Joseph went to Goldenrod City's gym to battle Whitney in order to win the badge, and Whitney was in the gym.

"Hello there!" She smiled. "What are you here for?"

"Your badge! I want to battle against you and win!" Joseph said, convinced.

"Hmmm... are you really that willing?" She asked. "I won't be easy on you, not even on today!"

"I don't know what that means, but ok!" Joseph said.

They got into their positions and Whitney smiled.

"Alright! Two against two, alright? Go, Clefairy!" Whitney called.

"Clefai!" She celebrated.

"Go, Ursaring!" Joseph called his only female Pokémon.

"Weren't you famous for your dragon type? Where is he?" Whitney asked.

"I got to do some research in my way here" Joseph smiled. "You like to smite Pokémon with Clefairy and then destroy them with Miltank. Well, that can't be because Ursaring is female herself!"

"What?! Clefairy, use Metronome!" Whitney ordered, as quick as she could.

"Ursaring, do not let her, use Headbutt!" Joseph ordered as well.

Ursaring hit Clefairy pretty hard, she fell to the floor, fainting.

"You're so cruel!" Whitney cried. "I will pummel you for sure!"

"I want to see you try" Joseph boasted.

"Why you... meanie!!!" Whitney took Miltank out of her PokéBall. "Miltank will show you what means to Rollout!"

Miltank began to Rollout incessantly and repeatedly. Ursaring soon fell down, fainted.

"Oh, you fainted Ursaring!" Joseph said. "Please, rest, my girl"

"Yeah, you big meanie!" Whitney snarked. "I'll win for sure!"

"You sure about that?" Joseph smiled. "Go, Heracross!"

Heracross roared, and even Miltank got slightly scared.

"Ah!!!" Whitney was surprised.

"And we megaevolve!" Joseph said, activating his Key Stone.

Heracross megaevolved.

"Karate Chop, Heracross!" Joseph ordered.

Heracross chopped Miltank on the head, making her faint instantly. Whitney couldn't hold her tears and began wailing.

"UAAAAAH! UAAAAH! YOU BIG MEANIE! UUUUAHHH!" Joseph let her get it out of your system. "You have an overleveled Mega-Heracross, it's not fair..."

"Can I have the Badge?" Joseph asked.

"Of course" Whitney said, giving it to him.

Joseph grabbed it, feeling accomplished. He then decided to scoot out of the Gym and go back to the Pokémon Center to rest. It was night, and the streets were empty.

"Why was she not going to go easy on me? What is today?" Joseph asked.

"It's Toy Day! Today, Father Winter comes and gives everyone a gift!" SmartRotom said.

"Ah! Toy Day! I remember it, completely! I always looked forward it back in Blackthorn. I guess I got so busy with the adventure I just forgot. I've been out half a year already?" Joseph asked.

Suddently, something shiny fell from the sky. Joseph went to see what it was... and it was Father Winter's trolly.

"Ow, ow, ow..." Father Winter saw Joseph. "Ah, Joseph! You're just perfect. First of all, let me give you this"

He gave Joseph a gift. A Mystery Gift.

"You didn't ask for anything this Toy Day, so I gave to you a Mystery Gift. Open it! It can be anything!" Father Winter said.

Joseph took out a green round box. When he opened a little opening, a green... red... something... blob came out. It called other stuff within the box and they swarmed until the box became a dog Pokémon.

"Ah, I now know what it is!" SmartRotom said. "It's a Zygarde Box! It contains the cells and cores of Zygarde, and will allow you to get its different forms"

"Zygarde? The legendary dragon?" He said, and looked at the dog. He inmediatly offered a PokéBall. "Hi there, Zygarde. I want your help to make the strongest team of them all!"

Zygarde accepted to be in the PokéBall. Father Winter smiled, but then his smile fainted.

"I need your help, Joseph" Father Winter said. "I need an Ice Pokémon to make my trolley's path to become stable with Icy Wind. I used to have a Jynx, but it bailed out a while back. I've been trying to do Toy Day without it, but it's been hard"

Joseph thought about Delibird. He couldn't just give out Delibird like that, and Father Winter said it like he would need him for the rest of his life. He took out Delibird, and got to his level.

"Delibird, Father Winter needs an Ice type to help him deliver gifts to every good person in the world" Joseph said. "You will be with him forever and won't be able to battle at my side. That doesn't mean I don't love you, and because of that I want you to choose between battling with me and giving out happiness with Father Winter"

Delibird looked at Father Winter. He had always loved Toy Day, and even tried to emulate Father Winter's antics when he was wild. That was just what a Delibird did. So, he decided to help Father Winter. That didn't mean he didn't love Joseph. He was his trainer... forever.

Joseph understood his feelings, and hugged Delibird, before standing up and giving Delibird to Father Winter. Not his PokéBall, though.

"He's still my Pokémon" Joseph said. "Just... take care of him, alright?"

"I will, Joseph" Father Winter promised. Delibird used Icy Wind, and the trolley could fly without problems once again.

Joseph went to the Pokémon Center, to his bed, and fiddled the Zygarde Box within his hands before falling soundly asleep.

The thing was awake, but not fully formed yet. It had oozed from its original, and was watching the evilest man, Proton, from a distance.
