A/N Hi guys! so here we are with a new chapter, thank you so much as usual for the reviews. I hope you enjoy you this one and I'll be looking forward to read your thoughts on this. Thank you for reading!
...
A knock on her door makes Donna look up and smile widely "Dad!" She exclaims as she sees her father enter her office, she stands and hugs him tightly. "What are you doing in the city?" She asks with curiosity.
"Oh I had some meetings for a new development, I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop by and see my babies" He says with a smile as he places his hand on Donna's stomach. They tried to get out of their weekly dinner but Elena immediately noticed something didn't add up so Donna just figured that since their friends already knew it wasn't fait her parents didn't. To say they were thrilled with the news would be an understatement.
"That's great dad, you want to have lunch together? Harvey could join us" She offers and he nods.
"I would love that. I need to see him first though sweetheart, there's some things we need to discuss"
"He's not your lawyer" She points out. Even though William Scott retired a year ago, when he left Scottie in charge of the firm, Jim kept his business with them out of loyalty.
"I know, it's about something else he's been handling for me" Jim lies and prays his daughter doesn't notice.
"Well, that's not cagy at all" She comments but lets it go, she'll just ask Harvey about it later.
"Donna, Harvey and I have a close relationship sweetheart, you know that, it's nothing to worry about, I promise" He reassures his youngest.
"Okay, he's in his office. I have a meeting with Louis now, but I'll see you later for lunch?" Jim nods and leans up to kiss her forehead before leaving her office.
As he makes it next door, he knocks on Harvey's glass door and the younger man looks up to see his father in-law standing there.
"Jim, hey!" He says as he stands and motions for the old man to come in. "Are you here to see Donna?"
"I'm here to see you" He replies in a stern voice. "I want to know why I got a phone call from the DA to tell me you're being threatened, no wait, let me rephrase that, to tell me my daughter is being threatened"
Harvey's face falls. Jim is a good man, and he's like a father to him, but he's also a very influential and powerful businessman, he knows way too many people and while that comes in handy most of the time, sometimes it can backfire.
"Cameron called you?"
"You're damn right he called me"
"Jim-"
"No! you are going to listen to me, because I don't give a shit about how we came to this point, I care about how you're gonna protect Donna from this… Because if you remember correctly, when you took that job at the DA's office I told you what would happen if something ever happened to my daughter, and I meant it"
"I would never let anything happen to her, and you know it" Harvey replies in a stern voice.
"Then make sure that stupid kid doesn't fuck up again, you have forty-eight hours to fix this Harvey"
"Or what?" Harvey challenges the man that has been the closest thing he's had to a father figure over the past few years.
"Listen boy, you know you're family to me, but she's my daughter, you'll be a father soon and only then you'll understand where I'm coming from, the depths you'll be willing to go to protect them. Have the kid fix this or fix it yourself but have it done in the next two days or that son of bitch will regret threatening my daughter when I take care of it myself" He's never seen Jim so determined before, not even when he blamed him for his baby girl moving to another city.
"I'll fix it" Harvey finally concedes and Jim nods.
"Hire security for Donna until then"
"No need to" Harvey replies in a confident tone.
"Listen Harvey-"
"No you listen Jim, cause you're family to me too but I've had it with your attitude. She may be your daughter but she's my wife, and it's my child she's carrying. it's my job to look after them and trust me when I tell you I'm willing to do whatever is necessary to protect them"
"Then you better Harvey… Donna wants to have lunch but I can't stay, so please excuse me with her… See you on Thursday night Harvey" He says as he exits his son in-law's office.
When he married Donna he knew he was marrying into her family too, and being the daughter of a powerful man is not always a good thing. He never had any issues with Jim Paulsen, but he learned quickly enough there was more to the man than he let on. He's a good man but he's also used to having things work the way he wants them to work, and he makes sure they always do.
…
His wife walks into his office with a smile plastered on her face a while later. "Have you seen my dad? We were going to have lunch"
He takes a moment to look at her and appreciate what a lucky bastard he is for having her in his life, maybe Jim is right and he should let him have his way with Gallo, Donna's safety is definitely worth it.
