Chapter: 3.
In the Owl House, Team RWBY were all deep in sleep. Out of the 4 girls, Weiss was string in her sleep. Her mind was reliving the events that transpired the other day. The tornado that landed them on the Boiling Isles, encountering a witch called the Owl Lady, falling from the sky, meeting Emperor Belos and learning that the new friend they made was really a Princess and his daughter.
Suddenly the head of a giant horned demon appeared before her. It's eyes glowed a haunting yellow, which grew into blinding light. The shock woke her up along with her teammates.
"Weiss, you okay?" Yang asked her teammate.
Weiss was still startled by what she saw in her dream. After a second she looked to her friends with a calm expression.
"Yeah, it was just a... weird dream" she said.
"Weird?" Blake inquired. "Compared to everything that happened yesterday?"
"Does seeing the image of a demon stare directly at you count?" Weiss asked her friend.
Blake just shrugged. "Probably?"
"Well no sense worrying about yesterday" Ruby said with enthusiasm in her voice. "because today is a chance to really see what the Boiling Isles has to offer" Ruby then, opens a nearby window and shouts out it. "Good morning terrifying fantasy world!"
"Good morning" a random giant octopus monster greeted her, before sinking into the sea.
"seems like a nice guy" Ruby said being slightly unnerved by the creature.
King was still sleeping on one of the sleeping bags. Yang lifted up the little demon, waking up in the process. "Good morning you little cutie-pie" Yang began repeatedly kissing him. Like he was a small adorable house pet.
"I am not your cutie-pie!" King retorted trying to get away from the affection he was receiving.
"Yes you are" Yang hugged him, before setting the small demon on all 4's.
King sighed laying on his stomach "I know" the small canine demon admitted before going back to sleep.
Each of the girls proceed to get themselves ready. Unfortunately they didn't have any spare clothes to change into, but hopefully Eda might have some spares laying around. Ruby went to the bathroom first, letting some owls walk out as she opened the door. She went inside and received a surprise from Hooty.
"Hi Ruby" Hooty greeted Ruby, which only scared her and she gave him a chop to the head causing him to retracted his head out the window. "I'm just wishing you a good morning" he said before pulling himself all the way back to the door his face resided. "Jeez! Hoot! Ow!"
"Sorry Hooty!" Ruby apologized.
After a few moments the girls were all ready. They all gathered around the kitchen table to discuss their next course of action.
"So what are our plans for leaving this place" Blake asked the first question.
"What do you mean 'leave?', we just got here?" Yang inquired.
"I mean getting a new boat and going home" Blake answered.
"Blake's right, we're not staying here forever and it's only a matter of time before someone from Beacon notices were gone" Weiss said logically.
"But in the meantime we can still explore the Isles, right?" Ruby said with enthusiasm in her voice.
"Ruby this isn't a vacation, we're stranded on a series of islands made from the bones of a gigantic dead demon that shouldn't physically be possible to exist" Weiss counter argued.
"You make a good point Weiss, but no one said we can't make the most out of being stranded" Ruby said.
Weiss relented. "fine, so what's on the schedule for today?"
"I move we have breakfast first, I'm hungry" Yang said.
"I second the motion" Blake agreed.
"Then let's eat" Ruby said.
"Eat what exactly?, we have no idea what's edible to humans or faunus here"said a concerned Weiss.
"Luz and her parents had human food" Yang brought up the meal they had last night.
"Because Luz is half human and her mom is human so it's safe to assume Belos would have that for his family" Blake added.
"We can ask Eda if she has any human food?" Ruby said.
Speaking about Eda she walked into the kitchen just as the girls mentioned her. She was wearing a plum sweater with amber cuffs, a stained violet nightgown that had a small piece of it taken out and yellow bunny slippers. She looked like she only woke up just now.
"Morning Eda how did you sleep" Ruby greeted the Owl Lady.
"Ugh! Great" Eda said rummaging in her hair, pulling out a spider, then flicking it. "Who are you?"
"Huh?" Ruby said surprised at this. "Wait you remember us? Yesterday? Team RWBY? 4 human girls? Fighting an Arcana Knight? Meeting the Emperor? Mentoring his daughter are any bells in your head ringing?.
As Ruby talked, Eda just went to one of the cupboards, opened it and took out a mug that said 30 & Flirty on it, before closing it. She then went to the fridge and took out a jug, then poured a red liquid into it. "Kid, lay off the details until I've had my cup of Apple Blood"
"You mean Apple Juice right?" Weiss asked.
"No" Eda responded before sitting down to drink.
"So, what do have planned to teach Luz when she gets here? You gonna teach her some spells? Or brew potions? Can we help?" Ruby fired a barrage of questions at Eda.
"What's with the sudden interest in magic, i thought you girls were all Huntresses or something?" Eda asking her own questions.
"Yeah, what's up Sis?" Yang joining the conversation.
"How are you Not just as interested?" Ruby asked. "This is like a dream come true, Magic, Fighting Demons and Bad Guys, Saving a Princess this is what i always imagined being a Huntress was like"
"I think nightmare would be more accurate, these islands are formed from a giant corpse!" Blake said.
"Your friend has a point kid" Eda taking a sip of her Apple Blood.
"Come on Guys! Where's your sense of adventure" Ruby asked her friends.
"I think that went the way of our destroyed boat" Weiss stated.
"But in answer to your question Red, I didn't exactly plan a schedule for the Princess so i have no idea she could be here today or next week" Eda then got a look in her eye. "But if you really want something to do, you can help me with my potion deliveries "
Ruby looked at Eda confused. "Potion deliveries?"
Eda then drew a golden circle in the air and a large sack floated into the room. "You girls know i run a stand that sells junk humans throw away right"
"Yes" Yang remembering that was how they all met.
"That's a side business i do on the weekends. My main income is from homemade potions" Eda opened the sack in front of the girls, revealing several vials, jugs and bottles filled with different liquids.
Weiss took out a random bottle to inspect it. "You made all of these?"
"Yup!" Eda said.
"Who would need stuff like this?" Blake pulled out a couple of bottles and read them out. "Like boil cream?, headlight fluid? And snake oil?"
"No one wants an unoiled snake" Eda commented.
"Well i guess we can help out with this" Ruby said.
"That's the spirit! Now any questions?" Eda asked the girls.
Ruby raised her hand to ask a question. "Huh? Can we have breakfast first"
"Oh right? I guess that would be smart" Eda realized that they haven't had anything to eat since last night.
