint Germain and the adventuring woman manage to find the volume they were looking for.
'This is it. This is the book. And yes, offering us a journey of a lifetime. If you really want to do this, then that is what we'll do. Anything for you.'
However, the cost of going into the Infinite Corridor was the adventuring woman trapped inside. Saint Germain pleads her to take his hand, but she instead throws the crystal to him. Even the Belmont brothers, the Vance sisters, Sypha, Luis, Drew, and Tomoe were able to help him in Lindenfeld, after Saint Germain explains about the Infinite Corridor is a route to many others, a system of doors to other lands separated of their own by space and time, and how he lost someone long ago to them. Saint Germain was able to close the portal to the Infinite Corridor and began searching for the adventuring woman, but he was unable to find her because the portals kept revealing a different location which he kept closing them.
'No! No! No! Where is it?! I know it's here! I just...I have no control! Why can't I control this?!'
Suddenly as the light flashes, the portal opens, and it revealed the location he was looking for as Saint Germain went inside of the Infinite Corridor. Soon as he went inside, the portal closes and noticed that the adventuring woman isn't here. Though, the Infinite Corridor has many twists and turns which she's probably either lost or tried to find a way out to find him.
'I made it back! Shout, so I can find you!'
Before Saint Germain could venture further, the wooden floor breaks apart along with the wooden rails, taken him down to the other platform which it got him completely stunned with every twist and turns in the infinite library. When the wooden rails reveal itself, the platform then stops to the main library. Saint Germain opens the door, awed of so many books in the library until he saw a woman next to the desk as he approaches her.
'Uh, it's me!'
It got her attention when she turns him.
'Hello, you.'
Saint Germain then stops with a glare, noticed that she's not an adventuring woman as she spoke.
'Your friend has recently moved on to another sphere within the Corridor. I am sorry.'
The woman then pulls herself up and walked out of the desk.
'Where did she go?'
'I cannot be certain. I have not looked for her, Saint Germain.'
'You know me?'
'I know much. I'm an Alchemist.'
She then turns away after telling Saint Germain of the adventuring woman's whereabouts. Saint Germain then approaches her, but the Alchemist stops and turns to him.
'So am I.'
'No, not really. You fell by the wayside long ago.'
'Well, I've been...busy, but I still believe in the goals of the path.'
'Believe in? Not committed to?'
'Well, life tends to mitigate against complete commitment, doesn't it? Where is she?'
'And so you find yourself here.'
The Alchemist turns to Saint Germain and walk towards him while continue speaking.
'With no power, no control, and no way forward.'
'It's impossible to control the Corridor. Where is she?'
Though, both the Alchemist and Saint Germain made some valid points about the Infinite Corridor. The Alchemist says otherwise after turning away and walk a few steps.
'No, it's not. You know it's not. You've witnessed it being controlled.'
'Yeah, by a monster who had dozens of people killed to use their souls as fuel.'
'So, don't say it's impossible to control!'
'I am not a mass murderer! Where is she, damn it?!'
Saint Germain didn't like the idea of killing people and using souls for the control of the Infinite Corridor. The Alchemist then tried a different approach as she spoke while walking towards him.
'Saint Germain, what is the true goal of alchemy? Do you remember? Or have you left the path entirely?'
'The magnum opus, the great work, reconciling the chaos of the world.'
'And what is the result of the great work?'
'The Rebis, the putrefied and purified fusion of matter and spirit in a body both male and female. Is this a test?'
Saint Germain have given her an answer about the goal of alchemy, but he was wondering why an Alchemist would ask those questions when he already knows the knowledge of alchemy.
'Two bodies into one, Saint Germain. Two souls.'
'You're not serious.'
'Do I not look serious?'
'You're claiming that the final victory of the alchemical process is using a Rebis to control the Infinite Corridor.'
'Here I am.'
Saint Germain can tell the Alchemist is serious about making the Rebis, but wanted to see it.
'Show me your damn Rebis, then.'
'My Rebis cannot be looked upon. It is a creature of order and chaos, of natural humanity and supernatural horror, purified by fire and sent to rot in Hell. Do you understand what I'm saying?'
'I hope not.'
'You understand. You understand what your alchemy must summon, don't you?'
'You mean 'who', don't you? Who I must summon, bind, and fuse into one?'