"Harvey?" He snaps out of it and smiles at her.
"I saw him, he had to leave, said he was sorry but something came up and he couldn't stay" He explains.
"Oh, that's too bad, I was looking forward to having lunch together"
"Yeah, I know honey, but we'll see them on Thursday night"
"What about you? Are you up to lunch with your wife?"
"Of course I am, but let's take a long lunch break and go home, there's something I want to discuss with you" She looks wearily at him but nods.
"Sure" She agrees and he follows her outside.
Once inside the back of their car she leans against his side and he puts an arm around her while he rests his mouth on the side of her head.
"Did something happen with my dad?" She asks softly and he sighs.
"I'll tell you everything, as soon as we get home, I promise"
"Okay" She agrees and snuggles further into his embrace, burying her face in his neck.
…
"He knows about Gallo" Harvey says once they're inside their house and heading into the kitchen to unpack the food they bought on the way.
She sighs and shakes her head "How?"
"Cameron called him"
"I really hate that asshole" Donna replies softly while she sits on a barstool.
Harvey chuckles and leans over the counter "I know"
"What did he say?" She asks, now referring to her father.
"He gave me forty-eight hours to fix it or he's taking care of it himself" Harvey explains, never taking his eyes away from hers.
"What does that even mean?" She asks softly and Harvey shrugs.
"I don't know" He honestly replies "He wanted me to hire security for you, I said no, cause I figured you'd be against it" She scoffs and shakes her head.
"You were right, I don't think we need security and I think you're all exaggerating" She tries to dismiss but he sees right through her.
"I'm not so sure about that, but I'll fix this Donna… And it's okay to be scared" He says when sensing that even if she tries to play it cool, she is indeed scared, more than she lets on.
"It's not me I'm scared for" She admits, and her hand instinctively reaches for her stomach.
"I'll have him murdered in his cell before I let him hurt either of you" He says in a serious tone, so she knows he means it.
"Don't say that" She replies in a hurried tone "That's not the man I want you to be, ever" She finishes and he sighs and looks down, ashamed of how the thought even crossed his mind.
"You're right… but I promise you have nothing to be afraid of" She looks up at him and smiles weakly, in exchange he gives her a big grin.
"What?" She asks with the smile still plastered on her face.
"Nothing, it's just… Despite how fucked up this is, it's nice to see you care about peanut so much"
"Of course I care about peanut, Harvey"
"I know you do, but it's nice that you show it"
"You make it sound like I'm already a terrible mother" She muses while pretending to be offended.
"I didn't mean it like that" He frowns and she chuckles.
"I know, I'm messing with you… Give us our salad already, we're starving" She demands and he smiles widely while he hands her the chicken salad pot because it's the first time she refers to her and their baby as a we.
…
After lunch they return to the firm and Donna decides to confront her father with a phone call, because no matter how much she loves him, no one comes after her husband like that.
"Hello Sweetheart, I'm sorry I couldn't-" Jim starts as he takes the call but is interrupted by his youngest daughter.
"Who do you think you are coming down at Harvey like that?!" Donna says with a stern tone over the phone.
"Donna-"
"No, I'm not done. I'm not a kid, I'm an adult and I can take care of myself. I have enough with Harvey being in 'papa bear mode' all day long to add your smothering father complex into this, you wanted to hire security? Are you even serious?"
"Yes, you're in danger because your husband and his stupid sidekick put you in that position"
"Harvey has nothing to do with this and don't talk like that about Mike"
"I don't ever want to see you laying in a hospital bed again Donna" He says in a softer tone, appealing to her softer side.
"Dad, you won't, that was an accident. I'm safe, Harvey would never let anything happen to me, he'll give Gallo whatever he wants and that's it"
"Okay Donna, you're right, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come to Harvey like that, I just worry"
"I know, but you don't have to" She says in a softer tone.
"Just please call us every night to let us know you're okay until this is over, your mother is beside herself with worry" He requests and she sighs as she paces inside her office, this is why she didn't want them to find out. Damn Cameron the Antichrist Dennis.