"What do you have to eat?" Yang asked.
"That depends" Eda said.
"Depends on what?" Weiss raised an eye brow.
"On whether or not humans can stomach Goblin Haggis?" Eda answered.
Team RWBY all had looks of concern, shock and disgust when Eda said 'Goblin Haggis'. Yang in particular was trying to hold herself back from throwing up.
"Do you have anything else?" Ruby asked.
"You guys like eyeballs?" Eda shrugged.
Yang couldn't hold back after Eda mentioned eyeballs and vomited out a window.
"I'll see if i can make pancakes" Weiss said.
"Pots and pans are in the cupboards, milk and eggs in the fridge" Eda told her.
"Thanks" Weiss says to Eda before going to get the ingredients. Ruby goes to help her, while Blake went to help Yang feel better.
Moments later Ruby and Weiss are cooking the pancakes on the stove, thank god Witches here aren't stuck in the dark ages. Blake had finished helping Yang get over throwing up. They along with Eda and King were gathered around the kitchen table with plates, forks and knifes ready. Ruby using a spatula scoops the pancakes off the stove and onto a pair of plates Weiss is holding. Who placed them on the table.
Everybody each took a couple of pancakes and started eating. After they finished Eda briefed the girls on their errand for the day.
"I need you kids to go and delivery all of the potions in this bag to my clients in Bonesborough" Eda handed Ruby the sack and a list with multiple addresses on it.
"Sounds easy enough" Blake said.
"Between the 4 of us it should be easy" Weiss added.
Ruby slung the sack over her shoulder and put the list in her pocket. "Right then, Team RWBY let's move out" She headed for the door with her teammate following behind.
As they went out the door, Eda approached King who was sleeping on a treasure chest and nudged the tiny demon to wake up. "Hey! Crony wake up your going with them"
"What?! But i just found the perfect spot, Why do i have to go?" King objected to having to leave his napping spot.
"You and i know they'll get lost or eaten, probably both" Eda stated.
"NO! WE WON'T!" Ruby suddenly pressed her face against a window and exclaimed. Which freaked out Eda and King.
Eda twirled her finger, making the curtain cover the window. "Plus you work for me, unless you want to start paying rent?" She bluntly said to King, which made him throw a quick little tantrum before exiting through the door outside. "Be back by nightfall or risk mortal peril" Eda said rather cheerfully and closed the door in front of them.
"Have a nice trip" Hooty said.
"Ugh! Let's get this over with" King said in a annoyed tone.
The group walked for decent amount of time before they reached their destination. "Well, it looks like we have quite a sizable number of clients to serve" Ruby said as she read the list Eda gave her. "I say we divide into 2 small teams so as to cover more ground"
"What about that thing Eda said about us getting lost" Weiss interjected.
"Or eaten" Yang added.
"It's still a possibility, we still don't know everything about this place" Weiss said.
"What's there to worry about we have our weapons in case something goes wrong" Blake said logically.
"Plus we have this ferocious little cutie watching out for us" Ruby knelt down to King's height and petted the small demon on his head.
"I don't like to brag but I'm not the King of Demons for nothing" King being conceited.
Blake looked at the boastful canine with skepticism. She thought to herself "There's no way this creature could be the King of Demons, King of Ego would be more accurate" She looked back to the others for the moment. "So how do we split up?" She asked.
"How about you and Weiss take half the list, while me and Yang go with King to do the other half, report in about an hour or 2" Ruby said.
Weiss, Blake and Yang all nodded in agreement and split off into their assigned groups. Each group took 1 half of the list and went off in a different direction. Group 1 consisting of Ruby, Yang and King were currently at the north part of Bonesborough looking for their first stop. Unfortunately they were having difficultly finding it.
"Are you sure 49 Agony Avenue is around here" Ruby asked King.
The little canine demon replied. "Of course it's around here, i know these streets like the back of my hand"
"You said that 3 blocks ago" Ruby criticizing the supposed overlord's sense of direction.
"Hey! Don't for get how's the king of demons around here" retorted King.
"King of getting lost is more like it" Yang remarked.
"WEEEEEH!" The tiny demon attacked Yang at her legs only for the yellow huntress to pick him up by the scruff of his fur.
"I'll just ask for directions" said Ruby.
"You think that's a good idea?" Yang warned her sister.
"Sis we're in a place we aren't familiar with, it's perfectly okay to ask the locals for directions" Ruby said in a logical fashion.
"And get eaten by said locals" Yang echoing Eda's earlier warning.
"Oh come on Yang I'm sure not everyone is a cannibal" Ruby said.
"That's what they all say" King remarked.
Ruby did a quick look around and spotted a male centaur looking at a pumpkin close by. "This guy looks legit, maybe he can help" She then walked right up to the centaur, tapping him on the shoulder. "Excuse me sir could you help us"
The centaur turned around to face Ruby, only his face was on his chest. "My eyes are down here" He corrected the young lady.
"AAAHH!" Upon seeing this Ruby screamed and fell on the ground.
Yang and King came by and helped Ruby to her feet.
After the initial shock Ruby regained her composer and asked. "Sorry about that, we're looking for Agony Avenue"
"Oh it's that way" The Centaur said pointing to his right.
"Thank you very much good sir" Ruby thanked the man horse and the group followed in the direction he pointed towards.
An hour and a half later everyone regrouped at a curb next to a Not Dog stand, basically it was a hot dog but the weenie was substituted with something else the girls didn't recognize. The girls were sitting on the curb with the sack next to Ruby and all of them, while King was munching on a Not Dog.
"Why the long faces?" King asked Team RWBY taking notice of the rather depressed and exhausted looks they each had.
"This day hasn't gone how i thought it would" Ruby said.
"Yeah from the townsfolk running and screaming because they never saw a human, let alone 4" Blake added.
"Plus the ones that tried to eat us" Weiss lifted her elbow that had a small creature nibbling on it.
King had just about finished his Not Dog "Well what did you expect, the Boiling Isles are a cesspool of despair"
"I don't know, going on magical quests with a grand treasure while meeting colourful characters along the way" Ruby said.
Yang helped pull off the demon that tried to eat Weiss and threw it away. She then turned her attention to her sister "I'm sorry things haven't turned out great Ruby"
"It's like i said the world isn't a fairy tale" Blake said.
"Yeah i know" Ruby stood up and slung the sack over her shoulder. "Let's wrap this up"
The group headed off to their final delivery before returning to the Owl House. Their last stop was not what they were expecting. A huge elegant and beautiful looking castle, needless to say the girls were amazed by the sight behold to them.