'Only then will you be able to travel the Corridor with power. I will show you this.'
The Alchemist decided to take out the key and extends it to Saint Germain.
'This is charged with many deaths. It will open the Corridor wherever you choose.'
Saint Germain was reluctant of using the key that holds the souls of the dead, but grabs it.
'If I take this, then I leave you stranded in the Corridor.'
'I travel the Corridor with complete control. I dance through a hundred different universes every year like a goddess. Why would I ever want to leave?'
The Alchemist is making a valid point of the complete control of the Infinite Corridor and traveling to a different universe. Saint Germain then turns to the Alchemist after looking at the key.
'Thank you.'
'You are welcome. This is useless to you unless you commit to the work of alchemy and do what needs to be done.'
'Could you just help me find her?'
The Alchemist couldn't help but feel annoyed of him asking for help, walk towards the desk.
'I've helped you as much as I can. What remains is your task, not mine. Commit.'
'I will! I am committed. I'm here, aren't I?'
'You must sacrifice.'
'I have.'
'No! You have lost something. That is not the same.'
'Bloody feels like it.'
'You must sacrifice, give willingly.'
'Give what? What's left?'
'Everything! Sacrifice your ethics, your morals. Sacrifice your soul to the task. You must give everything to it, and you must cause pain in the doing of it.'
The Alchemist then sits on the chair as she asks a question.
'Do you love her enough to do that, Saint Germain?'
Saint Germain then thinks it over, but of course, he doesn't want to kill anyone because he's against violence and he's more of a scholar than a murderer. However, he would do anything to find the adventuring woman and hoping to bring her out of the Infinite Corridor.
'I'll do anything...anything to be able to actually tell her...that I love her.'
And with that, Saint Germain got out of the Infinite Corridor, teleported into Romania with a heavy pant. He then sets out on a dark path, hoping to find the information and necessary items he needs. It's been going on for six weeks when he gathered information from the abandoned building, pleading the alchemist for help which he refuses.
'Just give it to me!?'
Saint Germain kills an alchemist by impaling him in the head with a hammer, killing him. Saint Germain panted heavily, but felt horrified after what he did to the alchemist as he weeps out in guilt.
'Oh...God! Oh, God! Wh-wh-why didn't you just...Wh-why couldn't you just help me?!'
Saint Germain weeps, regretting of killing an alchemist after asking him for help. He then pulls himself up and placed his hands against the desk.
'Oh, God, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. I...Why couldn't you help me?! Why wouldn't anyone just fucking help me?! And now look at you. Uh, now...look at me. '
After Saint Germain let out his frustration, tossing the books and the pottery aside and turning to a dead alchemist which he only got a silent respond. He then calms himself down as he grabs the bag, taking the chest along with the items he needs for the travel.
He traveled to the pub, asking the drunken man the information.
'That was indeed the most suave tale about sexual congress with livestock that I've ever heard in these parts, but before you lift your stinking jar to your stinking jaws, you will now tell me ,what was the final location of Dracula's castle?'
After Saint Germain got the information of the location of Dracula's castle, he was in the inn, writing the information. Until, he heard the clanging sound coming from the chest which it got his attention. He opens the chest as the transmission mirror revealed Varney.
'Would you be the famous Saint Germain?'
'I have that pleasure. And you would be...?'
'Varney of London, sir. Friends of friends tell me we have a project in common.'
Though, Saint Germain wished he didn't make the deal with the Alchemist after what he has done, turns to the transmission mirror.
'And what might that be, Varney of Lundenwic, thousand-year-old vampire beggar and tramp?'
'You're heard of me.'
'Generations of the learned have written of detecting you from a thousand paces by your stench. I say again, what project?'
'Returning Dracula to this world.'
Soon after, Saint Germain journeyed through the forest outside of Danesti, along with a vampire named Dragan. Saint Germain gave him an explanation of the project.
'And that's everything. Strict adherence to the plan is crucial.'
'But what if-and hear me out, Saint Germain, what if I just kill you here, drank all of your blood, and did your plan myself?'
'Oh Dragan, feared Dragan, storied Dragan of a hundred ambushes and a thousand dead, yeah, you could absolutely kill me here, but you cannot enact my plan, because you don't have the skills or the wit.'