"I will dad" She promises
"Okay, I love you sweetheart"
"Love you too, bye" She replies and ends the call. As soon as she sits back behind her desk a knock interrupts her thoughts, she looks up to find Mike standing there.
"Can I come in?" He asks and she nods while motioning with her hand to the chair in front of her desk. "I'm so sorry Donna" He says with a remorseful voice "Had I known this would happen, I never would have-"
"I know Mike, and I know you were only trying to do the right thing here, so no need to apologize"
"He's finally happy again… I would never forgive myself if something happened to you, I hope you know that" Donna smiles at him, appreciating how loyal Mike is to Harvey and how much he cares about her husband, the way only a brother would.
"Mike, you love Harvey like a brother, I know that and he knows that, and I know you'd never do anything to hurt us, not on purpose"
"Your dad was here earlier, he has a scary glare" He comments and Donna chuckles softly.
"Yeah, he barks but he doesn't bite, just like Harvey, so don't worry… What does Gallo want?" She asks apprehensively and Mike sighs.
"I'm not sure Harvey would want me to discuss that with you"
"Good thing he's not here right now then… You owe me at least that much" She hates to use the guilt card against him, but she needs to know.
"Money, the issue is that he never stops asking for it, I pay him and he wants more and more… How does he know you?" Mike asks in a curious tone "Gretchen says he told her 'Harvey's pretty little redhead' would pay the price, how does he know you're a redhead?" Donna sighs and leans further into her chair.
"I was there when he was convicted… his case… it was one one of the most gruesome cases Harvey took while being an ADA, he had a hard time dealing with it, so I was in the courtroom to support him the day of the verdict, he saw us, put two and two together and figured out I was Harvey's wife-"
Before she can continue, Harvey's voice can be heard from the doorway "So after the verdict, before he was taken into custody he made sure to tell me how beautiful she was and all the things he'd do to her if he ever got out of prison" Harvey finishes while he looks at his wife.
"That's why you lashed out at me" Mike says while looking up at Harvey, who's still standing in the doorway.
"Collaborating with a case like this can help him reduce his sentence, and not only that, he's gonna keep asking for money, because it's what he does, he blackmails people, and he kills people. He murdered a whole family becuase he believed they had more money in the house than they let on… He's a real life monster. This isn't about me being overprotective and I'm not exaggerating, Jim is not either, so I'm not going to apologize for the way I reacted"
Donna keeps her gaze focused on Harvey while her hand stays flat against her stomach.
"I would have reacted the same way" Mike replies with his head cast low, feeling incredibly guilty.
"I know, and I don't want to ask you to choose between the firm and the clinic Mike, but if your actions ever put her in danger again, I will fire you"
"Harvey-" Donna starts but is cut off by Mike.
"He's right Donna, he's totally right" Mike agrees with Harvey as the older lawyer walks over her and leans down to kiss her forehead.
"I came by to tell you I have to leave for a meeting and I'll see you later at home" She nods and smiles up at him.
"Okay"
"You're coming with me" He tells Mike sternly, who immediately stands and follows him.
"Where are we going?" Once they are out of Donna's earshot he turns his head to Mike and answers him.
"To see Gallo"
…
A prison is not a place Mike is familiar with, he's always worked in corporate law ever since he graduated so he never saw the inside of a place like this before.
"Why did you bring me with you?" He asks as a guard takes their ID's and registers them in as visitors.
"Because I want you to see what mingling with someone like Gallo is like… the danger you're putting Donna in. I know you want to do the right thing, but you have to learn how to do so with the right means, ensuing the help of a convicted murderer is not the way" Harvey explains in an upset tone as he signs some forms.
"Harvey" A tall bald man calls as he approaches them and shakes Harvey's hand.
"Terrance, this is Mike, one of my junior partners" Mike shakes hands with the man too.
"Terrance Berkley, the warden of this nice place" He says sarcastically and Mike wants to chuckle but decides it's not the right move right now "So, you're the one that has been contacting Frank Gallo and put this one's wife in danger" He says while pointing to Harvey.
"How do you-?"
