The Trinity Church collapsed due to The Chameleon's hidden explosives that were planted. Rubble and debris surrounded the graveyard, destroying tombstones and the flowers that were planted to respect the dead.
A pile of rubble and debris was moved and out came Spider-Man, all dusted and bruised. He circled and saw the damage that was caused by the Chameleon. He became scared, having no sight of his aunt or his friends.
"May! Ben! Happy! Yuri! George!" He shouted, hoping for an answer. But none came.
Rain poured as Peter looked around, pleading that they were all okay. As soon as he began to lose hope, a voice called out. It's Ben's.
"Peter?" Ben's voice said weakly. "We're under here!"
Spider-Man hurried to the voice and saw it come from another pile of rubble. He began to remove it, unsure if they were alright. But, to his luck, he found Ben Reilly, his clothes cut and dusted, protecting May Parker from the blast.
"Is she…?" He trailed off.
"She's fine. Just knocked out. Were you able to find Happy or Stacy?"
"No, but I'm gonna find them." Spider-Man helped Ben up from the ground and Ben readjusted May's position. Raindrops dropped on his and Peter's face.
Ben looked at him skeptically. "You or we?"
Peter didn't know how to respond. "Ben, I…"
Ben's eyes narrowed. "We'll talk about this later. We need to find the others."
They then heard a groan that came from another pile of debris. A hand popped out of it, making everyone come to realize who it was.
"Happy!" Peter and Ben shouted in unison. Peter grabbed his hand and lifted him out of the building's remains. He helped steady him and his suit had gained a few tears and his face was cut.
"Happy, are you okay?" Ben asked.
"I'm fine. Where's–" Happy was about to ask before he saw Ben holding May. He limped toward her. "May!"
"She's fine. I'm gonna help find Cpt. Stacy with Peter and wherever that bastard Chameleon is." Ben gritted his teeth.
Peter nodded and Ben gave May to Happy. They knew he would keep her safe for the time being. That was when they heard a scream.
"HELP!" Yuri Watanabe's voice shouted. Peter and Ben followed that voice, thinking she was injured or in a state of peril. They saw Yuri Watanabe unharmed, but that didn't make the situation better.
They saw Cpt. George Stacy, bleeding from his chest, leaving huge stains on his shirt of blood. An iron rod was through his chest and his eyes were fighting to stay awake.
"NOOO!" Ben shouted and they ran to his aid.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey! It's okay. We're here." Peter spoke in a panic.
Cpt. Stacy was able to smile weakly when he saw Peter. He clutched Yuri Watanabe's hand and said, "...Peter…"
"Yeah, it's Peter. Don't worry, you're gonna be okay, just hold on tight and we'll get you to a hospital–"
"There's no time," He coughed.
Ben shook his head, refusing to believe this. Usually, he doesn't let emotion phase through him, but he couldn't help it. Tears streamed down his face and Peter felt hopeless.
At that moment, Peter didn't care about anything. Not about the darkness inside of him, Chameleon, or what he was going to do to him when he found him; All he cared or thought about was that another mentor was gonna die because of him, because of the life he led.
Yuri wasn't gonna give up, obviously in denial. She immediately positioned herself so that she was facing her partner and put her hands on his face while giving him a stern look, despite her watered and sullen eyes.
"You listen to me; You're not gonna die. We are going to take this thing out of your body," She took her hands off of his face and grabbed the iron rod, tugging it. She turned to Peter. "Help me pull."
Peter saw her desperation, but he knew that…that this was the end.
"Yuri," He spoke in a near whisper.
"HELP ME PULL, GODDAMMIT!" She yelled, but her voice was like a daughter pleading for her father's life. She whelped as Ben walked over to slowly remove her hands off the iron rod. "I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry."
Ben helped her up from behind as Peter kneeled to his level. Cpt. Stacy.
"Pe…Peter," He groaned painfully and weakly. "Promise me…to keep Gwen safe…" He choked. "Please promise…me,"
Peter sobbed. All tears were lost in the rain before he said, "Of course, George. I promise."
George tried to say something else and failed. He was at least able to give a weak smile before his eyes drifted off and his body became still.
Everyone else was just as still as Cpt. Stacy's body was, maybe even more so as they mourned the loss of a good cop, a better man, and an even better father.
It was him that brought Peter back after Stark hunted him down and made him feel better about himself.
It was him that introduced Ben Reilly to her daughter and helped him no longer feel alone.
It was him that gave May Parker advice on how to be a better parent to Peter, well more than she already was.
And it was him that was a good friend and partner to Yuri Watanabe. It felt like it was them against a city filled with its injustices.