"Wow" Ruby said.
"Not what i was expecting" Yang added.
"Big houses always belong to big wack jobs. Let's kick the package in and leave." King suggested.
Ruby wasn't listening to the small canine and walked in past 2 large doors. The rest of her team followed in after her and King not wanting to be left behind did so too, as the doors slammed closed. The entire room was pitch-black and nobody could see a thing.
"Hello! Anyone Home!" Weiss called out looking for any residents of this castle.
"We're with Eda the Owl Lady!" Ruby joined her friends calling for anybody.
Suddenly multiple lights lit up the room revealing levels with rows and rows of books. The group came to a painting of an old wizard wearing azure coloured robes decorated with stars and crescent moon. Then, as if right on que. The same exact wizard emerged from behind a curtain.
Ruby gasped in excitement. "Oooooh today just got good"
"A weird old man in Jim-jams... great" King didn't sound impressed by this 'wizard'.
"Sorry i was in my observatory reading the stars, when i heard voices coming from down stairs" The Wizard said as he walked down the stairs. "And who might you 4 be?" He asked gingerly stroking his beard.
"Oh we're-" Ruby spoke but the Wizard interrupted her mid-speech.
"Pardon me young lady, but dare I say, I sense something unique about you" said the elderly Wizard.
His words of flattery made Ruby blush.
The Wizard twirled his finger making a chair and couch appear along with a small table in the middle that had a tea set and a few desserts. "Care to join me for some tea?" he offered.
"That sounds lovely" Ruby replied.
But before she could take a step Weiss stopped her by grabbing her shoulder and whispered. "Ruby, what are you doing, we should just go"
King jumped on her other shoulder and whispered to her. "Yeah, let's scram! Wizards are just old people with glitter in their pockets" they watched the old man sprinkle some of the said material out of his pocket. "I don't trust him"
Ruby pretested by saying "But look at the stars on his robes and there's a baby fox in his beard" a baby fox was indeed in the Wizard's beard, who giggled upon being noticed. "And he's offering us tea, Blake you love that stuff!, Plus i see scones on the table"
"Where?!" King leaped from her shoulder and made a dash for the table.
"You had me at tea" Blake said.
"Okay fine, but only for a little bit" Weiss said in defeat.
The 4 girls sat down around the table. Ruby and Blake took a cup of tea, while Yang and King started snacking on the scones. Weiss was still hesitant about this Wizard and didn't take a cup or any of the desserts on the table.
"Now what are you all doing here?" the Wizard asked.
This time giving Ruby a chance to speak. "We're delivering those potions you ordered from Eda the Owl Lady Mr. Wizard um sir?"
"Please, call me Adegast" he said.
"Okay Mr. Adegast?" Weiss said with suspicion in her voice. "You don't mind if i ask what you need these potions for?"
"Oh lots of things, cleaning, cooking and a few odds and ends that help me run a small business i own" Adegast explained.
"You should run a small business of more scones into my mouth! Ha!" King said eating all the scones on the table.
"Oh really what do you sell?" Ruby asked.
"I sell magical charms and items" Adegast said.
"Really" was Ruby's reply.
"Like what?" Blake asked.
"Amulets that bring good luck, Talismans that predict the future and some other trinkets" He said.
"That's sounds neat" Ruby said.
"I must say i didn't expect my potions to be delivered by 4 humans? Doesn't the Owl Lady usually do them herself" Adegast asked giving a light stroke of his beard.
"We volunteered to do it as part an agreement for staying with her" Blake taking a sip of tea.
Adegast again stroked his beard. "That's interesting?, you know it's quite rare for humans to appear on the Boiling Isles"
"You sure could have fooled me" Yang said in a dull tone.
"Yeah everyone we've met today is either terrified of us or wants to eat us" Weiss gave a brief recap of what they went through today.
"This hasn't been the grand and glorious adventure i pictured" Yang added.
"Perhaps this my interest you?" the elderly wizard got up from his seat and walked over to a bookshelf He then pulled out a rolled up scroll or piece of paper and walked back to the group. Adegast presented the scroll to the group by placing it on the table.
The girls just stared at it with intrigue.
"What is it?" Ruby asked.
She picked up the scroll and unfolded it revealing a map of a forest on the Boiling Isles.
"There is an old legend of a magic staff in the centre of an ancient lake" The Old Wizard spoke as if he were spinning a tale. "And is waiting for a chosen one to claim it. Perhaps one of you 4 are destined to find it?" Adegast glanced at the girls as he spoke.
Ruby's eyes sparkled with delight. Yang seemed intrigued by the Adegast's story . While Weiss and Blake looked at the man with skepticism.
"Why are you telling us this Mr. Adegast? What's the catch?" Weiss asked.
"I feel something special about you 4, as if you were meant to be here" The Wizard answered in a very sagely tone.
"Well thanks for the tea, but we really need to be going okay bye!" Weiss rushed her friends out the door in a hurry.
Some time later at the Owl House. Luz had arrived wearing her casual clothes and carrying a satchel. She entered the house and greeted the Owl Lady inside. "Hello Eda, I'm ready for my first day under your wing!"
"Oh hey kid, you look eager" Eda said.
"Totally, I'm studying under the greatest Witch of all time. This is a dream come true!" Luz exclaimed.
"Wow don't let your old man hear you say that" Eda said.
"Ah he knows i still love him" Luz said nonchalantly. The Princess looked around for Team RWBY "Hey? Where are Ruby and the others?"
"I sent them with King on an errand, they should be back later" Just as Eda said that Team RWBY and King came bursting through the front door.
"Hi Eda! Hi Luz!" Ruby rushed past Luz and Eda with her semblance and up the stairs. Luz and Eda were left bewildered by the sudden display of speed.
"What the hell was that about?" Eda said in total confusion.
Meanwhile Ruby was in their temporary room quickly gathering previsions and supplies. King, Yang, Weiss and Blake all entered the room and say Ruby scrambling various items into a backpack.
"Sis what are you doing?" Yang asked Ruby.
"Didn't you hear that wizard guy?" Ruby asking her own question. "This is our chance to have a real quest"
"PSST! Hahahaha! You actually believe that" King laughed.
"Why not this is the kind of thing we set out to do, Grand adventures, Hidden secrets, Lost treasures and the 4 extremely cute bad girl huntresses road to fame and glory" Ruby stated.