"Harvey told me, we go way back, he must really like you if you're still working for him"
"He's fond of me, yeah" Mike replies smugly, earning himself a glare from Harvey.
"Well, lucky you, come on, I'll take you to Frankie" He says in a light tone and Mike wonders how the man is so calm while working at a horrible place like this and reminds himself why he should never get into any trouble that could land him in jail.
They are taken into a small room with a table and two chairs, and it reminds Mike of those interrogation rooms you see in movies.
"Camera will be off for ten minutes, there's a guard on the door ready to put Gallo down in three seconds flat if you need it, but he'll be in handcuffs so you shouldn't have any trouble" Terrance explains to Harvey who nods knowingly.
"Thanks Terrance"
"Harvey" The man calls back before leaving "No visible marks that are hard to explain please" He tells the lawyer before leaving the room.
"What does he mean?" Mike asks Harvey who only looks at him sternly. "Harvey" Mike presses but before his friend can reply the door buzzes open and a guard walks Gallo inside.
"Harvey Specter, what a nice surprise, and you must be his lackey, Mike"
"You have ten minutes" The guard tells them as he closes the door behind them.
"So Harvey, how's red? Never seen more beautiful legs in my life, and I've seen-" He doesn't get to finish because Harvey has him flat against the table in an instant while he punches his side repeatedly. Mike gasps and walks back until his back hits the wall, he's never seen Harvey so furious before.
"You listen to me, you piece of shit, you're gonna stop threatening my wife and you're gonna stop harassing my employee or I'll make sure you spend the rest of your stay here in solitary confinement" Harvey snarls against Gallo's ear, when the man starts laughing Harvey lifts his head and smashes it against the metal table, causing the criminal's nose to start bleeding.
"Harvey… Harvey, always so temperamental, Mike and I are trying to help innocent people here, there's no need to get so violent"
"Don't fuck with me Gallo, you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself"
"Listen Harvey" Gallo starts as he walks a few steps backwards "You can put me in solitary all you want but that won't stop me from coming after her if I want to"
"You'll be in prison for the rest of your life if I have any say in it, and I do, trust me" Harvey snarls in a low tone and Frank chuckles darkly.
"I don't need to get out either" He says with a bloody smile.
"Harvey, he's just trying to rile you up" Mike tries to reason with him and Harvey nods as he straightens his coat.
"Rile him up?" Gallo asks smugly. "She takes yoga classes on Tuesdays and Fridays at eight a.m. She orders a decaf skim milk latte with vanilla and whipped cream every morning at the coffee shop inside a bookstore a few blocks from your home. Didn't take her for a decaf woman though, maybe she had to change it recently" He says with a smirk as Harvey launches himself at him again, grabbing his throat and pushing him against the wall.
"You think out of the two of us I'm the only one that has something to lose?... You think I don't know you have a daughter, you son of a bitch?!" Harvey snarls and he presses harder into Gallo's neck, blocking his airways.
"Harvey" Mike yells at his boss "Let him go" He tries to get Harvey to release Gallo but he's not listening, and Mike keeps tugging on his arm while Gallo turns redder by the second, trying to gasp for air. "Harvey, think of her, please" Mike begs and that does it, because Harvey lets a choking Gallo go then. The man keeps coughing while he lays on the floor, trying to catch his breath.
"You don't have it in you Harvey" Frank chokes out once he's half recovered "You would never hurt my daughter… you're not a murderer… but I am"
Harvey breathes heavily and looks at Gallo, but before he can say anything else, Mike kocks forcefully on the door and the guard comes in immediately.
"Take him" He instructs, referring to Gallo who's still on the ground.
Harvey paces the room with a hand on his forehead and another on his waist as Mike approaches him.
"Harvey…"
"I need to get out of here" He mumbles as he heads for the door and Mike follows him, he's not sure if they need to sign anything before leaving, he's pretty sure they do, but Terrance gives indications to let them straight out once he sees the look on Harvey's face, and Mike thinks the man must really owe his boss if he unquestionably lets them go just like that.