Dragan just hissed at him, about to kill him, but Saint Germain slapped him in the face.
'Shut up. You sound like a cow farting. Do you want your precious Dracula back or not?'
Dragan then scowled at him, but Saint Germain does want Dracula back.
'Yes.'
'Then get back in your fucking pram. You can't do this without me. Obey my instructions.'
As soon as Saint Germain was about to make his way to Danesti, Dragan growled at him.
'I will kill you.'
'Do as you're fucking told! Drive them all towards Danesti. I'll do the rest. You can kill me afterwards.'
The next day, Saint Germain finally made his way towards Danesti when he saw the villagers talking to each other, buying food at the food stalls, and working.
'Ah, yes. Remember the drill, old boy. 'Charming place, weary traveler. Many coins. Just a simple place to sleep.' It'll be all over soon enough.'
Saint Germain then stops when he saw children running, turn to the people with guilt look on his face. Even though, he's been doing many terrible things six weeks ago, and it's not getting any better since he led Dragan in the forest.
'What a damned shame. All these little lives. Straighten up, man. They all have lives. You have nothing. Is that fair? '
Back at the present, Alucard, Alleyne, Taka, and Sumi were starting to grow suspicious of Saint Germain, but Nowa is curious, wondering what he's thinking. However, Alucard widens his eyes, using his enhanced hearing when he heard something coming from the forest.
"Can you hear that?" Alucard asks.
"Yes." Alleyne nods, turning towards the forest.
"Yeah, I can hear it too." Nowa adds seriously.
Taka and Sumi readied their blades when they, Greta, and Saint Germain turn towards the forest.
"I hear nothing." Saint Germain states.
"Me neither." Greta agrees.
"Somethings coming." Alucard said as he and his group walk towards the main gate, readied their weapons and leaving Saint Germain alone.
Soon as the footsteps is getting closer, they saw the group of people came out of the forest.
"Someone brought your stupid bloody horse back." Alucard said with a scoff.
"That's a good horse." Greta points out, running towards the people when she told them that Alucard and his group manage to kill the night creatures.
"She's very good, isn't she? It's a shame." Saint Germain states, walking towards them.
"What is?" Alucard inquires.
"Well, such a talent with the common people, but it's wasted out here, don't you think?" Saint Germain question when Alucard and his group turns to him.
"I think she's probably right where she's supposed to be." Alucard states with a small smile.
"They're from Lasa, a village about ten miles away." Greta explains, approaches them. "They've been walking for hours."
"And they were attacked, too?" Sumi questions.
"Their village was put to the torch. They say they're not the only ones. This group includes refugees from five other villages in the region." Greta explains.
"I see." Alucard said. "They escaped."
"They survived." Greta told him. "They lost many people to vampire and night creature feeding attacks."
"Just like here in Danesti." Taka states.
"Interesting, why would they be burning the villages though?" Saint Germain questions with a ponder.
"If vampires are involved, this isn't the blind destruction we're all used to with night creatures." Alucard explains, earned their attention. "They're conducting feeding to sustain them through continued battle. They're removing shelter and the possibility of aid and witnesses. This is troubling in its complexity."
"I am of course not a military man, although I have certainly advised generals and kings, but might I suggest that this village is inherently indefensible?" Saint Germain inquires.
Alucard, Alleyne, Nowa, Sumi, and Taka knew that Saint Germain is right because the village of Danesti were barely holding on their own against the night creatures for the last four days. Even though, they lost many of the villagers during the fight against the night creatures and now, the people have seeking refuge.
"It hasn't worked out will so far, has it?" Greta inquires.
"Yes, your village were barely holding on against the night creatures." Taka agrees.
"And he does have a point." Alucard adds, leaving Saint Germain smirked.
"Perhaps, just until we all find out what's going on, perhaps the remaining persons in your charge might be moved to a more secure location, like, um...y-your castle...possibly?" Saint Germain suggests, leaving Alucard growled.
However, Alucard and his group are starting to grow suspicious of Saint Germain, wondering how did he know of Dracula's castle and why would he want the villagers and the refugees to go there when the forest is filled with night creatures along with a certain vampire, Dragan, who Saint Germain led him there. With no other options, they decided to take them to the Dracula's castle.
That's it for the 14th chapter.