Eda and Luz popped their heads into the room to see what they were talking about.
"What's this talk about bad girls I'm hearing?" Eda asked.
"Yay what are you guys doing?" Luz said. As she and Eda walked in.
King stood on top of a rolled up sleeping bag to get closer to Luz and Eda's eye level. "Eda, could you tell them how dumb Wizards are"
"Ugh! Those guys are the worst" Luz sounded disgusted from the mere mention of wizards.
"That's true, never trust a man in casual drapery" Eda swung her arm making King duck.
"Why are you talking about them anyway?" Luz questioned.
"Eda's wizard client" King spoke holding back laughter. "Told... Told Ruby" but he was losing control. "She was a-" he was laughing now. "A Chosen One!"
"He said what?!" Luz exclaimed.
While Eda joined King in laughing maniacally. To the point she fell over on her back. Ruby blushed in embarrassment and pulled her hood over her head. However Luz, Weiss, Blake and Yang weren't laughing, in fact they were giving Eda and King very disapproving looks.
"Hey! Knock it off already!" Yang spoke up in defence of her sister.
Eda and King settled down with the laughter. With Eda wiping a tear from her eye. "Right sorry there Blondie, it's just i can't believe humans would fall for that crap"
"He even gave them a map" King was still chuckling a little.
"Map? Let me see" Eda asked.
Reluctantly Ruby took out the map and handed it to Eda, how unfolded it and began to inspect it. "You thought this was real, it's junk" was all Eda said.
"How can you tell?" Weiss asked.
"Because if there was a magical staff i would have stolen it along time ago or Belos would have it" Eda gave her explanation as she handed the map back to Ruby, who took it.
Ruby began to feel disheartened by Eda's explanation. Yang quickly picked up on this and attempted to cheer her up "Don't get so down Ruby, will find you a real quest"
"Thanks Yang" Ruby said.
The others left the room leaving only Ruby and Yang to themselves. Ruby unfolded the map again, but she noticed something direct sunlight from the window behind her was shining on the map revealing a secret path to the staff.
"Yang take a look at this" Ruby motioned to her sister.
"What is it sis?" Yang asked as she looked at the map with Ruby. She saw the the path to the staff that was previously hidden. "That wasn't there before?"
"I know?" Ruby added. "What does it mean?"
"No idea if it's suppose to be a lost magic staff why is the path on the map hidden by sunlight?" Yang questioned.
"Maybe it's a metaphor?, the path shall be revealed to the chosen one and such" Ruby believing she figured it out.
"Ruby life isn't a fairy tale" Yang said.
"I know, but this is the Boiling Isles! Things are different here and if i recall it was you who wanted us to become famous by doing a grand heroic task" Ruby reminded her sister of the circumstances that landed them on the Boiling Isles.
Yang looked at her pondering for a moment. "Okay you got me, What's the plan fearless leader?"
"Simple, We go forth, Have an adventure, Claim the staff, Return triumphant, The End." Ruby gave a brief outline of her plan for an adventure.
"That is simple, Let's do it" Yang nodded and held out her hand to Ruby, who grasped it.
Meanwhile Eda and Luz were sitting in the kitchen, Weiss and Blake were with them because they were curious about how magic works and King was taking a nap in the living room.
"Okay Princess" Eda addressed Luz. "And other people" Referring to Weiss and Blake. "It's time for your first lesson under The Owl Lady, Edalyn Clawthorne!. But you will refer to me as Miss Clawthorne"
"What are we going to learn today? Miss Clawthorne" Luz asked with enthusiasm.
"I really didn't make a schedule or anything" Eda picked out some wax from her ear.
"That's very unorganized for some one who's suppose to be mentoring to a princess on magic" Weiss chastised the Owl Lady.
"Cut me some slack i got hired yesterday" Eda said.
"She's got you there Weiss" Blake added.
"Whatever, I already know a good deal of spells from my past teachers" Luz said.
"Like the teleportation and the one that controlled that dragon?" Blake remembering when they met Luz she used those 2 spells. The first to get away from those Coven Guards and later against the Arcana Knight's Dragon.
"Yes" Luz answered. "Those and others"
"What kind of other spells?" Weiss became curious.
Luz began listing off the spells she knew. "Fireballs, Ice blast, Levitation, Moving objects with my mind, calling my Hippogriff when i need a ride..."
"A Hippogriff?!" the other's exclaimed.
"Yeah Kikimora gave it to me for my birthday as a pet" Luz said.
"That's a pretty rare pet" Eda commented.
"Really?" Blake sounding surprised.
"We're getting off topic" Eda said. "How about you show us some magic"
"Right" Luz got up from her seat. "Miss Clawthorne, Blake Belladonna and Weiss Schnee, I Luz Gabriella Noceda Belos, present to you. Some of the magic at my command" Luz raised her hand above her head and extended her index finger.
Everybody watched as a orb of light the size of a baseball formed at the end of her finger. The ball of light floated from her finger tip in front of Weiss and Blake, before dissipating. They were fascinated by how she made seemingly appear from thin air.
Weiss simply went "Wow"
"Yeah Wow!" Blake added.
"Even I'm slightly impressed, the kid did that without making a circle" Eda said.
The other 2 were confused by what she just said.
Eda looked at them bashfully. "Oh i guess nobody explained how magic works?"
"Yeah I've been curious myself" Blake said.
"Me too" Weiss added.
"Alright, but let me ask you 2 something first. Where do you think magic comes from?" Eda posed a question for the huntresses.
Both Weiss and Blake thought for a moment. Then they both gave their respective answer to the question.
Weiss' answer was "The Heart?"
And Blake's was "The Soul?"
"Actually, Ice Queen is right" Eda said.
They were both dumbfounded by Eda's answer. "Really?"
"No really" Eda pulls a scroll out from her hair and unrolls it, revealing a disturbing image. "It comes from a sack of magic bile attached to a witches heart" it showed an illustration of a large green sack attached to said organ.
The duo were naturally grossed out a little.
"Can i keep that?" Luz asked.
"No" Eda rolled up the scroll and tucked in safely back into her hair.
"So all witches have those... Bile sacks?" Blake jumbled a question.
"Pretty much yeah" Eda stated.
"And they can do magic with these things?" Weiss said.
"Also yes" Eda stated.
"But I've noticed something about Luz" Weiss added.
"What's that?" Eda asked.
"I noticed witches like you and Lilith have to twirl your finger and draw a circle in the air to cast a spell" Weiss explained from her observations. "But Luz doesn't need to do the finger twirl to do magic, why is that?"