Once outside, Harvey starts fidgeting with his tie and the collar of his shirt before resting his palms against the hood of the Lexus and gasping for air to reach his lungs, Ray opens the door and hops out of the car to hand Mike a bottle of water.
"Harvey" Mike touches his shoulder but Harvey shoves him away roughly and takes the bottle from him before sitting on the floor and resting his head against the car as he tries to successfully ride the panic attack. "Just try to breathe… in and out Harvey, come on" Mike crouches before him and encourages his friend as he always does but it's not working this time, usually a few deep breaths and a glass of water would do the trick, it's never been this bad before.
"Harvey, look at me" Mike tries again and keeps breathing slowly so Harvey will follow him but it's useless.
"I can't" He gasps out while he grabs his head and hides it between his knees.
"No, don't do that buddy, fresh air, come on Harvey" Mike says as he tries to get his friend to look at him again.
"Mike" Ray calls and the lawyer looks up at him, when he sees the man's pointed look he knows what Ray is suggesting, Mike's thought about it too, it's the last thing he wants to do right now because he knows Harvey will probably kill him for it, but he doesn't see any other way out.
He sighs and pulls his cell phone out, dialing the only person that can calm Harvey's frantic state right now.
"Mike, hey" She greets cheerfully as she picks up.
"Donna, Harvey is having a panic attack and I can't stop it, it's bad, I've never seen him like this before, I need you to talk him through it" He frantically says into the phone.
"What!? What happened?, where are you?" She asks desperately and Mike sighs.
"Don, I really need you to do this for me without asking and I'll tell you everything afterwards, I promise"
"Okay, put him on the phone" She immediately agrees and he puts the receiver on Harvey's ear.
"He's on" Mike confirms.
"Harvey, listen to me, I need you to breathe for me, okay? Follow my voice and take deep breaths for me honey" The mere sound of her voice grounds him somehow and he even glares at Mike for calling her and scaring the shit out of her. "I need to know if you can hear me Harvey, please"
"He had you followed" He chokes out and hears her sigh. A shiver runs down her spine at the discovery that someone's been following her around, but right now she needs to focus only on Harvey.
"Listen to me, I'm safe, we're both safe and waiting for you at home, so please Harvey, please, breathe with me and come home to me, okay?" She'll also get to the part of how the hell does he know that once he's home, right now, all she needs is for him to be okay.
"I can't lose you again… I can't" He says with a raged voice and she holds some tears back, the last thing he needs is to hear her cry, so she forces herself to calm down.
"You won't, we'll figure it out but first I need you to come back to me, okay? Please Harvey"
He grabs the bottle of water and gulps it down almost entirely, as if it were some kind of antidote, or a strength potion, he closes his eyes and focuses only on her voice as she tells him how she's okay and how she loves him more than anything.
Mike sighs in relief as he notices how Harvey's breathing slowly returns back to normal, he sits next to him and rests his arms on his knees as he lets out a long breath.
"I'm okay, I'll be home as soon as I can" He says into the call as he stands and opens the back door of the car.
"Okay, hurry back to me, I love you"
"Love you too" He hangs up and tosses the phone at Mike.
"Harvey, I am so sorry" Mike says for the hundredth time.
"I know, but it's not enough, drop the clinic or leave your letter of resignation on my desk by tomorrow morning"
"You said you wouldn't make me choose" Mike says in a low voice.
"That was before I knew he had her followed, I want nothing to do with Gallo or the clinic, you wanna do some pro bonos knock yourself out, but if you want to work for me you'll drop them" Mike sighs and doesn't reply, he thinks that if roles were reversed, he'd probably do the same, if Rachel and his son were in danger because of something Harvey did, knowingly or not, he'd be that pissed too, so he understands Harvey's need to protect his family, but he likes working for the helpless people too, it's one of the reasons he became a lawyer in the first place, even if that interview at Pearson-Hardman changed everything for him. The truth is he wouldn't even know Rachel if it wasn't for the chance Harvey took on him, so he figures that if he has to choose, he'll choose Harvey, even if it kills him to leave Oliver and Nathan high and dry.
