Midnight Murders in the void

Chapter Two

Richard woke up straight up from his cell cot since he was alone at the moment. The security officer name Scotty had made his rounds earlier to head back to his office. He cried out for Scotty to please help him with needing water.

He was frantic as Scotty with the keys came inside the cell area with his weapon still in his holster. While he grabs the keys to open up his cell. "What happened Richard to have you crying out like this in the first place?"

"Another bad dream about me killing women. I just don't understand as to why this is happening to me?" he tells Scotty moving inside and staying back.

Exhaling for the moment. Scotty came in closer to Richard not realizing that his emotions were building to push Scotty out of the way and run out of the cell.

Scotty is surprised completely by the large man with the energies of his body to knock him out completely to the cement floor.

Richard ran out not knowing just where he was going at the moment...

But in the meantime, Yonkers police for the overnight Commander Dennis Wilson on the force for 15 years had seen it all. However, at the crime scene, he had seen the body after talking with the eyewitness that he was able to find the body behind the garbage bin.

He will ask Doctor Carmine Coroner what exactly killed her.

"Are you serious Commander in regard to what killed the woman Eleanor Robbert age 35 years old? I will be taking the body back to the coroner's office to do an autopsy on her once her husband Dave arrives to confirm her ID for sure.

"Sure enough Doctor Carmine, I need a full report before the reporters are able to get hold of the story and pull it apart with lies." Commander Wilson alluded to rubbing the back of his neck.

Coroner's office

Doctor Carmine and his assistant have received the body and unwrapped the female Eleanor Robbert. Her husband Dave Robbert age 34 years old will be arriving.

Anders Morts the assistant came inside to tell Doctor Carmine in his office that the body was ready for viewing. He looked up from his computer terminal. "What is it, Anders?"

"Sir, the husband is here to view the body and he's extremely upset with his daughter Julie waiting outside the window," he tells him with a exhale of emotion.

"Okay, I will be right there," he noted.

He watched his assistant leave to speak with the husband and the daughter.

Moments later he came out of his office to walk down the long hallway to see the husband and daughter holding each other. "Dave Robbert, I am Doctor Lewis Carmine coroner. I am so sorry for your loss," he tells him.

Grieving with his daughter. "Who would do something like this doctor?" he cried out with his response.

Shaking his head to try to answer the question. "I really don't know Mr. Robbert, however, the police are working hard to search for the killer." he recanted...

"I have thought that the police had a suspect Doctor Carmine?" the husband alluded with his question as he had tears falling down his face as the daughter was unable to speak right now.

"They did on two fronts, Mr. Robbert. First of all, he was in the area of your wife's murder, and second, he had knocked out a security guard inside the holding cell. The officer had thought that he had been suffering from a bad nightmare and it was upsetting for him to escape. I have the entire shift and tomorrow to be searching for Richard. Otherwise, there is nothing else I can tell you." he commented watching the husband take one final look at his wife's face as with the daughter.

"Doctor Carmine, did you find anything else with the death of my wife?" Dave needed to say it for his own sake before leaving the coroner's office.

Matter of fact he had no idea on whether he should tell him now even the more bad news. "There was something else that you might not know by your wife and that is the fact she was seven weeks pregnant to make it even worst." he croaked out spilling emotion onto his sleeve.

"OMG! I didn't know Doctor. However, she did say that she was planning on going to see her doctor since she had been feeling sick of late. We have been trying to have a child for years ever since our daughter was born." he gestured with his hand covering his face due to the shock of the news.

"Anyways just let us know when you're ready to make burial plans and we will be able to release the body to you?" Doctor Carmine makes the notion with his comment.

"Certainly Doctor," Dave says to him withholding his daughter's hand as they take one last look at Eleanor.

Doctor Carmine watched them leave as his assistant came over to close the window as he came inside after they had left.

"Please be sure to place the body back into the cooler?" he ordered out of sheer frustration in his voice.

Blessed house of the order church is some seven blocks away from the police station.

Richard had found himself inside the alleyway of a small order church with the cold of the evening beginning to drop further. He needed to get inside to warm himself up. Even though every bone in his body had been hurting.

Exhaling with moving off the stairs to head inside as the side entrance wasn't locked. He slowly walked inside to a partially lighted hallway as he had to find the proper shelter.

He will find a small storage room not locked as well filled with all types of supplies for the church and including a medium-size cot that it was obvious that someone else might have been sleeping on it. Closing the door with locking it this time. He had enough light to see with the emergency lighting up above was working.

Lay down his tired body with a small blanket on the cot as he will place the grey blanket covering him up to his shoulders. It was at this point from sheer exhaustion he had fallen deep asleep...

Early the next morning the maintenance man named Joseph as he's called at the church. Though Joseph suffers from Parkerson's disease at the age of 64 years old. He's been suffering from it for the past forty years finding out at an early age.

Father Lowry of the church had hired Joseph knowing that he was able to trust him with his work around the grounds.

Joseph had gone to his locker to change out of his clothing before heading on over to the storage room to pick up a few items to begin his day.

Walking slowly with his six feet two-inch frame. He was mumbling under his breath for whatever reason.

There wasn't anyone else around at this particular time in the morning as he found the storage door locked when he knew that he had left it opened.

Using his key to open it up when he turned on the light when he saw the cot with someone sleeping under the grey blanket.

He was scared as Richard wiped his eyes needing to clean them when he was frightened as well by telling the man..."Don't be scared, I won't hurt you!" he paused trying to throw off the blanket only to be hit with a mental image that he had no idea what was happening...