Peter's senses went off and he walked away to find where it was and he saw The Chameleon, limping and trying to find something in the rubble. But Spider-Man didn't care. All the rage and anguish came back to him as he saw the man who he felt was responsible for his mentor's death.
He grabbed him and threw him back on the remains of the Trinity Church. Ben, Yuri, and Happy gathered to see this take place. It was then they all realized that this could be it; This is where Peter could actually kill a man and be forever corrupted by the Symbiote.
Spider-Man pounded on Chameleon, not caring about the consequences or the toll that this could potentially take on him. At one point, he felt someone's hand on his shoulder, telling him that he couldn't do this, but he grabbed that person's arm and threw him to who knows where. He didn't care who the person was, all he wanted was to make Chameleon pay.
Somewhere in the Wundagore Mountains, a young woman sat on a porch outside of her wooden cabin, contemplating to herself, with a mug of tea in her hand. She didn't seem to be focused on anything in particular. That moment was ruined when she felt a rageful scream. It felt distant, but she could feel the young man's pain.
"Peter?"
*PUNCH*
*PUNCH*
She knows who Peter is. He and May helped her when she was on the run. She cares for him as an older sister does for her younger brother.
*PUNCH*
*PUNCH*
She knew she had to do something. So, she got up from her spot on the porch, went inside, and closed her eyes.
*PUNCH*
*PUNCH*
She focused on the raging voice and only the voice. Everything else was put out of her mind.
*PUNCH*
*PUNCH*
When she opened her eyes, they glistened a dark shade of red. She had an idea; Whatever was going on with Peter, she knew that he wouldn't listen to her. But she knew someone who he would listen to…
*PUNCH*
"PETER, STOP!" A voice he thought was long dead popped into his head. It was Ben Parker's voice.
He instantly stopped and viewed the beaten man on the ground. He coughed up blood and his entire body shook. Ben Reilly was nowhere to be seen, but Yuri Watanabe was on the ground, unconscious as a cut of fresh blood was seen on her head.
"Peter, this is not who you are. You must fight this. For May, for Gwen." The voice of Ben spoke to him
Right then and there, Peter understood the harm he caused and what he was about to do to Chameleon. If it wasn't for the Super Soldier serum in his system, Spider-Man could've killed him.
He knew what he had to do next–He looked down at his black suit and began to tug on it, seeing how toxic it was. While he is strong, the symbiote has grown strong as well due to Peter's anger and guilt.
Happy and Ben were watching him struggle and they knew they had to do something.
"If he doesn't get that thing off him, we could lose him forever!" Ben panicked, feeling helpless that he couldn't do anything to aid his friend.
As he pulled off little slithers of the symbiote, Peter remembered the loud sound that Thanos made with the Reality Stone to defeat him and the car alarm when he first fought the Chameleon. "Ben, sounds! That's what weakens it!"
Ben thought that was a good start, but how would they even create a fire or sounds. He looked around, his body panted as he struggled to come up with a solution. But then, he saw one of the bells from the tower, sitting there.
Ben knew that this would be their only shot, so he screamed at Happy and Yuri, "Help me get it back up! NOW!"
They hurried as Peter continued to pull off the symbiote. Two voices in his head fighting with each other.
"You will be ours!"
"No, he won't. You won't take him!"
"We are all he has left!"
"You're wrong!"
"SHUT UP!"
"He has May, Ben, Gwen, Happy…and me."
Peter remembers that voice very well. "Wanda?"
"It's me. You can fight this Pete. I believe in you!" She cried.
That gave Peter much-needed confidence and he felt even stronger, removing a small chunk of the suit before–
*DONG*
The sound of a bell was rung. Peter felt the Symbiote shriek in pain. He turned and saw that Ben Reilly, Happy Hogan, and Yuri Watanabe were able to get the bell back up somehow as Yuri held the rope to dispense it and Ben held an iron rod to made the bell rang.
*DONG*
Another shriek and it helped. Peter removed some on his arm.
*DONG*
And another shriek was made by the alien creature. Peter tore a big portion of it off of his chest, revealing his original red and blue Spider-Man suit chest as the symbiote fought back.
*DONG*
Peter was able to remove it from his face, revealing his original spider mask.
*DONG*
He tore almost all of it off of his back, revealing the back portion of his red and blue Spider-Man suit. The symbiote tried to repair itself but to no avail.
*DONG*
It was becoming increasingly easier to tear the symbiote off of his body. The Symbiote feeds off of negative emotions and he was starving it off of his body.
*DONG*
"That's good, Peter. You almost got it off, you can do this!" The voice of Wanda spoke confidently.
*DONG*
His red and blue Spider-Man suit was fully revealed without any trace of the black parasite on his body. Peter Parker felt this great sense of relief that it was finally over.
Or was it...?