Eda pondered for a moment. "No Idea"
"You know i have no idea either" Luz added.
"What?!" The 3 of them exclaimed.
"The thing is, no one has really explained it to me. When ever i asked my dad he just tells me the Titan blessed us so or whatever" Luz said.
"Vague and mysterious" Blake said growing more curious about Luz's family history.
"Will have more time for that mystery later, let's get back on topic" Eda interjected. "Princess, elaborate on why you have trouble with magic again?"
Luz began to explain "Well as you saw the other day, sometimes when i cast a spell it can go wrong. Like with that teleportation spell or a light spell turning into a miniature sun or trying to grow a large tree and only making a little flower"
"So you have more power than a normal witch, but less control over said power" Weiss hypothesized.
"pretty much, Yep" Luz confirmed.
"Sounds like it's going to a bit of an up hill battle" Weiss said.
"I like a challenge, so let's get to it" Eda said enthusiastically.
Elsewhere in the forest close to Bonesborough. Ruby and Yang were walking through said forest, while following the map they received from Adegast.
"Okay we should reach the first stop on the map soon" Yang said.
"This is so exciting!" Ruby said brimming with energy. "We're going on a real magical quest, just like in a old fairy tale"
"Yup, and we're the protagonists" Yang added.
"I know!" Ruby's eyes glittered with excitement.
"So let's get this quest started" Yang said as she and Ruby pumped their fist in the air. The sisters kept walking until they reached their destination.
The duo gasped in awe at what they were seeing. It was a whole village of adorable cat like creature with some weird birds flying around. The girls took in the sights of the village, being mesmerized by it's strange charm.
Particularly Ruby. "Wow i didn't know a place like this could exist"
"Only on the Boiling Isles it could" Yang remarked.
As they walked down the street, they came to a water fountain in the middle of the town. And suddenly a handsome muscular man with an eye patch over 1 eye, came out of the fountain.
"Woah!" they both gasped. Particularly Yang who was ogling his abs.
"Greetings young maidens I am Nevereth Bladestrife are you 2 perhaps looking for the celestial staff of the magical lake?" He introduced himself, while stepping out of the fountain.
Ruby was blushing like crazy "Uh huh"
"I think we made the right choice" Yang nudged her sister.
Moments later Ruby, Yang and Nevereth were walking through the forest as Nevereth was explaining an elaborate and cliche backstory.
"My village was ravaged and since that day i have been searching for a way to avenge my people"
"I'm sorry to hear that" Ruby felt sympathy for him.
"No worries, if this staff is a powerful as you say will have no trouble beating any evil" Yang said confidently.
"Thank you Lady Yang" Nevereth said making Yang blush a little.
They're playful flirting was interrupted by the appearance of a large bear-like monster with black fur, piercing red eyes and sharp fangs and claws. It reminded Ruby and Yang of an Ursa Grimm, minus the spikes and masks that the Grimm are known for. The beast roared at the travellers and charged in for an attack, but our heroes stood their ground and drew their weapons for battle. Ruby Slashed it with her scythe, Nevereth assisted her with his sword and Yang finished it off with a punch so powerful it was sent flying into the horizon.
"Woohoo! that was awesome!" Yang cheered.
"Yes you both were exceptional" Nevereth said sheathing his sword. "I see why you 2 were chosen by the wizard"
Ruby and Yang stared at each other and then to him in confusion. "What?"
"You think we were chosen?" Ruby said.
"Of course, only someone valiant and strong such as you could claim the celestial staff" He said.
Ruby felt flattered by the compliment and blushed slightly. "Oh, well you know"
"Easy there sis keep your skirt on" Yang said.
Nevereth turned to Yang. "And you lady Yang the way you dispatched that beast was truly breathtaking"
Yang was starting to fell the flattery and blushed slightly. "Oh uhh thank you"
"Now how needs to keep their clothes on" Ruby whispered to her sister.
"Shut up" Yang retorts.
Our heroes continue on their quest. But for now we return to The Owl House and join the rest of Team RWBY along with Eda and Luz. At the moment Eda was just giving the girls some advice unrelated to magic, but still helpful advice non the less.
"And that's why you should always measure twice and cut once or never befriend a man in sandals" Eda said.
"Good to know" Blake said.
"Aside from life advice, got anything for potions?" Luz asked.
"What kind are you thinking of?" Eda asked.
"A smokescreen potion" Luz answered.
"Use Hazeshrooms for a thick smoke to make a better escape" Eda replied.
"Got it" Luz gave a thumbs up. She then turned her attention to Weiss, who staring up at the ceiling. She walked up to her and asked. "What's up besides the ceiling?"
"Sorry i was just wondering what Ruby and Yang are up to, they didn't come out of our room since Eda we got back?" Weiss explained.
"Are you worried?" Luz asked.
"Yes" Weiss answered.
"You wanna go check on them?" Luz asked.
"Yes" Weiss said again.
And so they went up stairs to the makeshift room that Team RWBY was occupying, but found no one in the room at all.
"Where are they?, did they leave?" a confused Luz asked.
"I guess we didn't notice." Weiss said.
Suddenly Eda showed up next to them to see what was going on. "What's up?" She asked.
"Ruby and Yang are gone?" Luz stated.
Eda walked through the room and looking around as she did. She then pocked her head out the window. "Hooty! Where did they Go!" Eda shouted.
The house demon heard the Owl Lady call to him and he extended his tube like neck all the way up to the window and said. "If you want the answer that you Seek, Solve my riddle within a Week-" but Eda just slammed her fist hard against the wall making Hooty shriek in pain. "OW! Okay okay they went into forest near Bonesborough. Sheesh!" Hooty retracted himself back into the door.
"Hmm?" Eda thought to herself as she returned to the den.
Luz, Weiss and Blake followed her to the den.
"What's the matter?" Luz asked.
"Black you said you 4 got that map from my wizard client?" Eda asked her own question.
"First it's Blake and yes" Blake answered in order.
"Why do you ask?" Weiss became curious.
"Truth be told, i don't know very much about him and I've got a bad feeling about this" Eda pondered.
"Yeah me too" Weiss agreed.
Eda nudged King, who was sleeping on the couch. "Crony wake up!"
"Less talky, more nappy" King disregarded her. But Weiss wasn't having any of that and picked up the little demon by the scruff of his fur. "Weh!" He cried out.