…
When Ray parks outside of Harvey and Donna's home, Mike gets out of the car too. "Tell Ray to drive you home, I'm okay" Harvey says as he grabs his keys and stumbles a bit before managing to unlock the door.
"I just want to make sure you're fine" Mike replies but Harvey shakes his head.
"I said I am, go" He snaps and his friend sighs and heads back to the car.
Once he opens the door and steps inside a flash of red invades him as Donna throws herself into his arms and he holds on tightly to her, letting her scent invade his senses and focusing on feeling her body wrapped around his.
She separates a bit from him so she can see his face "Are you okay?" She asks with concern written all over her face.
"I am now" He replies with a small smile and she hugs him close again.
"What happened?" She asks against his neck.
"I'll tell you everything Donna, but I really need a shower first"
"Okay, come on" She takes his hand and leads him upstairs to their bathroom.
She's not about to let him out of her sight now that he's home so she helps him undress and takes her clothes off too so she can hop into the shower with him.
She holds onto him tightly as they let the hot water wash over them. "Feeling clingy today?" He tries to lighten the mood but she scoffs at him.
"I'm not in the mood for jokes Harvey, you scared the shit out of me" She says in a serious tone and he sighs deeply.
"I'm sorry… I didn't want him to call you" She looks up at him and shakes her head.
"He did the right thing, he said he'd never seen you like that before, that he couldn't help you ride it… Harvey, what happened? How do you know he had me followed?" He lets out a long breath and regrets having told her about that.
"I went to see him to prison" He admits and she tenses in his arms "I almost… he knows your routine, he knows where we live"
"You almost what?" She asks softly while she caresses the hair at the nape of his neck.
"When I realized he had you followed… I grabbed his throat and I almost choked him to death" He says with a shameful tone "I wanted to, so badly, but then Mike told me to think of you and I let him go, that's when I had the panic attack"
"Harvey" She says softly as she places a kiss on his chest.
"All I could think of was how someone has been following you around, watching your every move, how you and our baby have been in danger for days and I didn't even know about it… I just…" He looks down at her and rests his forehead against hers. "It's not fair Donna, not when we're finally happy again"
"I know, but I also know you'll find the way to fix this by pulling the kind of shit only Harvey Specter can do. You're gonna find the way to tear the goddamn wall down, I know you will"
"How are you so certain?"
"Because I know you, and I have faith in you, you always find a way" He smiles at her lovingly and she returns it with the same tender look.
"I love you" He whispers against her lips before claiming them with his own in a tender kiss.
"We love you too" She replies once they break apart and he rounds his arms around her, holding her close and wishing for this nightmare to be over soon.
…
Once sleep takes over Harvey a few hours later, Donna carefully disentangles from his embrace, he stirs a bit but luckily he continues his peaceful slumber as she leaves their bedroom.
She has about ten texts from Mike, so she decides to go downstairs and call him.
"Donna" He picks up after the first ring. "How is he?"
"He's okay, he told me what happened, you did the right thing Mike"
"I highly doubt that, I did everything wrong"
"I meant by calling me, I'm glad you were there… That he wasn't alone, so thank you" She says as she tucks her legs below her on the couch.
"You're in danger because of me and you thank me? You're something else Donna"
"I'm in danger because Frank Gallo is a psychopath, and I'm thanking you for always being there for Harvey when he needs you"
"I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Harvey"
"I know"
"He asked me to choose, between the clinic and the firm"
"I know"
"I'm choosing the firm" He adds and she smiles to herself.
"I know"
"Maybe you really are the Dalai Lama" He chuckles softly and she follows.
"Maybe I am" She replies in her know it all tone. "How's Rachel?"
"Sleeping, I had no idea pregnant women sleep so much"
Donna chuckles softly "Yeah well, growing another human being inside you can be tiresome" She says in a soft tone.
"Yeah, you should get some rest too" He replies and sighs.
"Mike, you're a good person and a good friend, don't let Harvey's anger convince you otherwise, he's mad but he'll get over it, you know how he is"
"Not when it's about you, he doesn't get over things so easily then"
"He will"
"You didn't see him… He was terrified, Donna, I only saw that look on him once before" She doesn't need to ask when, she knows he means the night of the accident.
