A.N

Hey, guys, I'm back. That last update is now voided.

As I mentioned in the update, I lost an amazing friend over something that could have easily been avoided.

Luckily, I recovered, graduated and am doing pretty great now. I'm ready to write this again (until I get a job and get too busy.) So we're back in business.

To that former friend, if you're reading this, I'm sorry about everything.

I miss you and will always value that friendship that we had. If you ever wanna talk, let me know, but it's okay if you don't. Sometimes, you just gotta move on and look forward.

As for my audience, I'm sorry for leaving you guys hanging. I don't care if I felt depressed or not, I felt like it was inappropriate for me to just up and ditch the story when it was getting juicy.

Anyways, guys.

Let's get on with the chapter.

Midoriya found himself lost in Shigaraki's eyes. The blood red orbs obviously held years of anger and hatred, but midoriya could see other emotions too.

"I should have killed you when I had the chance." Shigaraki growled.

Shigaraki had definitely changed from the last time he saw him. The villain was more built and he had white hair now. He seemed to be wearing a suit with a fur coat draped over him. He had a cast on and his hand had a couple fingers missing.

A detail that Midoriya seemed to notice in particular was the absence of a certain disembodied hand that usually rested on the villain's face.

What the hell happened?

"I know you're meant to kill me or something but just…let me explain…please…? I have information about something that you might not be aware of." The teen finally said.

Shigaraki narrowed his eyes at the UA brat, seemingly staring into his soul.

He then looked around like somebody was listening and took Midoriya upstairs to a bedroom that seemed to be his as a young child. The villain carelessly threw Midoriya on the small bed before he immediately began rummaging through things.

The hero in training watched as the white haired menace looked around like he's never been there before. Shigaraki then glared at Midoriya.

"If you're gonna sit there and say nothing then I should just decay you right now."

Midoriya jumped startled and quickly nodded.

After explaining what's been happening (and leaving out a few parts), Midoriya sat in silence looking at Shigaraki's face for a reaction. The boy was scared for his life.

But his reaction was unexpected.

"Don't expect anything out of me. I just learned about this part of my life myself. I'm here for answers like you." He hissed as he looked through the toy box.

Midoriya hesitated before shakily asking.

"What happened was obviously traumatic. Did it have anything to do with your dad-Agh!"

Midoriya found himself with both hands around his throat, both pinkies raised.

"He is not my dad," Shigaraki growled with a low voice, "he is my father. And he brought what he got onto himself."

Midoriya nodded quickly with a pale face. Regardless, the broccoli took that answer as a yes. Shigaraki breathes heavily as he harshly lets go of Midoriya.

"This is for a dumb assignment right?" The villain asked as he scratched at his neck.

Midoriya hesitated before nodding again.

"I'll cut you a deal. I'll let you walk away with your life and maybe some of my old things, but then you have to do something for me."

Midoriya gulped in fear.

"W-what is it?" He asked.

"I don't know yet. I think I'll just hold it over your head. Keep you on your toes, you know?" Shigaraki said in a strangely calm voice.

When Midoriya stayed quiet, Shigaraki chose to continue,

"And if it isn't obvious, you also can't tell anyone about this little chat. As far as anyone knows, you just found everything you brought back. Never saw me. I will hear about if you run that mouth of yours, Izuku Midoriya. I have eyes everywhere. I don't think I need to tell you the consequences of this encounter now do I?" He said.

Midoriya nodded.

"I understand….I never planned to. This is an investigation assignment, not an actual mission." He answered.

Shigaraki nodded slowly, again staring into Midoriya's soul.

"I want to see what dirt you have so far." The villain stated.

Midoriya compiled without hesitation, not wanting to anger the villain and lose his only chance at solving this case. The boy dug into his bag and handed the villain the file he had on the Shimura massacre.

Shigaraki looked over the file. The villain seemed to grow more uneasy as he noticed the missing poster and the police report. People had actually looked for him?

Seeing the confusion, Midoriya elaborated,

"15 years ago, police as well as local heroes were called with various reports from neighbors. Some reported a "domestic disturbance" while others reported "a quirk malfunction." By the time the police showed up, you had been missing from the scene for two hours. Due to the bad response time, a couple officers were terminated from duty while the heroes only got a suspension from their licenses. A seventy hour search was started as well as an investigation on what happened was opened, but both were dropped due to no leads." The broccoli explained,

"At this rate, I believe most of it has a lot of negligence involved since I got more dirt on this case than the police back then. But just know….you may be a villain, but you are a missing child as well."

He then looked down at the ground and then back at Shigaraki's terrifying eyes.

"Now that you have more answers, what's your next move? All for one's in jail and from the looks of you now, something definitely went down with the league." Midoriya asked,

"Are you gonna move forward with your goals or are you going to heal….we help reduce your sentence and help you-"

"SHUT UP!" Shigaraki suddenly shouted, sending Midoriya a death glare.

"Don't think for a second this changes things. That I'd ever let myself get trapped in the cage that is society!"

Midoriya stayed silent, not knowing what to say to that. The villain took the silence as his cue to leave. He stood up and threw the file at Midoriya,

"Take whatever you want, but don't think this will be our only encounter. I will be back for that favor, Izuku Midoriya." Shigaraki stated.

With that, Shigaraki left via that strange portal, leaving Midoriya to process what just happened.

Collecting the rest of the things he needed was a blur. All Midoriya could think about was the encounter and the fact that he now had a debt to pay Shigaraki.

Midoriya knew that this was what All Might was warning him about. He could have just left it alone. He could have just left this be and received his grade. But Midoriya came to the house anyway.
the broccoli knew there was a line that he was crossing when he came here.

This encounter just showed him that after what just transpired, there was no turning back.