"Your coming with us no questions" The Ice Queen said.
King sighed in defeat. "Ugh Fine"
And so the 5 of them set off to find their wayward friends. Weiss thought the best place to start would be Adegasts castle. But when they arrived, they found the entire castle a complete mess. Tapestries were torn, windows cracked or broken and there was a thin layer of dust everywhere.
The group made there way to the study, that Team RWBY met the Wizard and it was in equally bad shape. Weiss, Blake and King were confused by the state everything was in.
"It wasn't like this before?" said King.
"What's going on here?" Blake said equally perplexed by the situation.
Luz was looking through a stack of papers she found hidden in a bookshelf. "Guys I've got a bad feeling about this" she said with a very concerned expression.
"Why's that kid?" Eda asked.
Luz showed the papers she was looking at to the others. They were several copies of the same map that Adegast gave the girls earlier. Weiss and Blake became extremely worried by this revelation. While Eda became even more suspicious. The group then left the castle, following King who had caught the scent of both Ruby and Yang. He led them to the cat village that the duo were at not to long ago. Only to see it decrepit and abandoned, with no signs of life. There were also thorny vines growing everywhere.
Eda looked at the town as if a chill was running up and down her spine. "You sure they were here?"
King was on all 4's sniffing the ground. "I can't mistake their scents. Strawberries and hot sauce mixed with adolescence."
Eda, Weiss and Blake walked up to the fountain in the centre of town. Eda picked up a cat that was laying in the fountain and gave it a flick on the head. "Wake up you! What you do with the 2 humans that came through here! What's your end game!" She shaked the cat but got no response.
The cat twisted it's head around it's body, like a doll instead of a living creature. "To find your friends, to still your wrath, look ahead and follow the path" it gave a wicked cackle before disintegrating into dust.
The girls all gasped at the sight and King screamed. "Aah! The cat man melted!"
Weiss felt like is was losing her mind. "What the hell is going on here Eda?"
And so did Blake. "Does stuff like that always happen?"
"It's a trap, they want me to follow" Eda said.
"Eda" Luz looked at The Owl Lady. "What do we do?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Eda looked back at the Princess. "I'm going to follow them, while you head back to the house" Eda summoned her staff and prepared to take flight. But got stopped by Weiss.
"Wait! Your just going to fly in there by yourself?!" She said.
Luz chimed in with. "At least let me call in some Coven Scouts for help"
"No way!" Eda protested. "This is my problem and I'll handle it!" With that Eda hopped on her staff and flew off by herself to find Ruby and Yang before it was to late.
"Eda! Wait!" Blake shouted but the Owl Lady was already long gone.
"Now What do we do?" Weiss asked.
"I say we follow Eda's instructions and go home" King stated.
"King!?" Weiss shouted.
"What if say's she can handle it, she can handle it" King tried to worm his way out of helping.
"She didn't say that she could, she said that she would. That's totally different" Weiss retorted.
"Well she probably thought it" King said.
Luz wasn't listening to the conversation as she was looking down the path Eda flew off in "I'm going after Eda"
"What?!" King, Blake and Weiss gasped.
"Luz are you crazy?" Weiss questioned her new friend's sanity. "We don't know what's at the end of that path, for all we know it could be a dragon bigger than the one from yesterday or giant spiders?"
"And here i thought Huntresses were fearless" Luz retorted.
"I'm just being pragmatic, It's obviously a trap" Weiss added.
"Why should that stop me? Besides your Teammates are in trouble, and wouldn't they do the same for you? Hmm?" Luz asked.
Weiss thought for a moment. She Ruby and Yang too well to know they would recklessly charge head first into danger to save anybody. "Ugh your right" She sighed. "But there's still one more thing how are we going to catch up to her?"
"That'll be a snap" Luz put her fingers in her mouth and whistled. Within seconds a Hippogriff flew down from the sky, landing right in front of the Princess.
The Hippogriff was as large as an normal horse, but it only had the hind legs and the tail of one. It's front legs and head resembled that of a falcon with large wings to match. It's feathers were silver in color and had bronze colored eyes and a yellow beak.
Weiss, Blake and King were shocked by the arrival of the beast. "Woah!"
Luz mounted the creature with relative easy and motioned to her friends. "Get on!"
Without hesitation Weiss scooped up King, then she and Blake got on to the Hippogriff and Luz made the bird horse hybrid gallop in to the air following after The Owl Lady. Speaking of which, they managed to catch up to her in a matter on seconds.
Eda saw the teenagers and her pet riding a Hippogriff along side her. "Wha!? i thought i told you to head back?" She exclaimed.
"That's the thing about us, we don't exactly do what we're told" Weiss said.
"We're coming to save our friends and you can't stop us" Blake added.
Eda understood they were determined to help Ruby and Yang. "Fine just be careful"
"So what are we up against?" King inquired.
"It's obviously a Puppeteer" Eda said.
"A what?" Weiss didn't understand.
"It's a type of Demon that uses puppets to trick people" Eda explained.
"So why is it after Ruby and Yang?" Weiss asked.
"Their the bait, it's me he wants" Eda stated.
"Why?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah what does this guy have against you?" Blake also asked.
"No idea?" Eda said. "But we're going to find out"
Back with Ruby and Yang. In the hours that passed on their 'quest' the duo travelled far and wide meeting many more characters along the way. At the moment they were being led by some fairy princess, that claimed to know the way to the Celestial staff. They trekked through the woods past trees and bushes, for Yang thankfully no spiderwebs. Until they arrived at their destination. A beautiful lake with clear blue water, surrounded by lush trees and plants. But the most important part was the magic staff on a pedestal in the centre of the lake. There quest was at it's end.
"There is it!" Ruby excitedly said.
"We made it" Yang stood beside her sister in accomplishment.
"Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long You 2, who braved the swamp fog, defeated the dark beast of the woods and rescued my home from the evil spider king. You 2 are true heroes!" the fairy addressed the sister's.
Ruby blushed at the compliment. "Oh stop it"
"When first saw you 2 i thought of you as nothing, But now i know in mine heart that the staff could not have been found by someone more worthy" Nevereth words made Ruby blush even harder.
Yang interrupted for a moment "Okay that's enough with the praise, they'll be plenty of time for more later. For now why don't we finish this quest" Reminding her 'modest' sister.
"Oh, Right" Ruby remembering what they came all this way for.
The 2 huntresses in training walked together up to the pedestal to claim their reward. They regard the staff with awe and wonder. The staff itself was white in color with a baseball sized blue crystal on the top, a gold pommel and a golden ring on the top.