"This is different, I have faith in Harvey but I also have it in you Mike, and I know you'll fix it"
"Thanks Donna"
"Good night Mike"
She ends the call and goes back upstairs to their bedroom, she smiles at the sight of Harvey sprawled across the bed, an arm above his head as he sleeps quietly, his mouth slightly open and he looks so cute she has to fight the urge to kiss him.
Instead, she climbs into bed as quietly as she can and settles herself next to him, resting her head on his pillow and her arm on his chest, he stirs and half opens his sleepy eyes to look at her before putting his arms around her and holding her close while they fall back into slumber, their happiness being threatened lingering in the air, but they'll deal with it tomorrow.
A knock on his glass wall has Harvey look up to find Mike standing in the doorway. Now he knocks, Harvey thinks bitterly.
"Unless it's related to a case that actually leaves money for my firm, I'm not interested" Harvey says in a flat tone while looking at his laptop.
"It's not, I wanna help… with the Donna situation" He adds carefully and Harvey scoffs.
"You mean the situation where you put my family in danger of being murdered?" Mike sighs and shakes his head.
"Please don't say that Harvey, I feel guilty enough already as it is" His tone is remorseful and full of guilt.
"Well I don't give a damn how you feel, it's the goddamn truth, I'm sorry if you can't stomach it but that's the danger you put my wife and my baby in"
"I know… How many times do I have to say I'm sorry?" He looks up at Mike with a stern look on his face, the same kind of look he uses in the courtroom.
"Try telling someone who cares"
"I just want to help Harvey"
"You've done enough as it is, I don't want your help, get the hell out of my office"
"Now you're being plain unreasonable" Harvey stands at that and looks straight at Mike.
"Unreasonable?!" He yells which makes Gretchen look up at them and glance towards the COO's office who apparently can't hear them because she's in a conference call with her airpods on. "You know what losing her did to me, you know what I went through to get her back"
Mike takes a step forward and waves his hands in the air as he replies "That has nothing to do with this, I would never do anything to put her in danger on purpose, you know that I care about her!"
"I don't care Mike! you did anyway, so do me a favor and get the hell out of my office now!" Harvey yells as he sits back in his chair and turns it around to look out the window, facing away from Mike.
The younger lawyer turns to leave but stops at the doorway. "I've always been by your side unconditionally, you're the brother I wish I had, and yes I made a huge mistake, but it was only one, in all the years that I've worked for you, and you shut me out like this? It's not fair Harvey… You never see straight when it comes to her, and your panic attacks won't stop until you're able to" Havey remains in his position and Mike sighs one last time before leaving his boss's office.
Gretchen appears a few seconds later by his door. "I know it's not a good time, but I have Cameron Dennis on the phone, he says it's urgent"
"Put him through" Harvey simply says as he turns his chair back around to face his desk. "Cameron" He says into the receiver.
"Harvey, we got the guy that's been following Donna, I had a few cops that owe me run through the security footage of the caffé Gallo mentioned and the streets nearing the yoga studio and we got him" Harvey sighs in relief and rests his elbow on his desk while he runs a hand through his hair.
"Thank you Cameron"
"If you want five minutes alone in a room with him I can make it happen but we have to go down to the station right now" Harvey jerks up and stands.
"I'm on my way" He says as he hangs up and grabs his coat.
"You're not gonna tell her?" Gretchen asks as he passes by her and he looks back at his wife's office to see her still immersed in her meeting.
"As soon as I get back"
"And Mike?"
"What part of going down to the station right now, did you not get Gretchen?" He asks in an annoyed tone.
"You should let the police handle it" She retorts and he sighs.
"Well, I won't… And I'm turning that goddamn intercom off as soon as I get back" He starts walking but Gretchen speaks again.
"He's right, you never see straight when it comes to her, but now it's not just her anymore, you need to control your impulses Harvey"
He doesn't reply, because he knows she's right and he knows Mike is right too, but right now, he can't bring himself to care.
