"Regina? What are you doing here?"
"I heard about Julien so of course I came. Is he here?"
"No he's still in the hospital. But please come in," Sydney said, moving aside to let her in. Regina entered the Gage home and turned to Sydney.
"So you're the reason my husband is in the hospital?"
"Excuse me?" Sydney asked, closing the door.
"Well Julien said he had you as a partner. Weren't you supposed to be watching his six?"
"Look lady, I am Julien's partner and I was watching his back. I was the one who noticed him being hauled off by that crazy psycho. I did what I could and it kills me that he got hurt."
"I knew he should never have come here. He was so hellbent on finding his family when he should've just stayed with me and Bryson."
"Okay, I don't know what I did to piss you off but I refuse to be spoken to like this in my own home. If you want to see Julien, he's at St. Mathew's hospital in room 223. So please leave," Sydney said opening the front door. Regina huffed as she walked out the door and Sydney slammed it closed.
"The nerve of some people," Sydney said as she went to lie back down on the couch.
Regina arrived at the hospital and went to Julien's room. The door was open and Regina saw Gage sitting inside the room. She walked in.
"Who are you and why are you with my husband?" she asked.
"I'm Gage, his brother. You must be Regina."
"Obviously. Now where is my husband?"
"The doc just came to get Julien for some scans. He should be back any minute."
"Well I'm here now so you can go."
"Excuse me?"
"I said you can go."
"Lady, you are barking up the wrong tree here. I'm not leaving him."
"What is it with you people? Why does everyone think they need to butt into our business? This is between Julien and me."
"Actually no its not," a voice said from the door. Both Gage and Regina turned to see Julien being pushed in by a nurse. She wheeled him to the bed and helped him get on the bed. She covered him, asked if he needed anything and left when Julien said he was fine.
"Gina, what's going on?" Julien asked.
"I've come to take you home to Oklahoma."
"My life is here in Dallas."
"Our family is in Oklahoma."
"Gina, we got divorced remember?"
"The papers aren't final yet and you made a promise to me. Did you forget that?"
"What promise?"
"That when you left the army, you would come home to me."
"Gina, I did come home. You were the one who wanted the divorce, not me. I wanted all of us to come to Dallas together and you were going to until your father got involved yet again."
"Leave my father out of this."
"Can you?" Julien asked.
Regina sighed and folded her arms. Gage felt so uncomfortable during this exchange.
"Hey bud, I'm gonna head home to Syd," Gage said, standing.
"Actually I wanted to let you know that they're releasing me tomorrow. Doctor says I shouldn't be alone for the first few weeks so can I crash at your house? Would Sydney be mad?"
"Nah man, she'd be fine with it. You're always welcome."
"Um, what about me Julien? I can take care of you," Regina said.
"Gina, you can barely boil water. Your dad hired us a cleaning lady who did the cooking at our house remember?"
"I've learned a thing or two since we split."
"Like?"
"I can hire my own cleaning lady now."
"Of course," Julien scoffed."
"Julien, you are my husband and you will be coming with me. It's my duty to take care of you."
"I'm not fit to travel long distance anyways."
"Then we can find someone around here to stay until we can return to Oklahoma."
"You can still stay at the house," Gage said.
"Thanks bro," Julien said. Gage nodded and headed out the door. He wanted to get home to talk to Sydney.
Regina looked at her husband, lying in the hospital bed.
"So you really don't want to leave here?"
"My family is here. I've made good friends here and I've got a good job now."
"One that almost killed you."
"That's the risks we take as Rangers. Besides I did more dangerous things with the DRU."
"Nonsense."
"Do you not remember the Callum gang and how they threatened our family for bringing them down? That was plenty dangerous and Bryson was only 3 years old then. You and him went to stay with your parents until I was able to arrest them. Do you remember now?"
"Julien, that is in the past. You don't work with the DRU anymore."
"No because I'm a Ranger now."
"It's time to put this silliness behind you and come home where you belong. We can work out our issues and give our marriage another shot."
"I'm sorry Gina, but I can't. I like Dallas and being here with Gage, Sydney and the rest of them is where I belong. If you really want to give our marriage another try, you need to get off your dad's teat and come to Dallas."
"My father only wants the best for me and Bryson."
"No he wanted you to marry Darren Callfield. Darren's family was the second largest ranch in Pawhuska and if those two ranches had gotten together, your father would've owned 70% of the country's cattle production. But you married me. I didn't go the way your father wanted, I didn't went another direction. I'm not going to apologize for my choices. But I've grown up in the past 15 years. I needed too. I'm not saying you haven't but maybe we grew in different directions. I will always love you because you gave me our son and I love Bryson more than anything in the world. But if you really want to work things out between us, come here and be with me in Dallas. You'd like it here and I'm sure you would find friends in Sydney, Alex and Erika. They are a wonderful group of ladies."
"Sydney, the one who got you in this hospital?"
"This wasn't Sydney's fault. This was my own fault."
"What do you mean?"
"The person who attacked me was Randy Tyler. Turns out he never died all those years ago. He was wearing Kevlar and survived the shot. Hes been hiding all these years and waiting to get his revenge on me. Apparently his little sister Dana had a thing for me back then and I never knew. So what I left the Army after that mission and came home to you, he decided one day he was going to end my life, like I tried to end his."
"I can't believe Randy has been alive all these years. You were devastated over having to kill him back then."
"I know. That was the worst moment of my military career. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy."
Regina sighed, put her purse down and sat on the edge of Julien's bed. "I'm sorry Julien. I know things weren't easy then and they're not now. I'm sure I came off as a hard ass to your family and I will apologize when I see them again."
"I'm sure Gage and Syd have heard worse."
Regina took Julien's hand. "What's it going to take for us to be together again? I still love you Julien, I've loved you since I was 15 years old."
"You need to come to Dallas and learn to stand up to your dad."
"Okay."
"Seriously?"
"Maybe its time to venture out and not just be Cranston Marshall's daughter."
"I love hearing that."
"I love you Julien."
"I love you too Gina."