"Let's pull it out together" Ruby said.
Yang nodded to her sister. They each held on to the staff firmly with both hands. And pulled upward in unison. As they lifted the staff up high, magic poured out from the pedestal. Suddenly just as it started it ended. And the area around them changed. Instead of the beautiful fantasy style lake, everything was dark and gloomy, the water had dried up and all of the plants were welted or dead. And a creepy fog started to roll in.
"What's going on?" Ruby said in shock.
"I don't know? but i got a bad feeling" Yang said.
Her bad feeling was completely justified, as the staff they where holding on to suddenly changed into a long rope. Which proceeded to tie them up. Yet again.
"What the hell?!" Yang shouted.
Ruby was also confused. "What's going on!?"
"Not very bright girls after all" Adegast appeared from the fog.
"Magical Wizard man?!" Ruby shouted in more confusion.
"He's no Wizard!" Yang struggled to free herself.
"How right you are" Adegast's eyes popped of their sockets as if they were meant to and there was a long tentacle sprouting from his back. This freaked out Ruby and made Yang snarl in anger. "You both wished for adventure, but your foolishness has led you into my trap, humans!" a large, light mauve octopus like monster appeared from the fog and cackling. It's head resembles that of a puppet with tentacles and arms. Yellow teeth with exposed gums. Yellow eyes with black sclera, small black eyebrows and what appeared to be a sac of eggs under it's chin.
The octopus monster pulled out more tentacles, they all had puppets of all the people Ruby and Yang met.
"Everybody?! now what's going on?" Ruby became even more confused.
"Haven't you figured it out yet?, you 2 aren't chosen ones and there is no celestial staff" The octopus taunted the girls speaking through the wizard puppet.
"Yeah we know that now, but why us?" Yang asked, missing the last piece in the octopus' plan.
"The Owl Lady has been stealing customers from me for years!, I planned to lure her here and kill her. But using you 2 as bait will work just the same" Adegast explained his plan to the girls.
"Well too bad for you!" Yang taunted. "Eda's not stupid enough to fall for an obvious trap like this!"
At that moment Eda, Luz, King, Weiss and Blake along with a Hippogriff arrived as she said that.
"Ruby! Yang! We're here to save you guys!" Blake shouted.
"Oh crap" Yang cursed at her jinx. While Ruby simply looked shocked at the turn of events.
"Looks like they are that stupid" Adegast continued to taunt them.
"Listen up you gross octopus! Let our friends go or you'll be sorry!" Luz said.
"It's you who will be sorry for coming here so foolishly" Adegast said.
"News flash hentai man, we out number you 5 to 1" Blake stating their obvious advantage.
"Yeah! There's no way we can lose" King said in triumph.
That statement was a little further from the truth than King knew. As Adegast's tentacles ensnared all 5 of them with ease. "Or not?" said King.
"Way to jinx it King" Weiss said sarcastically.
"Hahahaha! So much for heroics" Adegast laughed.
"Adegast! Just let the kids go! It's me you want!" Eda demanded.
"True, but i can't have them telling everyone the truth about me, that would be bad for my business" Adegast said tightening his tentacles around his captives. Everyone felt their the pain of being crushed. Luz's Hippogriff saw it's master in pain, so without a second thought it bit the tentacle that was constricting her. Adegast screamed from the creatures sharp beak and released her. Blake used her semblance to make a shadow clone and escaped. She proceeded to use Gamble Shroud to shoot at the tentacles holding her friends. The octopus demon released her captive friends from his tentacles.
Eda dispelled the binds on Ruby and Yang, and they all got ready for battle. "You kids alright?" Eda asked.
"We're fine" Ruby answered.
"And looking for payback" Yang added.
Both girls readied their respective weapons and joined the fight. While Adegast used his puppets to attack the group. The octopus came at the 2 girls with 3 of his puppets. But Yang punched them back and Ruby sliced them off his tentacles with her scythe. Weiss used fire dust to burn up another puppet, a tentacle tried to sneak up behind her. But Blake slashed it, saving her.
Eda and Luz were holding off more tentacles using their magic. Eda used fire attack spells and lightning and Luz backed her up with same energy blasts. King tried to help, but his small size wasn't much of an asset. He got smacked by a tentacle.
The fight went well for our heroes, when suddenly Adegast opened his mouth and a purple smoke came out of it. Covering the whole area. The girls were all on guard for whatever was going to happen. The smoke was so thick none of them could see each other.
Ruby grew nervous and called out to her friends "Weiss! Blake! Yang! Eda! Luz!? Can anyone hear me!?" but no one answered.
The smoke continued to roll in. Until Ruby saw a silhouette appear in the smoke. Ruby transformed Crescent Rose into gun mode and aimed it at the figure. The figure stepped out of the thick smoke revealing her mother, Summer Rose.
Words could not describe Ruby's feelings at this moment. Tears began forming in her eyes. She made a mad dash toward her mom, hugging her when she reached her. "Mom!" Ruby buried her face into her mothers chest crying her eyes out.
"Shh shh shh, it's alright baby girl" Summer soothed her daughter.
It helped a little but Ruby was still teary eyed "Mom I-i-i-i can't believe your here?, How are you here? I thought you died?"
"Who told you that?" She asked.
"Uncle Qrow he-" Ruby stopped realizing something. "He said you went on a mission... and never came back?" Ruby broke away from the hug trying to process what was happening. "He-he told me he saw you-"
"Sweety, are you going to believe your own eyes or something a stupid drunk said?" 'Summer' questioned her daughter sounding very cold when she spoke.
Ruby gasped hear her mom would never call her uncle a drunk. From what she remembered from old stories about Team STRQ, they all said Summer and Qrow were pretty close. Almost romantic. And she would never say something like that about him.
'Summer' began inching closer to Ruby, while Ruby took a cautious step back. as she backed up, she bumped into something. More accurately someone. And it was Luz.
"Ah! Ruby your here!" a startled Luz said.
"Luz?! What's going on here? This cloud of smoke appeared, i got separated from everyone and i just saw my dead mom!" Ruby said all while being totally freaked out.
"What?!" Luz said confused.
"My Mom that everyone else said had died years ago on a mission?! did it involve the Boiling Isles? is that why she's here?" Ruby's mind began to run wild with multiple theories as she spoke.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Calm down girl, this isn't really it's an illusion made by Adegast and his puppets" Luz explained.
Close by 'Summer' walked out of the fog. "Care to introduce me to your friend... Ruby?" she had a twisted grin while she said that. And one of her eyes became lopsided like google eyes.
Both girls became unnerved upon seeing this. 'Summer' started to walk closer, but she was limp as she did. As if she couldn't keep her balance.
"What's wrong with her?" Ruby asked.
"That's not your Mom" Luz replied.
Summer took another step closer, but Luz shot an energy blast at her head, who recoiled from the attack. 'Summer' got a hole in her face revealing her head to be hollow, confirming it was one of Adegasts puppets. Ruby gasped in horror at this. And the Summer puppet started to move erratically, before lunging at the girls like a rabid animal. As if by instinct Ruby readied Crescent Rose in scythe mode and slashed at the puppet decapitating it. The puppet fell to the ground, completely lifeless.
Ruby looked at the puppet in confusion which quickly turned to anger. "That creep!, first he tricks me into a fake quest, now he tricks me with a puppet of my dead mom!" her eyes narrowed "He will pay"
"Glad to hear that, you might want to cover your eyes" Luz made a small ball of light in her hand. She sent it into the air, where it grew bigger until it exploded into a shower of beams of light. The beams dissipated the fog and destroyed the other puppets in the process. The others saw what was happening and gathered to Ruby and Luz.
"Great job on the light show Princess" Eda gave a wink of approval.
"Thanks" Luz returned with her own wink.
"Great now let's finish this jerk wad off!" Yang said eager to pummel the Demon Puppeteer.
"Not so fast!" Adegast announced. The octopus demon appeared in front of them. Holding King in one of his tentacles. "Or the dog gets it!"
King protested being called a dog. "I'm not a- mmph" but silenced when Adegast's tentacle covered his mouth.
"I'm done playing around Owl Lady" Adegast threatened.
Ruby motioned to Blake. "Good so are we, Now!" acting quickly, she transformed Crescent Rose into gun mode and blasted the octopus demon in the face. Adegast shrieked in pain and rubbed his eyes. While he was distracted by that. Blake using her speed and agility, sliced off the tentacle holding King and rescued the little demon.
"OW! You'll pay for that Bitch!" Adegast cursed.
"Just try Tentacles for brains!" Ruby shouted.
As Adegast came at the girls with his tentacles, Team RWBY were fighting them off. Ruby and Blake slashed at the tentacle's, Weiss stabbed them with her rapier and Yang punched to her hearts content. Adegast was beaten, bruised, all his puppets were broken or destroyed and his tentacles were equally beaten. Luz stepped in front looking very angry.
"Okay let's talk this out" Adegast realized he was beaten and tried to worm his way out of this. "I-I-I can give you a free charm, guaranteed to bring everlasting good luck, or-or-or-or" he looked at Luz. "You! Young witch I'll give you a magic staff, a real one!"
The girls didn't buy it. Especially Luz and Eda.
"You think you can get out of tricking and threatening my employees, not happening bub!" Eda said.
"And you can't buy us off with cheap trinkets, besides i plan earning my staff from 2 of the greatest witches alive!" Luz declared with confidence as she formed a very large orb of magic pointed directly at Adegast. The orb then turned into a equally large beam, which hit the octopus demon. Adegast shrieked in pain as he shrank down to the size of an orange.
The group surrounded the shrunken puppeteer, who coward in absolute fear.
Luz picked Adegast up by the tentacles and inspected the shrunken demon. "Hmmm? I was going for a smouldering pill of ash?"
She hands the tiny octopus to Eda. "That's the last time i take an outside referral" Who proceeds to eat it. "Oh sorry did you want some?" Eda asked.
Ruby looked dejected and sad. Blake noticed this. "What's wrong Ruby?"
"This was my fault, i wanted an adventure and roped you all into this" Ruby said.
"Hey don't blame yourself sis, he could have fooled anyone" Yang said trying to reassure her sister.
"I wouldn't have be-OW!" Weiss chimed in but Yang smack her on the head before she could finish her piece.
But this didn't cheer her up very much "I thought i could go on a fantasy style adventure, but it turned into a nightmare" Ruby turned away from the group, with the same sad expression she had moments ago.
Eda then idea in her head. She whispered something into Luz's ear who proceeded to whistle making her Hippogriff rush to her side.
Everyone looked at Eda and Luz curious about what they were talking about. "What are you 2 up to?" Weiss asked.
"Hop on we're going to show you girls something great" Luz said. Eda also took out her staff.
Team RWBY looked at each other and then at the 2 witches, with questioning faces. But they went along with whatever it was they wanted to show them. If hesitant. Moments later they were flying several feet in the sky. With King, Ruby and Weiss riding on Eda's staff and Blake and Yang with Luz on her Hippogriff. All 4 huntresses were giving blindfolds to cover their eyes, for the surprise Luz promised. Ruby in particular was holding on to Eda for fear of falling off.
They eventually reached the desired height and Eda told Team RWBY. "Okay girls we're here, you take off the blindfolds"
All 4 Huntresses did so. And were behold to a sight few humans were privileged to. Right now the sun was setting, giving the sky a wonderful orange color as day transitioned to night. All while they were gazing at the entire corpse of the Titan that made up the Boiling Isles.
"Woah!" Team RWBY said in unison.
"The Bones of the isles" Eda said. "Up close the isles can be slimy.."
"And very stinky" King added.
"Also pretty weird" Luz chimed in as well.
"And gross..." Eda finished before looking up to the night sky. "But, if you look at it from a different perspective" a bright shooting star flashed across the sky.
"It's beautiful" Ruby finished as if knowing what Eda was going to say.
"It sure is" Blake said.
"Yeah" King leaned against Weiss and closed his eyes.
"Hey, how did you guys know that wizard was lying?" Ruby asked.
"Look kid, everyone wants to believe they're chosen" Eda said bluntly. "But if we all waited for some prophecy to make us special, we'd die waiting"
"And what about you Luz?" Weiss asked.
Luz became a little bashful when asked. "Well, let's just say. Ruby isn't the first person to be tricked by a wizards flattery"
"So you were a dunce like Ruby" Weiss said making her teammate blush in embarrassment.
"Yea" Luz did the same as Ruby.
Eda chuckled at that, but quickly regained her composer. "And that's why you girls got to choose for yourselves"
"Do you think we can become great huntresses someday?" Ruby asked Eda.
Eda smiled at the young girl. "I have a feeling you girls are going to be best of them all"
